أنني أعرف ما أريد أن أدرسه عندما أتخرج من المدرسة، هل تريد أن تعرف

really of course I want to  know what will you study

حقًا بالطبع أريد أن أعرف ماذا ستدرس

I want to be a teacher just like you  how did you become a great teacher

أريد أن أصبح مدرسًا مثلك تمامًا، كيف أصبحت مدرسًا رائعًا،

thanks for that well it was not easy son

but I think it's important you know this  story how I got to graduate from college

ولكن أعتقد أنه من المهم أن تعرف هذه القصة كيف تخرجت من الكلية

well it all began when I was at the high school  the last year to be exact ly I was not sure about

what I wanted to study then I mean what career  to study so I decided not to study for the moment

I started working hard to save money so I kind  of study a professional career later I had a

lot of different jobs son I was a carpenter  an assistant a bricklayer a seller a waiter

من الوظائف المختلفة يا بني، كنت نجارًا، ومساعدًا، وبنائًا، وبائعًا، ونادلًا

well I had to work hard for some  years but unluckily I couldn't  

حسنًا، كان علي أن أعمل بجد لعدة سنوات ولكن لسوء الحظ لم أتمكن من

save enough money to start studying  it was not easy I had to work all

day to pay the rent wood and many other  different things because I lived alone

but one day that changed I was spending too much  time working and I could never save any money  

ولكن في يوم من الأيام تغير ذلك كنت أقضي الكثير من الوقت في العمل ولم أتمكن أبدًا من توفير أي أموال

I had studied in an Institute I studied  English and then I started teaching English

كنت قد درستها في أحد المعاهد ودرست اللغة الإنجليزية ثم بدأت تدريس اللغة الإنجليزية

but my salary was not so good I didn't  earn enough to pay the University  

ولكن راتبي لم يكن جيدًا ولم أكسب ما يكفي لدفع تكاليف الجامعة

but one day I decided I was going to start  no matter what and maybe you're asking how

ولكن في أحد الأيام، قررت أنني سأبدأ مهما كان الأمر وربما تسألني عن مدى

well I didn't even know how I went to the  admission office and asked for information  

عدم معرفتي حتى كيف ذهبت إلى مكتب القبول وطلبت معلومات

about a career they gave me all the  information it was not cheap at all

حول مهنة أعطوني كل المعلومات، لم تكن رخيصة على

I still didn't know how I was  going to pay for my studies  

الإطلاق ما زلت لا أعرف كيف سأدفع تكاليف دراستي

but I took the exam anyway I mean  the University admission test  

ولكني تقدمت للامتحان على أي حال، أعني اختبار القبول بالجامعة، لقد اجتزت

I passed that test and I got a vacancy I was so  happy even when I didn't know how I would pay

هذا الاختبار وحصلت على وظيفة شاغرة وكنت سعيدًا للغاية حتى عندما لم أكن أعرف كيف سأدفع

Oh but before that I forgot to tell you  before I took my exam I told you I want  

اه لكن قبل ذلك نسيت أن أخبرك قبل إجراء امتحاني أخبرتك أنني أريد

to ask for information well there was a woman  who interviewed me to know my scale of payments

أن أسأل عن معلومات حسنًا، كانت هناك امرأة أجرت مقابلة معي لمعرفة جدول مدفوعاتي،

she asked me a lot of questions questions like  where do you live what do you do for a living  

سألتني الكثير من الأسئلة مثل أين تعيش ماذا تفعل من أجل لقمة العيش،

who are your parents what are your plans  for the future how much do you earn a month

من هم والديك، ما هي خططك للمستقبل، كم تكسب شهريًا،

you know I come from a poor City my parents  are poor and we went through difficult times  

كما تعلم، أنا من مدينة فقيرة، والداي فقراء ومررنا بأوقات عصيبة،

I explained that to the woman who was  interviewing me she was a psychologist

شرحت ذلك للمرأة التي كانت تجري مقابلة معي وكانت طبيبة نفسية

and then she told me something that was  going to change the course of my life  

ثم أخبرتني بشيء سيغير مسار حياتي، أخبرتني أنه

she told me you shouldn't study at this University  

لا ينبغي عليك الدراسة في هذه الجامعة،

you are poor and you don't earn enough  money you should go to a public university

فأنت فقير ولا تكسب ما يكفي من المال، ويجب عليك الذهاب إلى جامعة.

I was like I didn't know what to answer she  continued you better go to a public university  

كنت وكأنني لا أعرف بماذا أجيب، وتابعت أنه من الأفضل أن تذهب إلى جامعة حكومية لأنك

because you won't be able to pay for this one  you will have a lot of problems you can't do it

لن تكون قادرًا على دفع ثمن هذه الجامعة، وسيكون لديك الكثير من المشاكل، ولن تتمكن من فعل ذلك،

I was shocked by what she had told me I always  wanted to go to that University because I knew  

لقد صدمت من خلال ما قالته لي، كنت أرغب دائمًا في الذهاب إلى تلك الجامعة لأنني كنت أعلم

it was one of the best in the country of course it  was not cheap but I wanted to study there anyway

أنها واحدة من أفضل الجامعات في البلاد بالطبع لم تكن رخيصة ولكني أردت الدراسة هناك على أي حال

and when she said you can't do it I felt terrible  I felt that all my dreams were collapsing  

وعندما قالت أنك لا تستطيع القيام بذلك، شعرت بالسوء شعرت أن كل أحلامي كانت تنهار

that day I went to my apartment and I was thinking  about what she had told me I was so depressed

في ذلك اليوم ذهبت إلى شقتي وكنت أفكر فيما قالته لي لقد كنت مكتئبًا للغاية

but then I got angry just because she told me  I couldn't I wasn't going to listen to her am

I right well the next day I went back  to the office and paid to take my test

as I told you before I passed the test and I was  in I was very happy but I still didn't know how I

was going to pay for the University I think that  psychologists motivated me to take that decision

yeah I mean she told me I couldn't do it and  I didn't like what she said so I did it I know  

نعم أعني أنها أخبرتني أنني لا أستطيع فعل ذلك ولم يعجبني ما قالته لذلك فعلت ذلك، أعلم أنني أعلم أن

I know I know that sounds crazy but it really  happened that's how my professional life started

happily I had a credit card the bank had given  to me some months before so I asked for a loan  

بسعادة، كان لدي بطاقة ائتمان أعطاني إياها البنك قبل بضعة أشهر، لذا طلبت قرضًا وأعطوني

and they gave it to me that's how I could pay  the University but it was a lot of money anyway

the money I earned every month wasn't enough  by my second year of college I already owed

the bank a lot of money so I have to find a  solution otherwise I couldn't continue studying

I investigated a lot to find a solution  then I find out that the University was

given a scholarship but this scholarship was  only for the best students in the University

Anna was not the best in fact

when I was at the school I failed maths many times  and I had to go to the summer school to fix it  

عندما كنت في المدرسة، لقد رسبت في الرياضيات عدة مرات واضطررت للذهاب إلى المدرسة الصيفية من أجل أصلح الأمر

I was not a good student but I had to do it this  time I had no option I had to be the best student

، لم أكن طالبًا جيدًا ولكن كان علي أن أفعل ذلك هذه المرة، لم يكن لدي خيار أن أكون أفضل طالب

if I wanted to continue studying I had to  become the best student and have high grades  

إذا أردت مواصلة الدراسة، كان علي أن أصبح أفضل طالب وأحصل على درجات عالية،

it was not easy but I had to do it anyway so I  decided to work really hard to reach that goal

لم يكن الأمر سهلاً ولكن كان علي أن أفعل ذلك على أي حال، لذلك قررت أن أعمل بجد للوصول إلى هذا الهدف

and you know what the worst thing was that I had  to be the best student and work at the same time  

وأنت تعرف ما هو أسوأ شيء حدث لي لأكون أفضل طالب وأعمل في نفس الوقت،

yeah I had to keep working as a teacher to pay  the university the bank loan and all my stuff

نعم كان علي أن أستمر في العمل كمدرس لدفع القرض البنكي للجامعة وجميع أشيائي،

I spent a lot of nights studying hard sometimes  I didn't sleep because I had an important exam  

قضيت الكثير من الليالي في الدراسة الجادة، وفي بعض الأحيان لم أنم لأنه كان لدي شيء مهم الامتحان

the next morning I had to get a perfect score if  I wanted to get that scholarship it was not easy

في صباح اليوم التالي كان علي أن أحصل على درجة كاملة إذا كنت أرغب في الحصول على تلك المنحة، لم يكن الأمر سهلاً،

I didn't eat well remember I lived alone and most  

لم أتناول طعامًا جيدًا، تذكر أنني عشت بمفردي وفي معظم

of the times I didn't have enough  time to cook some healthy food  

الأوقات لم يكن لدي ما يكفي من الوقت لطهي بعض الطعام الصحي،

so I sometimes just fry something to it  or ordered something to eat for delivery

لذلك في بعض الأحيان أقوم بقلي شيء ما أو أطلب شيئًا لأكله للتوصيل

but all those efforts one day ped off seriously  I worked hard and I became the best student in  

ولكن كل هذه الجهود في أحد الأيام تلاشت بجدية، لقد عملت بجد وأصبحت أفضل طالب في

the University I got the scholarship even  when I had always been the worst student

الجامعة، حصلت على المنحة الدراسية حتى عندما كنت دائمًا أسوأ طالب،

can you believe it I graduated  from University and now here I am  

هل يمكنك ذلك؟ صدقني، لقد تخرجت من الجامعة والآن أنا

I am a licensed English teacher I earn enough  money to pay the rent and everything I'm so happy

مدرس لغة إنجليزية مرخص وأكسب ما يكفي من المال لدفع الإيجار وكل شيء، أنا سعيد للغاية،

I just want to tell you that if you want  something to happen don't just wait for it  

أريد فقط أن أخبرك أنه إذا كنت تريد أن يحدث شيء ما، فلا تنتظر فقط لكي

to happen do something about it whatever but  try to do something you can do it I trust you

that story was amazing thank you Dad I  promise I will work hard to reach my dreams
