I Dumped Him! | Learn Spoken English Expressions

And in this video, we're going to  talk about an important expression,  

그리고 이번 영상에서는 특히 연애 중인 분들에게

especially for those of you  who are in relationships. 

중요한 표현에 대해 이야기해보겠습니다 .

For those of you who have  a boyfriend or girlfriend. 

남자친구, 여자친구가 있으신 분들을 위해.

And that expression is ‘to dump someone’. ‘to dump someone’ 

그리고 그 표현은 '누군가를 버리다'입니다. '누군가를 버리다'

Well, what do you think that means? Well, for those of you who are in a relationship,  

자, 그게 무슨 뜻이라고 생각하세요? 글쎄요, 연애를 하고 있는 분들이라면

maybe, you're not happy. Hmm 

아마도 행복하지 않을 것입니다. 흠

Maybe you don't love that person anymore, or maybe  that person is just really horrible, really bad. 

어쩌면 당신은 그 사람을 더 이상 사랑하지 않을 수도 있고, 아니면 그 사람이 정말 끔찍하고, 정말 나쁜 것일 수도 있습니다.

So, what do you do? Well, you break up with them. 

그래서 당신은 무엇을 합니까? 글쎄, 당신은 그들과 헤어집니다.

Right, you say, “I don't  want to be with you anymore.” 

맞아요, 당신은 “나는 더 이상 당신과 함께 있고 싶지 않아요”라고 말해요.

And that's where the expression  comes in ‘to dump someone’. 

그리고 바로 '누군가를 버리다'라는 표현이 나오는 곳입니다.

So, when you tell your boyfriend or girlfriend, “I don't want to be with you anymore,” you  

그러므로 당신이 당신의 남자친구나 여자친구에게 “나는 더 이상 당신과 함께 있고 싶지 않아요”라고 말한다면 당신은

are dumping them. Okay, so let's look at these examples first. 

그들을 차버리는 것입니다. 좋습니다. 먼저 이 예를 살펴보겠습니다.

He dumped me. Hmm, he dumped me. 

그는 나를 차버렸다. 흠, 그 사람이 날 버렸어요.

This is a sad situation, right? Maybe my boyfriend didn't love me anymore,  

슬픈 상황이죠? 어쩌면 내 남자친구가 더 이상 나를 사랑하지 않았을 수도 있고,

or maybe I did something that made him angry. So he dumped me. 

아니면 내가 그를 화나게 하는 일을 했을 수도 있습니다. 그래서 그는 나를 버렸습니다.

He doesn't want to be with me any longer. Hmm, ‘I dumped him’. 

그 사람은 더 이상 나와 함께 있고 싶어하지 않아요. 흠, '내가 그 사람을 차버렸어요'.

The next sentence, ‘I dumped him’. This one is not so bad. 

다음 문장은 '나는 그를 차버렸다'. 이것은 그렇게 나쁘지 않습니다.

Maybe my boyfriend was really  bad, or he lied too much. 

어쩌면 내 남자 친구가 정말 나쁜 사람이었을 수도 있고, 거짓말을 너무 많이 했을 수도 있습니다.

So I kicked him. I got rid of him. 

그래서 나는 그를 걷어찼다. 나는 그를 제거했습니다.

I dumped him. Okay. 

나는 그를 차버렸다. 좋아요.

So, let's look at some more  example sentences together. 

그럼, 몇 가지 예문을 더 함께 살펴보겠습니다.

‘She dumped him because he lied to her.’ 

'그가 거짓말을 했기 때문에 그녀는 그를 차버렸다.'

‘She dumped him because he lied to her.’

'그가 거짓말을 했기 때문에 그녀는 그를 차버렸다.'

‘He dumped me I'm so sad.’ 

'그 사람이 나를 버렸어요. 너무 슬퍼요.'

‘He dumped me I'm so sad.’ 

'그 사람이 나를 버렸어요. 너무 슬퍼요.'

Okay, so in this video we learned  the expression ‘to dump someone’. 

자, 이번 영상에서는 'to dump someone'이라는 표현을 배웠습니다.

Remember, you can dump a bad boyfriend or  girlfriend, but they can also dump you. 

당신이 나쁜 남자친구나 여자친구를 버릴 수 있지만 그들이 당신을 버릴 수도 있다는 것을 기억하세요.

Now, I want to tell you about  one of my ex-boyfriends. 

이제 내 전 남자친구 중 한 명에 대해 이야기하고 싶습니다.

He never had time for me. He was always busy. 

그는 나를 위한 시간을 갖지 못했습니다. 그는 항상 바빴습니다.

And he couldn't talk or hang out. So, I had to dump him and it felt great. 

그리고 그는 말을 할 수도, 어울릴 수도 없었습니다. 그래서 나는 그를 버려야했고 기분이 좋았습니다.
