In this video, we’re going to talk about subjective pronouns.

In questo video parleremo dei pronomi soggettivi.

So, let’s take a look at the board.

Quindi, diamo un'occhiata al tabellone.

Here they are. The subjective pronouns.

Eccoli. I pronomi soggettivi.

Please take a careful look. They’re very important in English.

Si prega di dare un'occhiata attenta. Sono molto importanti in inglese.

Okay. So, the first subjective pronoun is ‘I’.

Va bene. Quindi, il primo pronome soggettivo è "io".

“I” means me. “I’m Esther”.

"Io" significa io. "Sono Ester".

He Now, “he” is only used for boys or men.

He Ora, "he" è usato solo per ragazzi o uomini.

Okay. He

Va bene. Lui

So another boy or man is “he”.

Quindi un altro ragazzo o uomo è “lui”.

“She” is used for girls or women.

"Lei" è usata per ragazze o donne.

It “It” is used for a place like a school, an animal like a dog, or a thing like a chair.

"It" è usato per un posto come una scuola, un animale come un cane o una cosa come una sedia.

Okay. It

Va bene.

The next one is “you”. “You” means you.

Il prossimo è "tu". "Tu" significa tu.

Okay. “you”.

Va bene. "Voi".

We “We” means other people and me.

Noi "Noi" significa altre persone e me.

For example, “I sing”, “you sing”, then “we sing”.

Ad esempio, "io canto", "tu canti", quindi "noi cantiamo".

Okay. “we”.

Va bene. "Noi".

And the last one is “they”.

E l'ultimo è "loro".

“They” means many people, places, animals or things.

“Loro” significa molte persone, luoghi, animali o cose.

Okay. So, more than one.

If there’s more than one, we use the subjective pronoun ‘they’.

Se ce n'è più di uno, usiamo il pronome soggettivo "loro".

Okay, let’s move on to the next part.

Okay, so let’s practice together with subjective pronouns.

Ok, quindi esercitiamoci insieme con i pronomi soggettivi.

The first sentence on the board says, “Jenny sings”.

La prima frase alla lavagna dice: "Jenny canta".

Now Jenny is one girl.

Ora Jenny è una ragazza.

So we can say, “She sings”.

Quindi possiamo dire: "Lei canta".

“Jack sings”. Jack is one boy.

"Jack canta". Jack è un ragazzo.

So we have to say, “he sings”.

Quindi dobbiamo dire "lui canta".

The last sentence says, “Jenny and Jack sing”.

L'ultima frase dice: "Jenny e Jack cantano".

Now Jenny and Jack are two people.

Ora Jenny e Jack sono due persone.

So we have to say, “they sing”.

Okay, let’s move on to the next part.

Ok, facciamo ancora un po' di pratica.

The first sentence on the board says,

La prima frase sulla lavagna dice:

“The cat runs”.

"Il gatto corre".

‘The cat’ is an animal, so we have to say, “It runs”.

"Il gatto" è un animale, quindi dobbiamo dire "Corre".

The next sentence says, “The dog and cat run”.

La frase successiva dice: "Il cane e il gatto corrono".

Now, ‘the dog and cat’, they are two animals.

Ora, "il cane e il gatto", sono due animali.

So anytime you have two or more things, we say, “They run”.

Quindi, ogni volta che hai due o più cose, diciamo: "Corrono".

‘They’.

'Essi'.

Okay, now, for the last sentence, I’m going to talk about my cat, Ongee.

Ok, ora, per l'ultima frase, parlerò del mio gatto, Ongee.

Ongee is a cat. He’s an animal.

Ongee è un gatto. È un animale.

But he has a name. He’s a boy cat.

Ma ha un nome. È un gatto maschio.

Okay and I love him. And he’s like family.

Ok e io lo amo. Ed è come una famiglia.

So, “Ongee runs”. I can say “He runs”.

Quindi, "Ongee corre". Posso dire "corre".

Okay. Let’s move on to the next part.

Okay, here are some more examples.

Ok, ecco alcuni altri esempi.

But, this time, you have to figure out the subjective pronoun together with me.

Ma, questa volta, devi capire il pronome soggettivo insieme a me.

Okay. So, “My students study”.

Va bene. Quindi, "I miei studenti studiano".

What should we use?

Cosa dovremmo usare?

Well, ‘My students’, there’s an ‘s’. Right.

Bene, "I miei studenti", c'è una "s". Giusto.

They’re people and there’s more than one.

Sono persone e ce n'è più di una.

Many people.

Molte persone.

So we have to use the subjective pronoun, ‘they’.

Quindi dobbiamo usare il pronome soggettivo, "loro".

“They study”.

"Studiano".

The next example.

Il prossimo esempio.

“John is handsome”.

"Giovanni è bello".

Okay, ‘John’, that’s a person.

Ok, "John", quella è una persona.

There’s only one. Right…

Ce n'è solo uno. Giusto...

And it’s a boy, ‘John’.

Ed è un ragazzo, 'John'.

So what should we use?

Quindi cosa dovremmo usare?

We have to use the subjective pronoun, ‘he’.

Dobbiamo usare il pronome soggettivo, "lui".

One boy. We say, “he”.

Un ragazzo. Diciamo "lui".

“He is handsome”.

"È bello".

Okay, the last one. “Pizza is delicious”.

Ok, l'ultimo. “La pizza è deliziosa”. La

‘Pizza’ is a thing.

"pizza" è una cosa.

And there’s only one. Right.

E ce n'è solo uno. Giusto.

There’s no ‘s’. One pizza.

Non ci sono "s". Una pizza.

We say, “it”.

Diciamo "esso".

“It is delicious”. Okay.

"È delizioso". Va bene.

Let’s move on to some more examples.

Passiamo ad altri esempi.

Okay, the first example says,

Ok, il primo esempio dice:

“Seoul is a city”.

"Seoul è una città".

Now, ‘Seoul’ is a place. Okay.

Ora, "Seoul" è un posto. Va bene.

So we have to use the subjective pronoun, ‘it’.

Quindi dobbiamo usare il pronome soggettivo, "esso".

“It is a city”.

“È una città”.

The next example says,

Il prossimo esempio dice:

“My parents love Ongee”.

"I miei genitori adorano Ongee".

Now, ‘Ongee’ is my cat. “My parents love Ongee”.

Ora, "Ongee" è il mio gatto. "I miei genitori adorano Ongee".

Well, ‘my parents’, they are two people. My mom and my dad.

Ebbene, "i miei genitori", sono due persone. Mia madre e mio padre.

So, what do I use?

Allora, cosa uso?

I have to say, “they”. “They love Ongee”.

Devo dire "loro". "Amano Ongee".

The last example is very similar to the second one.

L'ultimo esempio è molto simile al secondo.

“My parents and I love Ongee”. Okay.

"Io e i miei genitori amiamo Ongee". Va bene.

The difference is… it says, “and I”.

La differenza è... dice "e io".

So this is ‘my parents’ with ‘me’.

Quindi questo è "i miei genitori" con "me".

So I have to say, “we”. “We love Ongee”.

Quindi devo dire "noi". "Adoriamo Ongee".

Okay. All of us.
