It was 1997,

and I was the new boss of Griffin's Foods,

an iconic cookie and snacks company in New Zealand.

It was my first time as the leader of a company,

and I was on the stage to give a big speech

about our ambitious new goals.

I knew exactly what my call to action was,

which was "One in every four times a Kiwi eats a snack,

I emphasized that we knew how to measure our results

Embarrassingly enough,

If not us, who?

And if not now, when?"

ئه‌گه‌ریش ئێستا نه‌بێ، كه‌ی بێت؟

I got this huge round of applause

ئه‌و چه‌پڵه‌ زۆره‌م بۆ لێدرا

and I was really, really pleased with myself.

به‌ڕاستی زۆر دڵم به‌خۆم خۆشبوو

I wanted so much to be a good leader.

زۆرم ده‌ویست تا ببم به‌ سه‌ركرده‌یه‌كی باش

I wanted to be followed by a devoted team,

I wanted to be right.

In short, I wanted to be a hero.

A hero selling chips and biscuits in a pink suit.

What happened after that speech?

Nothing.

All of that applause did not lead to action.

Nothing changed.

Not because they didn't like me or the message.

The problem was that no one knew what they were expected to do.

And most importantly,

they didn't know that I needed them.

Now, you may think that this is a classic hero speech,

ئێستا وده‌زانن ئه‌مه‌ ووتاری ،پاڵه‌وانێكی كلاسیكیه‌

where I'm going to tell you that I overcame that obstacle and triumphed.

لێره‌ كه‌ ئه‌مه‌ت پێده‌ڵێم توانیم به‌سه‌ر گرقته‌كان زاڵبم و سه‌ركه‌وتوبم

Actually, I'm going to tell you

له‌ڕاستیدا ئه‌وه‌تان پێده‌ڵێم

that in a world as complex and interconnected

كه‌ له‌ دونیای ئاڵۆزو په‌یوه‌ندیدار

as the one we live in,

،كه‌ ئێمه‌ لێی ده‌ژین

the idea that one person has the answer is ludicrous.

It's not only ineffective, it's dangerous,

because it leads us to believe that it's been solved by that hero,

and we have no role.

We don't need heroes.

We need radical interdependence,

which is just another way of saying we need each other.

Even though other people can be really difficult, sometimes.

هه‌رچه‌نده‌ خه‌ڵكانێك به‌ڕاستی .به‌زه‌حمه‌تن

I spent decades trying to work out how to be a good leader.

به‌ ده‌یان ساڵم به‌سه‌ر برد تاكو بزانم .چۆن ببم به‌ سه‌ركرده‌یه‌كی باش

I've lived in seven countries and five continents.

And in recent years,

I've spent a lot of time with the B Corp community,

originally as a corporate participant

Now, B Corps are a group of companies

who believe in business as a force for good.

There's a tough certification with about 250 questions

about your social and environmental performance.

ده‌رباره‌ی ئه‌دای كۆمه‌ڵایه‌تی و .ژینگه‌ییت

You must legally declare your intention

ده‌بێـت به‌شێوه‌یه‌كی یاسایی نیازه‌كه‌ت ده‌رخه‌ی

to serve the community as well as your shareholders

تاكو خزمه‌تی كۆمه‌ڵگاو هاوپشكه‌كانت بكه‌یت

and you must sign the declaration of interdependence.

هه‌روه‌ها ده‌بێت په‌یوه‌ستبوونی .ڕابگه‌یه‌نیت

Now one of the things that inspires me the most

ئێستا یه‌كێك له‌و شتانه‌ی زۆرترین ئیلهامم پێده‌به‌خشێ

about the companies in this movement

ده‌رباره‌ی كۆمپانیاكانی ئه‌و جولانه‌وه‌یه‌

is that they see themselves as part of a whole system.

ئه‌وه‌یه‌ خۆیان له‌ ته‌واوی سیسته‌مه‌كه‌ بدۆزنه‌وه‌

It's sort of as if they imagine themselves on a big, flowing river of activity,

وه‌ك ئه‌وه‌ی خۆیان له‌ ڕووبارێكی گه‌وره‌ی ،به‌خوری پڕچاڵاكی ده‌بینن

where, if they are, for example, soft drinks manufacturers,

كه‌ بۆنمونه‌، ئه‌گه‌ر ئه‌وان، كارگه‌ی ،دروستكردنی خواردنه‌وه‌ گازییه‌كانبن

they understand that upstream from them,

،ئه‌وا له‌سه‌روچاوه‌ی خۆیان ده‌گه‌ن

there's water and sugar,

and farmers that grow that sugar,

and plastic and metal and glass,

all of which flows into this thing

كه‌ هه‌مووی ده‌ڕژێته‌ نێو ئه‌م شته‌ی

that we call a company which has financial results.

كه‌ ئێمه‌ پێی ده‌ڵێین كۆمپانیا .كه‌ ده‌رئه‌نجامی دارایی هه‌یه‌

And the flowing continues with consequences.

هه‌روه‌ها ئه‌و ڕژانه‌ به‌رده‌وام ده‌بێت .له‌گه‌ڵ لێكه‌وته‌كانی

Some of them intended,

مه‌به‌ست له‌هه‌ندێكیان

like refreshment and hydration,

وه‌ك سارده‌مه‌نی و ئاو

and some unintended,

،هه‌روه‌ها هه‌ندێكیان بێ مه‌به‌ستن

like garbage and obesity.

،وه‌ك زبڵ و قه‌ڵه‌وی

Spending time with leaders in this space

به‌سه‌ربردنی كات له‌گه‌ڵ سه‌ركرده‌ لێره‌

has led me to see that true collaboration is possible,

وای لێكردم ئه‌وه‌ ببینم كه‌ هاوكاری ،ڕاسته‌قینه‌ ده‌كرێت هه‌بێت

but it's subtle and it's complex.

.به‌ڵام شاراوه‌و ئاڵۆزه‌

And the leaders in this space are doing a few things very differently

وه‌ سه‌ركرده‌كانی ئه‌م بواره‌ شتی كه‌م به به‌ زۆر جیاوازیی ئه‌نجامده‌ده‌ن

from traditional heroic leaders.

.له‌سه‌ركرده‌ پاڵه‌وانه‌ كلاسیكییه‌كان

They set goals differently,

،ئامانجه‌كان به‌ جیاوازی دیارده‌كه‌ن

they announce those goals differently

ئه‌وان ئه‌و ئامانجانه‌ به‌جیاوازی ڕاده‌گه‌یه‌نن

and they have a very different relationship with other people.

وه‌ په‌یوه‌ندییه‌كی جیاوازیان .له‌گه‌ڵ كه‌سانی تر هه‌یه‌

Let's begin with the first difference.

.با له‌یه‌كه‌م جیاوازی ده‌ستپێبكه‌ین

A hero sets a goal that can be individually delivered

پاڵه‌وان ئامانج دیارده‌كات كه‌ به‌ته‌نیا وه‌رده‌گیرێت

and neatly measured.

.وه‌ به‌ ڕێكوپێكی ده‌پێورێت

You can recognize a heroic goal --

ده‌كرێت ئامانجی پاڵه‌وانانه‌ دیاركه‌یت

they use terms like "revenue" and "market share"

"زاراوه‌ی وه‌ك "داهات" و "پشكی بازار به‌كارده‌هێنن

and are often competitive.

.وه‌ شایانی پێشبڕكێن

I mean, remember pink-suit day?

ڕۆژی چاكه‌تی په‌مه‌ییتان بیردێته‌وه‌؟

Interdependent leaders, on the other hand,

له‌لایه‌كی تر سه‌ركرده‌ هاوبه‌شه‌كان

start with a goal that's really important,

به‌ ئامانجێك ده‌ستپێده‌كه‌ن كه‌ به‌ڕاستی گرنگه‌

but is actually impossible to achieve by one company or one person alone.

به‌ڵام له‌ڕاستیدا مه‌حاڵه‌ له‌لایه‌ن یه‌ك .كۆمپانیاو تاكه‌كه‌سێك ئه‌نجام بدرێت

I want to give you an example from the clothing industry,

ده‌مه‌وێت نمونه‌یه‌كی پیشه‌سازی جلوبه‌رگتان نیشانده‌م

which produces 92 million tons of waste a year.

Patagonia and Eileen Fisher are clothing manufacturers,

both of them B Corps,

هه‌ردووكیان سه‌ربه‌ گروپی بی كۆرپسن

both of them deeply committed to reducing waste.

They don't see that their responsibility ends

when a customer buys their clothes.

Patagonia encourages you not to buy new clothes from them,

and will repair your old clothes for free.

هه‌روه‌ها به‌خۆڕایی جلوبه‌رگی كۆنه‌ت بۆ .چاكده‌كه‌نه‌وه‌

Eileen Fisher will pay you when you bring back your clothes,

ئلیین فیشه‌ر پاره‌كه‌ت ده‌داته‌وه‌ كاتێك ،جلوبه‌رگ ده‌گه‌ڕێنیته‌وه‌

and either sell them on or turn them into other clothes.

While these two companies are competitive in some ways,

they work together and with others in the industry

to solve shared problems.

They take responsibility for things that happen upstream as well.

Around the world,

،له‌سه‌رتاسه‌ری جیهان

there are around 300 million people who work from home in this industry,

له‌م پیشه‌سازییه‌ نزیكه‌ی 300 ملیۆن كه‌س ،له‌ماڵه‌وه‌ كارده‌كه‌ن

most of them women,

،زۆربه‌یان ئافره‌تن

many of them in very difficult circumstances

with poor lighting,

sewing on buttons and doing detailed stitching.

Until 2014, there was no protection for these workers.

A group of companies got together with a not-for-profit called Nest

to create a set of standards

that's now been adopted by the whole industry.

Once you've seen problems like this, you can't unsee them,

،كاتێك ئه‌و گرفتانه‌ت ده‌بینیت ،ناتوانیت چاوپۆشیان لێبكه‌یت

so you have to ask others to help you to solve them.

كه‌واته‌ بۆیارمه‌تی ده‌بێت داوا له‌كه‌سانی .تربكه‌یت

These folks take interdependence as a given,

ئه‌و خه‌ڵكانه‌ په‌یوه‌ندی هاوبه‌ش ده‌گرنه‌ئه‌ستۆ

and said to me,

،وه‌ك من بیزانم

"We don't compete on human rights."

".پێشبڕكێ له‌سه‌ر مافی مرۆڤ ناكه‌ین"

The second big difference for collaborators

دووه‌م گه‌وره‌ترین جیاوازی بۆ هاوبه‌شه‌كان

is their willingness to declare their goals before they have a plan.

ڕاگه‌یاندنی ئامانجه‌كانیانه‌ به‌ر له‌ .هه‌بوونی پلان

Now the hero only reveals their carefully crafted goal

ئێستا پاڵه‌وان ته‌نیا ئامانجه‌كه‌ی ئاشكراده‌كات

when the path to achieve it is clear.

.كاتێك ڕێگای به‌ده‌ستهێنانی ڕوون بێت

In fact, the role of the hero announcement is to set the stage for the big win.

له‌ڕاستیدا ڕۆڵی ڕاگه‌یاندنی پاڵه‌وان بۆ .به‌ده‌ستهێنانی سه‌ركه‌وتنێكی گه‌وره‌یه‌

Hero announcements are full of triumph.

ڕاگه‌یاندنه‌كانی پاڵه‌وان .پڕاوپڕن له‌سه‌ركه‌وتن

Interdependent leaders, on the other hand,

له‌لایه‌كی تر، سه‌ركرده‌ هاوبه‌شه‌كان

want other people to help them,

،ده‌یانه‌وێت خه‌ڵكی تر یارمه‌تیان بدات

so their announcements are often an invitation for co-creation,

زۆربه‌ی ڕاگه‌یاندنه‌كانیان بانگهێشتن ،بۆ هاوبه‌شی له‌ دامه‌زراندن

and sometimes, they're a call for help.

.وه‌ هه‌ندێكجار، بانگه‌وازی یارمه‌تین

At the North American division of the French food company Danone,

له‌ به‌شی باكوری ئه‌مه‌ریكای كۆمپانیای ،دانۆنی خۆراكی فه‌ڕه‌نسی

I announced that we wanted to become a B Corp.

.گوتم ده‌مانه‌وێت ببین به‌ بی كۆڕپ

And unlike pink-suit day,

،پێچه‌وانه‌ی ڕۆژی چاكه‌تی په‌مه‌یی

I had no plan to get there.

.هیچ پلانێكم نه‌بوو به‌وێنده‌ر بگه‌م

I remember the day really clearly.

.باش ئه‌و ڕۆژم له‌بیره‌

Everybody in the room gasped,

،هه‌مووان له‌ژووره‌كان هوتافیان لێده‌دا

because they knew we didn't have a plan.

.چونكه‌ ده‌یانزانی هیچ پلانێكمان نه‌بوو

But they also knew that we had seen our role

به‌ڵام ده‌شیانزانی ئێمه‌ ڕۆڵی خۆمان بینی

in the river that is the food system,

and we wanted to make a change.

Making that declaration without a plan

meant that so many young people in our company

stepped up to help us,

،ئاماده‌ن یارمه‌تیمان بده‌ن

and B Corps around us all rallied around.

وه‌ بی كۆڕپسیش له‌ده‌وری هه‌موومان .كۆبۆته‌وه

And the day we became a B Corp

وه‌ ئه‌و ڕۆژه‌ی بووین به‌ بی كۆڕپس

wasn't just a self-congratulatory moment of a hero company --

ته‌نیا پیرۆزبایه‌ك نه‌بوو بۆ خودی --پاڵه‌وانی كۆمپانیا

it was more like a community celebration.

.زیاتر وه‌ك ئاهه‌نگگێڕانێكی خێزانی بوو

Now when you gave goals that you can't achieve alone,

ئێستا ئه‌و ئامانجانه‌ی دیارت كردبوون كه‌ ،ناتوانیت به‌ده‌ستیان بێنیت

and you've told everyone about them,

وه‌ له‌لایه‌ن هه‌موو كه‌سێك باسیانت كردوون

inevitably, you'll end up at the third big difference,

،بێگومان ده‌گه‌یته‌ سێیه‌م گه‌وره‌ جیاوازی

which is how you see other people,

ئه‌ویش ئه‌وه‌یه‌ چۆن سه‌یری كه‌سانی ترده‌كه‌ی

inside your company and outside.

.له‌ ناوه‌و ده‌ره‌وه‌ی كۆمپانیا

Heroes see everyone as a competitor or a follower.

پاڵه‌وانان هه‌موو كه‌س وه‌ك ڕكابه‌ر و شوێنكه‌وته‌ ده‌بینن

Heroes don't want input,

،پاڵه‌وانان په‌شداریكردنیان ناوێت

because they want to control everything because they want the credit.

And you can see this in a typical hero meeting.

ئه‌مه‌ش له‌یه‌كه‌م كۆبوونه‌وه‌ی پاڵه‌وانه‌كه‌ ده‌بینیت

Heroes like making speeches.

.پاڵه‌وانان حه‌ز له‌ ووتاردان ده‌كه‌ن

People lean back in their chairs,

خه‌ڵكانێك له‌سه‌ر كورسییه‌كان پاڵده‌نه‌وه‌

maybe impressed but not engaged.

.له‌وانه‌یه‌ سه‌رسامبن به‌ڵام به‌شدارنه‌بن

Interdependent leaders, on the other hand,

.له‌لایه‌كی تر، سه‌ركرده‌ هاوبه‌شه‌كان

understand that they need other people.

.ده‌زانن پێویستیان به‌كه‌سانی تره‌

They know that meetings are not just mindless calendar fillers.

ده‌زانن كۆبونه‌وه‌كان ته‌نیا بۆ .به‌سه‌ربردنی ڕۆژمێره‌كان نییه‌

These are the most precious things you have.

.شتی پڕ به‌هاتر هه‌یه‌

It's where people collaborate and communicate

له‌وشوێنه‌ی خه‌ڵك هه‌ماهه‌نگ و هاوكارو

and share ideas.

.بیرۆكه‌كان ئاڵوگۆڕده‌كات

People lean forward in meetings like this,

له‌م كۆبونه‌وانه‌ خه‌ڵك حه‌زده‌كات ،له‌پێشه‌وه‌ دابنیشێت

wondering where they might fit in.

.پرسارده‌كه‌ن له‌كوێ خۆیان بگونجێنن

When I was in Shanghai in China,

،كاتێك له‌ شه‌نگه‌های بووم له‌ چین

where I lived for six years, running the Kraft Foods business,

بۆماوه‌ی شه‌ش ساڵ بۆ به‌ڕێوه‌بردنی ،كاری خۆراكی كرافت

selling, amongst other things, Oreo cookies,

we had a problem with hero culture.

We kept on launching new products that failed.

And we would find out afterwards

that everyone in the company knew they were going to fail,

they just didn't feel free to tell us.

So we changed the way we ran our innovation and planning meetings

بۆیه‌ شێوازی به‌ڕێوه‌بردنی نوێكاری و پلانه‌كانمان گۆڕی

in two important ways.

First of all, language went back to Chinese.

Because even though everyone spoke great English,

چونكه‌ هه‌رچه‌نده‌ هه‌موو ،به‌ ئینگلیزییه‌كی باش قسه‌یان ده‌كرد

when I was in the room and the meeting was in English,

كاتێك كۆبونه‌وه‌كه ،به‌ئینگلیزی به‌ڕێوه‌ده‌چوو

they focused on me.

فۆكه‌سیان له‌سه‌ر من بوو

And I was the foreigner, and I was the boss

،منیش بیانی بووم و به‌رێوه‌به‌ر بووم

and I apparently had that intimidating hero look.

.شێوه‌ی پاڵه‌وان به‌ڕوونی به‌ڕووم دیاربوو

The second thing

دووه‌م شت

is we asked every single person in the meeting their opinion.

داوای بۆچونی هه‌رتاكێكمان .له‌ كۆبونه‌وه‌كه‌ كرد

And our understanding of the subtleties of the differences

وه‌ تێگه‌یشتنمان له‌ جیاوازییه‌ دیاره‌كان

between American taste and Chinese taste, in this case,

له‌نێوان تاموچێژی ئه‌مه‌ریكی و چینی ،له‌م دۆخه‌دا

really improved,

به‌ڕاستی چاره‌كراوه‌

and our new product success rate radically turned around

ڕێژه‌ی سه‌ركه‌وتنی به‌رهه‌مه‌كانیشمان گۆڕانێكی ڕیشه‌یی دیت

and we launched a lot of winners,

براوه‌ی زۆر ده‌ركه‌وتن

including the now famous green-tea-flavored Oreos.

له‌نێویان بڕاندی به‌ناوبانگی .چای سه‌وزی ئۆریۆس

Hero culture sneaks in everywhere.

كه‌لتوری پاڵه‌وان له‌هه‌مووشوێنێك دزه‌یكرد

At Danone, we had a lot of great stuff happening

له‌ دانۆن ڕوداوی زۆرگه‌و‌رە هاتنه‌ كایه‌وه‌

in one part of the world,

،له‌به‌شێكی ئه‌م جیهانه‌

and we wanted it to spread to another part of the world.

.ده‌مانویست بۆ به‌شێكی تری جیهانی بنێرین

But when you put a person in business gear

به‌ڵام كاتێك كه‌سێك ده‌خه‌یته‌ سه‌ركار

up in front of a group of people with PowerPoint,

،له‌به‌رده‌م كه‌سانێك له‌گه‌ڵ پاوه‌رپۆینت

they have the urge to become sort of heroic.

.پاڵنه‌رێك هه‌یه‌ ببن به‌ پاڵه‌وان

And they make everything look super shiny

هه‌مووشتێك به‌جوانی به‌ده‌ردێخن

and they don't tell the truth.

.ڕاستیش باس ناكه‌ن

And it's not compelling and it's not even interesting.

.جێی ڕه‌زامه‌ندی و ته‌نانه‌ت گرنگیش نییه‌

So, we changed it

بۆیه‌، گۆڕیمان

and we created these full-day marketplaces,

،وه‌ ئه‌و بازاره‌ ڕۆژانه‌یشمان ئاماده‌كرد

kind of like a big bazaar.

.وه‌ك جۆرێك له‌بازاری گه‌وره‌

And everybody was dressed up in costume,

،هه‌ركه‌سه‌و جلوبه‌رگێكی پۆشی بوو

some people a little, some people a lot.

.هه‌ندێك كه‌م، هه‌ندێكیش زۆر

And sellers had to man their stalls

فرۆشیاره‌كانیش پێویست بوو كۆگاكان به‌كارخه‌ن

and sell their ideas as persuasively as possible,

،بیرۆكه‌كانیشیان به‌قه‌ناعه‌ته‌وه‌ بفرۆشن

and people who were convinced bought them with fake check books.

ئه‌وكه‌سانه‌شی باوه‌ڕیان پێ بوو چه‌كی ساخته‌یان بۆده‌كڕین

Creating just a bit of silliness with the environment

دروستكردنی تۆزێك له‌ گه‌مژایه‌تی له‌گه‌ڵ ئه‌م ژینگه‌

and a hat or a scarf

كڵاوێك و ملپێچێك

drops people's guard and causes ideas to spread like wildfire.

دورخستنه‌وه‌ی ئێشكگری خه‌ڵك ده‌بێته‌ هۆی .بڵاوكردنه‌وه‌ی بۆچونه‌كان وه‌ك ئاگر

There's no recipe here,

،هیچ وه‌سفه‌ك لێره‌ نییه‌

but time together has to be carefully curated and created

به‌ڵام پێویسته‌ كاته‌كه‌ پێكه‌وه‌ به‌وردی چاودێری بكرێت

so that people know that their time is valuable and important,

and they can bring their best selves to the table.

Hero culture is present right here in TED.

This whole process makes it look like I think I'm a hero.

So just in case there's any doubt about the point that I'm trying to make,

I want to apply these ideas

in an area in which I have zero credibility

I'm originally South African,

and I'm deeply passionate about wildlife conservation,

most particularly rhinos.

Those majestic creatures with big horns.

Every day, three rhinos are killed,

because there are people who think that those horns are valuable,

even though they're just made of the same stuff

as hair and fingernails.

It breaks my heart.

دڵم ده‌شكێنێ

Like all good recovering heroes,

،وه‌ك هه‌موو پاڵه‌وانێكی چاكبوه‌وه‌

I did everything I could to reduce this goal

هه‌موو شتێكم كرد بۆ كه‌مكردنه‌وه‌ی ئه‌م ئامانجه‌

to something that I could do by myself.

.بۆ شتێك تا بتوانم ئه‌نجامی بده‌م

But clearly, stopping rhino poaching is a goal way too big for me.

به‌ڵام ڕێگری له‌ڕاوكردنی كه‌ركه‌ده‌ن .ئامانجێكی زۆر گه‌وره‌تره‌ بۆمن

So I'm immediately in interdependence land.

.كه‌واته‌ ڕاسته‌وخۆ له‌زه‌وییه‌كی هاوبه‌شم

I'm declaring my goal on this stage.

من ئامانجه‌كه‌م له‌سه‌ر .ئه‌م سته‌یجه‌ ڕاده‌گه‌یه‌نم

I found other people as passionate as I am

ده‌بینم خه‌ڵكی تر وه‌ك من به‌په‌رۆشن

and I've asked if I could join them.

.داوامكردوه‌ په‌یوه‌ندیان پێوه‌بكه‌م

And after today, there may be more.

And we're now in the complex but inspiring process

of learning how to work together.

My dream is that one day, someone will stand on this stage

and tell you how radical interdependence saved my beloved rhinos.

Why does hero culture persist,

and why don't we work together more?

بۆچی زیاتر پێكه‌وه‌ كارنه‌كه‌ین؟

Well, I don't know why everyone else does it,

باشه‌ نازانم بۆ هه‌ركه‌سێكی ،ئه‌نجامی ده‌دات

but I can tell you why I did it.

به‌ڵام پێتان ده‌ڵێم بۆچی ئه‌نجاممدا

Interdependence is a lot harder than being a hero.

.هاوبه‌شی سه‌ختتره‌ له‌ بوون به‌ پاڵه‌وان

It requires us to be open and transparent and vulnerable,

،ده‌بێت كراوه‌و شه‌فاف و لاواز بین

and that's not what traditional leaders have been trained to do.

ئه‌مه‌ ئه‌وه‌ نییه‌ كه‌ سه‌ركرده‌ .كلاسیكیه‌كان له‌سه‌ری ڕاهاتوون

I thought being a hero would keep me safe.

وامزانی بوون به‌ پاڵه‌وان .سه‌لامه‌تم ده‌كات

I thought that in the elevation

له‌ به‌رزاییه‌كه‌ بیرم له‌وه‌ كرده‌وه‌

and separation that comes from heroic leadership,

ئه‌و جیاوازیه‌ی له‌ سه‌ركرده‌یه‌كی پاڵه‌وان ده‌بینرێت

that I would be untouchable.

.به‌رجه‌سته‌ نییه‌

This is an illusion.

.وه‌همێكه‌

The joy and success that comes from interdependence and vulnerability

ئه‌و خۆشییه‌ی له‌ هاوبه‌شی و لاوازی ده‌بینرێت

is worth the effort and the risk.

.شایه‌نی كۆشش و سه‌ركێشییه‌

And if we're going to solve the challenges that the world is facing today,

ئه‌گه‌ریش بمانه‌وێت كێشه‌كانی ،جیهانی ئێستا چاره‌بكه‌ین

we have no alternative,

،هیچ به‌دیلێك نییه‌

so we had better start getting good at it.
