안녕하세요 존 벌써 자고 있는 줄 알았는데 괜찮아요

I know I'm not your father and I  don't pretend to be I just want to

listen I want to tell you a story it happened  to me when I was your age please listen to me

봐 내가 네 나이 때 나에게 일어났던 일을 얘기하고 싶어 내 말 좀 들어봐 알았어

okay say whatever you want but  then leave I don't like you at all

원하는 대로 말하고 떠나 난 너를 전혀 좋아하지 않아

I was just a kid when my parents got divorced  at the beginning it affected me a lot  

난 어렸을 때 부모님이 이혼하셨을 때 처음에는 그게 나에게 많은 영향을 줬어

I was sad all day every day I missed my father  so much but then then I understood why my  

매일매일 슬펐어 아버지가 너무 보고 싶었는데 그제서야 엄마가 왜 그러기로 했는지 이해가 됐어

mom had decided to get divorced my parents  used to fight a lot when they were together  

이혼하세요 부모님은 함께 있을 때 많이 싸웠고

and all I remember was them fighting every day my  mom used to be angry all the time and sometimes  

기억나는 건 매일 싸웠다는 것뿐이에요 엄마는 항상 화를 내고 때로는

she cried at nights I couldn't understand  why back then but now I get it they didn't  

밤에 울기도 했어요 그때는 왜 그랬는지 이해가 안 됐는데 지금은 알겠어요

get along anymore I suppose they didn't love  each other anymore so after they got divorced  

더 이상 사이가 안 좋았나 봐요. 서로 사랑하지 않게 됐나 봐요. 그래서 이혼하고 나서

my mom was sad because of us but then she  started working even harder than before

엄마는 우리 때문에 서운해 하다가 전보다 더 열심히 일하기 시작했어요.

anyway my brother and I missed my dad so much  the first six months and my mom was also sad and  

어쨌든 오빠와 저는 아빠가 너무 보고 싶었어요. 6개월이 지나고 엄마도 슬퍼했고

at the beginning we thought it was because of my  father but no it was because she was worried about  

처음에는 아버지 때문인 줄 알았는데 아니

us my siblings and me she had to work all day so  she wasn't at home for us she woke up very early  

우리 남매들이 걱정되어서였죠. 하루 종일 일을 해야 해서 집에 없었어요. 아주 일찍 일어나서

and made breakfast and lunch for us we also helped  her in the little storage she had and that is how  

우리를 위해 아침과 점심을 준비했습니다. 우리는 또한 그녀가 가지고 있는 작은 창고에서 그녀를 도왔습니다. 그래서

we spent our days trying to improve our lives my  mom woke up at about four in the morning every

day because she had to go to buy the products  for her story I think they were cheaper at that

time of the day then she worked in the store  from six in the morning to seven in the evening

then she used to sell food in her store to earn  more money of course we needed the money so much  

물론 더 많은 돈을 벌기 위해 가게에서 음식을 팔곤 했습니다. 돈이 너무 필요했고

and my mom didn't earn much money with the store  so she used to be out until 10 or 11 in the night

엄마는 가게에서 돈을 많이 벌지 못했기 때문에 밤 10시나 11시까지 밖에 계시곤 했어요.

we try to help her of course but it was not enough  we were only children we couldn't get a good job  

물론 도와주려고 노력했지만 충분하지 않았어요. 좋은 직업을 얻지 못해서

so we helped her where we could we also try to  sell some things but it was never enough never

우리는 그녀를 도와서 물건을 팔려고도 했지만 그것만으로는 충분하지 않았습니다.

one day we went to her store and we saw our  mom with a man it was one of my mom's friend  

어느 날 그녀의 가게에 가서 엄마가 남자와 함께 있는 것을 봤습니다. 그것은 우리 엄마 친구 중 한 명이었습니다.

we knew him well we had met him like  four or five years ago in the church

I greeted the man and then I went to the  school I liked my mom was happy again  

남자에게 인사하고 학교에 갔어요 엄마가 다시 행복해하셨다고

at least for a moment she told us he was just her  friend and we were fine with that we believed her

but she didn't smile anymore I felt terrible  was it my fault what is wrong with this man  

더 이상 웃지 마 정말 기분이 나빴어 이 남자가 왜 잘못됐나 내 잘못인가 그 사람

didn't I like him his personality so I started  thinking about that then I realized it was only  

성격이 마음에 들지 않아서 생각하기 시작했는데 그게 단지

a tantrum yeah it didn't make any sense at  all my mom was happy and I didn't want that

and he wouldn't come soon so they couldn't be  together anymore I felt terrible I didn't know

what to do I had destroyed my mom's life she was  happy with that man and I didn't let her be happy

he had traveled to another country because my  mother had told him they couldn't be together  

because of me and my brother I felt terrible again

I try to find a man through internet but I  

couldn't find him years later he  came back from his trip to Europe

he came back to visit my mom I saw him when I  went to my mother's store they were there talking

난 네 아버지가 되고 싶지 않아 난 단지 네 친구가 되고 싶어 나에게 기회를 줄 수 있겠니

well I suppose I can give you a chance I  will do it for my mom I want her to be happy
