In everyday speech, there will be moments when you need information.

The action of asking something is common

무언가를 묻는 행위는

when a person needs or requires information fast.

사람이 정보를 빠르게 필요로 하거나 요구할 때 흔히 발생합니다.

A direct question can be a request or an inquiry.

직접적인 질문은 요청이나 문의일 수 있습니다.

A request is often made in the form of a question.

요청은 질문 형식으로 이루어지는 경우가 많습니다.

“May I open a window?”

“창문 좀 열어도 될까요?”

“Can I borrow your pen?”

“펜을 빌릴 수 있을까요?”

“Is it possible to see you tomorrow?”

“내일 만날 수 있나요?”

All those questions are requests.

그 모든 질문은 요청입니다.

One person is asking another for a direct answer

한 사람이 다른 사람에게 요청에

A question can be in the form

A direct form of question is described as interrogative.

직접적인 형태의 질문은 의문문으로 설명됩니다.

For example; asking for a reason why a person did something.

예를 들어; 사람이 어떤 일을 한 이유를 묻는 것.

When asking someone where they were at a certain time is interrogative.

누군가에게 특정 시간에 어디에 있었는지 묻는 것은 의문입니다.

“Where were you last night?”

“어젯밤에 어디 계셨나요?”

“What have you done with my money?”

“내 돈으로 무슨 짓을 한 거야?”

“Where did you hide the treasure?”

“보물을 어디에 숨겼나요?”

To demand an answer is to ask an interrogative question.

대답을 요구하는 것은 의문적인 질문을 하는 것입니다.

Any sentence Using ‘What’,

'무엇',

‘Why’, ‘How’, ‘Who’, ‘When’...

'왜', '어떻게', '누가', '언제'...

‘Where’, can be described as interrogative.

'어디'를 사용하는 모든 문장은 의문문으로 설명할 수 있습니다.

This is very different from a request,

이는 의문의 여지가 없는

which is seen as non interrogative.

요청과 매우 다릅니다 .

You might say that a request is a polite way of demanding something.

요청은 무언가를 요구하는 정중한 방법이라고 말할 수 있습니다.

‘May I?’

'나는 할 수있다?'

‘Could you?’ ‘Will you?’

'그럴 수 있나요?' '그럴까요?'

‘Can I?’

'내가 할 수 있을까?'

‘Is it okay if...?’

'괜찮다면...?'

But sometimes the answer does not come straight away.

The words reply and answer can

응답(reply)과 응답(답변)이라는 단어는

be used as given or received.

The person asking will wait for a reply.

There might be a time

대답이나 회신이 필요 없이 질문이 제기되는

when a question is put forward without needing a response or reply.

This is a rhetorical question.

이것은 수사적인 질문입니다.

Something said in the form of a question,

질문의 형태로 말했지만

but not requiring an answer is rhetorical.

대답을 요구하지 않는 것은 수사적입니다.

“Could this day get any worse?”

“오늘은 좀 더 나빠질 수 있을까요?”

“Why do bad things always happen to me?”

“왜 나한테는 항상 나쁜 일만 일어나는 걸까요?”

“Where did my life go wrong?”

“Was my performance really that bad?”

“내 성적이 정말 그렇게 나빴나요?”

“Where do I go from here?”

“여기서 어디로 가야 합니까?”

The rhetorical statement is normally used

when a moment of annoyance or frustration takes place.

You ask a question, sometimes to yourself.

There is no need for an answer.

It is a rhetorical question.

Before asking a question,

you might say, ‘Can I ask you something?’

One problem with asking a question is waiting for the reply.

You might not get the response that you wanted.
