Let's take a look at the homework. It says fix my five sentences. 

အိမ်စာလေးကြည့်ရအောင်။ ငါ့စာကြောင်းငါးကြောင်းကို ပြင်ပေးတယ်လို့ဆိုတယ်။

I have five sentences here. What's the problem? 

ဒီမှာ စာကြောင်းငါးကြောင်းရှိတယ်။ ပြဿနာကဘာလဲ?

They're missing a word. What word are they missing? 

သူတို့ စကားတစ်ခွန်း လွဲနေတယ်။ သူတို့ ဘာစကားလုံး လွဲနေလဲ။

They're missing a preposition. 

ဝိဘတ်တစ်ခု လွဲနေတယ်။

All right, and you can see the preposition  will come before ‘which’ in each sentence. 

ကောင်းပြီ၊ ဝါကျတစ်ခုစီတွင် 'which' ၏ရှေ့တွင် preposition ကိုသင်တွေ့နိုင်သည်။

So you have to fix the prepositional  phrase using ‘which’ in each sentence. 

ထို့ကြောင့် စာကြောင်းတစ်ခုစီရှိ 'which' ကို အသုံးပြု၍ ဝိဘတ်ကို ပြင်ရပါမည်။

This sentence or these sentences are  in the description below this video.

which preposition to put before ‘which’? Well that's what this lesson is about. 

'which' ရဲ့ရှေ့မှာ ဘယ်ဝိဘတ်ကို ဘယ်လိုသိနိုင်မလဲ ? သြော်..ဒီသင်ခန်းစာက ဘာလဲ။

I’m going to teach you uh the basics. I’m not going to go into an advanced level. 

အ​ခြေခံ​လေး​တွေ သင်​​ပေးမယ်​​နော်​။ ငါ အဆင့်မြင့်တဲ့ အဆင့်ကို မသွားဘူး။

We're just going to keep it as basic because  it's a little new a little tricky grammar here. 

ဤနေရာတွင် အနည်းငယ်ဆန်းကျယ်သော သဒ္ဒါအသစ်ဖြစ်သောကြောင့် ၎င်းကို အခြေခံအဖြစ် ထားရှိပါမည်။

So I’m just going to go slow and  look at look at it at a basic level.

So that's your homework and I am  going to help you out a little more.

These are the prepositions  you need for your homework. 

ဤအရာများသည် သင့်အိမ်စာအတွက် သင်လိုအပ်သော ဝိဘတ်များဖြစ်သည်။

at, in, from, to, of. Now, the order here, and the order here,  

at, in, from, to, of။ ယခု ဤနေရာ၌ အမှာစာနှင့် ဤနေရာ၌ အမှာစာ သည် ကွဲပြားသောကြောင့်၊ ဤအရာများထဲမှ တစ်ခုသည် မည်သည့်အရာတွင် ရှိမည်

it's different, so you've got to figure  out which… which one of these will have at,

All right, let's get into the lesson. Now the prepositional phrases using ‘which’  

ကောင်းပြီ၊ သင်ခန်းစာကိုစကြရအောင်။ အခု 'which' ကို သုံးထားတဲ့ ဝိဘတ် စကားစုတွေ

so I will try to make it as clear as possible

but again this is just a basic, basic video. We're not going to go too much into it.

So what it says here, you need to  know prepositions and collocation. 

ဒီတော့ ဒီမှာ ဘာပြောထားလဲ၊ ဝိဘတ်တွေနဲ့ ပေါင်းစပ်မှုကို သိဖို့လိုတယ်။

There are many other prepositions that can be  paired with which, under, during, about, over,  

အောက်၊ စဉ်၊ အကြောင်း၊ အု စသည်ဖြင့် တွဲစပ်နိုင်သော အခြားသော ဝိဘတ်များစွာ ရှိပါသည်

etc., so going back here, I gave for the homework. I gave common prepositions. 

၊ ထို့ကြောင့် ဤနေရာသို့ ပြန်သွား၍ အိမ်စာအတွက် ပေးလိုက်ပါသည်။ ဘုံဝိဘတ်တွေ ပေးခဲ့တယ်။

I think everyone knows these  prepositions at, in, from, to, of. 

ဒီဝိဘတ်တွေကို at, in, from, to, of လူတိုင်းသိမယ်ထင်ပါတယ်။

That's why I chose kind of easier  prepositions for the homework. 

အဲဒါကြောင့် အိမ်စာအတွက် ပိုလွယ်တဲ့ ဝိဘတ်အမျိုးအစားတွေကို ရွေးလိုက်တယ်။

But keep in mind, that we can make ‘under which’,  ‘during which’, ‘about which’, ‘over which’. 

'အဘယ်အရာ'၊ 'ခန္ဓာငါးပါး'၊ 'အဘယ်အကြောင်း'၊ 'အဘယ်အရာ' ကို ဖန်ဆင်းနိုင်သည်ကို သတိပြုပါ။

There's a lot of prepositions we can use before  ‘which’, so it helps to know prepositions. 

'which' ရှေ့မှာသုံးနိုင်တဲ့ ဝိဘတ်တွေအများကြီးရှိတာကြောင့် ဝိဘတ်တွေကို သိနိုင်စေတယ်။ ဝိဘတ်များစွာကို သင်မသိပါက

If you don't know many prepositions,  you're going to have a difficult time  

ဤဝါကျဖွဲ့စည်းပုံကို အသုံးပြုရန်

using this sentence structure. But again, I think  everyone is familiar with these prepositions. 

ခက်ခဲနေမည်ဖြစ်သည် ။ ဒါပေမယ့် ဒီဝိဘတ်တွေကို လူတိုင်း ရင်းနှီးပြီးသားလို့ ထင်ပါတယ်။

The other issue is collocation. Collocation - this is where we get paired. 

နောက်တစ်ချက်က စုစည်းမှုကိစ္စ။ စုစည်းမှု - ဤနေရာသည် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့ တွဲချိတ်ထားသော နေရာဖြစ်သည်။

Collocation means we have a word  that often goes with another word. 

Collocation ဆိုသည်မှာ ကျွန်ုပ်တို့တွင် အခြားစကားလုံးတစ်ခုနှင့် သွားလေ့ရှိသော စကားလုံးတစ်ခုရှိသည်။

So they're often paired. They go together. 

ဒါကြောင့် သူတို့က တွဲတတ်တယ်။ အတူတူသွားကြတယ်။

So for example, in English, native  speakers will say, “I wash the dishes.” 

ဥပမာအားဖြင့်၊ အင်္ဂလိပ်လို၊ မိခင်ဘာသာစကားဖြင့် “I wash the dish” လို့ပြောပါလိမ့်မယ်။

So ‘wash dishes’ are often  paired. That's collocation. 

ဒါကြောင့် 'ပန်းကန်ဆေးခြင်း' ကို မကြာခဏ တွဲစပ်ပါ။ အဲဒါ စုစည်းမှုပါ။

Native speakers, …I I can say, “I clean the  dishes,” that makes grammatical… grammatical sense  

Native speaker ၊ ငါက သဒ္ဒါနည်းတဲ့ သဒ္ဒါနည်းတဲ့ ” ပန်းကန်တွေကို သန့်ရှင်းရေးလုပ်တယ် ” လို့ ပြောနိုင်ပေမယ့် သဒ္ဒါသဘောအရတော့ '

but native speakers usually don't  say ‘clean the dishes’, we usually  

ပန်းကန်တွေကို သန့်ရှင်းတယ်' လို့ မပြောတတ်

say ‘wash the dishes’. That's collocation. 

ပါဘူး ၊ အဲဒါ စုစည်းမှုပါ။

So you want to sound like a  native speaker use collocation. 

ထို့ကြောင့် သင်သည် မူရင်းစပီကာကဲ့သို့ အသံထွက်လိုပါက collocation ကိုသုံးပါ။

So with the with the sentences, we're going to  talk about in a moment, I’m going to show you  

ဒါကြောင့် စာကြောင်းတွေနဲ့ ပတ်သက်ပြီး ခဏလောက် ပြောတော့မယ်၊

examples. Collocation is very important. You have to know, oh,  

ဥပမာတွေ ပြမယ်။ စုစည်းမှုသည် အလွန်အရေးကြီးပါသည်။ အိုး၊

which preposition goes with this word. And let's take a look at the first sentence. 

ဘယ်ဝိဘတ်က ဒီစကားလုံးနဲ့ တွဲလဲ သိရမယ် ။ ပြီးတော့ ပထမစာကြောင်းကို ကြည့်ရအောင်။

So I have a sentence here. Let's take a look. 

ဒီတော့ ငါ့မှာ စကားတစ်ခွန်းရှိတယ်။ ကြည့်ကြရအောင်။

We were in a dire situation. I have ‘dire’ here. 

ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် ဆိုးရွားသော အခြေအနေတွင် ရှိနေခဲ့သည်။ ငါဒီမှာ 'ဒုက်ခ' ရှိတယ်။

I’m just going to quickly explain that dire means. very very very bad situation. 

ယုတ်မာတဲ့ အဓိပ္ပါယ်ကို အမြန်ရှင်းပြမယ်။ အလွန်ဆိုးရွားသောအခြေအနေ။

We were in a very bad situation.  = We were in a dire situation. 

ကျွန်တော်တို့ အရမ်းဆိုးရွားတဲ့ အခြေအနေမှာ ရှိခဲ့တယ်။ = ငါတို့ ဆိုးရွားတဲ့ အနေအထားမှာ ရှိခဲ့တယ်။

And if you look at the… the purple  part now, this is the collocation. 

ပြီးတော့… အခု ခရမ်းရောင်အပိုင်းကို ကြည့်မယ်ဆိုရင် ဒါက စုစည်းမှုပါ။

I know when I’m talking about a good situation  or a bad situation I know we're always going to  

အခြေအနေကောင်း ဒါမှမဟုတ် မကောင်းတဲ့အခြေအနေအကြောင်း ပြောတဲ့အခါ

use this preposition ‘in’. You're “in a situation.” 

ဒီဝိဘတ်ကို အမြဲသုံးနေမယ်ဆိုတာ သိပါတယ်။ သင် "အခြေအနေ" တွင်ရှိနေပါသည်။

You're not “on a situation.” You're not “at a situation.” 

သင် "အခြေအနေတစ်ခု" မဟုတ်ပါ။ မင်းက “အခြေအနေ” မဟုတ်ဘူး။

I know it's always going to be in a situation. So with that knowledge, I can create this  

အမြဲတမ်း အခြေအနေမှာ ရှိနေမယ်ဆိုတာ ငါသိတယ်။ ဒါကြောင့် ဒီအသိပညာနဲ့

sentence which means the same thing but  we're using our uh prepositional phrase with  

အတူတူပဲလို့ အဓိပ္ပာယ်ရတဲ့ ဒီဝါကျကို ဖန်တီးနိုင်ပေမယ့

which, so I know the situation in  which we found ourselves was dire. 

် ကျွန်တော်တို့ဟာ uh ဝိဘတ်ဆိုတဲ့ စကားစုကို သုံးနေတာ ကြောင့် ကိုယ့်ကိုကိုယ် ဆိုးရွားတဲ့ အခြေအနေကို သိပါတယ်။

All right so I know this preposition will be  ‘in’ because… because of the word situation.

ကောင်းပြီ ဒါကြောင့် ဒီဝိဘတ်ဟာ 'in' ဖြစ်မယ်ဆိုတာ သိပါတယ်... စကားလုံးအခြေအနေကြောင့်ပါ။

Yes, yes, that's how we make the sentence. That's you have to know this collocation to  

ဟုတ်တယ်၊ ဟုတ်တယ်၊ ငါတို့က ဒီဝါကျကို ဖန်တီးတယ်။ ဤ ဝိဘတ်သည် 'in' ဖြစ်သည်ကို သိ

know that this preposition is ‘in’. Let's look at the next one. 

ရန် ဤပေါင်းစပ်မှုကို သိထားရန် လိုအပ်သည် ။ နောက်တစ်ခုကြည့်ရအောင်။

He spoke of politics that day. So speak, past tense, spoke. 

အဲဒီနေ့က နိုင်ငံရေးအကြောင်းပြောခဲ့တယ်။ ဒါကြောင့် ပြောတတ်၊ တိတ်တိတ်၊

Spoke of a topic. This topic is politics. 

ခေါင်းစဉ်တစ်ခုအကြောင်းပြောခဲ့တယ်။ ဤအကြောင်းအရာသည် နိုင်ငံရေးဖြစ်သည်။

Now there are two prepositions we could use,  ‘spoke of’ and the other one is ‘spoke about’. 

ယခုကျွန်ုပ်တို့သုံးနိုင်သော ဝိဘတ်နှစ်ခုရှိသည်၊ 'spoke of' နှင့် နောက်တစ်ခုက 'ပြောပြီ'။

You speak about a topic so there's two. I chose ‘of’. Why? Because it's my video  

ခေါင်းစဉ်တစ်ခုအကြောင်းပြောနေတာ နှစ်ခုရှိတယ်။ ငါ '၏' ကို ရွေးချယ်ခဲ့သည်။ အဘယ်ကြောင့်? ဘာကြောင့်လဲ ဆိုတော့ ဒါက ကျွန်တော့်ရဲ့ ဗီဒီယို

and you have to follow the… the… the  prepositions I want to work with. 

ဖြစ်ပြီး၊ ကျွန်တော် လုပ်ချင်တဲ့ ဝိဘတ်တွေကို လိုက်နာရမှာ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

He spoke of politics that day. So I know when we have a topic,  

အဲဒီနေ့က နိုင်ငံရေးအကြောင်းပြောခဲ့တယ်။ အဲဒီတော့ ခေါင်းစဉ်တစ်ခုရှိတဲ့အခါ

we're going to ‘speak of’. I know the preposition is ‘of’. 

'ပြောမယ်' ဆိုတာကို သိတယ်။ ဝိဘတ်က 'of' ဆိုတာ သိတယ်။

So when I’m creating the ‘which’ sentence here,  the topic of which he spoke was politics, so I  

ဒီတော့ ဒီမှာ 'ဘယ်' ဆိုတဲ့ စာကြောင်းကို ဖန်တီးတဲ့အခါ သူပြောခဲ့တဲ့ ခေါင်းစဉ်က နိုင်ငံရေးမို့လို့

know right away it's ‘of’. Can I say, “The topic  

'of' လို့ ချက်ချင်းသိတယ်။ “ သူပြောခဲ့တဲ့

about which he spoke was politics? Yes, you can. 

အကြောင်းအရာက နိုင်ငံရေးလို့ ပြောလို့ရမလား ။ ဟုတ်ကဲ့။

There's two prepositions when you have a  topic so I could say the topic of which,  

မင်းမှာ အကြောင်းအရာတစ်ခုရှိတဲ့အခါ ဝိဘတ်နှစ်ခုရှိတယ်၊ ဒါကြောင့် ငါပြောရမယ့်အကြောင်းအရာကို ပြောနိုင်တယ်၊

I could say the topic about which. Both are okay.

ဘယ်အကြောင်းအရာကို ပြောနိုင်မလဲ။ နှစ်ယောက်စလုံး အဆင်ပြေပါတယ်။

Where do you speak? Again, ‘speak’, past tense, spoke. 

မင်းဘယ်မှာစကားပြောတာလဲ။ တစ်ဖန် 'စကားပြော', လွန်ကဲသော စကားကို ပြောဆို၏။

I spoke at a noisy party. Okay now it's no longer a  

ဆူညံတဲ့ ပါတီတစ်ခုမှာ စကားပြောခဲ့တယ်။ အခုက အကြောင်းအရာတစ်ခုမဟုတ်တော့ဘူး

topic, uh, we're focusing on the location. Where did you speak at a noisy party and  

၊ တည်နေရာကို အာရုံစိုက်နေပါတယ်။ ဆူညံတဲ့ပါတီမှာ မင်းဘယ်မှာပြောခဲ့တာလဲ၊

I know in English when we're talking about a  location, we always use the preposition ‘at’. 

တည်နေရာတစ်ခုအကြောင်းပြောတဲ့အခါ အင်္ဂလိပ်လိုသိတယ်၊ ဝိဘတ် 'at' ကို အမြဲသုံးတယ်။

Sometimes we use ‘in’ for inside a building but  or inside a classroom but in this case most…  

တစ်ခါတစ်ရံတွင် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် အဆောက်အဦအတွင်း၌သာမက စာသင်ခန်းအတွင်း၌ပါ 'in' ကို အသုံးပြုသော်လည်း ဤအခြေအနေတွင် အများစုမှာ...

most locations are gonna be ‘in’. I’m losing my voice so I spoke at 

နေရာအများစုသည် 'အတွင်း' ဖြစ်လိမ့်မည်။ ကျောင်းမှာပြောခဲ့တဲ့ စည်းဝေးကြီးမှာ စကားပြောနေရင်း

I spoke at a convention I spoke at a school. I spoke at um  

အသံပျောက်သွားတယ် ။ ကွန်ဖရင့်မှာ ဒါမှမဟုတ် အဲဒီလိုမျိုး ပြောခဲ့တယ်

the conference or something like that. So I spoke at a noisy party. 

။ ဒါနဲ့ ဆူညံတဲ့ ပါတီတစ်ခုမှာ စကားပြောခဲ့တယ်။

So I know that that preposition is going to go  with the location so the party at which I spoke  

ဒါကြောင့် အဲဒီဝိဘတ်က တည်နေရာနဲ့ လိုက်သွားမယ်ဆိုတာ ငါသိတယ် ဒါကြောင့် ငါပြောခဲ့တဲ့ ပါတီက

was noisy. I know it's going to be ‘at’. 

ဆူညံနေတယ်။ 'ရောက်မှာ' ဖြစ်မယ်ဆိုတာ ငါသိတယ်။

We drove to a town 50 kilometers away. drove to drive, past tense, drove. 

ကီလိုမီတာ 50 ဝေးတဲ့ မြို့တစ်မြို့ကို ကားမောင်းသွားခဲ့တယ်။ drive to drive, past tense, drive.

You go to you, move to you,  travel to you, drive to. 

မင်းဆီသွား၊ မင်းဆီသွား၊ မင်းဆီသွား၊ မောင်းသွား။

I know it's the preposition ‘to’. We drove to a town 50 kilometers away. 

ဝိဘတ် 'to' လို့ သိတယ်။ ကီလိုမီတာ 50 ဝေးတဲ့ မြို့တစ်မြို့ကို ကားမောင်းသွားခဲ့တယ်။

The town to which we drove was 50 kilometers away. I know it's gonna be ‘to’ because we ‘drive to’. 

ငါတို့မောင်းတဲ့မြို့က ကီလိုမီတာ ၅၀ ဝေးတယ်။ ငါတို့ 'မောင်း' ဆိုတော့ 'to' ဖြစ်မယ်ဆိုတာ ငါသိတယ်။

And the last example here. A little more difficult. 

ပြီးတော့ နောက်ဆုံး ဥပမာက ဒီမှာ။ နည်းနည်းပိုခက်တယ်။

We broke free from the tight chains. So you gotta imagine chains or rope  

တင်းကျပ်တဲ့ သံကြိုးတွေကနေ လွတ်မြောက်ခဲ့ကြတယ်။ ဒါကြောင့် မင်းကို သံကြိုး ဒါမှမဟုတ် ကြိုးတွေနဲ့ ချည်ထားဖို့

tying you together. And you're trapped. 

စိတ်ကူးကြည့်ရမယ် ။ ပြီးတော့ မင်း ပိတ်မိနေတယ်။

And then in English, we say you break free the  tight chains, um, so I know that… that's the com  

ပြီးတော့ အင်္ဂလိပ်လို တင်းတင်းကြပ်ကြပ် ချည်နှောင်ထားတဲ့ သံကြိုးတွေကို လွတ်မြောက်အောင် ခွဲလိုက်တာလို့ ငါတို့သိတယ်... အဲဒါက com ဆိုတဲ့

the preposition here is going to be ‘from’. We break free from. 

ဝိဘတ်က 'မှ' ဖြစ်မယ်။ ငါတို့ကနေ လွတ်မြောက်တယ်။

Uh, you, we could break maybe I’m working  a nine to five job and I’m very sad,  

အိုး၊ မင်းတို့ ငါတို့ အလုပ် ကိုးခုကနေ ငါးခုလောက် လုပ်နေတာ ဖြစ်နိုင်တယ်၊ ငါ အရမ်းဝမ်းနည်းတယ်၊

I can break free from that lifestyle, but it's  always ‘break free from’, so I know it's ‘from’. 

အဲဒီဘဝကနေ လွတ်မြောက်နိုင်တယ်၊ ဒါပေမယ့် အမြဲတမ်း 'လွတ်ကင်းတယ်' ဆိုတော့ အဲဒါက 'ကနေ' ဆိုတာ ငါသိတယ်။

So the chains from which  we broke free we're tight.

ဒီတော့ ငါတို့ လွတ်မြောက်သွားတဲ့ သံကြိုးတွေက ငါတို့ကို တင်းကျပ်နေတယ်။

All right. So  

ကောင်းပါပြီ။ ဒါကြောင့်

I’m going to talk about commas now. Here, I like commas you know from other videos. 

အခု ကော်မာအကြောင်း ပြောမယ်။ ဤတွင်၊ အခြားဗီဒီယိုများမှ သင်သိထားသော ကော်မာများကို ကြိုက်ပါသည်။

So normally I… I… I like to put  commas here and here because ‘the  

ဒါကြောင့် ပုံမှန်အားဖြင့် ငါ… ငါ… ငါ ' အခြေအနေက ဆိုးတယ်' က အဓိကဝါကျ

situation was dire’ is the main sentence. And we're adding some extra information  

မို့ ဒီမှာ ကော်မာထည့်ရတာ ကြိုက်တယ် ။ ထို့အပြင် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် အပိုအချက်အလက်အချို့ကို

but with uh phrasal or prepositional  phrases using which no commas. 

ကော်မာမပါသော uh phrasal သို့မဟုတ် prepositional phrases များဖြင့် ပေါင်းထည့်နေသည်။

That's the rule. We don't put commas if you have ‘in which’. 

အဲဒါ စည်းကမ်း။ သင့်တွင် 'မည်သည်' ရှိပါက ကော်မာမထည့်ပါ။

No commas. I prefer commas, but the rule  

ကော်မာ မရှိပါ။ ကော်မာကို ပိုကြိုက်ပေမယ့် စည်းမျဉ်းက

is no commas so I’m going to teach the rule. I’m going to follow the rule - no commas. 

ကော်မာမဟုတ်တဲ့အတွက် စည်းမျဉ်းကို သင်ပေးမယ်။ စည်းမျဉ်းကို လိုက်နာပါ - ကော်မာ မရှိပါ။

If we have, uh, sentences using just  ‘which’, we're going to use commas,  

အကယ်၍ ကျွန်ုပ်တို့တွင် 'which' ကိုသုံးသောစာကြောင်းများရှိပါက၊ ကော်မာကိုသုံးပါမည်၊

but this video is not talking about just  ‘which’, we're talking about preposition which  

သို့သော် ဤဗီဒီယိုသည် 'which' သက်သက်အကြောင်းပြောနေခြင်းမဟုတ်ပါ၊

these prepositional phrases - no commas. So each sentence here, I did not put a comma. 

ဤဝိဘတ်ပါသောစကားစုများဖြစ်သည့် ဝိဘတ်များ - ကော်မာမရှိပါ။ ဒါကြောင့် စာကြောင်းတစ်ကြောင်းစီကို ကျွန်တော် ကော်မာ မထည့်ခဲ့ပါဘူး။

And you might be thinking, well you know I  understand this sentence Robin and this sentence  

ဒီစာကြောင်းကို Robin နားလည်တယ်၊ ဒီဝါကျက

is a little bit difficult for me to make myself. I understand that as I told you earlier  

ငါ့အတွက် နည်းနည်းခက်တယ် ဆိုတာ မင်း ကောင်းကောင်းတွေးနိုင်တယ်။ စောစောကပြောခဲ့သလိုပဲ

this is a basic video so the  homework is a little bit easier. 

ဒါက အခြေခံဗီဒီယိုတစ်ခုမို့ အိမ်စာလုပ်ရတာ နည်းနည်းပိုလွယ်တယ်ဆိုတာ နားလည်ပါတယ်။

All you have to do with this  homework is add the prepositions. 

ဒီအိမ်စာနဲ့လုပ်ရမှာက ဝိဘတ်တွေကို ထည့်ပါ။

So you got to think about what's  happening, add the prepositions here, and  

ဒီတော့ မင်းဘာတွေဖြစ်နေလဲ စဉ်းစားရမယ်၊ ဒီမှာ ဝိဘတ်တွေကို ပေါင်းထည့်ပြီး
