In today's video, I'm going  to tell you about nouns. 

오늘 영상에서는 명사에 대해 말씀드리겠습니다.

Because in English, nouns are very important. They are the basic element of a sentence. 

영어에서는 명사가 매우 중요하기 때문입니다. 그것들은 문장의 기본 요소입니다.

So if you want to speak English, you need to know about the  

따라서 영어로 말하고 싶다면

different kinds of nouns. And I'm going to try and teach

you as well as I can. Let's get started!

Ok, so let's start with concrete nouns. Now in English, concrete nouns  

좋습니다. 구체적인 명사부터 시작해 보겠습니다. 이제 영어에서 구체적인 명사는

are people places or things, including animals. 

동물을 포함한 사람의 장소나 사물을 의미합니다.

That you can see, that you can smell, or taste, or hear, or touch. 

볼 수 있고, 냄새를 맡을 수 있고, 맛볼 수 있고, 듣고, 만질 수 있습니다.

So you can basically use your five senses. Let me give you a few examples. 

그래서 기본적으로 오감을 사용할 수 있습니다. 몇 가지 예를 들어보겠습니다.

If we talk about people, 

사람에 대해 이야기한다면

you could say, a man or a teacher, 

남자, 선생님,

or me, Fanny. Or Mr. Smith. 

나 패니 등을 말할 수 있습니다. 아니면 스미스 씨.

If we talk about places, you could say, 

장소에 대해 이야기하면

a house, a school. You could name a city like London. 

집, 학교 등을 말할 수 있습니다. 런던과 같은 도시의 이름을 지정할 수 있습니다.

Very nice city. Or a beach. 

아주 좋은 도시. 아니면 해변.

And if you talk about things, you could say a shoe, 

그리고 사물에 대해 이야기한다면 신발, 마커, 개

you could say a marker, you could talk about a dog 

또는 피자 같은 음식 에 대해 말할 수 있습니다

or food like a pizza. These are concrete nouns....ok. 

. 이것은 구체적인 명사입니다....알겠습니다.

Now let's move on to abstract nouns. So abstract nouns, unlike concrete nouns, 

이제 추상 명사로 넘어가겠습니다. 따라서 추상 명사는 구체적인 명사와 달리

are ideas, concepts, emotions. And you can't see an idea. 

아이디어, 개념, 감정입니다. 그리고 당신은 아이디어를 볼 수 없습니다.

You can't smell a concept. You can't taste an emotion. 

개념의 냄새를 맡을 수 없습니다. 감정을 맛볼 수 없습니다.

Or hear it. Or touch it. So they are nouns. They are things that exist, but 

아니면 들어보세요. 아니면 만져보세요. 그래서 그들은 명사입니다. 그것들은 존재하지만

you cannot see them, or taste them. You can't use your five sense.

To give you a few examples, we could talk about love,

or time, or religion,

rules. These are all words that represent

ideas, concepts... okay They're abstract nouns in English. 

... 네, 영어에서는 추상 명사입니다.

Now, let's get into more detail about nouns. Let's now see the difference between common nouns 

이제 명사에 대해 좀 더 자세히 알아보겠습니다. 이제 영어에서 매우 중요한

and proper nouns which are  very important in English. 

일반명사와 고유명사의 차이점을 살펴보겠습니다

So common nouns and proper nouns refer to people, places, things,  

. 그래서 보통명사와 고유명사는 사람, 장소, 사물, 아이디어를 지칭합니다

ideas. Let's see a few examples. 

. 몇 가지 예를 살펴보겠습니다.

We could talk about people for example. A woman. 

예를 들어 사람에 대해 이야기할 수 있습니다. 여자.

That's a common noun. But if we talk about a specific woman, 

그것은 일반적인 명사입니다. 하지만 특정 여성, 예를 들어 나, 패니

for example, me, Fanny. That becomes a proper noun with a capital 'F'. 

에 대해 이야기한다면 . 대문자 'F'를 사용하는 고유명사가 됩니다.

because, and you should know this, proper nouns are always capitalized. 

왜냐하면 여러분도 이것을 알아야 하기 때문입니다. 고유 명사는 항상 대문자로 표시됩니다.

You could talk about places. A city. That's a common noun. 

장소에 대해 이야기할 수도 있습니다. 도시. 그것은 일반적인 명사입니다.

But then you can name a specific city. Let's take a 

하지만 특정 도시의 이름을 지정할 수 있습니다.

great city, London, of course. With a capital 'L'. 

물론 런던이라는 멋진 도시를 예로 들어보겠습니다 . 대문자 'L'로.

Remember proper nouns - always capitalized. We can talk about things for 

고유명사를 기억하세요 - 항상 대문자로 표기하세요. 예 를 들어 우리는 사물에 대해 이야기할 수 있습니다

example. An animal. Let's take a dog. A dog. 

. 동물. 개를 데려가자. 개.

That's a common noun. But if we take a specific dog, like  

그것은 일반적인 명사입니다. 하지만 스누피(대문자 'S')와 같은 특정 개를 선택하면

Snoopy - capital 'S', that's the proper noun. 

그것이 고유명사가 됩니다.

If we talk about things  again, but for example, a car, 

다시 사물에 대해 이야기한다면, 예를 들어 자동차는

that's a common noun. But if we name the brand,  

일반 명사입니다. 하지만 볼보처럼 자동차의 특정 브랜드인

the specific brand of the car like Volvo, that's a proper noun. And it takes a capital 'V'. 

브랜드 이름을 붙이면 그게 고유명사가 됩니다. 그리고 대문자 'V'가 필요합니다.

And finally, and we can say, a team - common noun. But if we name a specific team, for example, 

그리고 마지막으로 팀은 일반 명사라고 말할 수 있습니다. 하지만 특정 팀, 예를 들어

the best football team, Manchester United, 

최고의 축구팀인 맨체스터 유나이티드(Manchester United)를

then that's a proper noun and it's capitalized. 

명명 하면 해당 팀은 고유명사이며 대문자로 표시됩니다.

Now mind you, 'team', is a special word because it's called 

그런데 '팀'은

a collective noun in English because it refers to a group of people. 

사람들의 집단을 지칭하기 때문에 영어로 집합명사라고 부르기 때문에 특별한 단어입니다.

So collective nouns can be used as singular nouns or plural nouns. 

그래서 집합명사는 단수명사로도, 복수명사로도 쓰일 수 있습니다.

But we will talk about this again later. So now that we know a lot about nouns in English, 

하지만 이에 대해서는 나중에 다시 이야기하겠습니다. 그럼 이제 영어 명사에 대해 많이 알았으니,

Let's practice finding nouns in a sentence. Okay, first, 

문장에서 명사 찾는 연습을 해보자. 좋아요, 우선

In my class at Oxford  University, I have many friends. 

옥스퍼드 대학교 수업 시간에 친구가 많아요.

My best friend is Jan. I have a lot of love for her. 

나의 가장 친한 친구는 Jan입니다. 나는 그녀를 매우 사랑합니다.

Jan has a cute dog. Its name is Juju. 

Jan에게는 귀여운 개가 있습니다. 이름은 쥬쥬(Juju)입니다.

What are the nouns in these sentences? 

이 문장에 있는 명사는 무엇인가요?

If we take the first sentence, In my class at Oxford University,  

첫 번째 문장을 보면, 옥스퍼드 대학교 수업 시간에

I have many friends. We have, class, and friends. 

나는 친구가 많습니다. 우리에게는 수업과 친구가 있습니다.

These are common nouns. We also have a proper noun, Oxford University. 

이들은 일반 명사입니다. 옥스퍼드 대학교(Oxford University)라는 고유명사도 있습니다.

We know it's a proper noun  because it's capitalized. 

대문자로 표기되어 있기 때문에 고유명사임을 알 수 있습니다.

The second sentence is, My best friend is Jen. 

두 번째 문장은 '내 가장 친한 친구는 Jen입니다'입니다.

Now in this sentence, the noun is, friend - common noun. 

이제 이 문장에서 명사는 친구 - 보통명사입니다.

And there's also the word, Jen, is also a noun but a proper noun. 

그리고 Jen이라는 단어도 명사이지만 고유명사입니다.

As you can see it's capitalized. Then, I have a lot of love for her. 

보시다시피 대문자로 되어있습니다. 그렇다면 나는 그녀에 대한 많은 사랑을 가지고 있습니다.

What noun can you see? Of course, 'love'. 

어떤 명사가 보이나요? 물론 '사랑'이다.

Remember the abstract noun we talked about a few minutes ago. 

몇 분 전에 이야기했던 추상 명사를 기억하세요.

And finally, Jan has a cute dog. Its name is Juju. What nouns can we find? 

그리고 마침내 Jan에게는 귀여운 개가 생겼습니다. 이름은 쥬쥬(Juju)입니다. 어떤 명사를 찾을 수 있나요?

We can see, 'Jen', again - proper noun. 'Dog' - common noun. 

다시 'Jen'이라는 고유명사를 볼 수 있습니다. '개' - 일반 명사.

But also, 'name', and 'Juju'. 'Name's' a common noun. 

그런데 '이름'도 있고, '주주'도 있어요. '이름'은 보통명사이다.

'Juju' is the proper noun. It's capitalized. 

'주주'가 고유명사입니다. 대문자로 표시됩니다.

As you probably know, I haven't mentioned, 'I', or 'her', or 'its'. 

아마 아시다시피 저는 '나', '그녀', '그것'을 언급하지 않았습니다.

They are also nouns, but they are pronouns and they're considered a different  

명사이기도 하지만 대명사이므로

category in English. We will talk about them in another video . 

영어에서는 다른 카테고리로 간주됩니다. 우리는 다른 비디오에서 그들에 대해 이야기할 것입니다.

In today’s video, we’re going to  talk about singular and plural nouns.

오늘 영상에서는 단수명사와 복수명사에 대해 이야기해보겠습니다.

When you speak English, it’s very important  to know the difference between a singular noun  

영어를 말할 때, 단수 명사

and a plural noun. Ok? 

와 복수 명사의 차이를 아는 것이 매우 중요합니다. 좋아요?

So I will explain to you the different rules. And we will practice together. 

그래서 다양한 규칙을 설명하겠습니다. 그리고 우리는 함께 연습할 거예요.

Let’s get started. 

시작하자.

Ok guys, the first you need to know  is that a singular noun means one. 

좋아요 여러분, 가장 먼저 알아야 할 것은 단수 명사가 하나를 의미한다는 것입니다.

So, for example, I can say, ‘cat’. ‘a cat’ 

예를 들어 '고양이'라고 말할 수 있어요. 'a cat'

‘one cat’ ‘school’ 

'one cat' 'school'

‘a school’ ‘one school’ 

'a school' 'one school'

‘team’ Now don’t forget, ‘team’ is a collective noun. 

'team' 'team'은 집합명사라는 점을 잊지 마세요.

It’s a group of people, but  still, it’s a singular noun. 

사람들의 집단이지만 여전히 단수 명사입니다.

We talk about ‘a team’, or ‘one team. ‘lady’ 

우리는 '팀' 또는 '하나의 팀'에 대해 이야기합니다. '레이디'

‘monkey’ ‘tomato’ 

'원숭이' '토마토'

‘a tomato’ ‘one tomato’ 

'토마토' '토마토 한 개'

Or ‘piano’. Now, if we talk  

또는 '피아노'. 이제

about plural nouns, it means more than one. So for example, two, three, four, or many. 

복수 명사에 대해 이야기하면 이는 하나 이상을 의미합니다. 예를 들어 2개, 3개, 4개 또는 다수입니다.

If we take our words again,  ‘a cat’ becomes ‘cats’. 

다시 말하면 '고양이'는 '고양이'가 됩니다.

‘two cats’ ‘three cats’ 

'고양이 두 마리' '고양이 세 마리'

‘many cats’ ‘school’’ becomes ‘schools’. 

'고양이 다수' '학교''는 '학교'가 됩니다.

‘team’ becomes ‘teams’. Ok, so you just add an ‘s’. 

'팀'은 '팀'이 됩니다. 좋습니다. 's'만 추가하면 됩니다.

Now ‘lady’ becomes ‘ladies. ‘monkey’ becomes ‘monkeys’. 

이제 '숙녀'는 '숙녀'가 됩니다. '원숭이'는 '원숭이'가 됩니다.

But, two different rules. As you can see, ‘lady’ is consonant + ‘y’. 

그러나 두 가지 다른 규칙이 있습니다. 보시다시피 'lady'는 자음 + 'y'입니다.

Now when you have consonant + ‘y’, in an  English word, the plural will be ‘ies’. 

이제 영어 단어에서 자음 + 'y'가 있으면 복수형은 'ies'가 됩니다.

‘lady’ ‘ladies’ 

'lady' 'ladies'

But when you have vowel + ‘y’ like  ‘monkey’, it just becomes ‘monkeys’. 

그런데 'monkey'처럼 모음 + 'y'가 있으면 그냥 'monkeys'가 됩니다.

You simply add an ‘s’. Ok, ‘monkey’ becomes ‘monkeys’. 

간단히 's'를 추가하면 됩니다. 알겠습니다. '원숭이'는 '원숭이'가 됩니다.

‘tomato’ becomes ‘tomatoes’. ‘piano’ ‘pianos’ 

'토마토'는 '토마토'가 됩니다. 'piano' 'pianos'

Again, two different rules. Now ‘tomato’ becomes ‘tomatoes’. 

다시 말하지만, 두 가지 다른 규칙이 있습니다. 이제 '토마토'는 '토마토'가 됩니다.

You add ‘es’. And with most words ending in ‘o’,  

'es'를 추가합니다. 그리고 대부분의 단어가 'o'로 끝나

so consonant + ‘o’, you will add ‘es’. But sometimes, you will only add ‘s’. 

므로 자음 + 'o'에는 'es'를 추가합니다. 하지만 때로는 's'만 추가할 수도 있습니다.

Like ‘piano’, ‘pianos’. There is no particular rule for this. 

'피아노', '피아노'처럼 말이죠. 이에 대한 특별한 규칙은 없습니다.

You just need to know the words  that only end with an ‘s’. 

's'로 끝나는 단어만 알면 됩니다.

Ok, let’s move on to some pronunciation now. So, when it comes to pronunciation, we have  

자, 이제 발음을 좀 살펴보겠습니다. 따라서 발음에 관해서는

three different sounds. The first sound is /s/. 

세 가지 다른 소리가 있습니다. 첫 번째 소리는 /s/입니다.

The second sound is /z/. And the third sounds is /Iz/. 

두 번째 소리는 /z/입니다. 세 번째 소리는 /Iz/입니다.

So let’s review some words together and  be really careful, what sound do you hear? 

그럼 함께 몇 가지 단어를 복습하고 정말 주의 깊게 살펴보겠습니다. 어떤 소리가 들리나요?

‘cats’ ‘cats’ 

'고양이' '고양이'

What can you hear? /s/ 

무엇을 들을 수 있나요? /s/

Can you repeat after me. ‘cats’

‘cats’ The second word is ‘schools’. 

'고양이' 두 번째 단어는 '학교'입니다.

‘schools’ What sound can you hear?

Of course, /z/. Repeat after me. 

물론, /z/입니다. 나를 따라 반복하세요.

‘schools’ ‘schools’ 

'학교' '학교'

The third words is ‘teams’. 

세 번째 단어는 '팀'입니다.

What sound can you hear? Again, /z/. 

어떤 소리를 들을 수 있나요? 다시, /z/.

Repeat after me. ‘teams’ 

나를 따라 반복하세요. '팀'

‘teams’ Then we have ‘ladies’. 

'팀' 그리고 '숙녀'가 있습니다.

‘ladies’ /z/ 

'숙녀들' /z/

Repeat after me. ‘ladies’ 

내 말을 따라 반복하세요. '숙녀'

‘ladies’ Then ‘monkeys’.

/z/ again. Repeat after me.

Then we have ‘tomatoes’. Again, it’s the /z/ sound. 

그리고 '토마토'가 있습니다. 이번에도 /z/ 소리입니다.

‘tomatoes’ ‘tomatoes’

And finally, ‘pianos’. /z/ 

그리고 마지막으로 '피아노'. /z/

Let’s move on to other rules now. Ok guys, let’s now talk about nouns  

이제 다른 규칙으로 넘어가겠습니다. 자, 이제

that end in ‘s’, ‘sh’, ‘x’, ‘ch’, or ‘z’. Now to make the plural form of these nouns,  

's', 'sh', 'x', 'ch', 'z'로 끝나는 명사에 대해 이야기해 보겠습니다. 이제 이 명사의 복수형을 만들기 위해

you will add ‘es’. And the sound will be /Iz/. 

'es'를 추가합니다. 그러면 소리는 /Iz/가 됩니다.

Let’s review some words together. ‘bus’ becomes ‘buses’. 

몇 가지 단어를 함께 복습해 봅시다. '버스'는 '버스'가 됩니다.

‘bush’ ‘bushes’ ‘fox’ ‘foxes’ 

'부시' '부시' '여우' '여우'

‘beach’ ‘beaches’ ‘quiz’ ‘quizzes’

Let’s move on. Ok, guys. 

다음으로 넘어가겠습니다. 알았어, 얘들아.

Moving on to nouns that end in ‘f’ or ‘fe’. For example, ‘roof’ becomes ‘roofs’. 

'f' 또는 'fe'로 끝나는 명사로 이동하세요. 예를 들어 '지붕'은 '지붕'이 됩니다.

‘safe’ ‘safes’ So you simply add an ‘s’. 

'safe' 'safes' 따라서 's'만 추가하면 됩니다.

Then we have ‘leaf’ that becomes ‘leaves’. Wait a minute. What happened? 

그러면 '잎'이 되는 '잎'이 있습니다. 잠깐 기다려요. 무슨 일이에요?

Well, ya, sometimes in English, a word ending  in ‘f’ becomes a word ending in ‘ves’ in plural. 

글쎄요, 영어에서는 'f'로 끝나는 단어가 복수형으로 'ves'로 끝나는 단어가 되는 경우도 있습니다.

That’s not a rule. But some words end in ‘ves’,  

그것은 규칙이 아닙니다. 하지만 'ves'로 끝나는 단어도 있으니

you just have to learn them I’m afraid. Another word, ‘wife’. 

꼭 배워야 할 것 같아요. 또 다른 말은 '아내'다.

And again, ‘ves’. ‘wives’ 

그리고 또 '베스'입니다. 'wives'

‘shelf’ ‘shelves’ Again, this ‘ves’ ending. 

'shelf' 'shelves' 이번에도 'ves' 엔딩입니다.

Now let’s focus on pronunciation. ‘roofs’ 

이제 발음에 집중해 보겠습니다. '지붕'

So it’s an /s/ sound. ‘roofs’ 

그래서 /s/ 소리입니다. '지붕'

‘roofs’ Good job. 

'지붕' 잘했어요.

‘safes’ ‘safes’ 

'금고' '금고'

Have you heard the /s/ sound? ‘safes’ 

/s/ 소리를 들어보셨나요? '금고'

Then we have ‘leaves’. And this time it’s a /z/ sound. 

다음에는 '잎'이 있습니다. 이번에는 /z/ 소리입니다.

Repeat after me. 

나를 따라 반복하세요.

‘leaves’ ‘leaves’

Great. Moving on. ‘wives’ 

좋아요. 계속해서. '아내'

‘wives’ And finally, 

'아내' 그리고 마지막으로

‘shelves’ 

'선반'

‘shelves’ Great job guys. 

'선반' 잘했어요 여러분.

Let’s move on to practice now. Well students, let’s now practice together. 

이제 연습을 시작해 보겠습니다. 자, 학생 여러분, 이제 함께 연습해 봅시다.

I’m going to give you a singular noun, and  I want you to try and find the plural form  

나는 여러분에게 단수 명사를 줄 것이고, 여러분이 이 단수 명사의

of this singular noun. Ok? 

복수형을 찾아보길 바랍니다 . 좋아요?

Let’s give it a try. The first word is ‘baby’. 

한번 시도해 봅시다. 첫 번째 단어는 '아기'입니다.

‘baby’ Don’t forget, it ends with consonant + ‘y’. 

'baby' 잊지 마세요. 자음 + 'y'로 끝납니다.

Do you remember the rule? It’s ‘babies’ with ‘ies’. 

규칙을 기억하시나요? 'ies'가 있으면 'baby'입니다.

Very nice. ‘baby’ ‘babies’ 

아주 좋아요. '아기' '아기들'

The second word is ‘toy’. Hmmm, vowel + ‘y’. 

두 번째 단어는 '장난감'입니다. 흠, 모음 + 'y'입니다.

So this time, ‘toys’. You simply add an ‘s’. 

그래서 이번에는 '장난감'입니다. 간단히 's'를 추가하면 됩니다.

Then we have ‘wish’. Wish is a word that ends in ‘sh’. 

그렇다면 우리에게는 '소원'이 있습니다. 소원은 '쉬'로 끝나는 단어입니다.

Remember the rule. ‘wishes’ 

규칙을 기억하세요. '소원'

You add ‘es’. ‘taxi’ becomes ‘taxis’. 

'es'를 추가합니다. '택시'는 '택시'가 됩니다.

You simply add an ‘s’. ‘choice’ ‘choices’ 

간단히 's'를 추가하면 됩니다. 'choice' 'choices'

Simply add an ‘s’ as well. Then we have the word ‘wolf’. 

간단히 's'도 추가하세요. 그러면 '늑대'라는 단어가 있습니다.

Aha! It’s a word ending in ‘f’. 

아하! 'f'로 끝나는 단어입니다.

Is it a word with ‘ves’? It is. 

'ves'가 포함된 단어인가요? 그것은.

‘wolves’ And finally, 

'늑대' 그리고 마지막으로

‘photo’ Now remember the words ending in ‘o’? 

'사진' 이제 'o'로 끝나는 단어를 기억하시나요?

You can add ‘es’ or simply ‘s’. Well with photo, you simply add an ‘s’. 

'es' 또는 간단히 's'를 추가할 수 있습니다. 사진에는 ​​'s'만 추가하면 됩니다.

‘photos’ Now if we focus on pronunciation now.

Let’s get started. First,

‘I want a dog.’ ‘I like dogs.’ 

'나는 개를 갖고 싶다.' '나는 개를 좋아해요.'

Repeat after me, guys. ‘I want a dog.’

The second sentence.

In today’s video, I’m going to tell  you about irregular plural nouns. 

오늘 영상에서는 불규칙 복수명사에 대해서 말씀드리겠습니다.

Now there are crazy ways of  making plural forms in English. 

이제 영어로 복수형을 만드는 미친 방법이 있습니다.

And there are a lot of irregular forms. I want you to know about them,  

그리고 불규칙한 형태도 많아요. 나는 당신이 그들에 대해 알고 싶습니다.

so let’s get started. 

그럼 시작하겠습니다.

Again, guys, there are so many  irregular plural forms in English. 

또 여러분, 영어에는 불규칙 복수형이 너무 많아요.

And I’m afraid there are no particular rules. You just need to learn the words. 

그리고 특별한 규칙은 없는 것 같아요. 단어만 익히시면 됩니다.

But I’m going to try and tell  you about the most common ones. 

하지만 저는 가장 일반적인 것들에 대해 말씀드리고자 합니다.

Ok? Let’s review some words together.

Ok, so, for example. We have a singular noun  

예, 예를 들어요. '여자'라는

which is ‘woman’. It’s plural form is ‘women’. 

단수명사가 있습니다 . 복수형은 '여성'이다.

‘woman’ ‘women’ Then we have ‘man’. 

'여자' '여자' 그러면 '남자'가 있습니다.

The singular noun, ‘a man’, it becomes ‘men’. ‘a child’ becomes ‘children’ 

단수명사 'a man'은 'men'이 됩니다. '아이'는 '어린이' '

‘a tooth’ ‘teeth’ ‘a foot’ becomes ‘feet’ 

이' '이' '발'은 '발'이 되고

‘a person’ becomes ‘people’. ‘a mouse’ becomes ‘mice’ 

'사람'은 '사람'이 된다. 'a mouse'는 'mice'가 됩니다

Ok, let’s move on to pronunciation now. Well students, let’s work on pronunciation a bit. 

. 이제 발음을 살펴보겠습니다. 자, 학생 여러분, 발음을 좀 연습해 봅시다.

Please repeat after me. ‘woman’ ‘woman’ 

저를 따라 반복해주세요. '여자' '여자'

‘women’ ‘women’

Excellent, guys. Let’s now move on to other irregular plural forms. 

훌륭해요 여러분. 이제 다른 불규칙 복수형으로 넘어가겠습니다.

Now there are words that have the  exact same singular and plural forms. 

이제 단수형과 복수형이 완전히 동일한 단어가 있습니다.

They are not common, but you need to know a few. Let’s take a look together. 

흔하지는 않지만 몇 가지를 알아야 합니다. 함께 살펴 보겠습니다.

As you can see, ‘sheep’ is the singular form. But the plural form is not ‘sheeps’. 

보시다시피 '양'은 단수형입니다. 하지만 복수형은 '양'이 아닙니다.

It is ‘sheep’. Same goes for ‘deer’ ‘deer’. 

'양' 입니다. '사슴', '사슴'도 마찬가지다.

‘moose’ ‘moose’ ‘fish’ ‘fish’ 

'무스' '무스' '물고기' '물고기'

‘aircraft’ ‘aircraft’ Ok, so you will say, “I see one sheep.” 

'항공기' '항공기' 좋아요, 그러면 "나는 양 한 마리를 봅니다."라고 말할 것입니다.

But also, “I see two sheep.” The exact same word. 

그러나 또한 “양 두 마리가 보입니다.” 똑같은 단어입니다.

Ok, let’s go back for pronunciation. I want you to repeat after me. 

좋아, 발음을 위해 다시 돌아가자. 저를 따라 반복해주세요.

‘sheep’ ‘sheep’ ‘deer’ ‘deer’

Good job guys. Let’s move to other irregular forms.

Some nouns are never singular. We always use their plural forms. 

일부 명사는 단수형이 아닙니다. 우리는 항상 복수형을 사용합니다.

I have a few common ones for you guys. Let’s have a look. 

여러분을 위한 몇 가지 공통점이 있습니다. 한번 살펴보자.

‘jeans’ ‘pants’ 

'청바지' '바지'

‘glasses’ ‘sunglasses’ 

'안경' '선글라스'

‘clothes’ ‘scissors’ 

'옷' '가위' '잠옷' 그러면

‘pajamas’ So you will say,  

'청바지가 있어요' 라고 말할 것입니다

“I have some jeans.” Or, “I have scissors.” 

. 또는 “나에게는 가위가 있습니다.”

But you cannot say, “I have a jean.” It is incorrect in English. 

하지만 “나는 청바지가 있어요.”라고 말할 수는 없습니다. 영어로는 틀리네요.

Let’s work a bit on pronunciation. Repeat after me, please. 

발음에 대해 좀 더 공부해 봅시다. 제 말을 따라 반복해주세요.

Now, just a few words about nouns in  English that have Latin and Greek origins. 

이제 라틴어와 그리스어에서 유래한 영어 명사에 대해 몇 마디 말씀드리겠습니다.

Their plural forms are very weird. It’s a bit complicated, so we’re  

그들의 복수형은 매우 이상합니다. 좀 복잡해서

not going to into too much detail. Don’t worry too much about them. 

자세히 다루지는 않겠습니다. 그들에 대해 너무 걱정하지 마십시오.

But just a few words that I think you should know. First, we have words ending in ‘a’. 

하지만 여러분이 알아야 할 몇 가지 단어만 말씀드리겠습니다. 먼저 'a'로 끝나는 단어가 있습니다.

Their plural form will end in ‘ae’. For example, 

복수형은 'ae'로 끝납니다. 예를 들어

‘antenna’ becomes ‘antennae’ ‘alumna’ ‘alumnae’ 

'antenna'는 'antennae' 'alumna' 'alumnae

Words ending in ‘us’, us, will end in ‘i’. ‘octopus’ ‘octopi’

‘cactus’ ‘cacti’ Words ending in ‘is’, will end in ‘es’. 

'cactus' 'cacti' 'is'로 끝나는 단어는 'es'로 끝납니다.

‘is’ becomes ‘es’. For example, ‘analysis’ ‘analyses’ 

'이다'는 '에'가 됩니다. 예를 들어 '분석' '분석'

‘diagnosis’ ‘diagnoses’ And finally, words ending in ‘on’, end in ‘a’. 

'진단' '진단' 그리고 마지막으로 'on'으로 끝나는 단어는 'a'로 끝납니다.

‘criterion’ ‘criteria’ ‘phenomenon’ ‘phenomena’ 

'기준' '기준' '현상' '현상'

These plural forms are very difficult, guys. Even native speakers make a lot of mistakes,  

이 복수형은 매우 어렵습니다. 원어민이라도 실수하는 경우가 많으니

so don’t worry too much about them. I just wanted to give you a little

taste of Latin and Greek plurals. Let’s move on to example sentences now.

It’s a great opportunity to practice  saying irregular plural forms in English.

Be very careful to use  proper pronunciation as well. 

올바른 발음을 사용하는 데에도 매우 주의하십시오.

Let’s start. First,  

시작하자. 첫째,

‘my sister has one child’ ‘my  brother has two children’. 

'내 여동생은 아이가 하나 있다', '내 동생은 아이가 둘이다'.

Repeat after me. ‘my sister has one child’  

나를 따라 반복하세요. '내 여동생은 아이가 하나 있다'

‘my brother has two children’. Next. 

'내 동생은 아이가 두 명 있다'. 다음.

‘I’m a quiet person, so I  don’t talk to many people.’ 

'나는 조용한 사람이라 많은 사람과 말을 나누지 않는다.'

Please repeat after me. ‘I’m a quiet person,  

저를 따라 반복해주세요. '나는 조용한 사람이다.

so I don’t talk to many people.’

Good guys. Next sentence. 

좋은 사람들. 다음 문장.

‘Did you catch one fish or two fish at the lake?’

Repeat after me, please. ‘Did you catch one fish or two fish at the lake?’

Very good. Next sentence.

‘I have one pair of glasses  and two pairs of sunglasses.’

Excellent, guys. And finally,

‘He has one cactus in his front yard,

but many cacti in his back yard.’ Repeat after me.

‘He has one cactus in his front yard,  but many cacti in his back yard.’

In today’s video, I’m going to  tell you about compound nouns. 

오늘 영상에서는 복합명사에 대해 알려드리겠습니다.

They are very common in English  and there are thousands of them. 

영어에서는 매우 흔하며 수천 개가 있습니다.

You need to know about them. Let’s get started. 

당신은 그들에 대해 알아야합니다. 시작하자.

A compound noun is made up of two different words. So you take two words, you put them together,  

복합명사는 서로 다른 두 단어로 구성됩니다. 그래서 두 단어를 조합하여

to create a new noun. They’re usually quite easy to understand. 

새로운 명사를 만듭니다. 일반적으로 이해하기 매우 쉽습니다.

For example, ‘full moon’. 

예를 들어 '보름달'입니다.

‘Full’ is obviously the  adjective describing the moon. 

'보름'은 분명히 달을 묘사하는 형용사입니다.

Let’s take a look at other examples,  and how to create compound nouns. 

다른 예와 복합명사를 만드는 방법을 살펴보겠습니다.

Sometimes, compound nouns are a single noun. Like, ‘toothpaste’. 

때로는 복합명사가 단일 명사인 경우도 있습니다. '치약' 같은 거죠.

Sometimes, they’re two or more words hyphenated. Such as ‘mother-in-law’. 

때로는 하이픈으로 연결된 두 개 이상의 단어인 경우도 있습니다. '시어머니' 같은 거죠.

And sometimes, they’re two  separate words, like ‘ice cream’. 

때로는 '아이스크림'처럼 두 개의 별도 단어로 사용되기도 합니다.

Now, you have to be careful. Sometimes, you have a simple  

이제 조심해야 합니다. 때로는 'a green house'와 같은 간단한

adjective plus a noun like ‘a green house’. But you also have a compound noun which is  

형용사와 명사가 있는 경우도 있습니다. 하지만 다른 의미를 지닌 복합명사도 있습니다

a different meaning. ‘A greenhouse’. 

. '온실'.

Now, ‘a green house’, is a house which is green. But the compound noun, ‘a greenhouse’,  

이제 '그린하우스'는 친환경적인 집이다. 그런데 복합명사 '온실'은

is a place where you grow plants. Completely different meaning. 

식물을 키우는 곳이에요. 완전히 다른 의미.

Ok, so you have to be careful. Stresses can help. 

알았어, 그러니 조심해야 해. 스트레스가 도움이 될 수 있습니다.

Usually the stress is on the  first syllable in compound nouns. 

일반적으로 복합 명사의 첫 음절에 강세가 나타납니다.

Ok, let’s now take a look at the parts  of speech that make up a compound noun. 

자, 이제 복합 명사를 구성하는 품사를 살펴보겠습니다.

We can have a noun and another noun. Like, ‘bedroom’. 

명사와 또 다른 명사가 있을 수 있습니다. '침실' 같은 거죠.

We can also have a noun and a verb. Like, ‘haircut’. 

명사와 동사도 있을 수 있습니다. '이발' 같은 거죠.

A noun and a preposition. Like, ‘passer-by’. 

명사와 전치사. '행인' 같은 거죠.

A verb and a noun. Like, ‘washing machine’. 

동사와 명사. '세탁기' 같은 거죠.

A verb and a preposition. Like, ‘drawback’. 

동사와 전치사. '단점' 같은 거죠.

A preposition and a noun. Like, ‘underground’. 

전치사와 명사. '지하' 같은 거죠.

An adjective and a ver. Like, ‘dry-cleaning’. 

형용사와 ver. '드라이클리닝' 같은 거죠.

An adjective and a noun. Like, ‘software’. 

형용사와 명사. '소프트웨어' 같은 거죠.

Or a preposition and a verb. Like, ‘input’. 

아니면 전치사와 동사. '입력'과 같습니다.

As you can see guys, there are so many ways  to create compound nouns with different words. 

보시다시피, 다양한 단어로 복합 명사를 만드는 방법은 매우 많습니다.

Now let’s get back to our  example for pronunciation. 

이제 발음에 대한 예로 돌아가 보겠습니다.

Please repeat after me. Bedroom

Good job guys. Now let’s now move on to plural compound nouns. 

잘했어요 얘들아. 이제 복수 복합 명사로 넘어가겠습니다.

So when we want to make compound nouns  plural, there are rules to follow. 

그래서 복합명사를 복수형으로 만들고 싶을 때 따라야 할 규칙이 있습니다.

If you have a single word, you simply add an ‘s’. But if you have separate words,  

단어가 하나인 경우 's'만 추가하면 됩니다. 그러나 하이픈 연결 여부에 관계없이 별도의 단어가 있는 경우

whether hyphenated or not, you will  make the most significant word plural. 

가장 중요한 단어를 복수형으로 만듭니다.

Let’s take a look at examples. 

예제를 살펴보겠습니다.

‘Newspaper’ will simply be ‘newspapers’. So I have man newspapers. 

'신문'은 그냥 '신문'이 됩니다. 그래서 나는 남자 신문을 가지고 있습니다.

Swimming pool. Now, what’s the most significant word? 

수영장. 자, 가장 중요한 단어는 무엇입니까?

Well, it is ‘pool’. So we will say, ‘there are two swimming pools’. 

바로 '수영장'입니다. 그래서 우리는 '수영장이 두 개 있다'고 말할 것입니다.

You cannot say, ‘there are two swimmings pools.’ No ‘s’ at swimming. 

'수영장이 2개 있다'고 말할 수는 없습니다. 수영에는 's'가 없습니다.

Brother-in-law What’s the most significant word? 

형님 가장 중요한 단어는 무엇입니까?

Well of course, it is ‘brother’. So you will say, “I have two brothers-in-law”. 

물론 '형'이다. 그래서 당신은 “나에게는 처남이 두 명 있습니다.”라고 말할 것입니다.

And finally, ‘woman doctor’. Now, what’s the most significant word? 

그리고 마지막으로 '여의사'입니다. 자, 가장 중요한 단어는 무엇입니까?

Actually, both words are significant. So we will both make them plural.

Remember, the plural form of ‘woman’ is ‘women’. So we will say, “Four women doctors work

To practice, I have a few sentences. And I want you to tell me if we are using  

연습을 위해 몇 가지 문장이 있습니다. 그리고 우리가 복합 명사를 사용하고 있는지 여부를 알려주시기 바랍니다

compound nouns or not. Let’s take a look. 

. 한 번 보자.

I want to drink some cold water. Is ‘cold water’ a compound noun? 

시원한 물을 마시고 싶어요. '냉수'는 복합명사인가요?

What do you think? It isn’t. 

어떻게 생각하나요? 그렇지 않습니다.

‘Cold’ is a simply adjective describing the water. 

'Cold'는 물을 묘사하는 단순한 형용사입니다.

She has a new boy friend. Is boy friend a compound noun? 

그녀에게는 새로운 남자 친구가 있습니다. 남자친구는 복합명사인가요?

Well, it isn’t in this case. He’s your friend and he’s a boy. 

글쎄, 이 경우에는 그렇지 않습니다. 그 사람은 당신 친구이고 남자아이예요.

But the compound noun, ‘boyfriend’, in one  word, exists and has a different meaning. 

하지만 한 마디로 '남자친구'라는 복합명사는 존재하며 다른 의미를 갖고 있다.

Then, your boyfriend is more than a friend. He’s the boy you’re having a relationship with. 

그렇다면 당신의 남자친구는 친구 그 이상입니다. 그 사람은 당신과 관계를 맺고 있는 소년이에요.

Other example. The blue bird was singing in the tree. 

다른 예. 파랑새가 나무 위에서 노래를 부르고 있었어요.

Is ‘blue bird’ a compound noun? Not in this case. 

'파랑새'는 복합명사인가요? 이 경우에는 그렇지 않습니다.

It’s a simple bird and it’s blue. But, the compound noun, ‘bluebird’,  

그것은 단순한 새이고 파란색이다. 그러나

in one word, exists. It’s a specific bird. 

한 마디로 '파랑새'라는 복합명사는 존재한다. 특정 새입니다.

Let’s meet at the bus stop. Is ‘bus stop’ a compound noun? 

버스 정류장에서 만나자. '버스 정류장'은 복합명사인가요?

What do you think? It is. 

어떻게 생각하나요? 그것은.

I have two alarms clock. 

알람시계가 두 개 있어요.

What about ‘alarms clock’? Well, it is a compound noun,  

'알람시계'는 어떻습니까? 글쎄요, 복합명사인데

but there is a big mistake. Can you see it? 

큰 실수가 있습니다. 볼 수 있나요?

Of course, the plural form. The plural form is not ‘alarms clock’. 

물론, 복수형입니다. 복수형은 '알람시계'가 아닙니다.

But, ‘alarm clocks’. Because the most significant word is ‘clock’. 

그런데 '알람시계'. 왜냐하면 가장 중요한 단어는 '시계'이기 때문입니다.

The dictionary will tell you  if it’s a compound noun or not.

In this video, I’m going to tell you  about countable and uncountable nouns. 

이번 영상에서는 셀 수 있는 명사와 셀 수 없는 명사에 대해 알려드리겠습니다. 영어에서

It’s very important to know the  difference between countable  

셀 수 있는 명사와 셀 수 없는 명사의 차이를 아는 것은 매우 중요합니다

and uncountable nouns in English. And students often get confused. 

. 그리고 학생들은 종종 혼란스러워합니다.

So please listen to me very carefully. Let’s get started. 

그러니 제 말을 잘 들어주세요. 시작하자.

Countable nouns are nouns that you can count. 

셀 수 있는 명사는 셀 수 있는 명사입니다.

Uncountable nouns are nouns that you can’t count. They’re usually a type or a group. 

셀 수 없는 명사는 셀 수 없는 명사입니다. 일반적으로 유형 또는 그룹입니다.

And they’re always singular. Let’s look at a few examples. 

그리고 그들은 항상 특이합니다. 몇 가지 예를 살펴보겠습니다.

Countable nouns – you can say, “a dog.” You can say, “one dog,” “two  

셀 수 있는 명사 – “개”라고 말할 수 있습니다. “개 한 마리”, “개 두 마리”, “개 세 마리” 등을 말할 수 있습니다 .

dogs,” “three dogs,” and so on. “Man.” 

"남성."

You can say, “a man.” “Two men.” 

"남자"라고 말할 수 있습니다. "두 남자." "아이디어." “하나의 아이디어”, “두 개의 아이디어” 등을 말할 수 있습니다.

“Idea.” You can say, “one idea,” “two ideas,” and so on. 

“Computer.” Again, you can say, “one computer, two computers.” 

"컴퓨터." 다시 말하지만, "컴퓨터 한 대, 컴퓨터 두 대"라고 말할 수 있습니다.

And, “house.” Well, you can say, “one house, two houses,  

그리고, “집.” 글쎄, "한 집, 두 집, 세 집" 등을

three houses,” and so on. These are countable nouns. 

말할 수 있습니다 . 이들은 셀 수 있는 명사입니다.

You can count them. But if we look at uncountable nouns. 

셀 수 있습니다. 하지만 셀 수 없는 명사를 보면요.

When you say, “water.” You can’t say, “One water, two waters.” 

"물"이라고 말하면. “물 하나, 물 두 개”라고 말할 수는 없습니다.

It doesn’t make any sense. You cannot count water. 

그것은 말이 되지 않습니다. 물은 셀 수 없습니다.

Same goes for air. You can’t say, “one air, two airs.” 

공기도 마찬가지다. "1공기, 2공기"라고 말할 수는 없습니다.

It’s just ‘air’. It’s uncountable. 

바로 '공기'입니다. 셀 수 없을 만큼 많습니다.

‘traffic’ ‘English’ 

'traffic' 'English'

‘Equipment’ These are all uncountable nouns. 

'Equipment' 모두 셀 수 없는 명사입니다.

You cannot count them And they’re always singular. 

당신은 그들을 셀 수 없습니다 그리고 그들은 항상 단수입니다.

Okay, guys. Now, let’s take a closer look at rules with  

알았어, 얘들아. 이제 셀 수 있는 명사와 셀 수 없는 명사

countable nouns and uncountable nouns. So how do we know if a word  

에 대한 규칙을 자세히 살펴보겠습니다 . 그러면 단어가

is countable or uncountable? Well there are a few tricks that can help. 

셀 수 있는지 셀 수 없는지 어떻게 알 수 있나요? 도움이 될 수 있는 몇 가지 요령이 있습니다.

Let’s look at these words. Some groups of words are very often uncountable. 

이 단어들을 살펴보겠습니다. 일부 단어 그룹은 셀 수 없는 경우가 많습니다.

And this can help you. For example, liquids. 

그리고 이것이 당신에게 도움이 될 수 있습니다. 예를 들어, 액체.

Water, juice, milk, beer. All those words are uncountable. 

물, 주스, 우유, 맥주. 그 단어들은 모두 셀 수 없을 정도로 많습니다.

Powders. Sugar, flour, salt, rice. 

분말. 설탕, 밀가루, 소금, 쌀.

Uncountable words as well. Materials. Such as wood, plastic, metal, or paper. 

셀 수 없는 단어이기도 합니다. 재료. 목재, 플라스틱, 금속, 종이 등입니다.

Food as well. Like fruit, meat, cheese, and bread. 

음식도 마찬가지입니다. 과일, 고기, 치즈, 빵과 같습니다.

And finally, abstract ideas. Like time, information, love, and beauty. 

그리고 마지막으로 추상적인 아이디어입니다. 시간, 정보, 사랑, 아름다움과 같습니다.

Another trick is that most of the time,  you can measure uncountable nouns. 

또 다른 비결은 대부분의 경우 셀 수 없는 명사를 측정할 수 있다는 것입니다.

Let’s look at examples. For example, if we take liquids. 

예를 살펴 보겠습니다. 예를 들어 액체를 섭취하는 경우입니다.

I have two liters of milk. Now, you cannot count milk. 

나는 우유 2리터를 가지고 있다. 이제 우유는 셀 수 없습니다.

But you can measure milk. And you can count liters. 

하지만 우유를 측정할 수는 있습니다. 그리고 리터를 셀 수도 있습니다.

So you can say, “I have two liters of milk.” You can say, “I have a glass of water.” 

따라서 “나에게는 우유 2리터가 있습니다.”라고 말할 수 있습니다. “물 한 잔 있어요.”라고 말할 수 있습니다.

Or “I have glasses of water.” “Cups of coffee.” 

또는 “물잔이 있어요.” “커피 한잔.”

“Bottles of water.” So you can measure this uncountable noun. 

“물병.” 그래서 이 셀 수 없는 명사를 측정할 수 있습니다.

Same goes with powders. “I have one kilogram of sugar.” 

분말도 마찬가지입니다. “저는 설탕 1kg을 갖고 있습니다.”

“Two kilograms of sugar.” With materials and foods,  

“설탕 2kg입니다.” 재료나 음식에 있어서

we often use the word, ‘piece’. For example, “I ate two pieces of cake.” 

우리는 '조각'이라는 단어를 자주 사용합니다. 예를 들어, “나는 케이크 두 조각을 먹었습니다.”

Or bread. Or pizza. 

아니면 빵. 아니면 피자.

Or meat. Or cheese. 

아니면 고기. 아니면 치즈.

“I need pieces of paper.” Wood. 

“종이가 필요해요.” 목재.

Plastic. Metal. 

플라스틱. 금속.

Or “I have some water.” ‘Some’ is an article that always  

또는 “물이 좀 있어요.” 'Some'은 항상 셀 수 없는 명사와 함께 작동하는 관사입니다

works with uncountable nouns. Ok guys, I hope you understand. 

. 알았어, 이해해줬으면 좋겠어.

Let’s move on. Some words can be both countable  

계속 진행합시다. 일부 단어는 셀 수 있는 명사

and uncountable nouns. Now not all of them. 

와 셀 수 없는 명사가 될 수 있습니다. 이제 그들 모두는 아닙니다.

But some of them. Let’s take a look. 

그러나 그들 중 일부는. 한 번 보자.

“I would like to eat some cake.” “I would like two pieces of cake.” 

“케이크 좀 먹고 싶어요.” “케이크 두 조각 주세요.”

So in these two sentences, ‘cake’  is obviously and uncountable noun. 

따라서 이 두 문장에서 'cake'는 명백하고 셀 수 없는 명사입니다.

But if I say, “I would like to eat two cakes.” Suddenly, it becomes a countable noun. 

그런데 “케이크 두 개 먹고 싶어요.”라고 말하면. 갑자기 셀 수 있는 명사가 됩니다.

Why? Because in the first two sentences,  

왜? 처음 두 문장에서는

we are talking about pieces of one cake. In the last sentence,  

케이크 조각에 대해 이야기하고 있기 때문입니다. 마지막 문장에서는

we are considering the whole cake. So it becomes countable. 

케이크 전체를 고려하고 있습니다. 그래서 셀 수 있게 됩니다.

Another example. “I would like to eat some chicken.” 

다른 예시. “치킨을 먹고 싶어요.”

“I would like to eat a piece of chicken.” Both sentences, uncountable noun, ‘chicken’. 

“치킨 한 조각 먹고 싶어요.” 두 문장 모두 셀 수 없는 명사 '닭'입니다.

But the last sentence, “I see two chickens.” Hmm, ‘chicken’, in this case, is a countable noun. 

그런데 마지막 문장은 “닭 두 마리가 보입니다.”입니다. 흠, 이 경우 'chicken'은 셀 수 있는 명사입니다.

Why? Because  

왜? 왜냐하면

in the first two sentences, ‘chicken’ is food. But in the last sentence, ‘chicken’ is an animal. 

처음 두 문장에서 '닭'은 음식이기 때문입니다. 그런데 마지막 문장에서 '닭'은 동물이에요.

So the animal is a countable noun. ‘Chicken’ as food is uncountable. 

그래서 동물은 셀 수 있는 명사입니다. 음식으로서의 '닭'은 셀 수 없습니다.

Hope you get it. Let’s move on to example sentences now. 

당신이 그것을 얻기를 바랍니다. 이제 예문으로 넘어가겠습니다.

Let’s now review a few example  sentences, so you can practice  

이제 셀 수 있는 명사와 셀 수 없는 명사 사용법을 연습할 수 있도록 몇 가지 예문을 검토해 보겠습니다

using countable and uncountable nouns. Please repeat after me. 

. 저를 따라 반복해주세요.

And be careful to use proper pronunciation. Let’s get started. 

그리고 올바른 발음을 사용하도록 주의하세요. 시작하자.

First sentence guys. “I put one hundred  

첫 번째 문장입니다. “케이크 여섯 개에 양초 100개를 켰어요

candles on six cakes.” Please repeat after me. 

.” 저를 따라 반복해주세요.

“I put one hundred candles on six cakes.” “I put one hundred candles on six cakes.” 

“케이크 여섯 개에 양초 100개를 켰어요.” “케이크 여섯 개에 양초 100개를 켰어요.”

Good job. Second example. 

잘했어요. 두 번째 예.

“I ate two pieces of cake.” 

“케이크 두 조각을 먹었습니다.”

Please repeat after me. “I ate two pieces of cake.” 

저를 따라 반복해주세요. “케이크 두 조각을 먹었습니다.”

“I ate two pieces of cake.” Next sentence. 

“I saw some trash on all the streets.” Please repeat after me. 

“케이크 두 조각을 먹었습니다.” 다음 문장. “거리 곳곳에서 쓰레기를 봤어요.” 저를 따라 반복해주세요.

“I saw some trash on all the streets.” “I saw some trash on all the streets.” 

“거리 곳곳에서 쓰레기를 봤어요.” “거리 곳곳에서 쓰레기를 봤어요.”

Very good. Next one. 

매우 좋은. 다음 것.

“I need to buy some milk and  some butter from the market.” 

“시장에서 우유와 버터를 좀 사야 해요.”

Please repeat after me. 

저를 따라 반복해주세요.

“I need to buy some milk and  some butter from the market.” 

“시장에서 우유와 버터를 좀 사야 해요.”

“I need to buy some milk and  some butter from the market.” 

“시장에서 우유와 버터를 좀 사야 해요.”

And finally. “Traffic and pollution  

그리고 마지막으로. “교통과 오염은

are problems in many cities.” Repeat after me. 

많은 도시에서 문제가 됩니다.” 나를 따라 반복하세요.

“Traffic and pollution are  problems in many cities.” 

“교통과 오염은 많은 도시에서 문제가 됩니다.”

“Traffic and pollution are  problems in many cities.” 

“교통과 오염은 많은 도시에서 문제가 됩니다.”

오늘 영상에서는 형용사에 대해 알아야 할 모든 것을 알려드리겠습니다.

And what they are exactly. The best way to describe  

그리고 그것이 정확히 무엇인지. 영어로 형용사를 설명하는 가장 좋은 방법은

an adjective in English is to say that it’s a word that describes or clarifies a noun. 

그것이 명사를 설명하거나 명확하게 하는 단어라고 말하는 것입니다.

It gives you information on people,  things, ideas, nouns, or pronouns. 

사람, 사물, 아이디어, 명사 또는 대명사에 대한 정보를 제공합니다.

It is very important to  understand what adjectives are 

형용사가 무엇인지 이해

and to know how to use them. Because they are essential when you speak English. 

하고 어떻게 사용하는지 아는 것은 매우 중요합니다. 왜냐하면 영어를 할 때 꼭 필요하기 때문입니다.

Let’s get started. 

시작하자.

Adjectives give us so much  information about nouns. 

형용사는 명사에 대해 많은 정보를 제공합니다.

Let’s, for example, take a common noun, ‘cup’. And see how many ways there  

예를 들어, '컵'이라는 보통명사를 생각해 봅시다. 그리고 다양한 종류의 형용사를 사용하여 컵을 설명하는 영어

are in English to describe a cup using different kinds of adjectives. 

방법이 얼마나 많은지 살펴보세요 . 어디 보자.

Let’s see. We can say,  

우리는 “정말 좋은 컵이다”라고

“It’s a great cup.” Just give your opinion. 

말할 수 있습니다 . 그냥 당신의 의견을 제공합니다.

“It’s a big cup.” Talking  about the size of the cup. 

“큰 컵이군요.” 컵의 크기에 대해 이야기합니다.

If you want to talk about the  shape of the cup you could say, 

컵의 모양에 대해 이야기하고 싶다면

“It’s a round cup.” “It’s an old cup.” 

“둥근 컵이에요.”라고 말할 수 있습니다. “오래된 컵이군요.”

If you want to talk about age. Or if you want to say what colour it is, 

나이에 대해 이야기하고 싶다면. 혹은 무슨 색인지 묻고 싶다면

“It’s a white cup.” Or talking about temperature, 

“흰색 컵이에요.”라고 말해보세요. 또는 온도에 관해 이야기하면

“It’s a cold cup.” “It’s a broken cup.” If you make observations. 

“차가운 컵이에요.” “깨진 컵이에요.” 관찰을 한다면.

“It’s a Korean cup.” Talking about origins. Or you can mention the material. 

“한국 컵이에요.” 유래에 대해 이야기합니다. 아니면 자료를 언급해도 됩니다.

“It’s a plastic cup.” Or “It’s a coffee cup.”  

“플라스틱 컵이에요.” 또는 “커피잔이에요.”

Talking about the purpose of the cup. Now ‘coffee’ as you know is a noun. 

컵의 목적에 대해 이야기합니다. 이제 아시다시피 '커피'는 명사입니다.

But in this case, it can be used as an adjective. All these adjectives are places before the noun. 

하지만 이 경우에는 형용사로 사용될 수 있습니다. 이 형용사는 모두 명사 앞에 위치합니다.

Let’s learn more about adjectives. Adjectives can found before the noun. 

형용사에 대해 자세히 알아봅시다. 형용사는 명사 앞에 위치할 수 있습니다.

It’s called the attribute position. Or after the noun. 

이를 속성 위치라고 합니다. 아니면 명사 뒤에.

Which is called the predicative position. And it’s just as common. 

이를 예측적 위치라고 합니다. 그리고 그것은 흔합니다.

Adjectives which are found after a  verb, describe the subject of this verb. 

동사 뒤에 오는 형용사는 이 동사의 주어를 설명합니다.

Usually a noun or a pronoun. So if we take the sentence, “The girl is nice.” 

일반적으로 명사 또는 대명사입니다. 그래서 우리가 "그 여자는 착하다"라는 문장을 취한다면.

The adjective, ‘nice’, refers to the  subject of the sentence, ‘the girl’. 

형용사 'nice'는 문장의 주어 'the girl'을 가리킵니다.

But it is placed after the verb ‘to be’. “My students are happy.” 

하지만 동사 'to be' 뒤에 위치합니다. “학생들이 행복해요.”

Same thing. The adjective, ‘happy’, describes  

같은 것. 형용사 '행복하다'는

the subject of the sentence, ‘my students’. But it is placed after the verb. 

'나의 학생들'이라는 문장의 주어를 묘사합니다. 하지만 동사 뒤에 위치합니다.

I hope you understand guys. Let’s move on to practice now. 

이해해 주시길 바랍니다. 이제 연습을 시작해 보겠습니다.

Let’s now practice finding  adjectives in a few sentences. 

이제 몇 문장에서 형용사를 찾는 연습을 해보세요.

“I’m a tall woman.” Can you see the adjective in this sentence? 

“저는 키가 큰 여자예요.” 이 문장에서 형용사가 보이나요?

I hope you can. The adjective is ‘tall’. 

나는 당신이 할 수 있기를 바랍니다. 형용사는 '키가 크다'입니다.

It gives you the height of the woman. 

그것은 당신에게 여자의 키를 제공합니다.

“I’m a British woman.” Now where is the adjective? 

“저는 영국 여자예요.” 이제 형용사는 어디에 있습니까?

The adjective is ‘British’. Gives you the origins of this woman. 

형용사는 '영국인'이다. 이 여성의 기원을 알려드립니다.

“I have blonde hair.” Now what’s the adjective in this sentence? 

“나는 금발 머리를 가지고 있어요.” 이제 이 문장에서 형용사는 무엇일까요?

Of course guys, it is ‘blonde’. It gives you the color of the hair. 

물론이죠 여러분, 그것은 '금발'입니다. 머리카락의 색깔을 알려줍니다.

“My eyes are blue.” Now that’s a different sentence. 

"내눈은 파래." 이제 다른 문장이 되었습니다.

Can you spot the adjective? The adjective is ‘blue. 

형용사를 찾을 수 있나요? 형용사는 '파란색'이다.

What’s blue? My eyes. 

파란색은 무엇입니까? 내 눈.

‘My eyes’ is the subject of the sentence and the adjective is ‘blue’. 

'내 눈'은 문장의 주어이고 형용사는 'blue'입니다.

“I’m nice.” Again, can you spot the adjective? 

“괜찮아요.” 다시 한 번, 형용사를 찾을 수 있나요?

It’s ‘nice’. Okay? 

'좋다'입니다. 좋아요?

And finally, “The weather is cold.” 

그리고 마지막으로 “날씨가 춥습니다.”

What’s the adjective? 

형용사는 무엇입니까?

Where is it? Can you see it? 

어디입니까? 볼 수 있나요?

The adjective is ‘cold’. What’s cold? 

형용사는 '춥다'이다. 뭐가 추워?

The weather. ‘The weather’ is the  

날씨. '날씨'가 주어이고

subject and the adjective is ‘cold’. Now in the first three sentences,  

형용사는 '춥다'입니다. 이제 처음 세 문장에서는

it’s the attribute position. Remember? 

속성 위치입니다. 기억하다?

The adjective comes before the noun. And in the last three sentences, it’s  

형용사는 명사 앞에 옵니다. 그리고 마지막 세 문장에서는

the predicative position. Remember? 

서술적 위치입니다. 기억하다?

The adjective comes after the noun. And in this case, after the verb ‘to be’. 

형용사는 명사 뒤에 옵니다. 그리고 이 경우에는 'to be' 동사 뒤에 있습니다.

Let’s go through the sentences again. This time focusing on pronunciation. 

It’s very important that you  repeat the sentences after me 

to practice saying these adjectives in a sentence. Okay, let’s get started. 

다시 문장을 살펴보겠습니다. 이번에는 발음에 집중했습니다. 문장에서 이러한 형용사를 말하는 연습을 하려면

저를 따라 문장을 반복하는 것이 매우 중요합니다 . 좋아요, 시작해 보겠습니다.

“I’m a tall woman.” Can you repeat after me? 

“저는 키가 큰 여자예요.” 제 말을 따라 다시 말씀해 주시겠어요?

Twice. First, “I’m  

두 배. 첫째, “저는

a tall woman.” “I’m a tall woman.” 

키가 큰 여자예요.” “저는 키가 큰 여자예요.”

Very good. Moving on. 

매우 좋은. 계속해서.

“I’m a British woman.” Repeat after me. 

“저는 영국 여자예요.” 나를 따라 반복하세요.

“I’m a British woman.” “I’m a British woman.”

Good. Third sentence

“I have blonde hair.” So repeat after me

Very good. “My eyes are blue.”

Repeat after me. “My eyes are blue.” 

나를 따라 반복하세요. "내눈은 파래."

“My eyes are blue.” Next one. 

“I’m nice.” Repeat after me. 

"내눈은 파래." 다음 것.

“괜찮아요.” 나를 따라 반복하세요.

“I’m nice.” “I’m nice.” 

“괜찮아요.” “괜찮아요.”

Good job. And finally, 

잘했어요. 그리고 마지막으로

“The weather is cold.” Please repeat. 

“날씨가 춥습니다.” 반복해주세요.

Welcome to this English course on adjectives. In today’s video, I’m going to talk about  

형용사에 관한 영어 강좌에 오신 것을 환영합니다. 오늘 영상에서는

prefixes and suffixes that are commonly  added to adjectives in English. 

영어에서 형용사에 흔히 붙이는 접두사와 접미사에 대해 이야기해보겠습니다

A prefix is a few letters added to a beginning  of a word to change the meaning of that word. 

. 접두사는 해당 단어의 의미를 변경하기 위해 단어 시작 부분에 추가되는 몇 글자입니다.

And a suffix is a few letters added to  the end of the word to change the meaning. 

그리고 접미사는 의미를 바꾸기 위해 단어 끝에 몇 개의 문자를 추가하는 것입니다.

We’ll get more into detail. Let’s get started. 

좀 더 자세히 알아보겠습니다. 시작하자.

Let’s take a look at a few  adjectives with prefixes. 

접두사가 있는 몇 가지 형용사를 살펴보겠습니다.

Again a ‘prefix’ is a few letters added  to the beginning of the adjective. 

역시 '접두사'는 형용사의 시작 부분에 추가되는 몇 글자입니다.

Mostly to make it negative. Let’s take a look at a few examples. 

대부분 부정적으로 만듭니다. 몇 가지 예를 살펴보겠습니다.

First we have the prefix ‘un’. U, n. For example, if we take the word, ‘fair’, and  

먼저 접두사 'un'이 있습니다. 유, 엔. 예를 들어 'fair'라는 단어를

want to make it negative, we can add u – n to have  the word ‘unfair’ which is the opposite of fair. 

부정어로 만들고 싶다면 u – n을 추가하여 fair의 반대인 'unfair'라는 단어를 가질 수 있습니다.

Same goes for ‘happy’. ‘unhappy’ 

'행복하다'도 마찬가지다. '불행하다'

‘sure’ become ‘unsure’. 

'확실하다'는 '확실하지 않다'가 됩니다.

Another prefix is i –n , ‘in’. To make the adjective negative, again, 

또 다른 접두사는 i –n, 'in'입니다. 형용사를 부정어로 만들려면 다시

For example, ‘active’ – ‘inactive’. ‘appropriate’ 

예를 들어 '활성' – '비활성'을 사용합니다. '적절한'

’inappropriate’ ‘complete’ 

'부적절한' '완전한'

‘incomplete’ The prefix i –r now, ‘ir’. 

'불완전한' 접두사 i –r은 이제 'ir'입니다.

For example, ‘responsible’ 

예를 들어, '책임감 있는'

‘irresponsible’ ‘regular’ 

'무책임한' '일반'

‘irregular’ ‘rational’ 

'불규칙한' '합리적인'

‘irrational’ 

'비합리적인'

Then we have the prefix i –m, ‘im’. For example, 

그런 다음 접두사 i –m, 'im'이 있습니다. 예를 들어

‘balance’ ‘imbalance’ 

'균형' '불균형'

‘polite’ ‘impolite’ 

'예의바르다' '무례하다'

‘possible’ ‘impossible’ 

'가능하다' '불가능하다'

And finally, the prefix, ‘il’. I – l. 

그리고 마지막으로 접두사 '일'. 나-엘.

Like, ‘legal’ ‘illegal’ 

예를 들어, '합법적' '불법' '

‘literate’ ‘illiterate’ 

글을 읽을 수 있다' '문맹'

‘logical’ ‘illogical’ 

'논리적' '비논리적'

These are just a few examples, guys. There are so many other prefixes in English. 

이것들은 단지 몇 가지 예일 뿐입니다. 영어에는 이 외에도 많은 접두사가 있습니다.

But I hope you now have a better understanding. 

하지만 이제 더 잘 이해하셨기를 바랍니다.

Let’s move on. Let’s now talk about suffixes. 

계속 진행합시다. 이제 접미사에 대해 이야기합시다.

In English, you can add a few letters to a  noun or a verb to make it into an adjective. 

영어에서는 명사나 동사에 몇 글자를 더해 형용사로 만들 수 있습니다.

Not necessarily a negative adjective. It’s not like prefixes. 

반드시 부정적인 형용사는 아닙니다. 접두사와는 다릅니다.

There are so many suffixes in English,  but here is a list of very common ones. 

영어에는 매우 많은 접미사가 있지만 여기에는 매우 일반적인 접미사의 목록이 있습니다.

We can find a suffix ‘able’. Like, ‘adorable’. 

접미사 'able'을 찾을 수 있습니다. '귀엽다' 같은 거죠.

‘comfortable’ Also the suffix  

'comfortable' 또한 접미사

‘en’, e – n. Like, ‘broken’. 

'en', e – n. 마치 '부러진' 것 같은.

‘golden’ ‘ese’ 

'황금' 'ese'

Like, ‘Chinese’. ‘Japanese’ 

'중국어' 같은 거죠. '일본어'

‘ful’ Like, ‘wonderful’. 

'full' '멋지다' 같은 거죠.

‘powerful’ ‘ative’ 

'강력한' '진동적인'

Like, ‘informative’. ‘talkative’ 

'유익한' 같은 거죠. '수다쟁이'

‘ous’ ‘dangerous’ 

'우리' '위험한'

‘enormous’ Or ‘some’. 

'엄청난' 또는 '어떤'.

Like, ‘awesome’. ‘handsome’ 

'대박' 같은 거죠. '잘생긴'

Again, these are just a few examples. There are so many suffixes. 

다시 말하지만, 이것들은 단지 몇 가지 예일 뿐입니다. 접미사가 너무 많습니다.

But I hope you now have a good idea  of how to use suffixes in English. 

하지만 이제 영어에서 접미사를 사용하는 방법에 대해 좋은 아이디어를 가지셨기를 바랍니다.

Let’s now move on to practice.

Okay, guys. Let’s practice finding  

알았어, 얘들아. 다음 문장에서 형용사

adjectives in the following sentences. And prefixes or suffixes. 

찾는 연습을 해보세요 . 그리고 접두사 또는 접미사.

Let’s have a look. “I have an uncomfortable seat.” 

한번 살펴보자. “좌석이 불편해요.”

Now, can you spot the adjective, first? Of course, the adjective here is ‘uncomfortable’. 

자, 먼저 형용사를 찾아보실 수 있나요? 물론 여기서 형용사는 '불편하다'이다.

Can you see any prefix or suffix? 

접두사나 접미사가 보이시나요?

I do. There is a prefix, which is ‘un’. 

그래요. 'un'이라는 접두사가 있습니다.

And there is a suffix as well. The suffix, ‘able’. 

그리고 접미사도 있습니다. 접미사 '할 수 있다'.

Okay, so look at how we transformed the word. The first word was ‘comfort’ in English. 

좋아요, 그럼 우리가 그 단어를 어떻게 변형시켰는지 보세요. 첫 번째 단어는 영어로 'comfort'였습니다.

First, we added a suffix to make it into  an adjective, which is ‘comfortable’. 

먼저 '편안하다'라는 뜻의 형용사로 만들기 위해 접미사를 붙였습니다.

And then we added a prefix,  ‘un’, to make it negative. 

그런 다음 부정문으로 만들기 위해 접두사 'un'을 추가했습니다.

So the seat is not comfortable,  it is uncomfortable. 

그래서 자리가 편하지 않고, 불편해요.

That’s how prefixes and  suffixes can be used in English. 

이것이 영어에서 접두사와 접미사가 사용되는 방식입니다.

The second sentence, “She has a black car.” Can you spot the adjective, first. 

두 번째 문장은 “그녀는 검은색 차를 가지고 있어요.”입니다. 먼저 형용사를 찾아보세요.

Of course, it’s the adjective ‘black’. Is there a suffix or a prefix? 

물론 형용사 '검은색'이다. 접미사나 접두사가 있나요?

No, there isn’t. Next sentence. 

아니요, 없습니다. 다음 문장.

“His father was unhelpful.” What’s the adjective? 

“그의 아버지는 도움이 되지 않았어요.” 형용사는 무엇입니까?

‘unhelpful’ Of course. 

'도움이 되지 않는다' 물론이죠.

Any prefix, suffix? Yes, there is a prefix. 

접두사, 접미사 있나요? 예, 접두어가 있습니다.

Again, which is ‘un’. To make the adjective negative. 

다시 말하지만, 'un'입니다. 형용사를 부정적으로 만들려면.

And there is a suffix, ‘ful’. To make the noun ‘help’ into an adjective. 

그리고 접미사 'ful'이 있습니다. 'help'라는 명사를 형용사로 만들다.

‘unhelpful’ Next sentence. 

'도움이 되지 않는다' 다음 문장입니다.

“The actor is handsome.” The adjective, of course, is ‘handsome’. 

“배우가 멋있어요.” 물론 형용사는 '잘생겼다'이다.

Is there a prefix? No, there isn’t. Is there a suffix? 

접두어가 있나요? 아니요, 없습니다. 접미사가 있나요?

Of course, ‘some’. ‘handsome’ 

물론 '일부'입니다. '잘생겼다'

“I hate oily food.” The adjective is ‘oily’. 

'기름진 음식은 싫어요.' 형용사는 '기름진'이다.

Of course. Is there a prefix? 

물론. 접두어가 있나요?

There isn’t.

없습니다.

Is there a suffix? 

접미사가 있나요?

Of course. The ‘y’ is a suffix. 

물론. 'y'는 접미사입니다.

You have the word, the noun, ‘oil’. And to make it into an adjective you  

'기름'이라는 명사라는 단어가 있습니다. 그리고 형용사로 만들려면

add the suffix ‘y’. And finally, 

접미사 'y'를 추가하세요. 그리고 마지막으로

“She is a dishonest woman.” The adjective is ‘dishonest’, of course. 

“그 사람은 부정직한 여자입니다.” 물론 형용사는 '부정직하다'이다.

Do you have a prefix? We do. Yes. 

프리픽스가 있나요? 우리는하다. 예.

We have the prefix, ‘dis’. It shows this woman  

접두사 'dis'가 있습니다. 그것은 이 여자가

is not honest, she is dishonest. Okay, so that’s how with prefixes and suffixes  

정직하지 않고 부정직하다는 것을 보여줍니다. 좋아요, 이것이 바로 접두사와 접미사를 사용하여

we can really transform words in English. It’s wonderful isn’t it?

There are thousands of prefixes and suffixes. Again, these are just a few examples.

But I hope you now understand how it works in  English and how you can really transform and play

Good. Moving on.

And finally. “She is a dishonest woman.”

“She is a dishonest woman.” Excellent guys.

In this video, I will be talking to you  about adjectives ending in ‘ed’ or ‘ing’. 

이번 영상에서는 'ed'나 'ing'으로 끝나는 형용사에 대해 이야기해보겠습니다.

These adjectives are very common  in English and they often confuse  

이러한 형용사는 영어에서 매우 흔하며

students and learners in general. 

일반적으로 학생과 학습자를 혼동하는 경우가 많습니다.

So please be really careful. Listen  very carefully. Repeat after me. 

그러니 정말 조심하시기 바랍니다. 아주 주의 깊게 들어보세요. 나를 따라 반복하세요.

Try and understand what the difference is. Let's get started 

차이점이 무엇인지 알아보고 이해해 보세요. 시작하자

Adjectives ending in ‘ed’,  describe a person's feeling. 

'ed'로 끝나는 형용사는 사람의 감정을 묘사합니다.

For example, ‘bored’. ‘I am bored.’ 

예를 들어 '지루하다'. '심심해요.'

Adjectives ending in ‘ing’  describe a situation or an event. 

'ing'으로 끝나는 형용사는 상황이나 사건을 묘사합니다.

For example, ‘boring’. Let's take a sentence. 

예를 들어 '지루하다'. 한 문장을 들어보자.

‘This film is boring.’ Ok that's the event. 

'이 영화는 지루하다.' 응, 그게 이벤트야.

It's boring. And because the film is boring, I am bored. 

그것은 지루. 그리고 영화가 지루해서 나도 지루하다.

That's my feeling. I hope you get it. 

그게 내 느낌이야. 당신이 그것을 얻기를 바랍니다.

Let's get a few more common examples. For example, ‘annoyed’ and ‘annoying’. 

몇 가지 일반적인 예를 더 들어보겠습니다. 예를 들어, '짜증난다', '짜증난다'.

‘He is annoyed’. That's a feeling. 

'그는 짜증이 난다'. 그것은 느낌입니다.

‘The noise is annoying’. You're now describing the noise.

Other example, ‘confused’, ‘confusing’. ‘The student was confused’.

‘The English was confusing’. ‘depressed’

‘depressing’ ‘My mom was depressed’.

‘frustrated’ ‘frustrating’

‘My dog is frustrated.’ ‘Staying home all day is frustrating.’ 

'우리 강아지가 답답해요.' '하루 종일 집에 있으면 답답해요.'

‘frightened’ ‘frightening’ 

'무서워요' '무서워요'

‘My little sister is frightened of the dark.’ ‘A dark room is frightening.’ 

'내 여동생은 어둠을 무서워해요.' '어두운 방은 무섭다.'

‘satisfied’ ‘satisfying’ 

'만족해요' '만족해요'

‘My dad is satisfied.’ ‘He has a satisfying job’. 

'아빠가 만족해요.' '그는 만족스러운 직업을 갖고 있다'.

‘shocked’ ‘shocking’ 

'충격적이다' '충격적이다'

‘We were shocked by the accident.’ ‘It was a shocking accident’. 

'사고로 우리는 충격을 받았다.' '충격적인 사고였다'.

‘interested’ ‘interesting’ 

'관심있다' '흥미롭다'

‘I'm interested in articles.’ ‘I'm reading an interesting article’. 

'기사에 관심이 있어요.' '흥미로운 기사를 읽고 있어요'

Last example, two sentences,  two different meanings. 

마지막 예는 두 문장, 두 가지 다른 의미입니다.

Look at these: ‘The teacher was bored.’ 

이것을 보세요: '선생님은 지루했어요.'

‘The teacher was boring.’ Now you really have to  

'선생님이 지루했어요.' 이제

understand the difference between those two because the meaning is not the same at all. 

의미가 전혀 동일하지 않기 때문에 이 둘의 차이점을 실제로 이해해야 합니다

When you say ‘the teacher was bored’, you are describing the teacher’s feeling. 

. '선생님이 심심했어요'라고 말하면 선생님의 심정을 표현한 것입니다.

Okay, that's how the teacher felt at that time. He or she was bored. 

맞아요, 그때 선생님도 그랬어요. 그 또는 그녀는 지루했습니다.

But when you say ‘the teacher was boring’, 

하지만 '선생님이 지루했다'고 말하면

you are describing the teacher. Okay, the teacher made the students  

선생님을 묘사하는 것입니다. 좋아요, 선생님은 학생들이

feel bored because he or she was boring. Okay, so remember ‘ed’ is for feelings. 

지루하기 때문에 학생들을 지루하게 만들었습니다. 좋아요, 'ed'가 감정을 뜻한다는 걸 기억하세요.

And ‘ing’ is to describe  events, things, situations. 

그리고 'ing'은 사건, 사물, 상황을 묘사하는 것입니다.

Okay let's move on to practice now. I now have a few example sentences for you. 

좋아, 이제 연습을 시작해 보자. 이제 몇 가지 예문을 보여 드리겠습니다.

Let's have a look together. ‘Wow I am excited or exciting about my new car’ 

함께 살펴봅시다. '와, 새 차가 생겨서 신난다, 기대된다'

Now what’s the correct answer? What do you think? 

이제 정답은 무엇일까요? 어떻게 생각하나요?

Now remember ‘ed’ to talk about feelings. ‘ing’ to describe things. 

이제 감정에 대해 이야기하는 'ed'를 기억하세요. 'ing'은 사물을 묘사하는 것입니다.

In this case, are you talking about your  feelings or are you describing your new car. 

이 경우에는 자신의 감정에 대해 이야기하고 있습니까, 아니면 새 차를 묘사하고 있습니까?

Of course you are talking about your feelings. So ‘Wow I'm excited about my new car.’

Second example: ‘Try not to get

Now what do you think are you talking  about feelings are you describing things?

Of course, again, we're talking  about feelings in this sentence.

‘Try not to get bored when you study English.’ Then, ‘Math is confused or confusing to me.’? 

'영어 공부할 때 지루하지 않게 노력하세요.' 그렇다면 '수학은 나에게 헷갈린다, 헷갈린다.'?

Do you know the answer? You are describing math to you. 

넌 답을 알고 있니? 당신은 수학을 설명하고 있습니다.

It is confusing to you. So math is confusing to me. 

그것은 당신에게 혼란스럽습니다. 그래서 수학은 나에게 혼란스럽다.

‘It was a thrilled or  thrilling rollercoaster ride.’? 

'그것은 스릴이 넘쳤거나 스릴 넘치는 롤러코스터를 탔습니다.'?

Now in this case, if you think for a minute,  can a roller-coaster ride feel anything?

In this video, I'm gonna talk  to you about adjectives order 

이번 영상에서는 명사를 수식하기 위해 하나 이상의 형용사를 사용하는 문장에서

in a sentence using more than one adjective to modify a noun. 

형용사 순서에 대해 이야기하겠습니다 .

Now this is a very important topic because if you use more than one 

이제 이것은 매우 중요한 주제입니다. 명사를 수식하기 위해 두 개 이상의

adjective to modify a noun, you have to follow a specific order,  

형용사를 사용하는 경우 특정 순서를 따라야 하므로

so you need to keep watching. Let's get started.

Let's take a look at this adjective order. 

이 형용사 순서를 살펴보겠습니다.

It looks like a lot at first, but you will  learn very fast and practice will help. 

처음에는 많아 보이지만, 학습 속도가 매우 빠르며 연습을 하면 도움이 될 것입니다.

Let's have a look together. First, we will use the adjectives  

함께 살펴봅시다. 먼저 품질을 설명하거나 의견을 제시하는

describing quality or giving your opinion. Like delicious, beautiful, or good. 

형용사를 사용하겠습니다 . 맛있다, 아름답다, 좋다 등.

Then, we will talk about size. Adjectives like tall, short, big. 

그럼 사이즈에 대해 이야기해보겠습니다. 키가 크다, 짧다, 크다 같은 형용사입니다.

Then comes age. Like old, young, new, twenty-year-old. 

그러면 나이가 온다. 늙고, 젊고, 새로운, 스무 살처럼.

Then comes shape. Adjectives like 

그런 다음 모양이 나옵니다.

round, or square. Then color - red, green, blue. 

원형, 정사각형 등 의 형용사입니다 . 그런 다음 색상 - 빨간색, 녹색, 파란색.

Origin - like Korean, Mexican, or American. 

원산지 - 한국, 멕시코, 미국 등.

Material - like glass, gold, or wooden. And finally, purpose adjectives 

재질 - 유리, 금, 나무 등. 그리고 마지막으로 목적 형용사

like sport or coffee. Remember my cup from the first video?

Well we could say - it's a great big

old round white Korean plastic cup. So a great - giving my opinion.

big - the size. old - the age.

plastic - the material. That's the adjective order.

I cannot break it. I have to follow it.

Don't worry guys. Most of the time you will only use one

maybe two or three adjectives in one sentence. But still you have to follow this order.

Let's now look together at a few  sentences with multiple adjectives.

For example, these beautiful  young girls went to school.

First, how many adjectives  do you see in that sentence?

I see two adjectives beautiful and young. The order is beautiful - your opinion. 

아름답고 젊다는 형용사 두 개가 보입니다. 순서는 아름답습니다. 귀하의 의견입니다.

And then, 'young' for age.

Second example. I have dirty old running shoes.

How many adjectives can you see? There are three.

Dirty - your opinion. Old -the age

Now how many adjectives can you see in this sentence?

I got a gold new watch. Again, I suppose you know - two adjectives.

Gold for the material. and new for the age.

We have 'cute' for your opinion. ' 'little' for the size.

'white' for the color. And the order is correct.

In this video, I'm going to talk to  you about intensifiers and mitigators. 

이번 영상에서는 강화제와 완화제에 대해 이야기해보겠습니다.

Now what are those? Don't be scared of their names. 

이제 그것들은 무엇입니까? 그들의 이름을 두려워하지 마십시오.

Intensifiers are simply words that  will make adjectives stronger. 

강화자는 단순히 형용사를 더 강하게 만드는 단어입니다.

They will give adjectives  more power or more emphasis. 

형용사에 더 많은 힘과 강조점을 부여합니다.

For example, two very common intensifiers  in English are ‘really’ and ‘very’. 

예를 들어, 영어에서 매우 일반적인 두 가지 강화사는 'really'와 'very'입니다.

Mitigators on the other hand, make the adjectives  weaker like the words brother or family. 

반면 완화자는 형제나 가족이라는 단어처럼 형용사를 약하게 만듭니다.

But we're gonna go into a little more detail. Keep watching.

Let's start with intensifiers. And I have a list of intensifies for you. 

강화 장치부터 시작해 보겠습니다. 그리고 나는 당신을 위한 강화 목록을 가지고 있습니다.

Of course these are not all of them,  but it's a good start because they are

very common in English. Let's have a look.

The adjectives in this sentence is  interesting and we make it stronger

with the intensifier, ‘really’. It's really interesting.

very For example, I'm very happy to learn English. 

매우 예를 들어, 나는 영어를 배우게 되어 매우 행복합니다.

The adjective is ‘happy’. And we give it more power with the intensifier. 

형용사는 '행복하다'이다. 그리고 강화 장치를 사용하여 더 많은 전력을 공급합니다.

very I am very happy to learn English.

Other intensifiers include absolutely. or example your new dress is absolutely

amazing. ‘extremely’

Like ‘It's extremely cold outside.”

And finally, ‘enough’. ‘He isn't old enough to drive.’

Now for this last sentence, the adjective  is old and II intensifier is enough.

It's a special case because as you can hear and  see, ‘enough’ always comes after the adjective. 

듣고 볼 수 있듯이 'enough'는 항상 형용사 뒤에 오기 때문에 특별한 경우입니다.

Intensifiers are commonly used with  comparative and superlative adjectives. 

강화사는 일반적으로 비교급 및 최상급 형용사와 함께 사용됩니다.

For example, with comparative  adjectives, we offer news much. 

예를 들어 비교형용사를 사용하면 뉴스를 많이 제공합니다.

For example, ‘He runs much faster than me.’ ‘Faster’ is the comparative form  

예를 들어, '그는 나보다 훨씬 빨리 달린다.' '빠르다'는 형용사 '빠르다'의

of the adjective ‘fast’. And to intensify the comparison,  

비교급입니다 . 그리고 비교를 강화하기 위해

we use the intensifier ‘much’. So he runs much faster than me. 

강화사 'much'를 사용합니다. 그래서 그는 나보다 훨씬 빨리 달립니다.

We also use ‘a lot’. For example, ‘This red bag

is a lot heavier than this white bag’. ‘heavier’ is the comparative form of

the adjective ‘heavy’. And we make it even more

powerful with ‘a lot heavier’. And we also use ‘fun’.

For example, ‘She is far taller than me’. ‘taller’ is the comparative of ‘tall’. 

예를 들어, '그녀는 나보다 키가 훨씬 큽니다.' 'taller'는 'tall'의 비교급입니다.

We make it more powerful with ‘far’. ‘Far taller than me’. 

'far'로 더욱 강력하게 만듭니다. '나보다 훨씬 크다'.

Now with superlative  adjectives, we can use ‘easily’. 

이제 최상급 형용사와 함께 '쉽게'를 사용할 수 있습니다.

For example, ‘This is easily  the best restaurant in town’.

‘best’ is the superlative  form of the adjective ‘good’. 

'최고'는 형용사 '좋다'의 최상급 형태입니다.

And we make it even more powerful by  saying, ‘easily the best restaurant’. 

그리고 '쉽게 최고의 레스토랑'이라고 말하며 이를 더욱 강력하게 만듭니다.

And we also use ‘by far’. For example,  

그리고 'by Far'도 사용합니다. 예를 들어,

‘Sarah is by far the smartest girl in class’. Let's move on to mitigators. 

'사라는 학급에서 가장 똑똑한 소녀입니다'. 완화기로 넘어 갑시다.

Now mitigators are the opposite of intensifiers. They weaken the adjectives. 

이제 완화제는 강화제의 반대입니다. 그들은 형용사를 약화시킵니다.

Let's look at a few examples. Mitigators include ‘fairly’. 

몇 가지 예를 살펴보겠습니다. 완화 항목에는 '상당히'가 포함됩니다.

For example, ‘It's fairly sunny today’. The adjective ‘sunny’ is

weakened by the mitigator ‘fairly’. So it's not sunny it's a bit less than sunny.

Other mitigator ‘rather’. So when I say, ‘I'm rather tired’,

The adjective is less powerful  because of this ‘rather’.

Other example, ‘pretty’. ‘It's pretty expensive’.

Which means it's not expensive. It's a little bit less.

Oh quite like, ‘The movie was quite good’. The adjective ‘good’

is less powerful because of this ‘quite’. Now be very careful because if you use ‘quite’  

'terrible', 'perfect', 'enormous', 'excellent'와 같은 극단적인 형용사와 함께

with an extreme adjective such as ‘terrible’, ‘perfect’, ‘enormous’, or ‘excellent’ – 

'quite'를 사용하면 'quite'는

quite means ‘absolutely’. It becomes an intensifier. 

'절대적으로'를 의미하므로 매우 주의하세요. 강화 장치가 됩니다.

For example, ‘She is quite gorgeous.’ Means she is absolutely gorgeous. 

예를 들어, '그녀는 정말 아름답습니다.' 그녀가 정말 멋지다는 뜻이에요.

It's more powerful because  of the intensified ‘quite’. 

'아주'가 강화되었기 때문에 더욱 강력하다.

So be very careful when you use ‘quite’  because depending on the adjective that you

choose it has a different meaning. And it can be either an intensifier

or a mitigator. Let's move on.

Just as intensifiers, mitigators can  be used with comparative adjectives.

Let's look at a few examples. We can use ‘a bit’.

For example, ‘He's a bit faster than me’. When you say, “He's a bit faster than me,” it's

less powerful than “He's faster than me.” So ‘a bit’ it's mitigates it weakens ‘faster’.

Same goes for ‘rather’. For example,

Third case we can say ‘a little bit’. For example, ‘There's a little bit more  

rain today than yesterday’. It's less powerful then. 

There's more rain. And finally we can say, ‘slightly’.

For example, ‘My car is  slightly older than your car’.

So it's just a little bit older than your car. It's weak because of this mitigator.

Let's now move on to practice. I want things to be very clear so I

‘It's a very interesting game’. Now what's the adjective in that sentence?

‘interesting’ of course. What about ‘very’. 

물론 '흥미롭다'. '매우'는 어떻습니까?

Is it an intensifier or a mitigator? What do you think? 

강화제인가요 아니면 완화제인가요? 어떻게 생각하나요?

It's an intensifier of course. It's a very interesting game. 

물론 강화 장치입니다. 매우 흥미로운 게임입니다.

It's more powerful thanks to this ‘very’. The second sentence,  

이 '매우' 덕분에 더욱 강력해졌습니다. 두 번째 문장은

‘She cooks fairly good pasta’. Now the adjective in this sentence is ‘good’. 

'파스타를 꽤 잘 하신다' 입니다. 이제 이 문장의 형용사는 '좋다'입니다.

I'm sure you know what about ‘fairly’. Is it an intensifier or a mitigator? 

나는 당신이 '공정하게'에 대해 무엇을 알고 있다고 확신합니다. 강화제인가요 아니면 완화제인가요?

It's a mitigator guys. The adjective ‘good’ is  

완화제입니다 여러분. 형용사 '좋다'는

less powerful because of ‘fairly’. ‘She cooks fairly good pasta’. 

'상당히' 때문에 덜 강력합니다. '그녀는 꽤 좋은 파스타를 요리합니다.'

The third example, ‘He's quite brilliant at speaking English’. 

세 번째 예는 '그 사람은 영어를 정말 잘해요'입니다.

The adjective is ‘brilliant’. Now just a hint. 

형용사는 '훌륭하다'이다. 이제 힌트만 드리겠습니다.

It's an extreme adjective. ‘brilliant’ is a very strong adjective,  

극단적인 형용사입니다. 'brilliant'는 매우 강한 형용사인데,

so what about ‘quite’? Is it an intensifier or a mitigator? 

'quite'는 어떻습니까? 강화제인가요 아니면 완화제인가요?

It is an intensifier of course  because the adjective is extreme. 

물론 형용사가 극단적이기 때문에 강화제입니다.

I hope you got that. 

당신이 그것을 얻었기를 바랍니다.

Next example. ‘She's a bit younger than I am’. 

다음 예. '그녀는 나보다 조금 어리다'.

The adjective is actually a comparative adjective. In this sentence,  

형용사는 실제로 비교 형용사입니다. 이 문장에서

‘younger’ a bit acts as a mitigator of course. And finally, ‘My dog is much fatter than my cat’. 

'어린' 비트는 물론 완화 역할을 합니다. 그리고 마지막으로, '내 개가 내 고양이보다 훨씬 뚱뚱해요'.

Again, it's a comparative adjective ‘fatter’. And what about ‘much’? 

다시 말하지만, 비교급 형용사 'fatter'입니다. 그리고 '많이'는 어떻습니까?

What do you think? Intensifier, mitigator? 

어떻게 생각하나요? 강화제, 완화제?

It's an intensifier. It's much fatter than my cat.

Let's go through the sentences  again and focus on pronunciation.

Third example guys. He's quite brilliant at speaking English.

One more time. He's quite brilliant at speaking English.

Moving on. She's a bit younger than I am.

And finally, my dog is much fatter than my cat.

Welcome to this English course on adverbs. And in this video we're gonna talk about adverbs. 

부사에 관한 영어 강좌에 오신 것을 환영합니다. 이번 영상에서는 부사에 대해 이야기해보겠습니다.

Now the simplest definition of an adverb is that  it's a word that describes or modifies a verb. 

이제 부사의 가장 간단한 정의는 동사를 설명하거나 수정하는 단어라는 것입니다.

Now actually adverbs can modify other  parts of the sentence like other adverbs. 

이제 실제로 부사는 다른 부사와 마찬가지로 문장의 다른 부분을 수정할 수 있습니다.

But in this video, we will focus  on verbs and four kinds of adverbs. 

하지만 이번 영상에서는 동사와 4가지 종류의 부사에 집중해 보겠습니다.

Adverbs of time. Adverbs of place.  Of Manner and Adverbs of Degree. 

시간의 부사. 장소의 부사. 방식과 정도의 부사.

Usually they will answer the  following questions about the verbs: 

일반적으로 그들은 동사에 관한 다음 질문에 답할 것입니다:

When? Where? How? and To what extent? 

언제? 어디? 어떻게? 그리고 어느 정도?

Let's look at these sentences. "The boy ran." 

이 문장들을 살펴보겠습니다. "그 아이는 달렸다."

And then we have, "The boy ran excitedly." 

그리고 "소년은 신나게 달렸습니다."라는 말이 있습니다.

Now this example shows the power of adverbs. 

이제 이 예는 부사의 힘을 보여줍니다.

In the second sentence you  find out how the boy ran. 

두 번째 문장에서는 소년이 어떻게 달렸는지 알 수 있습니다.

In the first sentence you don't have any information on how the boy ran. 

첫 번째 문장에는 소년이 어떻게 달렸는지에 대한 정보가 없습니다.

So in the second sentence, we find  out that the boy was very excited. 

그래서 두 번째 문장에서 우리는 그 소년이 매우 흥분했다는 것을 알게 됩니다.

So it's very important to understand  adverbs and understand how to use them 

따라서 부사를 이해하고 어떻게 사용하는지 이해하는 것이 매우 중요합니다. 부사를 사용하면

because they will make you  speak English a lot better. 

영어를 훨씬 더 잘 말할 수 있기 때문입니다.

So let's get started. 

그럼 시작해 보겠습니다.

First let's talk about the position of an adverb. So where do we put the adverb in the sentence? 

먼저 부사의 위치에 대해 알아보겠습니다. 그럼 문장에서 부사는 어디에 넣어야 할까요? 영어 문장의 부사가

Now that is a bit tricky because the  adverb in an English sentence can be in  

문장의 다른 부분 에 있을 수 있기 때문에 이것이 약간 까다롭습니다

different parts of the sentence. Let's look at a few examples: 

. 몇 가지 예를 살펴보겠습니다.

She climbed the mountain slowly. Slowly she climbed the mountain. 

그녀는 천천히 산을 올랐습니다. 그녀는 천천히 산을 올라갔다.

She slowly climbed the mountain. Can you guess which word is the adverb? 

그녀는 천천히 산을 올라갔다. 어떤 단어가 부사인지 추측할 수 있나요?

The word 'slowly' is the adverb. It describes how she climbed the mountain. 

'천천히'라는 단어는 부사입니다. 그녀가 산에 어떻게 올랐는지 설명되어 있습니다.

And as you can see, the adverb is in  three different parts of the sentence  

그리고 보시다시피, 부사는 문장의 세 가지 다른 부분에 있지만

but the meaning is exactly the same. So let's practice pronunciation. 

의미는 정확히 동일합니다. 그럼 발음을 연습해 볼까요?

Repeat after me please. She climbed the mountain slowly. 

제 말을 따라 반복해주세요. 그녀는 천천히 산을 올라갔다.

Slowly she climbed the mountain. She slowly climbed the mountain. 

그녀는 천천히 산을 올라갔다. 그녀는 천천히 산을 올라갔다.

Great guys. let's move on. Let's now talk about how to make adverbs. 

훌륭한 사람들. 계속하자. 이제 부사를 만드는 방법에 대해 이야기합시다.

Now most adverbs, not all of  them, but most of them end in -ly. 

이제 대부분의 부사는 전부는 아니지만 대부분이 -ly로 끝납니다.

So it's actually very easy. You take the adjective and you  

실제로는 매우 쉽습니다. 형용사를 취하고

add 'ly' at the end. Let's look at a few examples. 

끝에 'ly'를 추가합니다. 몇 가지 예를 살펴보겠습니다.

If you have the adjective 'nice', and you  add 'ly' to it, you make the adverb 'nicely'. 

형용사 'nice'에 'ly'를 추가하면 부사 'nicely'가 됩니다.

So for example you could say, "He is a nice speaker"  

예를 들어

using the adjective 'nice'. But you could also use the  

형용사 'nice'를 사용하여 "그는 좋은 연설가입니다"라고 말할 수 있습니다.

adverb 'nicely' and say, "He speaks nicely." 

하지만 'nicely'라는 부사를 사용하여 "그는 훌륭하게 말합니다."라고 말할

A second example - If we take the  adjective 'quick', and we add 'ly',  

수도 있습니다. 두 번째 예 - 형용사 'quick'에 'ly'를 추가하면

we can make the adverb 'quickly'. So we could say, 

부사 'quickly'를 만들 수 있습니다. 그래서 우리는

"He is a quick runner." But we could also say, 

"그는 빠른 주자입니다."라고 말할 수 있습니다. 하지만 우리는 "그는 빨리 달린다"

"He runs quickly." Okay. Let's practice pronunciation. 

라고 말할 수도 있습니다 . 좋아요. 발음을 연습해 봅시다.

Repeat after me please. "He speaks nicely." 

제 말을 따라 반복해주세요. "그는 말을 잘해요."

"He runs quickly." Good job guys. 

"그는 빨리 달린다." 잘했어 얘들아.

Let's move on. Be careful guys.

Not all adverbs end in 'ly'. Some adjectives don't change  

모든 부사가 'ly'로 끝나는 것은 아닙니다. 일부 형용사는 부사가 되어도 형태가

form when they become adverbs. They're called flat adverbs. 

변하지 않습니다 . 이를 플랫 부사라고 합니다.

Typical flat adverbs would be  'early' or 'late' and a few others. 

전형적인 단순부사는 'early' 또는 'late'와 기타 몇 가지입니다.

And it's very important to  know these flat adverbs. 

그리고 이러한 단조부사를 아는 것이 매우 중요합니다.

Because a lot of my students try  to add 'ly' to some adjectives 

왜냐하면 많은 학생들이 일부 형용사에 'ly'를 추가하려고 시도

and unfortunately they make incorrect sentences. So let's take a look at an example. 

하고 불행히도 잘못된 문장을 만들기 때문입니다. 그럼 예를 살펴보겠습니다.

Okay. If I tell you "The car drove fastly" 

좋아요. 내가 당신에게 "차가 빨리 달렸다"고 말한다면

Do you think that makes sense? Now it does make sense to try to add 'ly' 

그게 말이 된다고 생각하시나요? 이제 'fast'라는 형용사에

to the adjective 'fast', but unfortunately guys  

'ly'를 추가하는 것이 의미가

'fastly' does not exist in English. So the correct sentence is, 

있지만 불행히도 guys 'fastly'는 영어에 존재하지 않습니다. 따라서 올바른 문장은

"The car drove fast." Another example, 

"The car Drive fast"입니다. 또 다른 예는

"He arrived 'late' or 'lately' to class." What do you think's the correct answer? 

"그는 수업에 '늦게' 또는 '늦게' 도착했습니다." 정답이 무엇이라고 생각하시나요?

Again, it makes sense to try to  add 'ly' to the adjective 'late', 

또, 형용사 'late'에 'ly'를 붙이려고 하는 건 말이 되지만,

but 'lately' is not the adverb  of the adjective 'late'. 

'lately'는 형용사 'late'의 부사가 아닙니다.

The adverb is 'late'. So the correct sentence is,  

부사는 '늦다'입니다. 따라서 올바른 문장은

"He arrived late to class." Let's practice pronunciation. 

"그는 수업에 늦게 도착했습니다."입니다. 발음을 연습해 봅시다.

Please repeat after me. "The car drove fast." 

저를 따라 반복해주세요. "차가 빨리 달렸어요."

"He arrived late to class." 

"그는 수업에 늦게 도착했어요."

Great job guys. I hope you now understand flat adverbs better.

take a look at a few sentences to practice  finding and making adverbs that modify verbs. 

동사를 수식하는 부사를 찾고 만드는 연습을 위해 몇 개의 문장을 살펴보겠습니다.

Now remember, adverbs tell  us so much about the verb. 

이제 기억하세요. 부사는 동사에 대해 많은 것을 말해줍니다.

Usually they tell us 'when' or 'where' or 'how' or 'to what degree'. 

보통 그들은 '언제', '어디', '어떻게', '얼마나'를 알려줍니다.

So the first example we have is, "He easily lifted the box." 

그래서 우리가 가지고 있는 첫 번째 예는 "그는 쉽게 상자를 들어 올렸습니다."입니다.

Can you spot the adverb in this sentence? Of course the adverb is 'easily' - ending in 'ly'. 

이 문장에서 부사를 찾을 수 있나요? 물론 부사는 '쉽게'입니다 - 'ly'로 끝납니다.

Okay and it tells us how he lifted the box. It's an adverb of manner. 

좋습니다. 그가 어떻게 상자를 들어 올렸는지 알려줍니다. 매너의 부사입니다.

Now the second sentence, and this is a bit more difficult, 

이제 두 번째 문장은 좀 더 어려운 문장입니다.

"I will download the file tomorrow." Now where is the adverb? 

"내일 파일을 다운로드하겠습니다." 이제 부사는 어디에 있습니까?

Because there is no word ending in 'ly', so it's a bit more complicated. 

'ly'로 끝나는 단어가 없기 때문에 조금 더 복잡합니다.

Well the adverb is 'tomorrow'  and it tells you 'when'. 

음, 부사는 '내일'이고 '언제'를 알려줍니다.

It's an adverb of time. And these are sometimes a bit more difficult. 

시간의 부사입니다. 그리고 이것은 때때로 조금 더 어렵습니다.

Our third example now. "I put it there."

Again no words ending in 'ly'. The adverb is the word 'there'.

And it tells us 'where'. It's an adverb of place. 

그리고 '어디'인지 알려줍니다. 장소의 부사입니다.

And our last example, "You didn't study enough for the test." 

그리고 마지막 예는 "당신은 시험 공부를 충분히 하지 않았습니다."입니다.

The adverb is the word 'enough'. And it's an adverb of degree. 

부사는 '충분하다'라는 단어입니다. 그리고 그것은 학위의 부사입니다.

Okay. It tells us to what degree. 

좋아요. 어느 정도인지 알려줍니다.

Again it's not a word ending in 'ly'. And we will talk about adverbs

of degree in our next videos. For now, let's practice pronunciation a bit.

Please repeat after me. "He easily lifted the box."

Now adverbs of time tell us ‘when’ an action happens, 

이제 시간의 부사는 행동이 '언제' 발생하는지,

and also ‘how long’ and ‘how often’. Now these adverbs are extremely common in 

'얼마나 오랫동안', '얼마나 자주'를 알려줍니다. 이제 이러한 부사는

English, 

so you really need to know about them. So let's start learning together. 

영어

에서 매우 일반적이므로 이에 대해 알아야 합니다. 그럼 함께 학습을 시작해 볼까요?

Let's now take a look at a few example sentences telling us ‘when’ something happened. 

이제 '언제' 어떤 일이 일어났는지 알려주는 몇 가지 예문을 살펴보겠습니다.

‘She ate ice cream yesterday.’ The adverb in this sentence is… have you 

'그녀는 어제 아이스크림을 먹었습니다.' 이 문장의 부사는

noticed? ‘yesterday’ of course. 

… 물론 '어제'.

And it's an adverb of time. When did you eat ice cream? 

그리고 그것은 시간의 부사입니다. 아이스크림은 언제 먹었나요?

‘yesterday’ I see you now. 

'어제' 이제 만나요.

Now where is the adverb in this sentence? Of course the adverb is ‘now’. 

이제 이 문장에서 부사는 어디에 있나요? 물론 부사는 '지금'이다.

Again it's an adverb of time. When do I see you? 

이번에도 시간의 부사입니다. 언제 봐요?

‘now’ ‘I tell him daily.’ 

'이제' '나는 그에게 매일 말해요.'

The adverb is ‘daily’. Again adverb of time. 

부사는 '매일'입니다. 다시 시간의 부사.

‘We met last year.’ Can you see the adverb? 

'우리는 작년에 만났습니다.' 부사를 볼 수 있나요?

Of course the adverb in this case is ‘last year’. 

물론 이 경우의 부사는 '작년'이다.

Again notion of time. When did we meet? 

다시 시간의 개념. 우리 언제 만났어요?

‘last year’ And finally, ‘He will call you later’. 

'작년' 그리고 마지막으로 '그 사람이 나중에 전화할 거야'.

The adverb in this sentence is also an adverb of time. 

이 문장의 부사는 시간의 부사이기도 합니다.

It is ‘later’. So these are all adverbs of time 

'나중에'입니다. 그럼 이것들은 모두 시간의 부사입니다.

And as you can see in those examples, usually adverbs of time are at the end of 

그리고 이 예문에서 볼 수 있듯이, 보통 시간의 부사는 문장 의 끝에 있습니다 .

the sentence. Let's do a bit of pronunciation practice. 

발음 연습을 좀 해보자.

Repeat after me, please. ‘She ate ice cream yesterday.’ 

제 말을 따라 반복해주세요. '그녀는 어제 아이스크림을 먹었습니다.'

‘I see you now.’ 

'이제 만나요.'

‘I tell him daily.’ ‘We met last year.’ 

'나는 그에게 매일 말한다.' '우리는 작년에 만났습니다.'

‘He will call you later.’ 

'그가 나중에 전화할 거예요.'

Let's now move on to example sentences showing us how long something happened. 

이제 어떤 일이 얼마나 오랫동안 일어났는지 보여주는 예문으로 넘어가겠습니다.

These adverbs are also usually placed at the end of the sentence. 

이 부사는 일반적으로 문장 끝에 배치됩니다.

But let's have a look. ‘She stayed home all day.’ 

하지만 한번 살펴보자. '그녀는 하루 종일 집에 있었어요.'

Which part of this sentence is an adverb? Can you see it? 

이 문장의 어느 부분이 부사인가요? 볼 수 있나요?

Of course, ‘all day’. And it tells us how long she stayed home. 

물론 '하루 종일'이다. 그리고 그녀가 집에 얼마나 오래 머물렀는지 알려줍니다.

‘I studied in Canada for a year now.’ In this sentence, ‘for a year’ tells us 

'저는 캐나다에서 1년 동안 공부했습니다.' 이 문장에서 'for a year'는 제가

how long I studied in Canada. ‘He has taught English since 1990.’ 

캐나다에서 얼마나 오랫동안 공부했는지를 말해줍니다. '그는 1990년부터 영어를 가르쳐 왔습니다.'

How long has he taught English? Since 1990. 

그는 얼마나 오랫동안 영어를 가르쳤나요? 1990년부터.

‘I studied English for four hours.’ Which pond is the adverb? 

'4시간 동안 영어를 공부했어요.' 어떤 연못이 부사인가요?

‘For four hours’ ‘How long did I study English?’ 

'4시간 동안' '나는 영어를 얼마나 공부했지?'

Adverbs telling us how often express the frequency of an action.

They're usually placed before the main verb, but after the auxiliary verb,

If you want to use more than one adverb of time in a sentence,

In this video, I'm gonna talk to you about adverbs of degree.

Adverbs of degree tell us about the intensity of something. 

정도 부사는 어떤 것의 강도를 알려줍니다.

The power of something. Now in English, they're usually placed before  

무언가의 힘. 이제 영어에서는 일반적 으로 수식하는 형용사, 부사 또는 동사

the adjective or adverb or verb that they modify. But obviously, as always, there are exceptions. 

앞에 배치됩니다 . 그러나 언제나 그렇듯이 예외도 분명히 있습니다.

And there are very common adverbs of  degree that I'm sure you use all the time.

Uhm... ‘too’, ‘enough’, ‘very’, ‘extremely’, But there are so many others.

about adverbs of degree. Let's have a look at a few

examples of adverbs of degree. Especially how they are used  

. 특히 형용사, 부사, 동사와 함께

with adjectives, adverbs and verbs. Now adverbs of degree are usually placed before

the adjectives and adverbs that they modify. And before the main verb of the sentence.

For example, in the sentence, ‘The water was extremely cold.’

You have the adjective ‘cold’ and the adverb  ‘extremely’ that modifies the adjective cold.

And as you can, see the adverb is placed before the adjective that it modifies.

Second example, ‘He just left.’ In this case, the adverb ‘just’  

두 번째 예, '그는 방금 떠났습니다.' 이 경우에는

comes before the verb ‘left’, which is the main verb of the sentence. 

문장의 본동사인 동사 'left' 앞에 부사 'just'가 옵니다.

‘She is running very fast.’ Now in this case, we have two adverbs. 

'그녀는 매우 빠르게 달리고 있다.' 이제 이 경우에는 두 개의 부사가 있습니다.

The adverb ‘fast’ and the adverb ‘very’ that modifies the adverb ‘fast’. 

부사 '빠르다'와 부사 '빠르다'를 수식하는 부사 '매우'.

And as you can see, our adverb ‘very’ is placed before the adverb that it modifies.

And finally, ‘They are completely  exhausted from the trip.’

The adverb completely modifies  the adjective ‘exhausted’

Some very common adverbs of degree in  English are ‘enough’, ‘very’ and ‘too’. 

영어에서 매우 흔한 학위 부사로는 'enough', 'very', 'too' 등이 있습니다.

Let's look at a few examples. ‘Is your coffee hot enough?’ 

몇 가지 예를 살펴보겠습니다. '커피가 충분히 뜨겁나요?'

So in this case, our adverb ‘enough’  modifies the adjective, ‘hot’. 

따라서 이 경우에는 부사 'enough'가 형용사 'hot'을 수식합니다.

‘He didn't work hard enough.’ In that case, our adverb ‘enough’ modifies 

'그는 충분히 열심히 일하지 않았다.' 이 경우, 우리의 부사 'enough'는

another adverb, the adverb ‘hard’. And as you can see, the adverb ‘enough’

is usually placed after the  adjective or adverb that it modifies.

Another example is ‘very’. ‘The girl was very beautiful.’

So the adverb ‘very’ modifies  our adjective ‘beautiful’. 

따라서 부사 'very'는 형용사 'beautiful'을 수식합니다.

‘He worked very quickly,’ So in this case, our adverb ‘very’ modifies 

'그는 매우 빠르게 일했습니다.' 따라서 이 경우에는 부사 'very'가

the adverb ‘quickly’. And as you can see, ‘very’ is usually 

'quickly'라는 부사를 수식합니다. 그리고 보시다시피 '매우'는 일반적으로

placed before the word that it modifies. And finally, our third example is ‘too’.

‘This coffee is too hot.’ It modifies the adjective ‘hot’.

‘hard’. And as you can see, ‘too’, is usually placed

Let's do a little bit of extra practice with a few example sentences.

‘He speaks very quickly.’ Can you spot the adverb of degree?

It's ‘very’. And it modifies the

It's the adverb, ‘terribly’. That modifies the adjective, ‘angry’.

Can you spot the adverb? It's ‘almost’.

And it modifies the verb, ‘finished’. Okay?

So we're not finished yet. We're ‘almost’ finished.

And finally, ‘This box isn't big enough.’ The adverb of degree in this case is the adverb

‘enough’ and it modifies our adjective ‘big’.

In today's video, I'm going to talk to you about adverbs of manner.

Adverbs of manner tell you how something happens. And they're usually placed after the main 

매너의 부사는 어떤 일이 어떻게 일어나는지 알려줍니다. 그리고 보통 주동사 뒤나 목적어 뒤에 위치합니다

verb or after its object. Let's take a look at a few sentences. 

. 몇 가지 문장을 살펴보겠습니다.

‘He swims well.’ The adverb ‘well’ tells you how he swims 

'그는 수영을 잘해요.' 부사 'well'은 그가 어떻게 수영하는지 알려주며

and is placed after the main verb ‘swims’. ‘He plays the piano beautifully.’ 

주동사 'swims' 뒤에 위치합니다. '그는 피아노를 아름답게 연주합니다.'

The adverb ‘beautifully’ tells you how he plays the piano 

'아름답게'라는 부사는 그가 피아노를 어떻게 연주하는지를 말하며,

and is placed after the piano which is the object of the verb to play. 

동사의 목적어인 피아노 뒤에 위치하여 연주합니다.

Hope you get it. Let's get into more detail now.

Adverbs of manner are usually placed after the main verb or after the objects.

For example, ‘He left the room quickly.’ The adverb ‘quickly’ is placed after the

object, ‘the room’. Now just so you know,

some adverbs not all of them, but some adverbs,

can also be placed before the verb. So in this case, you can also say,

What's very important for you to know is that an adverb of manner cannot come between a

verb and its direct object. Okay, so it must be placed

either before the main verb,

‘his dinner’ is the direct object of the verb. So the adverb ‘quickly’ cannot be placed

So you should say, ‘He ate his dinner quickly.’ The adverb is at the end and that's correct.

Or ‘He quickly ate his dinner.’ That's also correct. 

또는 '그는 저녁을 빨리 먹었습니다.' 그것도 맞습니다.

The adverb is placed before the main verb. Another example, 

부사는 주동사 앞에 위치합니다. 또 다른 예는

‘He gave me gently a hug.’ Now this is incorrect. 

'그는 나를 부드럽게 안아주었다.' 이제 이것은 잘못된 것입니다.

You cannot separate the verb ‘give’ from its direct object ‘a hug’. 

동사 'give'와 직접 목적어 'ahug'를 분리할 수 없습니다.

So two correct sentences would be first, ‘He gave me a hug gently.’

with the adverb at the end of the sentence. Or
