There is an ancient proverb that goes.

एक प्राचीन कहावत है कि.

‘The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step’.

'हजारों मील की यात्रा एक कदम से शुरू होती है'।

This phrase encourages us to recognise the difficulties involved with doing something,

यह वाक्यांश हमें कुछ करने में आने वाली कठिनाइयों को पहचानने के लिए प्रोत्साहित करता है,

especially if that thing is going to take a long time to achieve.

खासकर अगर उस चीज़ को हासिल करने में लंबा समय लगने वाला हो।

The journey in question can be anything.

प्रश्न में यात्रा कुछ भी हो सकती है।

It doesn't have to be an actual journey where you travel to another place.

यह आवश्यक नहीं है कि यह एक वास्तविक यात्रा हो जहां आप किसी अन्य स्थान की यात्रा करते हैं।

In a figurative sense, we can describe the journey as something you wish to pursue.

लाक्षणिक अर्थ में, हम उस यात्रा का वर्णन उस चीज़ के रूप में कर सकते हैं जिसे आप आगे बढ़ाना चाहते हैं।

To pursue something is to follow a certain path or road, a goal that you wish to reach,

किसी चीज़ को आगे बढ़ाने का अर्थ है एक निश्चित पथ या सड़क का अनुसरण करना, एक लक्ष्य जिस तक आप पहुंचना चाहते हैं,

something you are determined to succeed at or achieve.

कुछ ऐसा जिसे आप सफल होने या प्राप्त करने के लिए दृढ़ हैं।

Perhaps you are learning how to do a certain thing.

शायद आप सीख रहे हैं कि कोई खास काम कैसे करना है।

Maybe you wish to learn how to play a certain type of musical instrument.

शायद आप एक खास प्रकार का संगीत वाद्ययंत्र बजाना सीखना चाहते हों।

Maybe there is a subject you wish to be more familiar with.

हो सकता है कि कोई ऐसा विषय हो जिससे आप अधिक परिचित होना चाहते हों।

To be familiar with something means to know it well.

किसी चीज़ से परिचित होने का मतलब उसे अच्छी तरह से जानना है।

No matter what it is you are trying to learn,

इससे कोई फर्क नहीं पड़ता कि आप क्या सीखने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं,

for most of the time there are very similar rules that must be applied and followed.

अधिकांश समय बहुत समान नियम होते हैं जिन्हें लागू किया जाना चाहिए और उनका पालन किया जाना चाहिए।

You might have to ask yourself certain questions such as...

आपको स्वयं से कुछ प्रश्न पूछने पड़ सकते हैं जैसे...

‘What do I wish to do?’

'मैं क्या करना चाहता हूँ?'

‘What is it I want to achieve?’

'मैं क्या हासिल करना चाहता हूं?'

‘What do I want to get from this particular thing?’

'मैं इस विशेष चीज़ से क्या प्राप्त करना चाहता हूँ?'

There is normally some type of goal involved in anything you are keen to learn.

आप जिस भी चीज़ को सीखने के इच्छुक होते हैं उसमें आम तौर पर किसी न किसी प्रकार का लक्ष्य शामिल होता है।

It is always good to focus on the final outcome of what it is you wish to achieve.

आप जो हासिल करना चाहते हैं उसके अंतिम परिणाम पर ध्यान केंद्रित करना हमेशा अच्छा होता है।

The end result is often referred to as ‘the goal’ or ‘the outcome’.

अंतिम परिणाम को अक्सर 'लक्ष्य' या 'परिणाम' कहा जाता है।

As I mentioned at the start of this lesson, all these learning journeys begin with the first step.

For many people, this is the hardest part of doing something.

Something that is daunting relates to a thing that creates fear or anxiety.

That first step forward can be the hardest thing to do.

However, after a while you will realise that there was nothing to worry about.

As you continue with your journey of discovery, you will realise that there was nothing to be afraid of.

You might say that learning English is very similar to taking a long journey, in that it may seem daunting at first,

but generally over time you will realise that as you continue your studies, there will always be something interesting to discover on the way.

From my own experience of learning new things, I have found that the hardest point of doing anything is normally at the start.

Sometimes I find it hard to motivate myself to try something new.

Motivation is what pushes you forward, and it is the thing that helps you continue as you go along.

Whilst learning English, try to find things that interest you to learn English with.

Perhaps there is a subject you are interested in or something you are keen to learn more about.

It is possible to learn English whilst studying something you have a strong interest in.

Read some books in English about your favourite subject, whatever that subject happens to be.

अपने पसंदीदा विषय के बारे में अंग्रेजी में कुछ किताबें पढ़ें, चाहे वह विषय कुछ भी हो।

You can learn words connected to a subject you are interested in,

आप जिस विषय में रुचि रखते हैं, उससे जुड़े शब्द सीख सकते हैं,

whether it is connected to nature, history, science or your own favourite hobby.

चाहे वह प्रकृति, इतिहास, विज्ञान या आपके अपने पसंदीदा शौक से जुड़ा हो।

As I always say, when you are learning anything new, you must give yourself time to concentrate and absorb the subject being studied.

Be prepared to make mistakes, as this is quite often one of the best ways to learn anything.

Once you realise that there is nothing stopping you from learning new things, all that exists out there will open up in front of you.

एक बार जब आपको यह एहसास हो जाए कि आपको नई चीजें सीखने से कोई नहीं रोक रहा है, तो जो कुछ भी मौजूद है वह आपके सामने खुल जाएगा।

Don't delay. Don't hesitate.

Just go for it.
