so if you make these mistakes don't worry, you're normal, but today we're gonna fix them

"This remembers me of spring"

Can you see the mistake?

It's in that word

就在那个词里（“记住” “remember”）

this mistake is the difference between remember and remind

这个错误源于 “remember” 和 “remind” 之间的差异

both words talk about memory

这两个词都与“记忆” “记住”相关

but don't make the mistake of using one when you need the other

但是请勿将两者弄混

Here's an example

例如

When you see someone and you're trying to think of their name

你看到某人，然后试着去回忆起那个人的名字

"What is your name?"

“你叫什么名字来着？”

If you don't have a memory of that person

要是你根本不记得那个人

you would say "I don't remember you"

你可能会说 "I don't remember you"

"Remember" means to have a memory of something or someone

“Remember” 的意思是记得某个人或者某件事

if someone gives you the memory of something

要是某个人点醒了你

makes you remember a thing

让你记起了一件事

then you use the verb "Remind" not "Remember"

那么你应该用动词 “Remind” 而非 “Remember”

"Oh you're my mum! Sorry! Thanks for reminding me! I'm so stupid!"

“哦，你是我老妈啊！抱歉！谢谢提醒！我真是太傻了！”

in other situations for example you need to buy donuts

在其他的情景下，例如，你要买一些甜甜圈

you're with your friend, you want to say:

你和朋友在一起，你又想说：

"Please make me remember that I need to buy donuts!"

“请等会儿让我记起来我要买一些甜甜圈”

you would say to that friend:

你也许会对你的朋友说这样一句话：

"Please REMIND me! REMIND me to buy donuts"

"Please REMIND me! REMIND me to buy donuts"

So, that mistake from before, let's correct that!

之前的那个错误，现在就让我们一起来把它纠正过来！

We wouldn't say "This REMEMBERS me of Spring"

我们不会去说 "This REMEMBERS me of Spring"

You would say:

你会这样说：

"This REMINDS me of Spring!"

"This REMINDS me of Spring!"

(In a manly sexy handsome voice) "Ahh, Spring!"

（成熟性感的嗓音）“啊，春光烂漫！”

The next very common mistake is this one:

下一个挺常见的错误是：

Sometimes we all need money

我们都有继续用钱的时候

And if you are that one friend who always asks this, DON'T!

要是你的哪位朋友总是用这样的问句的话，那还是别借给那个人好了！

because there's a mistake in that sentence

因为这句话中出现了一个错误

Which is the mistake word?

哪个词错了？

Can you see it?

发现了吗？

It's this one

we wouldn't say "Can you BORROW ME some money"

我们不会去说 "Can you BORROW ME some money"

that's the mistake

这就是个错误

why is it a mistake?

为什么这是个错误呢？

there are two words

这两个单词

"To LEND" something you are giving something

"To LEND" something 是指你把东西给出去

"To BORROW" means to take

"To BORROW" 意思是把东西接过来

Example? Example!

例子在此

She wants money

她需要一笔钱

so how can she ask for it?

她应该怎么表达呢？

well she can say in two different ways

她有两种表达方式

depending on which subject she uses

而这又取决于她所用的主语

Remember "LEND" means "to give" so "Can YOU lend me...?"

还记得 “LEND” 表示借出吗？所以 "Can YOU lend me...?"

"Can you give me...?"

"Can you give me...?"

so the question is "Can you lend me some money?"

所以问句是 "Can you lend me some money?"

Can you give me (for a short time) some money?

Can you give me（稍稍停顿）some money?

If the subject is "I", "Can I...?"

如果主语是 “I”，那么问句格式为 "Can I...?"

Well now we want to TAKE, right?

我们是需要得到的一方，对吧

so "Can I..."

因此要用 "Can I..."

"Can I borrow some money?"

"Can I borrow some money?" 我能借些钱吗？

Notice here that with LEND, you must have that object pronoun

请注意这里的LEND，这个谓语代词不可缺少

Lend me, lend him, lend he

Lend me借给我, lend him借给他, lend her借给她

with borrow, no, that's fine, no object pronoun here

但是要是borrow，这儿就没有谓语代词

I mean, you can

我的意思是，你可以这样来使用

"Can I borrow blah blah from you" ...from him ...from her

"Can I borrow blah blah from you" ...from him ...from her “我能向你借些什么东西吗”…向他/她

Again with LEND, you must have that object pronoun

但是用LEND的时候，你必须带上谓语代词

with BORROW, you can, it's better without

用BORROW的时候，可以带上，但是最好不要

Example: your friend needs some money

例如：你的朋友需要钱

you want to offer that money

你想提供那份钱

what is your question?

你应该怎么表达你的问题？

"Don't worry, I'm a good friend! I can...

"Don't worry, I'm a good friend! I can... 别担心，我可是你老铁！我能……

GIVE (for a short time)

给（短促地）

"I can lend some money"

"I can lend some money" 我能借一些钱

Is there a mistake here?

where's the mistake?

Remember, after the verb LEND, you must have that object pronoun YOU

记住，在动词LEND后面，必须带上谓语代词YOU

I can LEND YOU some money

I can LEND YOU some money 我能借钱给你

Maybe your teeth are hurting, and every time you...

也许你牙疼不止，每次你……

...touch them... Ouch! It really hurts!

……碰到它们的时候……妈呀！疼！

So in this case, what do you want to say?

这种情况下，你该说些什么呢？

My teeth are so sensible?

我的牙齿太明智（sensible）了？

This mistake I think is more common in Latin languages

我认为这种错误在拉丁语系（的使用者）中更常见

because the word sensible is what's called a "False friend"

这个单词sensible被称作“False friend”

we have the word in English but it doesn't mean the same thing

英语中又对应的单词但是往往又不表示同一个意思

when your feelings are stronger than usual

当你的感受比平常更强烈的时候

then you wouldn't say SENSIBLE, you would say...

你不应该用SENSIBLE，你应该使用……

SENSITIVE "My teeth are SENSITIVE"

SENSITIVE "My teeth are SENSITIVE" 我的牙齿太敏感啦

if your feelings, for example, are quite strong and a sunset can make you cry or

例如，当你的情感强烈，日落能让你为之哭泣

a movie just makes you cry or looking at puppies on Instagram makes you cry

I just love golden retrievers!

again the same example: "You are sensitive"

同样的：“你太敏感（sensitive）了”

When you are "sensible" it means you're doing something with wisdom

而你很“明智（sensible）”，这句话的意思是，你做事情都带着智慧

you're doing it in the wise way the smart way

你正以一种智慧聪明的方法做着某事

for example

It's dinner time, you're hungry!

晚餐时间到了，你饿了！

which meal do you choose?

你会选择什么食物呢？

a salad or a donut?

沙拉，还是甜甜圈？

well of course your mother would tell you that the donut...

当然啦，你妈会告诉你说甜甜圈……

it's not a good idea,

并不是一个好主意，

it's not the smart thing to do

这样做是不够聪明的

the salad however,

但是沙拉呢

is the sensible option

就是个明智（sensible）的选择

so if she wants to say I'm going to make the smart wise decision

那么要是她想说“我要做一个聪明智慧的决定”

I'll be sensible and eat a salad! who eats a salad?!

我会很明智，然后吃下沙拉！谁会吃沙拉啊？！

Forget your salad

忘了那盘沙拉吧

the next mistake is actually a question that I get very often in the summer

接下来的这个错误，事实上这个夏天我已经碰到这个问题很多次了

it's "What's the difference between 'shade' and 'shadow'?

它就是“ ‘shade’和‘shadow’有什么区别 ？”

Are they the same thing?

它们是同样的东西吗？

Well kind of

有些相似

it's better if I explain in a different way

and the final mistake is this one:

I've heard students sometimes say

我听到过学生这样说

"I want to do something funny, let's do something funny!"

“我要找乐子，我们去找乐子吧！”（funny）

there's a difference between "fun" and "funny" this is it:

“fun”和“funny”是有差别的，差别就在于：

When a situation an event an activity makes you feel happy

某个场景、事件或者活动让你感到开心

You're like "This is good, I like this!"

你就会像这样“还不错，我挺喜欢的！”

you're smiling, everything is great!

你在微笑，每件事都棒极了！

then that situation is...

那么这样的场景就是……

"Fun" so if you want to do something that makes you smile

“有趣的（fun）”，因此要是你想做一些让你微笑的事

then you should say let's do something...

你那个该说“我们去做一些……”

"FUN" not "FUNNY"

“有趣的事吧”（fun，而不是funny）

In short: FUN :)

简单地来讲：FUN（棒棒哒）

FUNNY: HAHAHAH! LOL

FUNNY：你太tm逗了！

for example

例如

If your donut comes to life,

要是你的甜甜圈活了过来

tells you a joke and makes you laugh

给你讲了个笑话让你大笑不止

Then you can say this:

你应该如是说：

"Oh donut! You're so funny!

“哦，甜甜圈！你太有趣了！”

You really make me laugh, you you're so funny! You should be a comedian!"

你真的让我笑了，你太有趣了（funny）！你应该当一个喜剧演员去！

Now you've learned five things and you will never make a mistake with them again!
