5 Most Common English Mistakes and How To Fix Them!

Today we're doing five of the "Oh my god these are so common!" mistakes in English

so if you make these mistakes don't worry, you're normal, but today we're gonna fix them

It's in that word

this mistake is the difference between remember and remind

هذا الخطأ هو الفرق بين تذكر وتذكير

both words talk about memory

كلتا الكلمتين تتحدث عن الذاكرة

but don't make the mistake of using one when you need the other

ولكن لا تخطئ في استخدام واحدة عندما تحتاج إلى الأخرى.

Here's an example

هذا مثال

When you see someone and you're trying to think of their name

عندما ترى شخصًا ما وتحاول التفكير في اسمه

"What is your name?"

"ما اسمك؟"

If you don't have a memory of that person

إذا لم يكن لديك ذاكرة لهذا الشخص ،

you would say "I don't remember you"

فستقول "لا أتذكرك" ، "

"Remember" means to have a memory of something or someone

تذكر" تعني أن يكون لديك ذكرى لشيء ما أو شخص ما

if someone gives you the memory of something

إذا أعطاك أحدهم ذكرى شيء ما

makes you remember a thing

يجعلك تتذكر شيئًا

then you use the verb "Remind" not "Remember"

"Oh you're my mum! Sorry! Thanks for reminding me! I'm so stupid!"

in other situations for example you need to buy donuts

you're with your friend, you want to say:

"Please make me remember that I need to buy donuts!"

you would say to that friend:

So, that mistake from before, let's correct that!

We wouldn't say "This REMEMBERS me of Spring"

You would say:

The next very common mistake is this one:

Sometimes we all need money

في بعض الأحيان نحتاج جميعًا إلى المال

And if you are that one friend who always asks this, DON'T!

وإذا كنت ذلك الصديق الوحيد الذي يسأل هذا دائمًا ، فلا تفعل!

because there's a mistake in that sentence

لأن هناك خطأ في تلك الجملة.

Which is the mistake word?

ما هي كلمة الخطأ؟

Can you see it?

It's this one

we wouldn't say "Can you BORROW ME some money"

لن نقوله "هل يمكنك أن تقترض مني بعض المال"

that's the mistake

هذا هو الخطأ

why is it a mistake?

لماذا هو خطأ؟

there are two words

هناك كلمتان

"To LEND" something you are giving something

"لتستعير" شيئًا ما تعطيه شيئًا

"To BORROW" means to take

"للاقتراض" يعني أن تأخذ

Example? Example!

مثالاً؟ مثال!

She wants money

تريد المال

so how can she ask for it?

فكيف تطلبه؟

well she can say in two different ways

حسنًا ، يمكنها أن تقول بطريقتين مختلفتين

depending on which subject she uses

اعتمادًا على الموضوع الذي تستخدمه.

Remember "LEND" means "to give" so "Can YOU lend me...?"

تذكر أن كلمة "LEND" تعني "إعطاء" لذلك "هل يمكنك إقراضي ...؟"

"Can you give me...?"

"هل يمكن ان تعطيني...؟"

so the question is "Can you lend me some money?"

لذا فإن السؤال هو "هل يمكنك إقراضي بعض المال؟"

Can you give me (for a short time) some money?

هل يمكنك إعطائي بعض المال (لفترة قصيرة) ؟

If the subject is "I", "Can I...?"

إذا كان الموضوع هو "أنا" ، "هل يمكنني ...؟"

Well now we want to TAKE, right?

حسنًا ، نريد أن نأخذ ، أليس كذلك؟

so "Can I..."

لذلك "هل يمكنني ..."

"Can I borrow some money?"

Notice here that with LEND, you must have that object pronoun

Lend me, lend him, lend he

with borrow, no, that's fine, no object pronoun here

Again with LEND, you must have that object pronoun

Remember, after the verb LEND, you must have that object pronoun YOU

Maybe your teeth are hurting, and every time you...

This mistake I think is more common in Latin languages

because the word sensible is what's called a "False friend"

لأن كلمة "منطقي" هي ما يسمى "صديق زائف"

we have the word in English but it doesn't mean the same thing

لدينا الكلمة باللغة الإنجليزية ولكنها لا تعني نفس الشيء

when your feelings are stronger than usual

then you wouldn't say SENSIBLE, you would say...

SENSITIVE "My teeth are SENSITIVE"

if your feelings, for example, are quite strong and a sunset can make you cry or

When you are "sensible" it means you're doing something with wisdom

I've heard students sometimes say

there's a difference between "fun" and "funny" this is it:

When a situation an event an activity makes you feel happy

You're like "This is good, I like this!"

you're smiling, everything is great!

"Fun" so if you want to do something that makes you smile
