In this lesson, I'll go over five common idioms

في هذا الدرس ساقدم لكم خمس تعابير اصطلاحية مشهورة

that sound very similar,

تبدو متشابهة جدا فيما بينها

their meaning is also very similar.

ومعناها ايضا متشابه

They're all about change.

كلها تتمحور حول التغيير

But the way that we use each of them in English

ولكن الطريقة التي نستخدم كل منها في الانجليزية

is a little different.

مختلفة قليلا

In some of my previous lessons like this one,

and what strategies you can use to learn them

وما هي الاستراجية التي يمكن ان تتبعها لتتعلمهم

and remember them.

وتتذكرهم

Idioms can be a little tricky to learn

التعابير الاصطلاحية قد تكون صبعة قليلا للتعلم

but they're fun to use and they definitely make English

لكن من الممتع استخدامها وبشكل اكيد تجعل لغتك الانجليزية

more interesting and more entertaining.

أكثر إثارة للاهتمام وأكثر تسلية.

This lesson is an advanced lesson,

هذه الدرس هو درس متقدم

one that will teach you the subtle differences

وسيعلمك الفروق الدقيقة

between some very similar idioms.

بين بعض التعابير الاصطلاحية المتشابهة

It will help you to use them correctly and sound

و سيساعدك على استخدامهم بشكل صحيح

more natural like a native English speaker.

وبشكل فصيح اكثر مثل المتحدثيين الاصليين

Now my advice with learning idioms is always to think

والان نصيحتي مع تعلم التعابير الاصطلاحية هي دائما أن تفكر

about a situation in your own life

حول موقف بحياتك

where the meaning of the idiom is relevant

حين يكون معني التعبير الاصطلاحي مناسب

so you can associate the idiom

لذا يمكنك ربط التعبر الاصطلاحي

with a memory or an experience that you have.

مع ذاكرتك او التجربة التي لديك

It's going to help you to remember the idiom

سوف يساعدك على تذكر التعبير الاصطلاحي

but it will also mean you can use the idiom

ولكن ذلك يعني انك تستطيع استخدامه أيضا

whenever you talk about

في اي وقت تتحدث فيه عن

that memory or that experience in English.

تلك اللحظة او التجربة بالانجليزية

Super cool, right?

رائع جدا , أليس كذلك ؟

Okay so in this lesson we're focusing on idioms

حسنا في هذا الدرس نحن سنركز على التعابير الاصطلاحية

with the word change.

مع كلمة "تغيير"

Now something my dear dad used to tell me

إعتاد والدي العزيز أن يقول لي في بعض الأحيان أن

is that change is the only constant in life.

'التغيير هو الثابت الوحيد في الحياة'

It's the one thing that stays the same.

إنّه الشيء الوحيد الذي يبقى نفسه

Everything around us is changing.

كل شيء حولنا يتغير

Our lives change, we change.

حياتنا تتغير , نحن نتغير

So these idioms are super relevant and helpful

اذا هاته التعابير الاصطلاحية متصلة بالموضوع ومفيدة جدا

so that you can express yourself.

حتى تتمكن من ان تعبر عن نفسك

When we move to a new house or we start a new job,

عندما ننتقل إلى بيت جديد او عندما نبدأ عمل جديد

we meet new people, things change.

نقابل اشخاص جدد . الاشياء تتغير

As we grow older, we change.

عندما نتقدم في العمر , نحن نتغير

As certain things happen in our lives,

كما عندما تحدث اشياء محددة في حياتنا

we also change.

نحن ايضا نتغير

Change isn't always easy

التغيير دائما ليس سهل

but being able to talk about it in English should be.

ولكن يجب علينا ان نكون قادرين على التكلم عنه بالانجليزية

So let's start with

اذا دعونا نبدأ ب

'to change your mind'

"لتغير رأيك"

Now it's a common one,

الان انها عبارة شائعة

one that you've probably heard before.

من المحتمل انك سمعتها من قبل

It's used when you make a decision

انها تستعمل عندما تتخذ قرارا

or you form an opinion

او تشكل رأيا

that's different to the one that you first had.

مختلف عن الرأي الذي إتخذته في البداية

I was going to travel to Europe in September

كنت سأسسافر الى اوربا في سبيتمبر

but I've changed my mind,

ولكن قد غيرت رأيي

I'm going to go Asia instead.

سأذهب الى أسيا بدلا عن ذلك

When I first met Paul, I thought he was odd

عندما قابلت بول لاول مرة , إعتقدت انه كان غريب

but now that I've got to know him a little better,

ولكن الان بعد أن تعرفت عليه أكثر قليلاً

I've changed my mind!

لقد غيرت رأيي

I think he was probably just shy when I first met him.

أعتقد أنه من المحتمل كان خجول بعض الشيء عندما قابلته لأول مرة

Have you changed your mind about something recently?

هل قمت بتغيير رأيك حول شيء ما مؤخرا

Perhaps about a holiday

ربما بخصوص العطلة

or maybe even your plans for the weekend.

او ربما حتى عن خططك لعطلة نهاية الاسبوع

Perhaps you've changed your mind about somebody,

من المحتمل انك غيرت رأيك عن شخص ما

you've changed your opinion about them.

او قد غيرت رأيك عنه

If you can think of something tell me about it,

اذا كان بمقدوركم التفكير في شيئ ما فأخبروني بخصوصه

write a sentence in the comments

أكتب جملة في التعليقات

so I can check it for you.

حتى استطيع التحقق منها

Maybe you always wanted to study in America

ربما انت كنت دائما تريد ان تدرس في أمريكا

but now you've decided you want to study in Australia.

ولكن الان قد قررت انك تريد الدراسة في إستراليا

Perhaps you've changed your mind.

من المحتمل انك قد غيرت رأيك

So that was 'change your mind'.

اذاً كان هذا "تغيير رأيك"

What about 'to change your tune'

ماذا عن "تغيير نغمتك"

or a 'change of heart'?

او "تغيير في القلب "؟

'a change of scene'

"تغيير في المشهد"

'a change of pace'

"تغيير في التقدم"

Now all of these idioms are similar

الان كل هذه العبارات الاصطلاحية متشابهة

but the way that we use them is slightly different,

ولكن الطريقة التي نستخدمهم بها مختلفة بعض الشيء

something that you need to understand

شيئ انت بحاجة لفهمه

and you need to pay attention to

والانتباه له

if you want to sound

اذا أردت ان تبدو

natural when you're speaking English.

طبيعي عندما تتحدث الانجليزية

'To change your tune' is usually used

'To change your tune' عادة تستخدم

when someone's opinion changes

عندما يتغير رأي شخص ما

or someone's behaviour changes

او تغير في سلوك شخص ما

and usually it's from a negative to a positive one.

وعادة ما يكون من السلبي إلى الايجابي

So imagine that you have a colleague

اذا تخيل انه لديك زميل

who's been complaining about your boss for months.

والذي كان يشتكي من مديرك لشهور

They don't get on well together,

لم يجري الامر بشكل جيد فيما بينهما

they disagree on most things

يختلفون على معظم الأشياء

and your colleague can be quite stubborn about it.

وزميلك يكون عنيد بعض الشيء بخصوص ذلك

But suddenly, your colleague comes into the office

ولكن فجأة يأتي زميلك الى المكتب

and starts saying that your boss is really nice

ويبدأ بالحديث أن مديرك رائع جدا

and that he's really great to work with.

وانه فعلا من الجيد العمل معه

He even goes and gets him a coffee every morning

حتى انه اصبح يحضر له قهوة في كل صباح

and you think

وانت تعتقد

"You've really changed your tune!"

"لقد غيرت رأيك فعلا "

They've changed their opinion

لقد قامو بتغيّر رأيهم

and they've changed the way that they

وقد قامو بتغيّرالطريقة التي

behave around this person.

يتصرفون بها حول هذا الشخص

This whole year I've been trying to convince

طوال هذه السنة كنت أحاول اقناع

Shah, my fiance, to go on a holiday

خطيبي "ساه" للذهاب في عطلة

and he's been saying

وقد وكان يقول

"No, it's too expensive we can't afford it!"

"لا , إنه مكلف جدا لا يمكننا تحمّل ذلك"

But last night he came home and

ولكن في الليلة الماضية أتى الى المنزل

he said he wanted to buy tickets to Tokyo

وقال أنه يريد شراء البطاقات الى طوكيو

and I thought

وأنا إعتقدت

"Hmm he's really changed his tune."

هو فعلا قد غير رأيه " changed his tune."

His opinion about the holiday has completely changed.

رأيه عن العطلة قد تغيير بشكل كامل

He's changed his tune.

لقد غير رأيه

Now 'a change of heart' is slightly different.

الآن 'a change of heart' مختلفة بشكل طفيف

You can see that it's treated like a noun phrase.

يمكنك ان ترى انها تٌعامل مثل عبارة إسمية

It's always a change of heart

انها دائما بهذا الشكل "a change of heart" '

and it's usually singular.

عادة ما تكون مفردة

And this idiom is about a change in attitude.

وهذه العبارة الإصطلاحية مرتبطة بالتغيير في الموقف

A change in the way that you

وتغيير في الطريقة التي

feel about something.

تشعر بها بخصوص شيء ما

So imagine that you found a dress

تخيل انك وجدت فستان

and it's perfect to wear to your friend's wedding.

وانه مثالي لحضور زفاف صديقك

It's gorgeous, you love it

هو رائع وانت احببته

but you're not sure if it's going to go with

ولكنك لست متأكد أنه سيتناسب مع

the shoes that you've already got at home.

مع الحذاء الذي تملكه مسبقا في المنزل

You're not sure if you should buy it.

لست متأكد إذا كان يجب ان تشتريه

But the shop assistant says

ولكن العامل في المحل قال

"If you have a change of heart,

اذا غيرت رأيك

you can return it tomorrow."

يمكنك أن ترجعيه غدا

Now be careful that you don't use this idiom

الان, كن حذراً أن لا تستخدم هذا التعبير الاصطلاحي

in the same way as the previous ones.

بنفس طريقة كما في الأمثلة السابقة

You can't say "He changed his heart"

لا يمكنك أن تقول "He changed his heart"

or "I changed my heart"

او "I changed my heart"

It doesn't work, it's not the same, it sounds a bit weird.

إنها لا تعمل , ليستهي نفسها , تبدو غريبة بعض الشيء

It's usually used with the verb 'have'.

انها تستخدم عادة مع الفعل 'have'.

He had a change of heart.

لقد قام بتغيير رأيه

She will probably have a change of heart.

من المحتمل ان تقوم بتغيير رأيها

I still remember when I was

لازلت أتذكر عندما كنت

eighteen years old and I moved out of my family home.

في الثامنة عشر من عمري وانتقلت خارج منزل عائلتي

I was moving into an apartment with

كنت أنتقلت الى شقة

some friends in the city

مع بعض اصدقائي في المدينة

and as I was saying goodbye to my parents,

وعندما كنت أودع والديّ

I started feeling really sad that I was leaving

بدأت اشعر بحزن حقيقي لانني سأرحل

so my mum said "Well if you have a change of heart

لذا قالت أمي حسنا اذا غيرتي رأيك

and you decide to move back home,

وقررتي العودة الى المنزل

you'll always be welcome."

ستكونين دائمًا موضع ترحيب

which made me feel a lot better about leaving.

مما جعلني اشعر بشعور افضل عن الرحيل

Now speaking of moving house, we have our next idiom,

الان بالحديث عن الانتقال من المنزل لدينا عبارتنا الاصطلاحية التالية

'a change of scene'

تغيير في المشهد ' a change of scene'

or 'a change of scenery'.

او تغيير في المشهد 'a change of scenery'.

And this idiom is used when

وهذه العبارة الاصطلاحية تٌستخدم

you move to different surroundings,

عندما تنتقل إلى محيط جديد

you know, a different environment.

أنت تعلم , بيئة جديدة

It could be used to talk about where you live

يمكن ان تستخدم للحديث عن أين تعيش

or where you work.

أو أين تعمل

Tim was tired of working at his father's company.

تيم تعب من العمل في شركة والده

He wanted a change of scene

وأراد أن يغير المشهد

so he applied for a job in Sydney.

لذا ,هو تقدم للعمل في سيدني

I'm so tired of this little, tiny town.

لقد مللت من هذه المدينة الصغيرة

I've been living here for twelve years.

أعيش هنا لمدة إثناعشر سنة

I need a change of scenery!

أنا بحاجة الى تغيير المشهد "المكان"

I'm going to move to New York.

سأتحول الى نيويورك

A change of pace is used in a similar way.

تستخدم في نفس الطريقة 'A change of pace '

It talks about a change from your normal, daily routine

تتكلم عن التغيير من الروتين اليومي العادي

so you can use it to say that you need to try something

لذا ,يمكنك إستخدامها لقول انك بحاجة الى تجريب شيء

different for a while.

مختلف لفترة ما

A change from what you're used to.

تغيير مما قد إعتدت عليه

If you're not feeling very inspired by English these days

إذا لم تشعر بأنك مٌلهم ب اللغة الانجليزية هذه الايام

or very motivated to practise,

او متحفز جدا للممارسة

perhaps you need a change of pace.

ربما انت بحاجة الى تغيير طريقة السير

You could travel to another country where you

يمكنك ان تسافر الى بلد اخر حيث

have to use your English and practise more.

يجب عليك ان تستخدم الانجليزية و الممارسة أكثر

So there you have it!

اذاً لديك

Five useful idioms all about change,

خمس عبارات اصطلاحية مفيدة كلها عن التغيير

ones that all have very similar meanings

كلها لديها معاني متشابهة جدا

but are used slightly differently.

ولكنها تستخدم بطريقة مختلفة بعض الشيء

You can be confident using any of them

يمكنك أن تكون واثقا بإستخدام واحدا منهم

with a native English speakers

مع المتحدثيين الاصليين للغة الانجليزية

from all English-speaking countries.

من كل الدول الناطقة بالانجليزية

They're really useful ones to learn

انهم حقا مفيدين للتعلم

because they're so common.

لانهم شائعين جدا

The best way to understand

الطريقة الافضل لفهم

the difference between them is to practise using them.

الفرق بينهم هو التدرب على استخدامهم
