Today I am going to teach you how to train yourself

اليوم سأعلمكم كيف تدربوا انفسكم

to think in English and thus stop translating in your head.

ان تفكروا باللغه الانجليزيه وهكذا تتوقفون عن الترجمه في رؤوسكم

I have got five steps.

عندي خمس خطوات

They may seem simple at first glance,

قد تبدوا بسيطه او عاديه من اللمحه الاولى

but the devil is in the detail.

ولكن السر او الشئ الاهم في التفاصيل

If you follow these five steps,

اذا اتبعتم هذه الخطوات

you'll be well on your way to thinking completely in English

ستصبحون جيدين بطريقتكم في التفكير باللغه الانجليزيه كليا

with no need for translating in your head.

بدون الحاجه للترجمه في رأسكم

Right, let's get started

حسنا, لنبدأ

with step number one, word identification.

مع الخطوه الاولى (التعرف على وتحديد الكلمات)

So when you're training yourself to think in English

لذلك عندما تدربون انفسكم للتفكير باللغه الاتجليزيه

or any other language,

او اي لغه اخرى

the first thing you should do is start with simple words.

اول شئ يجب عليكم فعله هو البدء بكلمات بسيطه

When we are children learning a language

عندما كنا اطفال , تعلم لغه

for the very first time, we start off with individual words,

للمره الاولى كنا نبدأ بكلمات منفرده

so that's what we're going to do here.

اذا هذا الذي سنفعله هنا

Wherever you are, whenever you become aware of the fact

اينما تكون, متى ما تصبح واعيا بحقيقه

that you have an opportunity to learn some English,

انك لديك الفرصه لتعلم بعض الانجليزيه

you might be on the bus,

قد تكون في الباص

you might be walking somewhere,

قد تكون تمشي في مكان ما

you might be sat at home like a lot of us are at the moment.

قد تكون قاعد في البيت مثل الكثيرين منا في هذه اللحظه

Look around you, what do you see,

انظر حولك, ماذا ترى؟؟

start picking out words from your surroundings.

ابدأ بإلتقاط المفردات او الكلمات من الاشياء المحيطه بك

They'll probably be nouns at first so I can see windows,

ستكون غالبا اسماء اشياء في البدايه, لذلك انا استطيع رؤيته نافذه.

curtains, radiators, boxes 'cause we've just moved.

ستائر, مبرد هوائي, صناديق لأننا انتقلنا توا

If you identify a word that you don't know in English,

اذا تعرفت على كلمه لا تعرفها باللغه الانجليزيه

you're going to need to note it down,

انت تحتاج لتسجلها وتكتبها

but I don't want you to write it down in your own language.

ولكن انا لا اريدك ان تسجلها بلغتك الاصليه

I want you to describe it using the language

انا اريدك ان تصفها مستخدمال اللغه او المفردات

that you do already have.

التي انت تملكها مسبقا(يعني بكلمات بسيطه من اللغه الانجليزيه))

We need to get out of the habit of relying

نحن نحتاج ان نخرج من عادة الاعتماد

on our first language.

على لغتنا الاصليه

At the end of the day,

في نهايه اليوم

look at your new word list and go through Google

انظر لقائمة الكلمات الجديده لديك واذهب لجوجل

in English preferably,

يفضل او من الاحسن باللغه الانجليزيه

trying to work out what all of these things are.

حاول ان تجد ما هي كل هذه الكلمات

Now let's move on to step number two

الان لننتقل للخطوه الثانيه

which is silent narration.

والتي هي (السرد الصامت)

When we're small children, we start with words

عندما كنا صغار بدأنا بالكلمات

and we move on to simple short sentences

وانتقلنا بعد ذلك لجمل بسيطه وقصيره

and then as we grow older they become more complex.

وبعد ذلك وبينما نحن نكبر تصبح جملنا اكثر تعقيدا

It's exactly the same when you learn a second language

هذا بالضبط نفس الشئ عند تعلم لغه ثانويه

or additional language.

او لغه اضافيه

Just like we did in step one,

مثل الذي قمنا بفعله في الخطوه الاولى

I want you to look around but think more about

اريدكم ان تنظروا حولكم وفكروا اكثر ب

what is happening rather than what there is.

الذي يحدث بدلا من الذي يوجد هناك

Narrate what you are doing, what animals are doing,

قم بسرد ماذا تفعل انت , ماذا تفعل الحيوانات,

what is happening around you.

ما الذي يحدث حولك

So this means you're going to start needing to use verbs.

اذا هذا يعني انك ستحتاج للبدء بإستخدام الافعال

Every time you come across something that confuses you,

كل مره تأتي على شئ او تصادف شئ يحيرك

something you don't know how to describe

شئ انت لا تعرف كيفيه وصفه

or narrate in your head,

او سرده في رأسك

انت تحتاج لكتابته لتسأل لديك معلمك او شريكك في اللغه

you need to note it down

to ask your teacher or language partner.

Which brings me on to step three.

والذي يأتي بي إلى الخطوه الثالثه

Step three is daily correction.

الخطوه الثالثه هي (التصحيح اليومي)

You need correction ideally every single day.

انت تحتاج للتصحيح بالطريقه المثاليه كل يوم

It's very, very difficult to learn a language

انه جدا جدا صعب تعلم لغه

to a fluent level without having someone else help you.

لمستوى عال او بطلاقه بدون امتلاك شخص يساعدك

To keep your mind connected to English all the time,

لتبقي عقلك متصل بالانجليزيه طوال الوقت

it is important that you study every day.

انه لمن المهم ان تدرس كل يوم

The best possible way of doing this is taking

افضل طريقه ممكنه لفعل هذا هي اخذ

a proper English class

Let's move on to step four.

Step four is self-conversation.

الخطوه الرابعه هي (المحادثه الذاتيه)

Having conversations with yourself.

خذ محادثه مع نفسك

It sounds like something a crazy person might do,

انه يبدوا كشئ يفعله شخص مجنون

but actually it's not at all crazy, it's very, very useful.

ولكن في الحقيقه انه ليس بشئ مجنون .انه مفيد جدا جدا

This is going to help you practise asking questions

هذا سيساعدك في التدرب على طرح الاسئله

and giving replies.

واعطاء الاجوبه

It's training you to go through the motions

هذا يقوم بتدريبك للذهاب من خلال حركات

of having a conversation in another language.

امتلاك محادثه بلغه اخرى

It seems simple, but you've got to force yourself to do it.

هذا يبدوا بسيطا ولكن يجب عليك ان تجبر نفسك لفعله

Not only is this going to help you

هذا لن يقوم بمساعدتك فقط

train yourself to think in English,

في تدريب نفسك ان تفكر بالانجليزيه

it's also going to help you

ولكنه سيقوم ايضا بمساعدتك

with your general conversation in English.

مع محادثاتك العامه في اللغه الانجليزيه

When you become stuck, don't forget to note it down

عندما تعلق و تتعرقل لا تنسى بان تدون وتكتب ذلك

and then bring it to your teacher

وبعد ذلك احضره لمعلمك

or your language partner

او شريكك في اللغه

and they should be able to help you.

بعد ذلك هم يجب ان يكونوا قادرين على مساعدتك

Now, if you do this enough,

الان اذا كان قمت بهذا بشكل كاف

if you have enough conversations with yourself

اذا كانت لديك ما يكفي من المحادثات مع نفسك

in English or your chosen language,

باللغه الانجليزيه او االلغه التي تختارها

you might find that you start to automatically think

قد تجد انك بدأت اوتوماتيكلي بالتفكير

in English without even trying.

باللغه الانجليزيه بدون حتى ان تحاول

It happens to me in Spanish all the time.

يحدث معي هذا في الاسبانيه طوال الوقت

I was so obsessed with Spanish when I was really

انا كنت مهووسه بالاسبانيه عندما كنت

in the process of learning it.

في عمليه تعلمها

I'm always learning,

انا دائما اتعلم

but when I was really trying to get to that fluent level,

لكن عندما كنت احاول لاصل لمستوى التحدث بطلاقه

I always used to chat to myself in Spanish,

اعتدت انا اتحدث مع نفسي باللغه الاسبانيه

out loud at home and in my head when I was in public.

بصوت مسموع في البيت و في رأسي عندما اكون خارج المنزل

Even now, I've lived away from Spain since 2014 so,

حتى الان , انا عشت بعيده من اسبانيا منذ 2014 اذا

six years (giggling) but I still think in Spanish.

انها 6 سنوات الى الان ولكن انا ما زلت افكر باللغه الاسبانيه

I'm going to talk about this more in step number five,

انا سأتحدث عن هذا أكثر في الخطوه الخامسه

but what you're doing here is mimicking immersion.

ولكن الذي تفعلوه هنا هو (محاكاه الغمر)محاكاه ان تكون منغمس ومحاط باللغه

By always having English going on in your head

بأن تكون دائما اللغه الانجليزيه تسري في عقلك

you are mimicking being in England

انت تحاكي ان تكون مثلا في انجلترا

and having English conversations

وان تخوض محادثه باللغه الانجليزيه

or any other English-speaking country of course

او اي دوله اخرى متحدثه باللغه الانجليزيه

I'm not biassed, well, I totally I'm.

انا لست متحيزه (ل إنجلترا) حسنا, انا متحيزه لانجلترا😅😄

And step number five is actually immersion

والخطوه الخامسه هي في الحقيقه (الانغمار او الانخراط)

or near immersion.

او قرب الانغمار

Full immersion surrounding yourself by English

الانغمار الكلي احاطه نفسك بالانجلش

isn't totally possible for everyone.

هذا ليس مستحيل كليا لكل شخص

The best thing you can do

افضل شئ يمكن القيام به

is get up and go to an English-speaking country,

هو النهوض والذهاب لدوله متحدثه باللغه الانجليزيه

but that's very hard at the moment.

ولكن🤷‍♂️هذا صعب جدا في هذا الوقت

What you've got to do is create a fake England

الذي يجب عليك فعله عو صنع انجلترا مزيفه لنفسك

or America or Canada or Australia around you.

او حتى امريكا, كندا, استراليا...حولك

Start and end the day with your chosen dialect.

ابدأ و أنهي يومك باللهجه التي تختارها(امريكيه او بريطانيه.....)

If you have a TV in your bedroom or a radio in your bedroom

إذا كنت كنت تملك تلفاز او جهاز راديو في غرفه نومك

or even on your smartphone,

او حتى في هاتفك الذكي

set it so that in the morning instead of an alarm,

ضبطه في الصباح بدلا عن استخدام المنبه

a radio switches on.

يشتغل راديو

A radio that has spoken in your chosen dialect.

راديو متحدث باللهجه التي اخترتها

Maybe you could use a VPN to access British morning TV

يمكن ان تستعمل ال VPN لتصل الى التلفزيون الصباحي البريطاني

or American morning TV.

او التلفزيون الصباحي الامريكي

Something that seems very mundane and would be very mundane

هذا شئ قد يبدوا عادي وهو اعتيادي

for native speakers, but mundane is what you want,

للمتحدثين الاصلين باللغه ولكن الاعتياد هو الذي تحتاجه

it's the every day immersion.

انه الغمر اليومي (تحيط نفسك بكل ما يخص اللغه من تلفزيون ,راديوا...)

Another great option is making friends

وهنالك خيار آخر جيد وهو ان تصنع اصدقاء

and speaking with natives.

والتحدث مع السكان الاصلين

Many people find this very difficult,

الكثير من الناس يجدون هذا صعب جدا

which is why I made the video to help you out.

فلهذا انا قمت بذلك الفيديو لاساعدكم

I'll put it up there and I'll also link it

سأضعه اعلى في المقترحات و سأقوم بوضع رابط

in the description box, but in general,

people feel like there are more students wanting

الناس يحسون بأن هنالك عدد اكبر من الطلاب يريدون

to learn English than there are English speakers

تعلم الانجليزيه من عدد المتحدثين بالانجليزيه

wanting to speak to students.

الذين يريدون التكلم مع الطلاب

And this is true, but there are ways around that.

وهذا صحيح ولكن هنالك دائما طرق اخرى

So I really do recommend that video.

لذلك انا حقا انصحكم بمشاهده الفيديو

If you find it really difficult or really anxiety-inducing,

ولكن اذا تجدون التحدث مع متحدث اصلي باللغه صعب او يسبب القلق

then you could set up English nights or English sessions

اذا يمكنكم عمل ليالي انجليزيه او حصص انجليزيه

with your friends or maybe just with yourself.

مع اصدقائكم او يمكن فقط مع انفسكم

It's absolutely fine to continue doing this by yourself.

انه جيد تماما ولا ضرر ان تكملوا فعل هذا بأنفسكم

As I said, it's better to have help,

ولكن كما قلت انه من الافضل ان تحصلو على المساعده

but not everyone wants that.

ولكن ليس كل شخص يريد ذلك

Throw a dinner party in English,

لذا قوموا بعمل حفله عشاء باللغه الانجليزيه مثلا

buy an English cookbook or look at English recipe websites.

او اشتروا كتاب طبخ او ادخلوا موقع لوصفات الطبخ باللغه الانجليزيه

There are loads.

هنالك الكثييير من الكتب و الوصفات

I'll put some recommendations down below.

سأضع مقترحاتي لكم بصندوق الوصف

But BBC Good Food is a great one,

ولكن BBC Good Food خيار جيد

we do a lot of British dishes there.

نحن نقوم بالكثير من الاطباق البريطانيه هناك

Look for chefs like Jamie Oliver,

ايضا ابحثوا عن الطباخين مثل جيمي أوليفر

he does a great 15-minute meals range that are really quick

انه يقوم بأطباق على مدى 15 دقيقه والتي تعتبر حقا سريعه

and easy and supposed to be quite healthy.

وسهله ومن الممكن ان تكون نوعا ما صحيه

Follow the recipe in English.

اتبعوا الوصفه باللغه الانجليزيه

Narrate as you do it,

قم بسرد ما تقوم به لثناء صنعها

identify words around you as you're doing it,

وتعرف على المفردات من حولك اثناء قيامك بالوصفه

and then serve it in English with your friends or not,

وبعد ذلك قدمها باللغه الانجليزيه مع اصدقائك او مع نفسك فقط

and have either real or silent conversation as well.

و قم بمحادثه حقيقيه او محادثه صامته ايضا

Now what will you start noticing?

الان ما الذي تبدأ بملاحظته

How will you know when you're finally

كيف يمكنك معرفه انك أخيرا

able to think in English?

قادر على التفكير باللغه الانجليزيه

One thing I noticed was that I started dreaming in Spanish

شئ واحد أنا لاحظته أنني بدأت أن أحلم باللغه الاسبانيه

and my brain got really confused

وعقلي اصبح حائرا أو محتارا جدا

and I actually started dreaming

و أنا في الحقيقه بدأت أحلم

of my parents talking to me in Spanish.

بوالدي يتكلمان معي بالاسبانيه

It was very odd because it wasn't my mom's voice,

كان هذا غريب جدا لأنه لم يكن صوت أمي في الحلم

but it was my mom's speaking to me in Spanish.

ولكن كانت أمي تتكلم بالاسبانيه

You'll also find yourself understanding jokes and humour,

وأيضا ستجد نفسك تفهم النكت والدعابة

and that's something that's really, really enjoyable.

وهذا شئ ممتع جدا جدا

And you'll also surprise yourself on multiple occasions

وستفاجئ نفسك في مرات عديده

when you realise, oh my God,

عندما تدرك انه يا الهي

I was thinking in that language,

أنا كنت أفكر بتلك اللغه

when you hadn't even tried to

عندما لم تكن تحاول أساسا فعل ذلك

you realise that it's becoming second nature.

فتدرك أنها أصبحت كطبيعه ثانيه

And one of the best things is when you can think of a word

و واحد من أفضل الاشياء هو عندما تبدأ تفكر في كلمة

in the language you're learning,

في اللغه التي تتعلمها

but you can't think of it in your own language.

ولكن لا تستطيع أن تفكر فيها في لغتك الاصليه

That's so weird when that happens,

هذا غريب جدا عندما يحدث

but it really means you're getting somewhere.

ولكن يعني أنك وصلت لمرحله جيده

Your brain is automatically going to the language

لان عقلك يذهب للغه

you're learning first.

التي تتعلمها أولا
