Wikipedia sometimes feels infinite.

People take the task of writing an encyclopedia very seriously.

လူတွေက စွယ်စုံကျမ်းတစ်စောင်ကို ရေးတဲ့ အလုပ်ကို အလွန်အလေးအနက်ထားကြတယ်။

I said that I get really into trivia.

ကျွန်မဟာ အသေးအဖွဲလေးထဲ ရောက်သွားတယ်လို့ ပြောခဲ့တယ်။

Some of these people will spend a long time doing very trivial things.

ဒီလူတွေထဲက တချို့က သိပ်သေးဖွဲတဲ့အရာတွေကို လုပ်ရင်း အချိန်အတော်ကြာ ကုန်ဆုံးကြမှာပါ။

There was a long debate on whether the caption "Guy Standing sitting"

was too funny for an encyclopedia.

Wikipedia is not perfect,

but clearly it's an information source that people desire.

Or when the Queen died, I wrote about the Wikipedia editor

that was so quick to change her article into past tense.

I kept posting online and I was getting a following

and I started leading edit-a-thons to get more people to contribute.

Then I started doing comedy shows

I'm still really drawn to useless knowledge.

I don't think I would call anything useless knowledge,

because the thing about trivia

is that it's an invitation to learn more about a subject.

You might learn a trivia fact and suddenly you're far more interested

and you're learning about things

Ken Jennings once said trivia was the bait on the fishhook of education.

I previously had little interest in the romantic period of piano music,

they look like something that a six-year-old would draw today.

It reminded me that for all of history, people have always been people.

သမိုင်းတစ်လျှောက်လုံးမှာ လူတွေဟာ အမြဲတမ်း လူတွေဖြစ်ဆိုတာကို ဒါက သတိရစေတယ်။

Sometimes with trivia, you start somewhere random

and then you start thinking about empathy

ကျပန်း စတင်ပြီး စာနာမှုနဲ့

and geopolitics and who knows, science, what have you.

ဘူမိနိုင်ငံရေးအကြောင်း စတွေးတယ်၊ သင့်မှာ ရှိတဲ့ သိပ္ပံပညာကို ဘယ်သူသိမှာလဲ။

Facts are really powerful, even fun facts.

အချက်အလက်တွေက အားကောင်ပြီး ပျော်စရာအချက်အလက်တွေတောင်ပါ။

And luckily, we live at a time

ကံကောင်းတာက သတင်းအချက်အလက်တွေဆီ

where information has never been easier to access.

ဝင်ရောက်ဖို့ ဘယ်တော့မှ ပိုမလွယ်ဖူးတဲ့ အချိန်တစ်ခုမှာ ကျွန်မတို့ နေထိုင်နေတာပါ။

Whether you're looking for fictional worms

စိတ်ကူးယဉ် တီကောင်တွေ၊ရေ မလွှမ်းတာတွေ

or non-water floods

ဒါမှမဟုတ် လေထု ကာဗွန် ဒေတာတွေလို

or more serious things like atmospheric carbon data.

ပိုအရေးကြီးတဲ့တွေကို ရှာဖွေနေတာပဲဖြစ်ဖြစ်ပါ။

If nothing else,

တခြား ဘာမှမရှိဘူးဆိုရင်၊

trivia reminds you that the world is huge

ကမ္ဘာကြီးဟာ ကြီးမားပြီး အံ့ဩစရာကောင်းတယ်၊

and it's amazing

တကယ့် စိတ်ဝင်စားစရာလို့

and it's really interesting

အသေးအဖွဲက သတိပေးတာပါ၊

and I don't think that's trivial at all.
