In this video, we’re going to talk about subjective pronouns.

Bu videoda öznel zamirlerden bahsedeceğiz.

So, let’s take a look at the board.

Öyleyse tahtaya bir göz atalım.

Here they are. The subjective pronouns.

İşte buradalar. Öznel zamirler.

Please take a careful look. They’re very important in English.

Lütfen dikkatli bakın. İngilizcede çok önemlidirler.

Okay. So, the first subjective pronoun is ‘I’.

Tamam aşkım. Yani ilk öznel zamir 'ben'dir.

“I” means me. “I’m Esther”.

“Ben” ben demektir. "Ben Esther'im."

He Now, “he” is only used for boys or men.

He Artık “he” yalnızca erkek çocuklar veya erkekler için kullanılır.

Okay. He

Tamam aşkım. O

So another boy or man is “he”.

Yani başka bir çocuk ya da adam “o”dur.

“She” is used for girls or women.

“She” kızlar ve kadınlar için kullanılır.

Okay. She

Tamam aşkım. She

It “It” is used for a place like a school, an animal like a dog, or a thing like a chair.

It “It” okul gibi bir yer, köpek gibi bir hayvan ya da sandalye gibi bir şey için kullanılır.

Okay. It

Tamam aşkım. Sıradaki “sen”sin

The next one is “you”. “You” means you.

. “Sen” sen anlamına gelir.

Okay. “you”.

Tamam aşkım. "Sen".

We “We” means other people and me.

Biz “Biz” diğer insanları ve beni ifade eder.

For example, “I sing”, “you sing”, then “we sing”.

Örneğin, "Şarkı söylüyorum", "sen şarkı söyle", sonra "şarkı söylüyoruz".

Okay. “we”.

Tamam aşkım. "Biz".

And the last one is “they”.

Ve sonuncusu “onlar”.

“They” means many people, places, animals or things.

“Onlar” birçok insan, yer, hayvan veya eşya anlamına gelir.

Okay. So, more than one.

Tamam aşkım. Yani birden fazla.

If there’s more than one, we use the subjective pronoun ‘they’.

Birden fazla varsa, 'onlar' öznel zamirini kullanırız.

Okay, let’s move on to the next part.

Okay, so let’s practice together with subjective pronouns.

Tamam, hadi öznel zamirlerle birlikte pratik yapalım.

The first sentence on the board says, “Jenny sings”.

Tahtadaki ilk cümle "Jenny şarkı söylüyor" diyor.

Now Jenny is one girl.

Artık Jenny bir kız.

So we can say, “She sings”.

Yani “Şarkı söylüyor” diyebiliriz.

“Jack sings”. Jack is one boy.

"Jack şarkı söylüyor". Jack bir erkek çocuk.

So we have to say, “he sings”.

O halde “şarkı söylüyor” demeliyiz.

The last sentence says, “Jenny and Jack sing”.

Son cümlede "Jenny ve Jack şarkı söylüyor" diyor.

Now Jenny and Jack are two people.

Artık Jenny ve Jack iki kişidir.

So we have to say, “they sing”.

O halde “şarkı söylüyorlar” demeliyiz.

Okay, let’s move on to the next part.

The first sentence on the board says,

Tahtanın ilk cümlesi

“The cat runs”.

"Kedi koşuyor" diyor.

‘The cat’ is an animal, so we have to say, “It runs”.

'Kedi' bir hayvandır, dolayısıyla 'koşuyor' demeliyiz.

The next sentence says, “The dog and cat run”.

Sonraki cümlede “Köpek ve kedi koşuyor” yazıyor.

Now, ‘the dog and cat’, they are two animals.

Artık 'köpek ve kedi' iki hayvandır.

So anytime you have two or more things, we say, “They run”.

Yani ne zaman iki ya da daha fazla şeyiniz olsa “Koşuyorlar” deriz.

‘They’.

'Onlar'.

Okay, now, for the last sentence, I’m going to talk about my cat, Ongee.

Tamam, şimdi son cümlede kedim Ongee'den bahsedeceğim.

Ongee is a cat. He’s an animal.

Ongee bir kedidir. O bir hayvan.

But he has a name. He’s a boy cat.

Ama onun bir adı var. O bir erkek kedi.

Okay and I love him. And he’s like family.

Tamam ve onu seviyorum. Ve o bir aile gibidir.

So, “Ongee runs”. I can say “He runs”.

Yani “Ongee koşuyor”. “Koşuyor” diyebilirim.

Okay. Let’s move on to the next part.

Okay, here are some more examples.

Tamam, işte birkaç örnek daha.

But, this time, you have to figure out the subjective pronoun together with me.

Okay. So, “My students study”.

Tamam aşkım. Yani “Öğrencilerim okuyor”.

What should we use?

Ne kullanmalıyız?

Well, ‘My students’, there’s an ‘s’. Right.

'Öğrencilerim', bir de 's' var. Sağ.

They’re people and there’s more than one.

Onlar insan ve birden fazlası var.

Many people.

Birçok insan.

So we have to use the subjective pronoun, ‘they’.

Bu yüzden öznel zamir olan 'onlar'ı kullanmak zorundayız.

“They study”.

"Çalışıyorlar".

The next example.

Bir sonraki örnek.

“John is handsome”.

"John yakışıklı."

Okay, ‘John’, that’s a person.

Tamam, 'John', bu bir insan.

There’s only one. Right…

Sadece biri var. Doğru...

And it’s a boy, ‘John’.

Ve bu bir çocuk, 'John'.

So what should we use?

Peki ne kullanmalıyız?

We have to use the subjective pronoun, ‘he’.

'O' öznel zamirini kullanmak zorundayız.

One boy. We say, “he”.

Bir oğlan. “O” diyoruz.

“He is handsome”.

"O yakışıklı".

Okay, the last one. “Pizza is delicious”.

Tamam, sonuncusu. “Pizza lezzetlidir”.

‘Pizza’ is a thing.

'Pizza' bir şeydir.

And there’s only one. Right.

Ve sadece bir tane var. Sağ.

There’s no ‘s’. One pizza.

'S' yok. Bir pizza.

We say, “it”.

“O” diyoruz.

“It is delicious”. Okay.

"Lezzetli". Tamam aşkım.

Let’s move on to some more examples.

Biraz daha örneklere geçelim.

Okay, the first example says,

Tamam, ilk örnekte

“Seoul is a city”.

“Seul bir şehirdir” diyor.

Now, ‘Seoul’ is a place. Okay.

Artık 'Seul' bir yer. Tamam aşkım.

So we have to use the subjective pronoun, ‘it’.

Bu yüzden öznel zamir olan "o"yu kullanmak zorundayız.

“It is a city”.

"Bu bir şehir".

The next example says,

Bir sonraki örnekte

“My parents love Ongee”.

"Annem ve babam Ongee'yi seviyor" yazıyor.

Now, ‘Ongee’ is my cat. “My parents love Ongee”.

Artık 'Ongee' benim kedim. “Annem ve babam Ongee'yi seviyor”.

Well, ‘my parents’, they are two people. My mom and my dad.

Yani 'anne-babam' iki kişidir. Annem ve babam.

So, what do I use?

Peki ne kullanıyorum?

I have to say, “they”. “They love Ongee”.

“Onlar” demek zorundayım. "Ongee'yi seviyorlar".

The last example is very similar to the second one.

Son örnek ikinciye çok benzer.

“My parents and I love Ongee”. Okay.

“Annem ve ben Ongee'yi seviyoruz”. Tamam aşkım.

The difference is… it says, “and I”.

Aradaki fark... "ve ben" diyor.

So this is ‘my parents’ with ‘me’.

Yani bu 'ben' ile 'anne-babam'.

So I have to say, “we”. “We love Ongee”.

O yüzden “biz” demek zorundayım. “Ongee'yi seviyoruz”.

Okay. All of us.
