I often have this strange thought

that aliens come down to Earth to check us out.

What we have here is a failure to communicate.

So I look at the concepts, the messages, the images and the terms,

For so many people,

The words we often use to describe it --

The way to fix this failure to communicate

is to start not by talking about the issue,

The people-first approach to climate communications

If you hear a term like "climate change," what pops into your head?

Well, for most people, the answer is "not much."

The language isn't vivid.

What we need is vivid language that everyone gets.

It's remarkable how many people actually confuse climate change

More than four in 10 Americans

to show that climate change is an issue for people like me:
