not wanting to rise

نەیەوێت ھەڵبێت

out of bed

لە جێگاکەی

from under that down-feather horizon

لە ژێر پەڕی ئاسۆیا

if the sky grows tired

ئەگەر ئاسمان بە هێواشی بڵاوبێتەوە

of being everywhere at once

لەوەی کە لە ھەمووشوێنێک بێت لە یەک کاتدا

adapting to the mood

خۆی بگونجێنێ لەگەڵ بارودۆخەکە

swings of the weather

بێزاربێت لەو گۆڕانانەی کەش و ھەوا

if clouds drift off

ئەگەرھەورەکان خەویان بێت

trying to hold themselves together

ھەوڵبدەن لەنێوان خۆیان یەکبگرن

make deals with gravity

رێکەوتن بکەن لەگەڵ ھێزی کێشکردنی زەوی

to loiter a little longer

بۆ ئەوەی کەمێک درێژتر ببێتەوە

I wonder if rain is scared

دەپرسم ئەگەر باران ترسابێت

of falling

لە بارین

if she has trouble

ئەگەر کێشەیەکی ھەبێت

letting go

لە ڕاهاتن

if snowflakes get sick

ئەگەر بەفر نەخۆش بکەوێت

of being perfect all the time

لەوەی کە ھەموو کاتێک ھەر باش بێت

each one

ھەرجارێک

trying to be one-of-a-kind

ھەوڵبدات کە میھرەبان بێت

I wonder if stars wish

دەپرسم ئەگەر ئەستێرەکان ھیوا بخوازن

upon themselves before they die

لەسەر خۆیان پێش ئەوەی بمرن

ئەگەر پێویست بکات ئەستێرە بچووکەکان فێربکەن

if they need to teach their young

how to shine

کە چۆن بدرەوشێنەوە

I wonder if shadows long

دەپرسم ئەگەر سێبەرەکان درێژ ببنەوە

to just-for-once feel the sun

بۆ ئەوەی تەنیا جارێک ھەست بە ڕووناکی بکەن

if they get lost in the shuffle

ئەگەر خۆیان وون کرد لە کاتی خۆ رێکخستنەوە

not knowing where they’re from

نەیانزانی کە لە کوێوە ھاتوون

I wonder if sunrise

دەپرسم کە ئەگەر رۆژھەڵاتن

and sunset

و رۆژئاوابوون

respect each other

ڕێزی یەکبگرن

even though they’ve never met

لەگەڵ ئەوەشدا کە هەرگیز یەکیان نەبینیوە

if storms have regrets

ئەگەر ڕەشەبا پەشیمان بێتەوە

if volcanoes get stressed

ئەگەر گڕکانەکان تووشی فشار بن

if compost believes in life

ئەگەر پەینی ڕووەکی باوەڕی بە ژیان ھەبێ

after death

دوای مردن

I wonder if breath ever thinks of suicide

دەپرسم کە ئەگەر ھەناسە ھەرگیز بیری لە خۆکوشتن کردبێتەوە

if the wind just wants to sit

ئەگەر با بیەوێت دابنیشێت

still sometimes

ھێشتان ھەندێک جار

and watch the world pass him by

و سەیری جیھان دەکات کە پێیدا تێدەپەڕێ

if smoke was born

ئەگەر دووکەڵ لە دایک بووبا

knowing how to rise

و بیزانیبا چۆن گەورە دەبێ

if rainbows get shy backstage

ئەگەر پەلکە زێڕینە شەرمی کردبا

not sure if their colors match right

دڵنیا نەبووبا کە ڕەنگەکانی بەتەواوی ڕاستن

I wonder if lightning needs an alarm clock

دەپرسم ئەگەر رووناکی پێوستی بە کات دانانەوە ھەبا

to know when to crack

بۆ ئەوەی بزانێ چ کاتێک کاربکا

if rivers ever stop

ئەگەر روبارەکان بۆ ھەمیشە بوەستن

and think of turning back

و بیر لەوەبکەنەوە کە بگەڕێنەوە دواوە

if streams meet the wrong sea

ئەگەر جۆگەکان دەریایەکی ھەڵە ببینن

and their whole lives run off-track

لە تەواوی ژیانیان ھەر ڕابکەن

I wonder if the snow

دەپرسم ئەگەر بەفر

wants to be black

بیەوێت کە ڕەنگی ڕەش بێت

if the soil thinks she’s too dark

ئەگەر خاک وا بیر بکاتەوە کە زۆر تاریکە

if butterflies want to cover up their marks

ئەگەر پەپولەکان بیانەوێ کە خاڵەکانی سەر لاشەیان دابپۆشن

if rocks are self-conscious of their weight

ئەگەر بەردەکان ئاگاداری کێشی خۆیان بن

if mountains are insecure of their strength

ئەگەر چیاکان ترسیان ھەبێت لە بەھێزی خۆیان

I wonder if waves get discouraged

دەپرسم کە ئەگەر شەپۆلەکان سست ببنەوە

crawling up the sand

و لمەکان بجوڵێن

only to be pulled back again

تەنھا بۆ ئەوەی بگەڕێنەوە دواوە

to where they began

بۆ ئەو شوێنەی کە تێدا دەستی پێ کردووە

if land feels stepped upon

ئەگەر خاک ھەست بکات کە ھەنگاو بەرەو سەرەوە دەنێت

if sand feels insignificant

ئەگەر لم ھەست بکات کە بێ بایەخە

if trees need to question their lovers

ئەگەر دارەکان پێویستیان بەوە بێ پرسیار لە خۆشەویستەکانیان بکەن

to know where they stand

تا بزانن لە کوێوە وەستاون

if branches waver at the crossroads

ئەگەر لقی دارەکان بھەژێن لەسەر جادەکان

unsure of which way to grow

دڵنیا نەبی لەوەی کامە رێگا زیاد دەبێت

if leaves understand they’re replaceable

ئەگەر گەڵاکان تێبگەن لەوەی کە ئەوان جێگرەوەن

and they still dance when the wind blows

و ھێشتان سەما دەکەن لە کاتی ھەڵکردنی با

I wonder

دەپرسم

where the moon goes

مانگ بۆ کوێ دەچێت

when she is in hiding

کاتێک خۆی دەشارێتەوە

I want to find her there

دەمەوێت لەوێ بیدۆزمەوە

and watch the ocean

و سەیری زەریا بکەم

spin from a distance

لە مەودایەک بخولێمەوە

listen to her

گوێی بۆ بگرم

stir in her sleep

بجوڵێم لە نێو خەوەکەی

effort give way to existence

هەوڵدان ڕێگا خۆشکەرە بۆ بوون
