ನಮಸ್ಕಾರ, ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳೇ. ದೈನಂದಿನ ಇಂಗ್ಲೀಷ್ ಹೋಮ್‌ವರ್ಕ್‌ಗೆ ಸುಸ್ವಾಗತ.

Let's take a look at the homework. It says fix my five sentences. 

ಮನೆಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ನೋಡೋಣ. ನನ್ನ ಐದು ವಾಕ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಸರಿಪಡಿಸಿ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ.

I have five sentences here. What's the problem? 

ಇಲ್ಲಿ ನನಗೆ ಐದು ವಾಕ್ಯಗಳಿವೆ. ಸಮಸ್ಯೆ ಏನು?

They're missing a word. What word are they missing? 

ಅವರು ಒಂದು ಪದವನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರು ಯಾವ ಪದವನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ?

They're missing a preposition. 

ಅವರು ಪೂರ್ವಭಾವಿ ಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

All right, and you can see the preposition  will come before ‘which’ in each sentence. 

ಸರಿ, ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರತಿ ವಾಕ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ 'ಯಾವುದು' ಮೊದಲು ಬರಲಿದೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ನೀವು ನೋಡಬಹುದು.

So you have to fix the prepositional  phrase using ‘which’ in each sentence. 

ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನೀವು ಪ್ರತಿ ವಾಕ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ 'ಯಾವುದು' ಅನ್ನು ಬಳಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಪೂರ್ವಭಾವಿ ಪದಗುಚ್ಛವನ್ನು ಸರಿಪಡಿಸಬೇಕು.

This sentence or these sentences are  in the description below this video. 

ಈ ವಾಕ್ಯ ಅಥವಾ ಈ ವಾಕ್ಯಗಳು ಈ ವೀಡಿಯೊದ ಕೆಳಗಿನ ವಿವರಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿವೆ.

You copy them, you put in the prepositions,  post it in a new comment, I will check it.

which preposition to put before ‘which’? Well that's what this lesson is about. 

'ಯಾವುದು' ಮೊದಲು ಯಾವ ಉಪನಾಮವನ್ನು ಹಾಕಬೇಕೆಂದು ನನಗೆ ಹೇಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತು? ಸರಿ, ಈ ಪಾಠದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ.

I’m going to teach you uh the basics. I’m not going to go into an advanced level. 

ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಮೂಲಭೂತ ಅಂಶಗಳನ್ನು ಕಲಿಸಲು ಹೋಗುತ್ತೇನೆ. ನಾನು ಮುಂದುವರಿದ ಹಂತಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಲು ಹೋಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

We're just going to keep it as basic because  it's a little new a little tricky grammar here.

So I’m just going to go slow and  look at look at it at a basic level. 

ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ನಾನು ನಿಧಾನವಾಗಿ ಹೋಗುತ್ತೇನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅದನ್ನು ಮೂಲಭೂತ ಮಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ನೋಡುತ್ತೇನೆ.

So that's your homework and I am  going to help you out a little more.

These are the prepositions  you need for your homework.

at, in, from, to, of. Now, the order here, and the order here,  

ನಲ್ಲಿ, ರಲ್ಲಿ, ಇಂದ, ಗೆ, ಆಫ್. ಈಗ, ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಆರ್ಡರ್, ಮತ್ತು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಆರ್ಡರ್,

it's different, so you've got to figure  out which… which one of these will have at,  

ಇದು ವಿಭಿನ್ನವಾಗಿದೆ, ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನೀವು ಯಾವುದನ್ನು ಲೆಕ್ಕಾಚಾರ ಮಾಡಲೇಬೇಕು… ಇವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವುದು,

All right, let's get into the lesson. Now the prepositional phrases using ‘which’  

ಸರಿ, ಪಾಠಕ್ಕೆ ಬರೋಣ. ಈಗ 'ಯಾವುದು' ಅನ್ನು ಬಳಸುವ ಪೂರ್ವಭಾವಿ ಪದಗುಚ್ಛಗಳು

is… I get a lot of questions from students about  this and so that's why I’m making this video. 

... ನಾನು ಈ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಂದ ಬಹಳಷ್ಟು ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತೇನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅದಕ್ಕಾಗಿಯೇ ನಾನು ಈ ವೀಡಿಯೊವನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ.

so I will try to make it as clear as possible  

ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಾನು ಅದನ್ನು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾದಷ್ಟು ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟಪಡಿಸಲು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ

but again this is just a basic, basic video. We're not going to go too much into it. 

ಆದರೆ ಮತ್ತೊಮ್ಮೆ ಇದು ಕೇವಲ ಮೂಲಭೂತ, ಮೂಲಭೂತ ವೀಡಿಯೊವಾಗಿದೆ. ನಾವು ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಹೋಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

So what it says here, you need to  know prepositions and collocation. 

ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಏನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ, ನೀವು ಪೂರ್ವಭಾವಿ ಸ್ಥಾನಗಳನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು collocation ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು.

There are many other prepositions that can be  paired with which, under, during, about, over,  

ಇನ್ನೂ ಅನೇಕ ಪೂರ್ವಭಾವಿಗಳನ್ನು ಜೋಡಿಸಬಹುದು, ಅದರ ಅಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ, ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ, ಬಗ್ಗೆ, ಮೇಲೆ,

etc., so going back here, I gave for the homework. I gave common prepositions. 

ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ, ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿ, ನಾನು ಮನೆಕೆಲಸಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ನೀಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ನಾನು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಪೂರ್ವಭಾವಿಗಳನ್ನು ನೀಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ.

I think everyone knows these  prepositions at, in, from, to, of. 

ಈ ಪೂರ್ವಭಾವಿಗಳನ್ನು ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ತಿಳಿದಿದೆ ಎಂದು ನಾನು ಭಾವಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ, ನಲ್ಲಿ, ಇಂದ, ಗೆ.

That's why I chose kind of easier  prepositions for the homework. 

ಅದಕ್ಕಾಗಿಯೇ ನಾನು ಹೋಮ್ವರ್ಕ್ಗಾಗಿ ಸುಲಭವಾದ ಪೂರ್ವಭಾವಿಗಳನ್ನು ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಮಾಡಿದೆ.

But keep in mind, that we can make ‘under which’,  ‘during which’, ‘about which’, ‘over which’. 

ಆದರೆ ನೆನಪಿನಲ್ಲಿಡಿ, ನಾವು 'ಯಾವ ಅಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ', 'ಯಾವ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ', 'ಯಾವುದರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ', 'ಯಾವುದರ ಮೇಲೆ' ಮಾಡಬಹುದು.

There's a lot of prepositions we can use before  ‘which’, so it helps to know prepositions. 

'ಯಾವುದು' ಮೊದಲು ನಾವು ಬಳಸಬಹುದಾದ ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಪೂರ್ವಭಾವಿಗಳಿವೆ, ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಇದು ಪೂರ್ವಭಾವಿಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಯಲು ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ. ನಿಮಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಪೂರ್ವಭಾವಿ ಸ್ಥಾನಗಳು ತಿಳಿದಿಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದರೆ,

If you don't know many prepositions,  you're going to have a difficult time  

ಈ ವಾಕ್ಯ ರಚನೆಯನ್ನು ಬಳಸಲು ನೀವು ಕಷ್ಟಕರ ಸಮಯವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುತ್ತೀರಿ

using this sentence structure. But again, I think  everyone is familiar with these prepositions. 

. ಆದರೆ ಮತ್ತೊಮ್ಮೆ, ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬರೂ ಈ ಪೂರ್ವಭಾವಿಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಪರಿಚಿತರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ನಾನು ಭಾವಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.

The other issue is collocation. Collocation - this is where we get paired. 

ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ವಿಷಯವೆಂದರೆ ಕೊಲೊಕೇಶನ್. ಕೊಲೊಕೇಶನ್ - ಇಲ್ಲಿ ನಾವು ಜೋಡಿಯಾಗುತ್ತೇವೆ.

Collocation means we have a word  that often goes with another word. 

ಕೊಲೊಕೇಶನ್ ಎಂದರೆ ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಪದವಿದೆ, ಅದು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಪದದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತದೆ.

So they're often paired. They go together. 

ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವರು ಆಗಾಗ್ಗೆ ಜೋಡಿಯಾಗಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅವರು ಒಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಾರೆ.

So for example, in English, native  speakers will say, “I wash the dishes.” 

ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಉದಾಹರಣೆಗೆ, ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ, ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಭಾಷಿಕರು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ, "ನಾನು ಭಕ್ಷ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ತೊಳೆಯುತ್ತೇನೆ."

So ‘wash dishes’ are often  paired. That's collocation. 

ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ 'ವಾಶ್ ಡಿಶ್'ಗಳು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಜೋಡಿಯಾಗಿರುತ್ತವೆ. ಅದು ಕೊಲೊಕೇಶನ್.

Native speakers, …I I can say, “I clean the  dishes,” that makes grammatical… grammatical sense  

ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಭಾಷಿಕರು, …II ಹೇಳಬಹುದು, "ನಾನು ಭಕ್ಷ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ವಚ್ಛಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ," ಅದು ವ್ಯಾಕರಣದ... ವ್ಯಾಕರಣದ ಅರ್ಥವನ್ನು ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ

but native speakers usually don't  say ‘clean the dishes’, we usually  

ಆದರೆ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಭಾಷಿಕರು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ 'ಭಕ್ಷ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ವಚ್ಛಗೊಳಿಸಿ' ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ನಾವು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ

say ‘wash the dishes’. That's collocation. 

'ಭಕ್ಷ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ತೊಳೆಯಿರಿ' ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಅದು ಕೊಲೊಕೇಶನ್.

So you want to sound like a  native speaker use collocation. 

ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನೀವು ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಸ್ಪೀಕರ್ ಬಳಕೆ ಕೊಲೊಕೇಶನ್‌ನಂತೆ ಧ್ವನಿಸಲು ಬಯಸುತ್ತೀರಿ.

So with the with the sentences, we're going to  talk about in a moment, I’m going to show you  

ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ವಾಕ್ಯಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ, ನಾವು ಒಂದು ಕ್ಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಲಿದ್ದೇವೆ, ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ

examples. Collocation is very important. You have to know, oh,  

ಉದಾಹರಣೆಗಳನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಕೊಲೊಕೇಶನ್ ಬಹಳ ಮುಖ್ಯ. ನೀವು ತಿಳಿದಿರಬೇಕು, ಓಹ್,

which preposition goes with this word. And let's take a look at the first sentence. 

ಈ ಪದದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಯಾವ ಉಪನಾಮವು ಹೋಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಮತ್ತು ಮೊದಲ ವಾಕ್ಯವನ್ನು ನೋಡೋಣ.

So I have a sentence here. Let's take a look. 

ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ವಾಕ್ಯವಿದೆ. ಒಂದು ನೋಟ ಹಾಯಿಸೋಣ.

We were in a dire situation. I have ‘dire’ here. 

ಸಂದಿಗ್ಧ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದೆವು. ನನಗೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿ 'ಡೈರ್' ಇದೆ.

I’m just going to quickly explain that dire means. very very very bad situation. 

ನಾನು ಬೇಗನೆ ವಿವರಿಸಲು ಹೋಗುವ ಬಾಗುತ್ತೇನೆ ಘೋರ ಅರ್ಥ. ತುಂಬಾ ತುಂಬಾ ಕೆಟ್ಟ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ.

We were in a very bad situation.  = We were in a dire situation. 

ನಾವು ತುಂಬಾ ಕೆಟ್ಟ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದೆವು. = ನಾವು ವಿಷಮ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದೆವು.

And if you look at the… the purple  part now, this is the collocation. 

ಮತ್ತು ನೀವು ಈಗ ... ನೇರಳೆ ಭಾಗವನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದರೆ, ಇದು ಕೊಲೊಕೇಶನ್ ಆಗಿದೆ.

I know when I’m talking about a good situation  or a bad situation I know we're always going to  

ನಾನು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ ಅಥವಾ ಕೆಟ್ಟ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡುವಾಗ ನನಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತು ನಾವು ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ

use this preposition ‘in’. You're “in a situation.” 

ಈ ಪೂರ್ವಭಾವಿ 'ಇನ್' ಅನ್ನು ಬಳಸುತ್ತೇವೆ ಎಂದು ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿದೆ. ನೀವು "ಒಂದು ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದೀರಿ."

You're not “on a situation.” You're not “at a situation.” 

ನೀವು "ಸನ್ನಿವೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ" ಇಲ್ಲ. ನೀವು "ಸನ್ನಿವೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ" ಇಲ್ಲ.

I know it's always going to be in a situation. So with that knowledge, I can create this  

ಅದು ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ಒಂದು ಸನ್ನಿವೇಶದಲ್ಲಿರುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿದೆ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಆ ಜ್ಞಾನದಿಂದ, ನಾನು ಈ ವಾಕ್ಯವನ್ನು ರಚಿಸಬಹುದು

sentence which means the same thing but  we're using our uh prepositional phrase with  

ಅಂದರೆ ಅದೇ ಅರ್ಥ ಆದರೆ ನಾವು ನಮ್ಮ ಉಹ್ ಪೂರ್ವಭಾವಿ ಪದಗುಚ್ಛವನ್ನು ಬಳಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇವೆ

which, so I know the situation in  which we found ourselves was dire. 

, ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಾವು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕಂಡುಕೊಂಡ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿಯು ಭಯಾನಕವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿದೆ.

All right so I know this preposition will be  ‘in’ because… because of the word situation.

ಸರಿ ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಈ ಉಪನಾಮವು 'ಇನ್' ಎಂದು ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿದೆ ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ... ಪದದ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿಯ ಕಾರಣದಿಂದಾಗಿ.

Yes, yes, that's how we make the sentence. That's you have to know this collocation to  

ಹೌದು, ಹೌದು, ನಾವು ವಾಕ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹೇಗೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಈ ಪೂರ್ವಭಾವಿ 'ಇನ್' ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಯಲು

know that this preposition is ‘in’. Let's look at the next one. 

ನೀವು ಈ ಕೊಲೊಕೇಶನ್ ಅನ್ನು ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು . ಮುಂದಿನದನ್ನು ನೋಡೋಣ.

He spoke of politics that day. So speak, past tense, spoke. 

ಅಂದು ಅವರು ರಾಜಕೀಯದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ಹಿಂದಿನ ಕಾಲ, ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು.

Spoke of a topic. This topic is politics. 

ಒಂದು ವಿಷಯದ ಕುರಿತು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು. ಈ ವಿಷಯ ರಾಜಕೀಯ.

Now there are two prepositions we could use,  ‘spoke of’ and the other one is ‘spoke about’. 

ಈಗ ನಾವು ಬಳಸಬಹುದಾದ ಎರಡು ಪೂರ್ವಭಾವಿಗಳಿವೆ, 'ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ' ಮತ್ತು ಇನ್ನೊಂದು 'ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ'.

You speak about a topic so there's two. I chose ‘of’. Why? Because it's my video  

ನೀವು ಒಂದು ವಿಷಯದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತೀರಿ ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಎರಡು ಇವೆ. ನಾನು 'ನ' ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಮಾಡಿದೆ. ಏಕೆ? ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಇದು ನನ್ನ ವೀಡಿಯೊ

and you have to follow the… the… the  prepositions I want to work with. 

ಮತ್ತು ನಾನು ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಲು ಬಯಸುವ ಪೂರ್ವಭಾವಿ ಸ್ಥಾನಗಳನ್ನು ನೀವು ಅನುಸರಿಸಬೇಕು.

He spoke of politics that day. So I know when we have a topic,  

ಅಂದು ಅವರು ರಾಜಕೀಯದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು. ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ನಾವು ಒಂದು ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವಾಗ,

we're going to ‘speak of’. I know the preposition is ‘of’. 

ನಾವು 'ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತೇವೆ' ಎಂದು ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿದೆ. ಪೂರ್ವಪದವು 'ನ' ಎಂದು ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿದೆ.

So when I’m creating the ‘which’ sentence here,  the topic of which he spoke was politics, so I  

ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ನಾನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ 'ಯಾವ' ವಾಕ್ಯವನ್ನು ರಚಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡುವ ವಿಷಯವು ರಾಜಕೀಯವಾಗಿದೆ, ಹಾಗಾಗಿ

know right away it's ‘of’. Can I say, “The topic  

ಅದು 'ನ' ಎಂದು ನನಗೆ ತಕ್ಷಣವೇ ತಿಳಿದಿದೆ. ನಾನು ಹೇಳಬಹುದೇ, “

about which he spoke was politics? Yes, you can. 

ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ವಿಷಯ ರಾಜಕೀಯವೇ? ಹೌದು, ನೀನು ಮಾಡಬಹುದು.

There's two prepositions when you have a  topic so I could say the topic of which,  

ನೀವು ಒಂದು ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವಾಗ ಎರಡು ಪೂರ್ವಭಾವಿಗಳಿವೆ ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಾನು ಯಾವ ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ಹೇಳಬಲ್ಲೆ,

I could say the topic about which. Both are okay.

ನಾನು ಯಾವ ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ಹೇಳಬಲ್ಲೆ. ಎರಡೂ ಪರವಾಗಿಲ್ಲ.

Where do you speak? Again, ‘speak’, past tense, spoke. 

ನೀವು ಎಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತೀರಿ? ಮತ್ತೆ, 'ಮಾತು', ಹಿಂದಿನ ಕಾಲ, ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು.

I spoke at a noisy party. Okay now it's no longer a  

ನಾನು ಗದ್ದಲದ ಪಾರ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದೆ. ಸರಿ ಈಗ ಇದು ವಿಷಯವಲ್ಲ

topic, uh, we're focusing on the location. Where did you speak at a noisy party and  

, ಉಹ್, ನಾವು ಸ್ಥಳದ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೇಂದ್ರೀಕರಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಗದ್ದಲದ ಪಾರ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೀವು ಎಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ್ದೀರಿ ಮತ್ತು

I know in English when we're talking about a  location, we always use the preposition ‘at’. 

ನಾವು ಸ್ಥಳದ ಕುರಿತು ಮಾತನಾಡುವಾಗ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿದೆ, ನಾವು ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ 'at' ಎಂಬ ಉಪನಾಮವನ್ನು ಬಳಸುತ್ತೇವೆ.

Sometimes we use ‘in’ for inside a building but  or inside a classroom but in this case most…  

ಕೆಲವೊಮ್ಮೆ ನಾವು ಕಟ್ಟಡದ ಒಳಗೆ ಆದರೆ ಅಥವಾ ತರಗತಿಯ ಒಳಗೆ 'ಇನ್' ಅನ್ನು ಬಳಸುತ್ತೇವೆ ಆದರೆ ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನವು...

most locations are gonna be ‘in’. I’m losing my voice so I spoke at 

ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳು 'ಇನ್' ಆಗಿರುತ್ತವೆ. ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಧ್ವನಿಯನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಾನು

I spoke at a convention I spoke at a school. I spoke at um  

ಶಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಸಮಾವೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ನಾನು ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಥವಾ ಅಂತಹದ್ದೇನಾದರೂ

the conference or something like that. So I spoke at a noisy party. 

ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ . ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ಗದ್ದಲದ ಪಾರ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ.

So I know that that preposition is going to go  with the location so the party at which I spoke  

ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ಆ ಪೂರ್ವಭಾವಿ ಸ್ಥಾನದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಲಿದೆ ಎಂದು ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿದೆ ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ನಾನು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಪಕ್ಷವು

was noisy. I know it's going to be ‘at’. 

ಗದ್ದಲದಂತಿತ್ತು. ಅದು 'ನಲ್ಲಿ' ಆಗಲಿದೆ ಎಂದು ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿದೆ.

We drove to a town 50 kilometers away. drove to drive, past tense, drove. 

ನಾವು 50 ಕಿಲೋಮೀಟರ್ ದೂರದ ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ಓಡಿದೆವು. ಓಡಿಸಲು ಓಡಿಸಿದರು, ಹಿಂದಿನ ಉದ್ವಿಗ್ನತೆ, ಓಡಿಸಿದರು.

You go to you, move to you,  travel to you, drive to. 

ನೀವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತೀರಿ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತೀರಿ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಿಸಿ, ಓಡಿಸಿ.

I know it's the preposition ‘to’. We drove to a town 50 kilometers away. 

ಇದು 'ಟು' ಎಂಬ ಪೂರ್ವಭಾವಿ ಎಂದು ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿದೆ. ನಾವು 50 ಕಿಲೋಮೀಟರ್ ದೂರದ ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ಓಡಿದೆವು.

The town to which we drove was 50 kilometers away. I know it's gonna be ‘to’ because we ‘drive to’. 

ನಾವು ಓಡಿಸಿದ ಊರು 50 ಕಿಲೋಮೀಟರ್ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿತ್ತು. ನಾವು 'ಡ್ರೈವ್' ಮಾಡುವುದರಿಂದ ಅದು 'ಗೆ' ಆಗಲಿದೆ ಎಂದು ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿದೆ.

And the last example here. A little more difficult. 

ಮತ್ತು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊನೆಯ ಉದಾಹರಣೆ. ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕಷ್ಟ.

We broke free from the tight chains. So you gotta imagine chains or rope  

ನಾವು ಬಿಗಿಯಾದ ಸರಪಳಿಗಳಿಂದ ಮುಕ್ತರಾಗಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನೀವು ಸರಪಳಿಗಳು ಅಥವಾ ಹಗ್ಗಗಳು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಒಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಜೋಡಿಸುವುದನ್ನು

tying you together. And you're trapped. 

ಕಲ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು . ಮತ್ತು ನೀವು ಸಿಕ್ಕಿಬಿದ್ದಿದ್ದೀರಿ.

And then in English, we say you break free the  tight chains, um, so I know that… that's the com

Uh, you, we could break maybe I’m working  a nine to five job and I’m very sad,  

ಓಹ್, ನೀವು, ನಾವು ಮುರಿಯಬಹುದು ಬಹುಶಃ ನಾನು ಒಂಬತ್ತರಿಂದ ಐದು ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ ಮತ್ತು ನಾನು ತುಂಬಾ ದುಃಖಿತನಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ನಾನು

I can break free from that lifestyle, but it's  always ‘break free from’, so I know it's ‘from’. 

ಆ ಜೀವನಶೈಲಿಯಿಂದ ಮುಕ್ತನಾಗಬಲ್ಲೆ, ಆದರೆ ಅದು ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ 'ಬ್ರೇಕ್ ಫ್ರೀ' ಆಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ, ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ಅದು 'ಇಂದ' ಎಂದು ನನಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿದೆ.

So the chains from which  we broke free we're tight.

ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಾವು ಮುರಿದುಹೋದ ಸರಪಳಿಗಳು ನಾವು ಬಿಗಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದೇವೆ.

All right. So  

ಸರಿ. ಹಾಗಾಗಿ

I’m going to talk about commas now. Here, I like commas you know from other videos. 

ನಾನು ಈಗ ಅಲ್ಪವಿರಾಮಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿ, ಇತರ ವೀಡಿಯೊಗಳಿಂದ ನಿಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿರುವ ಅಲ್ಪವಿರಾಮಗಳನ್ನು ನಾನು ಇಷ್ಟಪಡುತ್ತೇನೆ.

So normally I… I… I like to put  commas here and here because ‘the  

ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ನಾನು... ನಾನು... ನಾನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಅಲ್ಪವಿರಾಮಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಕಲು ಇಷ್ಟಪಡುತ್ತೇನೆ ಏಕೆಂದರೆ 'ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ

situation was dire’ is the main sentence. And we're adding some extra information  

ಭೀಕರವಾಗಿತ್ತು' ಎಂಬುದು ಮುಖ್ಯ ವಾಕ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ. ಮತ್ತು ನಾವು ಕೆಲವು ಹೆಚ್ಚುವರಿ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಸೇರಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇವೆ

but with uh phrasal or prepositional  phrases using which no commas. 

ಆದರೆ ಉಹ್ ಫ್ರೇಸಲ್ ಅಥವಾ ಪೂರ್ವಭಾವಿ ಪದಗುಚ್ಛಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ಅಲ್ಪವಿರಾಮಗಳನ್ನು ಬಳಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

That's the rule. We don't put commas if you have ‘in which’. 

ಅದು ನಿಯಮ. ನೀವು 'ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ' ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದರೆ ನಾವು ಅಲ್ಪವಿರಾಮಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಕುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.

No commas. I prefer commas, but the rule  

ಅಲ್ಪವಿರಾಮಗಳಿಲ್ಲ. ನಾನು ಅಲ್ಪವಿರಾಮಗಳಿಗೆ ಆದ್ಯತೆ ನೀಡುತ್ತೇನೆ, ಆದರೆ ನಿಯಮವು

is no commas so I’m going to teach the rule. I’m going to follow the rule - no commas. 

ಅಲ್ಪವಿರಾಮವಲ್ಲ ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನಾನು ನಿಯಮವನ್ನು ಕಲಿಸಲಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ನಾನು ನಿಯಮವನ್ನು ಅನುಸರಿಸಲಿದ್ದೇನೆ - ಅಲ್ಪವಿರಾಮಗಳಿಲ್ಲ.

If we have, uh, sentences using just  ‘which’, we're going to use commas,  

ನಾವು ಕೇವಲ 'ಯಾವುದನ್ನು' ಬಳಸುವ ವಾಕ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದರೆ, ನಾವು ಅಲ್ಪವಿರಾಮಗಳನ್ನು ಬಳಸಲಿದ್ದೇವೆ,

but this video is not talking about just  ‘which’, we're talking about preposition which  

ಆದರೆ ಈ ವೀಡಿಯೊ ಕೇವಲ 'ಯಾವುದು' ಎಂಬುದರ ಕುರಿತು ಮಾತನಾಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ನಾವು

these prepositional phrases - no commas. So each sentence here, I did not put a comma. 

ಈ ಪೂರ್ವಭಾವಿ ಪದಗುಚ್ಛಗಳ ಪೂರ್ವಭಾವಿಯಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇವೆ - ಅಲ್ಪವಿರಾಮಗಳಿಲ್ಲ. ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ವಾಕ್ಯಕ್ಕೂ ನಾನು ಅಲ್ಪವಿರಾಮ ಹಾಕಿಲ್ಲ.

And you might be thinking, well you know I  understand this sentence Robin and this sentence  

ಮತ್ತು ನೀವು ಯೋಚಿಸುತ್ತಿರಬಹುದು, ನಾನು ಈ ವಾಕ್ಯವನ್ನು ಅರ್ಥಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ ಎಂದು ನಿಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿದೆ ರಾಬಿನ್ ಮತ್ತು ಈ ವಾಕ್ಯವು

is a little bit difficult for me to make myself. I understand that as I told you earlier  

ನನ್ನನ್ನು ನಾನು ಮಾಡಲು ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಕಷ್ಟಕರವಾಗಿದೆ. ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಮೊದಲೇ ಹೇಳಿದಂತೆ

this is a basic video so the  homework is a little bit easier.

ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನೀವು ಏನಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ ಎಂಬುದರ ಕುರಿತು ಯೋಚಿಸಬೇಕು, ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಪೂರ್ವಭಾವಿಗಳನ್ನು ಸೇರಿಸಿ ಮತ್ತು
