In this video, we’re going to talk about subjective pronouns.

ഈ വീഡിയോയിൽ നമ്മൾ സംസാരിക്കാൻ പോകുന്നത് ആത്മനിഷ്ഠമായ സർവ്വനാമങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചാണ്.

So, let’s take a look at the board.

Here they are. The subjective pronouns.

അവർ ഇതാ. ആത്മനിഷ്ഠമായ സർവ്വനാമങ്ങൾ.

Please take a careful look. They’re very important in English.

Okay. So, the first subjective pronoun is ‘I’.

“I” means me. “I’m Esther”.

"ഞാൻ" എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ. "ഞാൻ എസ്തർ".

He Now, “he” is only used for boys or men.

It “It” is used for a place like a school, an animal like a dog, or a thing like a chair.

The next one is “you”. “You” means you.

“They” means many people, places, animals or things.

If there’s more than one, we use the subjective pronoun ‘they’.

Okay, so let’s practice together with subjective pronouns.

The first sentence on the board says, “Jenny sings”.

ബോർഡിലെ ആദ്യ വാചകം, "ജെന്നി പാടുന്നു".

Now Jenny is one girl.

ഇപ്പോൾ ജെന്നി ഒരു പെൺകുട്ടിയാണ്.

So we can say, “She sings”.

അതുകൊണ്ട് നമുക്ക് പറയാം, "അവൾ പാടുന്നു".

“Jack sings”. Jack is one boy.

"ജാക്ക് പാടുന്നു". ജാക്ക് ഒരു ആൺകുട്ടിയാണ്.

So we have to say, “he sings”.

അതുകൊണ്ട് നമ്മൾ പറയണം, "അവൻ പാടുന്നു".

The last sentence says, “Jenny and Jack sing”.

അവസാന വാചകം പറയുന്നു, "ജെന്നിയും ജാക്കും പാടുന്നു".

Now Jenny and Jack are two people.

ഇപ്പോൾ ജെന്നിയും ജാക്കും രണ്ടുപേരാണ്.

So we have to say, “they sing”.

Okay, let’s move on to the next part.

The first sentence on the board says,

“The cat runs”.

"പൂച്ച ഓടുന്നു" എന്ന് പറയുന്നു.

‘The cat’ is an animal, so we have to say, “It runs”.

'പൂച്ച' ഒരു മൃഗമാണ്, അതിനാൽ "അത് ഓടുന്നു" എന്ന് നമ്മൾ പറയണം.

The next sentence says, “The dog and cat run”.

അടുത്ത വാചകം പറയുന്നു, "പട്ടിയും പൂച്ചയും ഓടുന്നു".

Now, ‘the dog and cat’, they are two animals.

ഇപ്പോൾ, 'പട്ടിയും പൂച്ചയും', അവർ രണ്ട് മൃഗങ്ങളാണ്.

So anytime you have two or more things, we say, “They run”.

Okay, now, for the last sentence, I’m going to talk about my cat, Ongee.

Okay and I love him. And he’s like family.

So, “Ongee runs”. I can say “He runs”.

Okay. Let’s move on to the next part.

Okay, here are some more examples.

But, this time, you have to figure out the subjective pronoun together with me.

Okay. So, “My students study”.

What should we use?

Well, ‘My students’, there’s an ‘s’. Right.

They’re people and there’s more than one.

So we have to use the subjective pronoun, ‘they’.

“They study”.

The next example.

അടുത്ത ഉദാഹരണം.

“John is handsome”.

Okay, ‘John’, that’s a person.

There’s only one. Right…

And it’s a boy, ‘John’.

So what should we use?

We have to use the subjective pronoun, ‘he’.

ഒരു ആൺകുട്ടി. ഞങ്ങൾ പറയുന്നു, "അവൻ".

“He is handsome”.

"അവൻ സുന്ദരനാണ്".

Okay, the last one. “Pizza is delicious”.

ശരി, അവസാനത്തേത്. "പിസ്സ സ്വാദിഷ്ടമാണ്".

‘Pizza’ is a thing.

'പിസ്സ' ഒരു കാര്യമാണ്.

And there’s only one. Right.

പിന്നെ ഒന്നേ ഉള്ളൂ. ശരിയാണ്.

There’s no ‘s’. One pizza.

's' ഇല്ല. ഒരു പിസ്സ.

We say, “it”.

ഞങ്ങൾ പറയുന്നു, "അത്".

“It is delicious”. Okay.

"ഇത് രുചികരമാണ്". ശരി.

Let’s move on to some more examples.

നമുക്ക് കൂടുതൽ ഉദാഹരണങ്ങളിലേക്ക് പോകാം.

Okay, the first example says,

ശരി, ആദ്യത്തെ ഉദാഹരണം പറയുന്നു,

“Seoul is a city”.

"സിയോൾ ഒരു നഗരമാണ്".

Now, ‘Seoul’ is a place. Okay.

ഇപ്പോൾ, 'സിയോൾ' ഒരു സ്ഥലമാണ്. ശരി.

So we have to use the subjective pronoun, ‘it’.

അതുകൊണ്ട് നമ്മൾ ആത്മനിഷ്ഠമായ സർവ്വനാമം ഉപയോഗിക്കണം, 'ഇത്'.

“It is a city”.

"ഇതൊരു നഗരമാണ്".

The next example says,

അടുത്ത ഉദാഹരണം പറയുന്നു,

“My parents love Ongee”.

"എന്റെ മാതാപിതാക്കൾ ഓംഗിയെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു".

Now, ‘Ongee’ is my cat. “My parents love Ongee”.

ഇപ്പോൾ, 'ഓങ്ങി' എന്റെ പൂച്ചയാണ്. "എന്റെ മാതാപിതാക്കൾ ഓംഗിയെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു".

Well, ‘my parents’, they are two people. My mom and my dad.

ശരി, 'എന്റെ മാതാപിതാക്കൾ', അവർ രണ്ടുപേരാണ്. എന്റെ അമ്മയും അച്ഛനും.

So, what do I use?

അതിനാൽ, ഞാൻ എന്താണ് ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നത്?

I have to say, “they”. “They love Ongee”.

The last example is very similar to the second one.

“My parents and I love Ongee”. Okay.

The difference is… it says, “and I”.

So this is ‘my parents’ with ‘me’.
