So my lesson from this last year is,

When it comes to death, there's so much to discuss,

but I want to focus on two aspects:

why talking about and planning your death can help you experience a good death,

So let's start with planning.

If you die leaving a spouse or a domestic partner,

I lost my father in February to a progressive lung disease.

When dad knew his death was imminent,

he had three clear wishes.

And I'm pleased to say that my family were able to support dad's wishes,

but given that I get seasick,

As part of my research, I've been to seminars,

It's different for all of us,

I've been to 10 funerals in the last year,

with a soup ladle.

I have carried, kissed, written on and toasted coffins with a shot of ouzo.

ओझो पेयाचा आस्वाद घेत मी शवपेट्या वाहून नेल्या आहेत.

I have worn all black,

मी सर्व काळे कपडे घातले

all color and a party dress.

सर्व पार्टीत घालतात ते रंगीत कपडे परिधान केले

Despite the vast differences in sendoff,

निरोप सभारंभात जे करणे अनुचित वाटे

despite me being at times out of my comfort zone

मला हे करताना अवघडल्यासारखे झाले

doing something I've never done before,

जे मी पूर्वी कधी केले नाही

I drew comfort from one thing --

knowing that this is what each person would have wanted.

So what do I want?

Well, I like to be organized, so I have the will,

All that is left is planning my sendoff,

फक्त माझ्या जाण्याचे नियोजन बाकी आहे.

a big party, lots of champagne,

एक मोठी पार्टी ,भरपूर शाम्पेन

color, laughter, and of course, music to remember me by.

हास्य विनोद,संगीत जे माझी आठवण ठेवील मागे.
