It’s a very important tense for learning English.

အင်္ဂလိပ်စာလေ့လာရန် အလွန်အရေးကြီးသော အချိန်တစ်ခုဖြစ်သည်။

In this video, I will introduce the present simple, the present continuous, the present

perfect, and the present perfect continuous tense.

I'm so excited to teach you the present simple tense in today's video.

ဒီနေ့ ဗီဒီယိုမှာ ပစ္စုပ္ပန် ရိုးရှင်းတဲ့ အချိန်ကို သင်ပေးရတာ အရမ်းစိတ်လှုပ်ရှားမိပါတယ်။

Now this lesson can be a little difficult,

အခု ဒီသင်ခန်းစာက နည်းနည်းတော့ ခက်ခဲနိုင်တာ

so I'll do my best to keep it easy and fun for you.

My goal is for you to understand how and when to use this grammar by the end of the video.

Let's start with the first usage for the present simple tense.

ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ရိုးရှင်းသောအချိန်အတွက် ပထမဆုံးအသုံးပြုမှုဖြင့်စကြပါစို့။

The first usage is pretty easy.

ပထမဆုံးအသုံးပြုပုံက တော်တော်လွယ်ပါတယ်။

We use it to talk about facts, truths, and generalizations.

အဖြစ်မှန်များ၊ အမှန်တရားများနှင့် ယေဘုယျဖော်ပြချက်များအကြောင်း ပြောဆိုရန် ၎င်းကို ကျွန်ုပ်တို့ အသုံးပြုပါသည်။

Let's look at some examples.

ဥပမာအချို့ကို ကြည့်ကြပါစို့။

‘The Sun is bright.’

'နေက တောက်ပတယ်။'

Now that's a fact.

အခုက အမှန်ပဲ။

It doesn't change.

မပြောင်းလဲပါဘူး။

Everybody knows that the Sun is bright.

နေက တောက်ပနေတယ်ဆိုတာ လူတိုင်းသိတယ်။

It was bright yesterday.

မနေ့က တောက်ပနေခဲ့တယ်။

It's bright today.

ဒီနေ့ တောက်ပနေတယ်။

And it will be bright tomorrow.

မနက်ဖြန်လည်း တောက်ပနေလိမ့်မယ်။

That makes it a fact.

အဲဒါက အမှန်ပါပဲ။

‘Pigs don't fly.’

'ဝက်တွေ မပျံဘူး။'

That's also a fact.

ဒါလည်း အမှန်ပဲ။

Everybody knows that pigs don't fly.

ဝက်မပျံသန်းဘူးဆိုတာ လူတိုင်းသိပါတယ်။

‘Cats are better than dogs.’

'ကြောင်တွေက ခွေးတွေထက် ပိုကောင်းတယ်'

Now this you may not agree with.

ယခု ဤအရာကို သင်သဘောမတူနိုင်ပါ။

This is my truth.

ဒါ ငါ့အမှန်တရားပဲ။

I'm making a generalization about cats and dogs in this example.

ဤဥပမာတွင် ကြောင်များနှင့် ခွေးများအကြောင်း ယေဘုယျဖော်ပြချက်တစ်ခု ပြုလုပ်နေပါသည်။

And finally, ‘It's cold in winter.’

This really depends on where you live, but for a lot of people, or let's say for

most people, it is cold in the winter,

so that's the truth for some people.

ဒါကြောင့် တချို့လူတွေအတွက် အမှန်တရားပါပဲ။

Now let's look back and see what verb I used in the present simple tense.

အခု ပြန်ကြည့် ပြီး ပစ္စုပ္ပန် ရိုးရှင်းတဲ့ အချိန် မှာ ဘယ်ကြိယာ ကို သုံး လဲ ကြည့် ရအောင် ။

For the first sentence, we have ‘is’.

ပထမစာကြောင်းအတွက် 'is' ရှိသည်။

I use the ‘be’ verb ‘is’ to talk about the Sun.

နေမင်းအကြောင်းပြောဖို့ 'be' verb 'is' ကိုသုံးပါတယ်။

In the next sentence, I use the negative of do - ‘do not’

နောက်ဝါကျမှာ၊ do - 'do not' ဆိုတဲ့ အနုတ်လက္ခဏာကို သုံး

And you'll notice I use the contraction and put these two words together to make it ‘don't’.

ပြီးတော့ ကျုံ့ပြီး ဒီစကားလုံးနှစ်လုံးကို 'မလုပ်ဘူး' ဖြစ်အောင် တွဲသုံးတာ သတိထားမိမှာပါ။

‘Cats are better than dogs.’

'ကြောင်တွေက ခွေးတွေထက် ပိုကောင်းတယ်'

I use the ‘be’ verb "are" to talk about cats because ‘cats’ is plural.

ကြောင်တွေအကြောင်းပြောဖို့ 'be' ကြိယာ "are" ကိုသုံးပါတယ် 'cats' က အများကိန်းပါ။

And finally, it's cold and winter.

နောက်ဆုံးအနေနဲ့ကတော့ အေးပြီး ဆောင်းရာသီပေါ့။

Here I use the ‘be’ verb "is" again,

ဤနေရာတွင် ကျွန်ုပ်သည် 'be' ကြိယာ "is" ကို ထပ်မံအသုံးပြုသော်လည်း

but I use the contraction to combine ‘it’ and ‘is’

'it' နှင့် 'is' တို့ကို ပေါင်းစပ်ရန် ကျုံ့ခြင်းကို အသုံးပြုပြီး

and made ‘it’s’.

'it's' ဖြစ်သည်။

Let's move on to the next usage.

နောက်အသုံးပြုမှုသို့ ဆက်သွားကြပါစို့။

We also use the present simple tense to talk about habits and routines.

အလေ့အထများနှင့် လုပ်ရိုးလုပ်စဉ်များအကြောင်း ဆွေးနွေးရန် ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ရိုးရိုးတင်းမာမှုကိုလည်း အသုံးပြုပါသည်။

So things and actions that happen regularly.

ဒါကြောင့် ပုံမှန်ဖြစ်ပျက်နေတဲ့ အရာတွေ၊

Let’s look at the examples.

ဥပမာတွေကို ကြည့်ရအောင်။

‘I always eat lunch at noon.’

'နေ့လည်စာ အမြဲစားတယ်။'

You'll notice I use the adverb ‘always’ because I'm talking about something that I

ငါ

do regularly.

ပုံမှန်လုပ်တဲ့အရာတစ်ခုအကြောင်းပြောနေတာကြောင့် ကြိယာဝိသေသန 'အမြဲတမ်း' ကိုသုံးတာ မင်းသတိထားမိလိမ့်မယ်။

What is that?

အဲဒါဘာလဲ?

‘Eat lunch at noon.’

'နေ့လည်စာစား။'

So I use the present simple tense.

ဒါကြောင့် ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ရိုးရိုးတင်းတာကို သုံးပါတယ်။

And here I use the verb ‘eat’.

ဒီနေရာမှာ ငါ 'စား' ဆိုတဲ့ ကြိယာကို သုံးပါတယ်။

‘I eat…’

'ငါစားတယ်...'

The second example says you play games every day.

ဒုတိယဥပမာက မင်း နေ့တိုင်း ဂိမ်းဆော့တယ်ဆိုတယ်။

Do you see the clue that helps you know that this is something that happens regularly?

ဤအရာသည် ပုံမှန်ဖြစ်ပျက်နေသည့်အရာဖြစ်သည်ကို သင်သိရန် ကူညီပေးသည့် သဲလွန်စကို သင်မြင်ပါသလား။

It's ‘every day’.

'နေ့တိုင်း' ပါ။

So it's something that happens as a routine or a habit,

ဒါကြောင့် ဒါဟာ လုပ်ရိုးလုပ်စဉ် ဒါမှမဟုတ် အလေ့အထတစ်ခုအနေနဲ့ ဖြစ်ပျက်နေတာ

so you play games.

ကြောင့် ဂိမ်းတွေဆော့ပါ။

The verb here is ‘play’.

ဤနေရာ၌ ကြိယာသည် 'ကစားခြင်း' ဖြစ်သည်။

‘You play…’

'မင်းကစားတယ်...'

The next example says ‘Seth starts work at 9:00 a.m. daily.’

နောက်ဥပမာတစ်ခုက 'Seth က နေ့စဉ် မနက် 9:00 မှာ အလုပ်စတယ်။

Again this is something that happens regularly.

တစ်ဖန် ဤသည်မှာ ပုံမှန်ဖြစ်ပျက်နေသောအရာဖြစ်သည်။

‘Seth goes to work at 9:00 a.m.’ every day.

'Seth က နေ့တိုင်း မနက် 9:00 မှာ အလုပ်လုပ်တယ်။

Now you'll notice I put a blue line under the ‘s’ in ‘starts’.

အခုဆို starts မှာ 's' ဆိုတဲ့ အပြာရောင်စာကြောင်းလေး ရေးထားတာကို သတိထားမိမှာပါ။

Can you figure out why?

ဘာကြောင့်လဲဆိုတာ သိနိုင်ပါသလား။

Well remember that when the subject of a sentence is ‘he’, ‘she’, or ‘it’,

ဝါကျတစ်ခု၏အကြောင်းအရာသည် 'he', 'she', သို့မဟုတ် 'it' ဖြစ်သောအခါ

we need to add an ‘s’ or ‘es’ to the end of the verb in the present simple tense.

ကြိယာ၏အဆုံးတွင် 's' သို့မဟုတ် 'es' ထည့်ရန် လိုအပ်သည်ကို သတိရပါ။

Seth is a ‘he’, so we need to add an ‘s’.

Seth သည် 'he' ဖြစ်သောကြောင့် 's' ကို ထည့်ရန် လိုအပ်သည်။

‘Seth starts work at 9:00 a.m. daily.’

'Seth သည် နေ့စဉ် နံနက် ၉ နာရီတွင် အလုပ်စတင်သည်။'

And the last example: ‘They study English every Monday.’

နောက်ဆုံး ဥပမာ- 'သူတို့က တနင်္လာနေ့တိုင်း အင်္ဂလိပ်စာ လေ့လာတယ်။'

Again, ‘every Monday’ means that they do it regularly,

တဖန် 'တနင်္လာနေ့တိုင်း' ဆိုသည်မှာ ၎င်းတို့ကို ပုံမှန်ပြုလုပ်ခြင်းဖြစ်ပြီး၊

and that's why we use the present simple tense.

ထို့ကြောင့် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ရိုးရှင်းသောအချိန်ကို အသုံးပြုပါသည်။

‘They study…’.

'စာကျက်ကြတယ်...'

So as a review, remember we use the present simple tense

ထို့ကြောင့် သုံးသပ်ချက်တစ်ခုအနေဖြင့် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည်

to talk about habits and routines that happen regularly.

ပုံမှန်ဖြစ်ပျက်နေသည့် အလေ့အထများနှင့် လုပ်ရိုးလုပ်စဉ်များအကြောင်း ပြောဆိုရန် ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ရိုးရှင်းသောအချိန်ကို အသုံးပြုကြောင်း သတိရပါ

Let's move on.

။ ဆက်ကြရအောင်။

We also use the present simple tense with non-continuous verbs.

အဆက်မပြတ်ကြိယာများဖြင့် ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ရိုးရိုးတင်းမာမှုကိုလည်း အသုံးပြုပါသည်။

These are verbs that we don't use in the continuous form,

၎င်းတို့သည် ယခုဖြစ်ပျက်နေသည့်တိုင်

even if they're happening right now.

ဆက်တိုက်ပုံစံဖြင့် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့အသုံးမပြုသောကြိယာများဖြစ်သည်

They're also called stative verbs.

။ သူတို့ကို stative verbs လို့လည်း ခေါ်တယ်။

These are connected with thoughts, opinions, feelings, emotions, and our five senses.

ဒါတွေက အတွေးတွေ၊ အမြင်တွေ၊ ခံစားချက်တွေ၊ စိတ်ခံစားမှုတွေ၊ အာရုံငါးပါးနဲ့ ဆက်စပ်နေတယ်။

Let's look at these examples.

ဒီဥပမာတွေကို ကြည့်ရအောင်။

‘I love my mom.’

'ကျွန်မ အမေ့ကို ချစ်တယ်။'

The verb here is ‘love’.

ဒီနေရာမှာ ကြိယာက 'ချစ်တယ်' တဲ့။

That's an emotion, so I use the present simple tense.

အဲဒါက စိတ်ခံစားမှုတစ်ခုမို့ ကျွန်တော်ကတော့ present simple tense ကို သုံးပါတယ်။

‘It smells good.’

'အနံ့ ကောင်းတယ်'

‘Smell’ is one of the five senses, so I use the present simple tense.

'အနံ့' သည် အာရုံငါးပါးထဲမှ တစ်ခုဖြစ်သောကြောင့် ပစ္စုပ္ပန် ရိုးရှင်းသော အချိန်ကို သုံးပါသည်။

You'll notice I underlined the ‘s’ because remember the subject is ‘it’.

အကြောင်းအရာက 'it' လို့ မှတ်ထားလို့ 's' ကို မျဉ်းသားထားတာ သတိထားမိမှာပါ။

‘Kelly feels happy.’

'Kelly က ပျော်တယ်။'

This is talking about a feeling.

ဒါက ခံစားချက်တစ်ခုအကြောင်း ပြောနေတာ။

Again the subject here is ‘Kelly’ which is a ‘she’,

နောက်တဖန် ဤနေရာတွင် ဘာသာရပ်သည် 'သူမ' ဖြစ်သည့် 'ကယ်လီ' ဖြစ်သည်၊

so I added an ‘s’ to the verb.

ထို့ကြောင့် ကျွန်ုပ်သည် ကြိယာသို့ 's' ထည့်လိုက်ပါသည်။

And finally, ‘They need help.’

နောက်ဆုံးအနေနဲ့ 'သူတို့အကူအညီလိုတယ်။'

We don't say, ‘they are needing help’ even though it's happening right now.

'သူတို့ အကူအညီလိုနေတယ်' လို့ လောလောဆယ် မပြောတတ်ပါဘူး။

‘Need’ is non-continuous, so we say, ‘they need help’,

'လိုအပ်သည်' သည် စဉ်ဆက်မပြတ်ဖြစ်နေသောကြောင့် 'သူတို့အကူအညီလိုသည်' ဟုဆိုသည်၊ ထို့ကြောင့်

so remember you also use the present simple tense with non-continuous verbs,

အတွေးများ၊ အမြင်များ၊ ခံစားချက်များ၊ စိတ်ခံစားမှုများနှင့် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့၏ အာရုံငါးပါးတို့နှင့် ဆက်စပ်နေသော

connected with thoughts, opinions, feelings, emotions, and our five senses.

ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ရိုးရှင်းသော တင်းမာမှုကိုလည်း မှတ်သားထားပါ ။ ဆက်ကြရအောင်။ စပီကာများသည်

Let's move on.

မဝေးတော့သောအနာဂတ်တွင်

Speakers occasionally use the present simple tense to talk about something that will happen

ဖြစ်ပေါ်လာမည့်အရာများကို ပြောဆိုရန် ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ရိုးရိုးတင်းမာမှုကို အခါအားလျော်စွာ အသုံးပြုကြသည်

in the near future.

Now this can be a little confusing, but we're not using the future tense,

ယခုတော့ အနည်းငယ် ရှုပ်ထွေးနိုင်သော်လည်း အနာဂတ်ကာလကို ကျွန်ုပ်တို့ မသုံးတော့ပါ၊

we're using the present simple tense.

ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် ပစ္စုပ္ပန် ရိုးရှင်းသော အချိန်ကို အသုံးပြုနေပါသည်။

It's possible to do that and it's actually common for people to do that.

အဲဒါကို လုပ်နိုင်တယ်၊ အဲဒါက လူတွေအတွက် တကယ်ဖြစ်ရိုးဖြစ်စဉ်ပါပဲ။

Again, for something that will happen in the near future.

နောက်တဖန် မဝေးတော့သော အနာဂတ်တွင် ဖြစ်ပေါ်လာမည့် တစ်စုံတစ်ခုအတွက်။

Let's look at the examples.

ဥပမာတွေကို ကြည့်ရအောင်။

‘I have class at 6 p.m.’

'ငါ အတန်းချိန် 6 နာရီ '

‘6 p.m.’ that's pretty soon, so I can say,

' 6 နာရီ ' ဆိုတော့ 'ငါ အတန်းရှိပြီ'

'I have class.'

လို့ ပြောနိုင်ပါတယ် ။

- the present simple tense.

- ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ရိုးရှင်းသောအချိန်။

‘Lisa arrives on Sunday.’

'Lisa တနင်္ဂနွေမှာ ရောက်မယ်။'

Again the near future, ‘Sunday’.

မဝေးတော့တဲ့အနာဂတ်မှာ 'တနင်္ဂနွေနေ့' ကို ထပ်တွေ့ပြန်တယ်။

So I use the present simple tense.

ဒါကြောင့် ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ရိုးရိုးတင်းတာကို သုံးပါတယ်။

I added an ‘s’ at the end of arrive, because Lisa, the subject, is a ‘she’.

ဆိုက်ရောက်ခါနီးမှာ 's' ကို ထည့်လိုက်တယ်၊ အကြောင်းအရင်းက Lisa က 'သူမ' မို့လို့ပါ။

‘We start work soon.’

'ငါတို့ မကြာခင် အလုပ်စတော့မယ်။'

Again, the near future, ‘soon’,

နောက်တဖန် မဝေးတော့သောအနာဂတ်၊ 'မကြာမီ'၊

so I use the present simple verb ‘start’.

ထို့ကြောင့် ကျွန်ုပ်သည် ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ရိုးရှင်းသောကြိယာ 'စတင်ခြင်း' ကိုသုံးပါသည်။

And finally, ‘My students come tomorrow.’

နောက်ဆုံးတော့ 'ငါ့ကျောင်းသားတွေ မနက်ဖြန်လာမယ်။'

This is something that will happen in the near future,

ဒါက မဝေးတော့တဲ့အနာဂတ်မှာ ဖြစ်လာတော့

so I use the verb ‘come’.

မယ့် ကြိယာ 'come' ကို သုံးပါတယ်။

So remember it is possible, and it is common to use the present simple tense

ထို့ကြောင့် ဖြစ်နိုင်သည်ကို သတိရပါ၊

to talk about something that will happen in the near future.

မဝေးတော့သော အနာဂတ်တွင် ဖြစ်ပျက်လာမည့် အရာများကို ပြောဆိုရန် ပစ္စုပ္ပန် ရိုးရှင်းသော တင်းမာမှုကို အသုံးပြုခြင်းသည် သာမာန်ဖြစ်သည်။

Let's go to the next usage.

နောက်အသုံးပြုနည်းကို သွားကြည့်ရအောင်။

Let's talk about a possible negative usage for the present simple tense,

ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ရိုးရိုးတင်းမာမှုအတွက် ဖြစ်နိုင်ချေရှိတဲ့ အနုတ်လက္ခဏာအသုံးပြုမှုအကြောင်း ပြောကြည့်ရအောင်၊

and that is ‘do not’ and ‘does not’.

အဲဒါကတော့ 'မလုပ်' နဲ့ 'မလုပ်ဘူး' ပါ။

The first example says, ‘Mike eats bread.’

ပထမဥပမာက 'မိုက်က မုန့်စားတယ်' တဲ့။

I put an ‘s’ at the end of ‘eat’ because the subject is Mike which is a ‘he’.

'စား' ရဲ့အဆုံးမှာ 's' ရေးထားတာမို့ အကြောင်းအရာက 'သူ' ဖြစ်တဲ့ Mike ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

Now that's not a negative statement.

အခုက အပျက်သဘောဆောင်တဲ့ ကြေညာချက်တော့ မဟုတ်ပါဘူး။

What happens when I want to turn it into a negative statement?

၎င်းကို အနှုတ်လက္ခဏာအဖြစ်သို့ ပြောင်းလဲလိုသောအခါ ဘာဖြစ်သွားသနည်း။

Well I change it like this - ‘Mike doesn't eat bread.’

'မိုက်က မုန့်မစားဘူး'၊

So you'll notice that I didn't move the ‘s’ here, okay.

ဒီတော့ ငါ 's' ကို ဒီမှာ မရွှေ့ဘူးဆိုတာ မင်း သတိထားမိလိမ့်မယ်။

Instead I added ‘doesn't’.

အဲဒီအစား 'မလုပ်ဘူး' လို့ ထပ်ဖြည့်လိုက်တယ်။

I took ‘does’ and ‘not’ and I turned it into a contraction by combining the two

ငါ 'လုပ်' နဲ့ 'မ' ကို ယူလိုက်ပြီး နှစ်ခုကို ပေါင်းပြီး

and making it ‘doesn't’.

'မလုပ်ဘူး' ဖြစ်အောင် လုပ်လိုက်တယ်။

So if the subject is ‘he’, ‘she’, or ‘it’,

ဒါကြောင့် အကြောင်းအရာက 'he'၊ 'she' ဒါမှမဟုတ် 'it' ဆိုရင်

we use ‘does not’ or ‘doesn't’ to make it negative.

'not' သို့မဟုတ် 'does't' ကို အနုတ်လက္ခဏာဖြစ်အောင် သုံးပါတယ်။

‘You swim well.’

'မင်း ရေကူးလို့ကောင်းလား'

In this case, I don't need to put an ‘s’ at the end of ‘swim’ because the subject

ဒီနေရာမှာ 's' ကို 'swim' ရဲ့အဆုံးမှာ ထည့်ဖို့ မလိုဘူးဆိုတော့ အကြောင်းအရာက

is ‘you’.

'မင်း' ပါ။

If I want to make this sentence negative, I use ‘don't’.

ဒီဝါကျကို အဆိုးမြင်ချင်ရင်တော့ 'မလုပ်' ကိုသုံးပါတယ်။

‘You don't swim well.’

'မင်း ရေမကူးတတ်ဘူး'

I use the contraction for ‘do’ and ‘not’.

All I have to do is add ‘do’ to the beginning and add a question mark at the end.

So take that out and say, ‘Sam plays computer games.’

The subject of the sentence is ‘he’.

To make a sentence, putting ‘does’ at the beginning is okay,

ဝါကျတစ်ခုဖန်တီးရန်၊ အစတွင် 'does' ကိုထည့်ခြင်းသည် အဆင်ပြေ

However, we don't put an ‘s’ at the end of ‘play’.

သော်လည်း၊ 'play' ၏အဆုံးတွင် 's' မထည့်ပါ။

Therefore, the correct answer is to simply say,

ထို့ကြောင့်၊ အဖြေမှန်မှာ

‘Does he play soccer every week?’

'သူသည် အပတ်တိုင်း ဘောလုံးကစားသလား' ဟု ရိုးရိုးရှင်းရှင်းပြောရခြင်းဖြစ်သည်။

And finally, ‘He always forget his book.’

နောက်ဆုံးအနေနဲ့ 'သူ့စာအုပ်ကို အမြဲမေ့နေတယ်'

In this case, the subject is ‘he’.

ဤကိစ္စတွင်၊ အကြောင်းအရာမှာ 'သူ' ဖြစ်သည်။

Remember, again, for he/she/it we add 's' or 'es' to the end of the verb.

What's the verb in the sentence?

ဝါကျမှာ ကြိယာဆိုတာ ဘာလဲ။

It's ‘forget’.

Therefore we have to say, ‘He always forgets his book.’

ထို့ကြောင့် 'သူသည် သူ့စာအုပ်ကို အမြဲမေ့နေ၏' ဟု ဆိုရပေမည်။

And we're looking at the verb ‘leave’.

ပြီးတော့ ကြိယာ 'leave' ကို ကြည့်နေတယ်။

What is the subject of the sentence?

ဝါကျ၏အကြောင်းအရာကား အဘယ်နည်း။

The correct answer is ‘airplane’.

အဖြေမှန်က 'လေယာဉ်'။

What subject pronoun do we use for ‘airplane’?

'လေယာဉ်' အတွက် ဘယ်ဘာသာရပ်နာမ်စားကို သုံးတာလဲ။

It's ‘it’.

'အဲဒါ' တဲ့။

Remember in the present simple tense, for ‘he’, ‘she’, ‘it’, we add an ‘s’

'he', 'she', 'it' တို့အတွက် ကြိယာတွင် 's'

or ‘es’ to the verb.

သို့မဟုတ် 'es' ကို ပေါင်းထည့်ပါ။

The verb here is ‘leave’ so we simply add an ‘s’.

In the second sentence, it says, ‘Does the movie _blank_ soon?’

ဒုတိယစာကြောင်းတွင်၊ 'ရုပ်ရှင် _blank_ မကြာမီထွက်ပါသလား။'

And we're using the verb ‘start’.

ပြီးတော့ ကျွန်တော်တို့ ကြိယာ 'start' ကို သုံးနေတယ်။

What is the subject of this sentence?

ဤစာကြောင်း၏အကြောင်းအရာကား အဘယ်နည်း။

It’s ‘movie’.

'ရုပ်ရှင်' ပါ။

And what subject pronoun do we use for movie?

ရုပ်ရှင်အတွက် ဘယ်ဘာသာရပ်နာမ်စားကို သုံးလဲ။

It’s ‘it’.

'အဲဒါ' တဲ့။

So it's like saying, ‘Does it _ blank _ soon?’

ဒီတော့ 'အဲဒါ _ လွတ်သွားမလား _ မကြာခင်' လို့ ပြောတာနဲ့တူတယ်။

Well this is a question, so we already have the correct word in the front - ‘does’.

ကောင်းပြီ ဒါက မေးခွန်းတစ်ခုပါ၊ ဒါကြောင့် ကျွန်တော်တို့မှာ မှန်ကန်တဲ့ စကားလုံး 'does' ရဲ့ အရှေ့မှာ ရှိပြီးသားပါ။

For he/she/it, when we're asking a question, we use ‘does’.

သူ/သူမအတွက်၊ မေးခွန်းတစ်ခုမေးတဲ့အခါ 'does' ကိုသုံးပါတယ်။

Now all we have to do is use the same verb in its base form,

အခုကျွန်တော်တို့လုပ်ရမှာက တူညီတဲ့ကြိယာကို သူ့ရဲ့အခြေခံပုံစံမှာသုံးပါ၊

so ‘Does the movie start soon?’

ဒါကြောင့် 'ရုပ်ရှင်က မကြာခင် စမှာလား။'

We do not add an ‘s’ or ‘es’ here.

ဤနေရာတွင် 's' သို့မဟုတ် 'es' ကို မထည့်ပါ။

Finally, it says, ‘Viki _ blank _ tomorrow.’

နောက်ဆုံးတွင် 'Viki _ blank _ မနက်ဖြန်' ဟုဆိုသည်။

The subject of the sentence is ‘Vicki’.

ဝါကျ၏အကြောင်းအရာမှာ 'Vicki' ဖြစ်သည်။

‘Vicki’ is a girl so the subject pronoun is ‘she’.

'Vicki' သည် မိန်းကလေးဖြစ်သောကြောင့် နာမ်စားမှာ 'သူမ' ဖြစ်သည်။

You'll remember now that for… in this case, we put ‘works’.

ဤကိစ္စတွင်၊ ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် 'အလုပ်များ' ကို ရေးထားသည်ကို ယခုပင် မှတ်မိနေမည်ဖြစ်သည်။

w-o-r-k-s ‘works’.

အလုပ် 'အလုပ်'။

‘Vicki works tomorrow.’

'Vicki မနက်ဖြန် အလုပ်သွားမယ်။'

Now let's find the mistakes in the sentence below.

ကဲ အောက်ကဝါကျမှာ အမှားတွေကို ရှာကြည့်ရအောင်။

‘He do leave at 3:30 p.m.’

'သူ 3:30 မှာ ထွက်သွားမှာပါ'

Actually there's only one mistake.

တကယ်တော့ အမှားတစ်ခုပဲ ရှိပါတယ်။

Can you find it?

ရှာတွေ့နိုင်မလား။

‘He do leave at 3:30 p.m.’

'သူ 3:30 နာရီမှာ ထွက်သွားမှာပါ'

We do not need the ‘do’ here.

'ဒီမှာ လုပ်စရာ' မလိုဘူး။

We only use ‘do’ in a question or in the negative form.

ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် မေးခွန်းတစ်ခုတွင် သို့မဟုတ် အနုတ်လက္ခဏာပုံစံဖြင့် 'do' ကိုသာ အသုံးပြုသည်။

But also the subject is ‘he’, so we would use ‘does’.

ဒါပေမယ့် ဘာသာရပ်က 'သူ' ဆိုတော့ 'does' ကို သုံးပါတယ်။

Either way we don't need this here.

ဘာပဲဖြစ်ဖြစ် ဒီနေရာကို မလိုအပ်ပါဘူး။

Well now we have the verb ‘leave’ with the subject ‘he’.

အခုတော့ 'သူ' ဆိုတဲ့ ကြိယာနဲ့ 'ထားခဲ့' ရှိတယ်။

Do you know what to do?

ဘာလုပ်ရမှန်းသိလား

We simply change this to ‘leaves’.

ဒါကို 'အရွက်' လို့ ပြောင်းတယ်။

Just like we did in the first sentence.

ပထမဝါကျမှာ ပြောခဲ့သလိုပါပဲ။

‘He leaves at 3:30 p.m.’

'သူ က ညနေ ၃း၃၀ မှာ ထွက်သွားတယ်'

In the next sentence, ‘They don't start school today.’

နောက်စာကြောင်းမှာ 'ဒီနေ့ ကျောင်းမစဘူး' တဲ့။

We have a negative sentence.

ကျွန်ုပ်တို့တွင် အဆိုးမြင်ဝါကျတစ်ခုရှိသည်။

‘They don't…’, that's correct.

'သူတို့မလုပ်ဘူး...' ဒါမှန်တယ်။

‘…do not’ is correct.

'မလုပ်နဲ့' မှန်တယ်။

For subject pronoun ‘they’.

ဘာသာရပ်နာမ်စားအတွက် 'သူတို့'။

However, in the negative form, we don't have to change the main verb at all.

သို့သော်၊ အနှုတ်ပုံစံတွင်၊ ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် အဓိကကြိယာကို လုံးဝပြောင်းလဲရန် မလိုအပ်ပါ။

Therefore, all we will do is say, ‘They don't start school today.’

ထို့ကြောင့် 'သူတို့ ဒီနေ့ ကျောင်းမစဘူး' လို့ ပြောရမှာပါပဲ။

No ‘s’.

Finally, ‘Does we eat at noon?’

ဒီဗီဒီယိုမှာ ပစ္စုပ္ပန်အဆက်မပြတ်ကာလကို သင်ပေးရတာ အရမ်းစိတ်လှုပ်ရှားမိပါတယ်။

This tense is used to describe: an action that's happening right now,

ဤတင်းမာမှုကို ဖော်ပြရန်အသုံးပြုသည်- ယခုဖြစ်ပျက်နေသည့် လုပ်ဆောင်ချက်တစ်ခု၊

a longer action in progress , and something happening in the near future.

Let's get started.

စလိုက်ကြစို့။

The present continuous tense is used to talk about actions that are happening right now.

ပစ္စုပ္ပန် အဆက်မပြတ် တင်းမာမှုကို လက်ရှိဖြစ်ပေါ်နေသော လုပ်ရပ်များအကြောင်း ပြောဆိုရန် သုံးသည်။

For example,

ဥပမာ၊

‘I'm teaching English’ and ‘You are studying English.’

'ငါ အင်္ဂလိပ်စာ သင်ပေးနေတယ်' နဲ့ 'မင်း အင်္ဂလိပ်စာ လေ့လာနေတယ်'။

Let's take a look at some more examples.

နောက်ထပ် ဥပမာအချို့ကို လေ့လာကြည့်ရအောင်။

The first sentence says, ‘He is watching a movie’.

ပထမစာကြောင်းက 'သူ ရုပ်ရှင်ကြည့်နေတယ်' တဲ့။

We start with the subject and a ‘be’ verb.

ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် အကြောင်းအရာနှင့် 'be' ကြိယာဖြင့် စတင်သည်။

In this case, the subject is ‘he’.

ဤကိစ္စတွင်၊ အကြောင်းအရာမှာ 'သူ' ဖြစ်သည်။

For ‘he’ / ‘she’ and ‘it’, we use the ‘be’ verb ‘is’.

'he' / 'she' နှင့် 'it' အတွက် 'be' ကြိယာ 'is' ကို သုံးသည်။

Then you'll notice I added an ‘-ing’ to the end of the verb ‘watch’.

ထို့နောက် ကြိယာ၏အဆုံးတွင် '-ing' ကို ထည့်ထားသည်ကို သတိပြုမိပါလိမ့်မည်။

‘He is watching a movie.’

'သူ ရုပ်ရှင်ကြည့်နေတယ်'

The next sentence says, ‘Tim is playing a computer game.’

နောက်စာကြောင်းက 'Tim က ကွန်ပျူတာဂိမ်းဆော့နေတယ်' တဲ့။

He's doing that right now.

သူအခုလုပ်နေတယ်။

Tim is a ‘he’, therefore, again we use the ‘be’ verb ‘is’.

Tim သည် 'he' ဖြစ်သောကြောင့် ထပ်မံ၍ 'be' ကြိယာ 'is' ကို သုံးပါသည်။

And again you'll notice I added ‘-ing’ to the end of the verb.

ပြီးတော့ ကြိယာရဲ့အဆုံးမှာ '-ing' ကို ထပ်ထည့်လိုက်တာကို မင်း သတိထားမိမှာပါ။

The next sentence says,

နောက်စာကြောင်းက

‘The machine is making a noise.’

'စက်က ဆူညံနေတယ်' တဲ့။

Now pay attention to the subject, ‘the machine’.

ယခု 'စက်' ဟူသော ဘာသာရပ်ကို အာရုံစိုက်ပါ။

What is the proper pronoun?

သင့်လျော်သောနာမ်စားကား အဘယ်နည်း။

The answer is ‘it’, therefore we use the ‘be’ verb ‘is’.

အဖြေမှာ 'it' ဖြစ်သောကြောင့် 'be' ကြိယာ 'is' ကို သုံးသည်။

‘The machine is making a noise.’

'စက်က အသံမြည်နေတယ်။'

We can also say, ‘It is making a noise’.

'ဆူညံနေတယ်' လို့လည်း ပြောနိုင်ပါတယ်။

Or the contraction, ‘It's making a noise’.

ဒါမှမဟုတ် 'ဆူညံနေတယ်' လို့ ကျုံ့နေတာလား။

And finally, ‘Tom and Ben are speaking English’.

နောက်ဆုံးတော့ 'Tom and Ben က အင်္ဂလိပ်လိုပြောနေတယ်'။

In this case, you'll notice that we use the ‘be’ verb ‘are’.

ဤကိစ္စတွင်၊ ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် 'be' ကြိယာ 'are' ကိုသုံးကြောင်း သတိပြုမိပါလိမ့်မည်။

Can you figure out why?

ဘာကြောင့်လဲဆိုတာ သိနိုင်ပါသလား။

That's because Tom and Ben - the subject pronoun for these two is ‘they’.

အဘယ်ကြောင့်ဆိုသော် Tom နှင့် Ben - ဤနှစ်ခုအတွက် နာမ်စားသည် 'သူတို့' ဖြစ်သောကြောင့်ပင်။

‘They are speaking English.’

'သူတို့က အင်္ဂလိပ်လို ပြောနေကြတာ။'

Let's move on to the next usage.

နောက်အသုံးပြုမှုသို့ ဆက်သွားကြပါစို့။

The present continuous tense is also used to describe a longer action in progress.

ပစ္စုပ္ပန် စဉ်ဆက်မပြတ် တင်းမာမှုကိုလည်း ကြာမြင့်စွာ လုပ်ဆောင်နေသည့် လုပ်ဆောင်ချက်ကို ဖော်ပြရန်အတွက်လည်း အသုံးပြုပါသည်။

Even though you might not be doing the action right now.

အခု လုပ်ရပ်ကို မလုပ်နိုင်သေးပေမယ့်။

Let's take a look at some examples.

ဥပမာအချို့ကို လေ့လာကြည့်ရအောင်။

The first sentence says,

ပထမစာကြောင်းက

‘I'm reading an interesting book these days.’

'ဒီနေ့ စိတ်ဝင်စားစရာကောင်းတဲ့ စာအုပ်တစ်အုပ်ကို ဖတ်နေတယ်' လို့ ဆိုပါတယ်။

In this case, the subject is ‘I’, so the ‘be’ verb is ‘am’.

ဤကိစ္စတွင်၊ အကြောင်းအရာသည် 'ငါ' ဖြစ်သောကြောင့် 'be' ကြိယာမှာ 'am' ဖြစ်သည်။

In this example, we use the contraction ‘I'm’ by putting ‘I’ and ‘am’ together.

ဤဥပမာတွင်၊ ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် 'ငါ' နှင့် 'am' ကို ပေါင်း၍ 'ငါ' ဟူသော အကျုံ့ကို သုံးသည်။

Again, you'll notice there's an ‘-ing’ after the verb.

တစ်ဖန်၊ ကြိယာနောက်တွင် '-ing' ရှိသည်ကို သတိပြုမိပါလိမ့်မည်။

The next sentence says,

နောက်ဝါကျမှာ

‘You are studying to become an English teacher.’

'မင်း အင်္ဂလိပ်စာ ဆရာဖြစ်ဖို့ စာသင်နေတယ်' တဲ့။

The subject here is ‘you’,

ဤနေရာတွင် ဘာသာရပ်သည် 'သင်'

therefore the ‘be’ verb is ‘are’.

ဖြစ်သောကြောင့် 'be' ကြိယာမှာ 'are' ဖြစ်သည်။

Next, ‘Steven is preparing for the IELTS exam.’

ထို့နောက် 'စတီဗင်သည် IELTS စာမေးပွဲအတွက် ပြင်ဆင်နေပါသည်။'

The subject here is ‘Steven’ which is a ‘he’,

ဤနေရာတွင် ဘာသာရပ်သည် 'သူ' ဖြစ်ပြီး 'စတီဗင်' ဖြစ်သော

therefore we use the ‘be’ verb ‘is’.

ကြောင့် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့ 'be' ကြိယာ 'is' ကို သုံးသည်။

And finally, ‘John and June are working at a company.’

နောက်ဆုံးတော့ 'John နဲ့ June က ကုမ္ပဏီတစ်ခုမှာ အလုပ်ဝင်နေတယ်' တဲ့။

If you look at the subject ‘John and June’, the pronoun for that is ‘they’.

'John and June' ဘာသာရပ်ကို ကြည့်လျှင် နာမ်စားသည် 'သူတို့' ဖြစ်သည်။

That's why we use the ‘be’ verb ‘are’.

ဒါကြောင့် 'be' ကြိယာ 'are' ကို သုံးပါတယ်။

‘They are working at a company.’

'သူတို့က ကုမ္ပဏီတစ်ခုမှာ အလုပ်လုပ်တယ်။'

Let's move on to the next usage.

နောက်အသုံးပြုမှုသို့ ဆက်သွားကြပါစို့။

The present continuous is also used to talk about near future plans.

ပစ္စုပ္ပန်စဉ်ဆက်မပြတ်ကို မကြာမီ အနာဂတ်အစီအစဉ်များအကြောင်း ဆွေးနွေးရာတွင်လည်း အသုံးပြုပါသည်။

Let's take a look.

ကြည့်ကြရအောင်။

‘She is meeting some friends tonight.’

'သူ ဒီည သူငယ်ချင်းနဲ့ တွေ့မယ်'

That's going to happen in the near future.

အဲဒါက မဝေးတော့တဲ့ အနာဂတ်မှာ ဖြစ်လာမှာပါ။

You'll notice that we have 'she', so the ‘be’ verb is ‘is’.

ကျွန်ုပ်တို့တွင် 'သူမ' ရှိသည်ကို သတိပြုမိမည်ဖြစ်သောကြောင့် 'be' ကြိယာမှာ 'is' ဖြစ်သည်။

And then we added an ‘-ing’ to the end of the verb ‘meet’.

ပြီးတော့ ကြိယာရဲ့အဆုံးမှာ '-ing' ကို 'meet' ပေါင်းထည့်တယ်။

The next example says, ‘We are going on vacation in July.’

နောက်ဥပမာတစ်ခုက 'ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် ဇူလိုင်လတွင် အားလပ်ရက်ခရီးထွက်မည်' ဟုဆိုသည်။

The subject here is ‘we’, therefore we use the ‘be’ verb ‘are’.

ဤနေရာတွင် ဘာသာရပ်သည် 'ငါ' ဖြစ်သောကြောင့် 'be' ကြိယာ 'are' ကို သုံးသည်။

We can also use a contraction and say, ‘We're going on vacation in July.’

‘tomorrow’ is the near future.

‘David’ is a ‘he’, so we use ‘is’.

Now let's talk about the negative form of the present continuous tense.

အခု ပစ္စုပ္ပန် စဉ်ဆက်မပြတ် တင်းမာမှုရဲ့ အနုတ်လက္ခဏာပုံစံ အကြောင်း ပြောကြည့်ရအောင်။

I have some examples here.

ဒီမှာ ဥပမာတချို့ရှိတယ်။

These two examples are for actions that are happening right now, or longer actions.

ဤဥပမာနှစ်ခုသည် ယခုဖြစ်ပေါ်နေသော လုပ်ဆောင်ချက်များအတွက် သို့မဟုတ် ရှည်လျားသောလုပ်ဆောင်ချက်များအတွက်ဖြစ်သည်။

These last two are for near future plans.

Let's take a look.

The first sentence says, ‘I am not having fun.’

Now that's not true for me because I am having fun,

but in this example I am not having fun.

You'll notice that the word ‘not’ goes between the ‘be’ verb and the ‘verb

'not' ဟူသော စကားလုံးသည် 'be' ကြိယာနှင့် 'ကြိယာ

-ing’.

-ing' အကြား ရောက်သွားသည်ကို သတိပြုမိပါလိမ့်မည်။

In the second example it says, ‘Jane isn't doing her homework.’

ဒုတိယဥပမာမှာ 'Jane က အိမ်စာမလုပ်ဘူး' လို့ဆိုတယ်။

Here we use the contraction ‘isn't’ for ‘is not’,

so just like the first sentence, we put ‘not’ between ‘is’ and ‘verb -ing’.

Here we have the subject ‘we’, therefore, we use the ‘be’ verb ‘are’.

Don’t forget to add a ‘not’ after that to make it negative.

Now let's talk about how to form ‘be’ verb questions in the present continuous tense.

Take a look at the subject though.

The subject is ‘he’ and that's why we start with the ‘be’ verb ‘is’.

You can answer, ‘Yes, he is.’

The second sentence says,

‘Are you coming to class?’

The subject here is ‘you’ and that's why we start with ‘are’.

So after that you have the subject and then the verb -ing.

Let's take a look at the first sentence.

‘What are you doing?’

I'm asking about right now.

For example, ‘I'm teaching English.’

I can be talking about a movie a show anything can be ‘it’.

We already have the verb ‘-ing’ here, so we need the ‘be’ verb.

so the correct answer is,

The next sentence says,

နောက်စာကြောင်းက

‘She _blank_ not watching TV.’

'သူမ _blank_ တီဗီမကြည့်ဘူး' တဲ့။

This is the negative form of the present continuous tense.

ဤသည်ကား ပစ္စုပ္ပန်အဆက်မပြတ် တင်းမာခြင်း၏ အနုတ်လက္ခဏာဖြစ်သည်။

We have the word ‘not’ before the verb ‘-ing’,

ကြိယာ '-ing' ရှေ့မှာ 'not' ဆိုတဲ့ စကားလုံးရှိတယ်၊

However, we're missing the ‘be’ verb again.

ဒါပေမယ့် 'be' ကြိယာကို ထပ်ပြီး လွဲနေတယ်။

What is the be verb to use if the subject is ‘she’?

အကြောင်းအရာသည် 'သူမ' ဖြစ်လျှင် be verb သည် အဘယ်နည်း။

the correct answer is ‘is’.

အဖြေမှန်က 'is' ပါ။

‘She is not watching TV.’

'သူမ တီဗွီမကြည့်ဘူး။'

This one says, ‘I _blank_ studying now.’

ဒီတစ်ယောက်က 'ငါ _blank_ အခုလေ့လာနေတယ်' လို့ပြောတယ်။

The subject here is ‘I’.

ဤနေရာတွင် ဘာသာရပ်သည် 'ငါ' ဖြစ်သည်။

Again think of the ‘be’ verb that goes before the subject ‘I’.

The ‘be’ verb is ‘am’.

If we wanted to turn this into the negative form,

we can also say, ‘I'm not studying now.’

'ငါ အခု မလေ့လာတော့ဘူး' လို့လည်း ပြောနိုင်ပါတယ်။

Now, take a look at the next sentence and find the mistake.

အခု နောက်ဝါကျကို တစ်ချက်ကြည့်လိုက်ပြီး အမှားကိုရှာပါ။

‘Layla is watch a movie.’

'Layla ရုပ်ရှင်ကြည့်နေတယ်။'

Here we have the subject and the subject pronoun for Layla would be ‘she’.

ဤနေရာတွင် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့တွင် အကြောင်းအရာရှိပြီး Layla ၏ နာမ်စားသည် 'သူမ' ဖြစ်သည်။

We have the correct ‘be’ verb - ‘is’,

ကျွန်ုပ်တို့တွင် မှန်ကန်သော 'be' ကြိယာ - 'is' ရှိသည်၊

However, you'll notice we forgot the ‘-ing’ at the end of the verb.

သို့သော် ကြိယာအဆုံးတွင် '-ing' ကို မေ့သွားသည်ကို သတိပြုမိပါလိမ့်မည်။

We need to say, ‘watching’.

'ကြည့်နေတယ်' လို့ ပြောရမယ်။

‘Layla is watching a movie.’

The next sentence says,

‘They playing soccer now.’

What's missing?

ဘာပျောက်နေတာလဲ။

If you got it the correct answer is we need the ‘be’ verb – ‘are’

because the subject is ‘they’.

Then we have the ‘be’ verb.

ထို့နောက် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့တွင် 'be' ကြိယာရှိသည်။

In this case we used a contraction for ‘they are – ‘they’re’.

This tense can be used to talk about an action that happened in the past,

but when it happened is not very important or it’s unknown.

Let's talk about one usage of the present perfect tense.

This tense can be used to talk about an action that happened in the past.

ဤတင်းမာမှုကို အတိတ်က ဖြစ်ပျက်ခဲ့သော လုပ်ရပ်တစ်ခုအကြောင်း ပြောရန် သုံးနိုင်သည်။

But when it happened is not important or not known.

ဒါပေမယ့် ဘယ်အချိန်က ဖြစ်ခဲ့လဲ ဆိုတာတော့ မသိရသေးပါဘူး။

However, this action is important to the conversation right now.

Let's take a look at some examples.

After that we use the past participle of the verb.

ထို့နောက်ကြိယာ၏အတိတ် participle ကိုသုံးသည်။

In this case, the verb is ‘be’.

ဤကိစ္စတွင်၊ ကြိယာသည် 'be' ဖြစ်သည်။

And so the past participle is ‘been’.

ဒါကြောင့် အတိတ်က ပါဝင်မှုက 'ဖြစ်' တယ်။

‘I have been to Canada.’

'ကျွန်မ ကနေဒါကို ရောက်ဖူးတယ်။'

The next sentence says, ‘My cousins have seen the movie.’

နောက်စာကြောင်းက 'ငါ့ဝမ်းကွဲတွေက ရုပ်ရှင်ကြည့်ဖူးတယ်' တဲ့။

My cousins is a ‘they’.

ငါ့ဝမ်းကွဲတွေက 'သူတို့' တဲ့။

And so again, we follow with ‘have’.

ဒါကြောင့် ထပ်ပြီးတော့ ' have' နဲ့ လိုက်လုပ်တယ်။

And the past participle of see is ‘seen’.

မြင်ခြင်း၏ အတိတ်သည် 'မြင်ခြင်း' ဖြစ်၏။

‘They have seen the movie.’

'ရုပ်ရှင်ကြည့်ဖူးတယ်'

Or ‘My cousins have seen the movie.’

ဒါမှမဟုတ် 'ငါ့ဝမ်းကွဲတွေက ရုပ်ရှင်ကြည့်ဖူးတယ်။'

The next example says, ‘Chad has gone home.’

Chad is a ‘he’.

ချဒ်သည် 'သူ' ဖြစ်သည်။

For ‘he’, ‘she’, ‘it’, we follow with ‘has’.

Then, the past participle ‘gone’ is for the verb ‘go’.

Let's move on to the next usage.

The present perfect tense is also used to describe an action that started in the past

ပစ္စုပ္ပန် ပြီးပြည့်စုံသော တင်းမာမှုကိုလည်း အတိတ်တွင် စတင်ခဲ့ပြီး

and continues in the present.

ပစ္စုပ္ပန်တွင် ဆက်လက်တည်ရှိနေသည့် လုပ်ဆောင်ချက်ကို ဖော်ပြရန်အတွက်လည်း အသုံးပြုပါသည်။

‘for’ and since’ are common expressions used with the present perfect tense.

'for' နှင့် since' တို့သည် present perfect tense ဖြင့် သုံးလေ့ရှိသော အသုံးအနှုန်းများဖြစ်သည်။

Let's take a look at these examples.

ဒီဥပမာတွေကို လေ့လာကြည့်ရအောင်။

‘I have worked there since 2002.’

'ကျွန်တော် 2002 ခုနှစ်ကတည်းက အဲဒီမှာ အလုပ်လုပ်ပါတယ်။

You'll notice we start with the subject.

အကြောင်းအရာဖြင့် စတင်သည်ကို သတိပြုမိပါလိမ့်မည်။

If it's ‘I’, ‘you’ or ‘we’, we have ‘have’.

'ငါ' 'မင်း' ဒါမှမဟုတ် 'ငါ' ဆိုရင် ငါတို့မှာ 'ရှိတယ်'။

Then the past participle of the verb.

ထိုအခါကြိယာ၏အတိတ် particip ။

In this case - ‘worked’.

ဒီနေရာမှာ - 'အလုပ်လုပ်တယ်'။

What you'll notice here is that we also have ‘since 2002’.

ဤနေရာတွင် သင်သတိပြုမိရမည့်အချက်မှာ ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် '၂၀၀၂ ခုနှစ်ကတည်းက' လည်းရှိနေသည်။

This shows when the action started, so with the expression ‘since’, you need to use

၎င်းသည် လုပ်ဆောင်ချက်စတင်သည့်အချိန်ကိုပြသသည်၊ ထို့ကြောင့် 'ကတည်းက' ဟူသောအသုံးအနှုန်းဖြင့်၊ သင်သည်

a specific point in time.

The next example does the same thing.

နောက်ဥပမာက အတူတူပါပဲ။

‘You have had a car since last year.’

'မနှစ်ကတည်းက မင်းမှာ ကားတစ်စီးရှိနေပြီ'

Again, we use ‘since’, so we have a specific point in time - ‘last year’.

တစ်ဖန်၊ ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် 'ကတည်းက' ကိုသုံးသည်၊ ထို့ကြောင့် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့တွင် တိကျသောအမှတ်- 'မနှစ်က' ရှိသည်။

Take a look at the next example.

နောက်ဥပမာကိုကြည့်ပါ။

‘Anna has liked him for weeks.’

'အန်နာက သူ့ကို ရက်သတ္တပတ်ပေါင်းများစွာ သဘောကျတယ်။'

In this case the subject is ‘Anna’.

Which is a ‘she’, and so we use ‘has’.

'သူမ' ဖြစ်တဲ့အတွက်ကြောင့် 'has' ကို သုံးပါတယ်။

Then the past participle ‘liked’.

ထိုအခါ အတိတ်က ပါဝင်မှုကို 'ကြိုက်သည်' တဲ့။

However, at the end of the sentence, we see ‘for weeks’.

သို့သော် ဝါကျအဆုံးတွင် 'ရက်သတ္တပတ်များ' ကို ကျွန်ုပ်တို့တွေ့မြင်ရသည်။

Not ‘since weeks’.

'ရက်သတ္တပတ်ကတည်းက' မဟုတ်ပါ။

When we use ‘for’, we talk about the duration.

ကျွန်တော်တို့ 'for' ကိုသုံးတဲ့အခါ ကြာချိန်အကြောင်းပြောပါမယ်။

We explain how long this action has been true.

ဤလုပ်ရပ်သည် မည်မျှကြာခဲ့ပြီဖြစ်သည်ကို ကျွန်ုပ်တို့ ရှင်းပြပါသည်။

And finally, ‘We have eaten lunch here for 3 months.’

နောက်ဆုံးတော့ 'ငါတို့ ဒီမှာ နေ့လည်စာ စားတာ 3 လရှိပြီ'

Again, the sentence ends with ‘for 3 months’.

တဖန်၊ ဝါကျသည် '၃ လ' ဖြင့် အဆုံးသတ်သည်။

So we show the duration.

အဲဒီတော့ ကြာချိန်ကို ပြတယ်။

Let's move on to the next usage.

နောက်အသုံးပြုမှုသို့ ဆက်သွားကြပါစို့။

In addition, the present perfect tense can be used to describe an action that recently

stopped.

ရပ်သွားခဲ့သော လုပ်ဆောင်ချက်တစ်ခုကို ဖော်ပြရန်အတွက် လက်ရှိ perfect tense ကို သုံးနိုင်သည်။

Let’s take a look at some examples.

ဥပမာအချို့ကို လေ့လာကြည့်ရအောင်။

‘I have just been to the doctor,’

'ကျွန်တော် ဆရာဝန်ဆီ ရောက်ဖူးပါတယ်'

So just like for all the other usages, we start with the subject,

ဆိုတော့ တခြား အသုံးအနှုန်းတွေလိုပဲ၊

‘have’ or ‘has’, and the past participle.

' have' or 'has' နဲ့ past particile နဲ့ စတယ်။

But you'll notice here, I used the word ‘just’ between ‘have’ and the verb.

ဒါပေမယ့် ဒီနေရာမှာ သတိထားမိမှာပါ၊ ငါ 'have' နဲ့ ကြိယာကြား 'just' ဆိုတဲ့ စကားလုံးကို သုံးခဲ့တယ်။

‘I have just been to the doctor.’

'ကျွန်တော်က အခုမှ ဆရာဝန်သွားဖူးတာ။'

This shows that it happened very recently.

ဒါဟာ သိပ်မကြာသေးခင်က ဖြစ်ပျက်ခဲ့တာကို ပြပါတယ်။

The next example says, ‘James has just seen his new baby.’

နောက်ဥပမာတစ်ခုက 'James က သူ့ကလေးအသစ်ကို မြင်ဖူးတယ်' တဲ့။

Again, just goes in between ‘have’ or ‘has’ and the verb.

တစ်ဖန်၊ ' have' သို့မဟုတ် 'has' နှင့် ကြိယာကြားတွင်သာ သွားပါသည်။

Take a look at the next example.

နောက်ဥပမာကိုကြည့်ပါ။

It says, ‘She has already been to China.’

'သူမက တရုတ်ပြည်ကို ရောက်နေပြီ' လို့ ပြောပါတယ်။

‘already’ is another word you can use to show that this action recently happened.

'ပြီးပြီ' သည် မကြာသေးမီက ဖြစ်ပျက်ခဲ့သည်ကို ပြသရန် သင်သုံးနိုင်သော အခြားစကားလုံးဖြစ်သည်။

However, ‘already’ can also be moved to the end of the sentence.

သို့သော် 'ပြီးပြီ' ကိုလည်း ဝါကျအဆုံးသို့ ရွှေ့နိုင်သည်။

So it's perfectly fine to say, ‘She has been to China already.’

ဒါကြောင့် 'သူမက တရုတ်ပြည်ကို ရောက်နေပြီ' လို့ ပြောရတာ ကောင်းပါတယ်။

And in the last example, ‘We have recently visited Tom.’

နောက်ဆုံးဥပမာတွင် 'ကျွန်ုပ်တို့ မကြာသေးမီက တွမ်ထံ သွားရောက်လည်ပတ်ခဲ့သည်'။

Again, you can put this word between ‘have’ or ‘has’ and the verb.

တစ်ဖန် သင်သည် ဤစကားလုံးကို ' have' သို့မဟုတ် 'has' နှင့် ကြိယာကြားတွင် ထည့်နိုင်သည်။

Or you can also put it at the end of the sentence.

‘My sons haven't played soccer since 2010.’

This time expression uses ‘since’.

And so we mention a specific point and time.

All you have to do is put ‘has’ at the beginning.

Then you follow with the subject and then the past participle.

We have to change it.

In this checkup, we'll take a look at the present perfect tense.

ဤစစ်ဆေးမှုတွင်၊ ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် ပစ္စုပ္ပန် ပြီးပြည့်စုံသော ကာလကို ကြည့်ပါမည်။

And how it is used to describe an action that finished recently.

We'll be focusing on the words, ‘just’, ‘already’ and ‘recently’ to show this.

Let's take a look at the first sentence.

‘She has just _blank_ that book.’

'သူ့မှာ ဒီစာအုပ် _blank_ ပဲရှိတယ်။'

And we're using the verb, ‘read’.

ပြီးတော့ ငါတို့က ကြိယာ 'ဖတ်' ကို သုံးနေတယ်။

Remember, we take the subject, ‘she’.

'သူမ' ဟူသော ဘာသာရပ်ကို ယူမှတ်ပါ။

And for ‘he’, ‘she’ and ‘it’, we say ‘has’.

ပြီးတော့ 'သူ'၊ 'သူမ' နဲ့ 'အဲ' အတွက် 'ရှိတယ်' လို့ ပြောကြတယ်။

So that's correct.

ဒါမှန်တယ်။

Now we need the past participle of ‘read’.

ယခုကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် 'ဖတ်ခြင်း' ၏အတိတ်ပါဝင်မှုကိုလိုအပ်သည်။

And that is ‘read’.

ပြီးတော့ အဲဒါ 'ဖတ်' တယ်။

‘She has just read that book.’

You'll notice I use the word, ‘just’ right before the past participle.

Next it says, ‘They have already’ and the verb is ‘wake up’.

နောက်တစ်ခုက 'They have already' လို့ ဆိုထားပြီး ကြိယာက 'နိုးပြီ' တဲ့။

If the subject is ‘he’, ‘she’, or ‘it’, we use ‘has’.

အကြောင်းအရာသည် 'သူ'၊ 'သူမ' သို့မဟုတ် 'it' ဖြစ်ပါက၊ ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် 'ရှိ' ကိုသုံးသည်။

But if the subject is ‘I’, ‘you’, ‘we’ or ‘they’, we use ‘have’.

ဒါပေမဲ့ အကြောင်းအရာက 'ငါ'၊ 'မင်း'၊ 'ငါ' ဒါမှမဟုတ် 'သူတို့' ဆိုရင် ငါတို့က 'ရှိသည်' ကိုသုံးတယ်။

So that's correct.

Also we have the word ‘already’ here to show that it happened recently

and that is ‘woken up’.

So the answer is,

The next sentence says,

And we have the word 'recently' to show when the action finished.

ပြီးတော့ လုပ်ဆောင်ချက်ပြီးသွားတဲ့အခါ ပြဖို့ 'မကြာသေးမီက' စကားလုံးလည်း ရှိတယ်။

And now we need to find the past participle of the verb ‘finish’.

ယခုကြိယာ 'finish' ၏ အတိတ်ပါ၀င်မှုကို ရှာဖွေရန် လိုအပ်ပါသည်။

The correct answer is.

အဖြေမှန်က။

‘We have recently finished, -ed, work.’

'ကျွန်ုပ်တို့ မကြာသေးမီက ပြီးခဲ့သည်၊ -ed၊ အလုပ်ဖြစ်သည်။'

Now try to find the mistake in the next sentence.

အခု နောက်ဝါကျမှာ အမှားကို ရှာကြည့်ပါ။

‘Morty has eaten just.’

' Morty စားပြီးပြီ။'

This sounds a little strange, right?

ဒါက နည်းနည်းတော့ ထူးဆန်းတယ်ဟုတ်လား။

That's because ‘just’ needs to come before the verb.

အဘယ်ကြောင့်ဆိုသော် ကြိယာရှေ့တွင် 'ရုံ' သည် လိုအပ်သောကြောင့် ဖြစ်သည်။

Therefore, the answer is ‘Morty has just eaten.’

The next sentence says, ‘Karen has recently be sick.’

Now we need the past participle of the verb.

‘be’ is our verb and the past participle of ‘be’ is ‘been’.

'be' သည် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့၏ကြိယာဖြစ်ပြီး 'be' ၏အတိတ်ပါဝင်မှုသည် 'been' ဖြစ်သည်။

‘Karen has recently been sick.’

And finally, ‘I have gone already to the dentist.’

နောက်ဆုံးတော့ 'ငါ သွားဆရာဝန်ဆီ သွားနေပြီ။'

This is similar to another question we looked at just before.

‘I have gone already to the dentist.’

The placement of ‘already’ is a little awkward.

So we can say, ‘I have already gone.’

ဒါကြောင့် 'ငါသွားပြီ' လို့ ပြောနိုင်ပါတယ်။

So we can put ‘already’ before the verb,

‘I have already gone to the dentist’

Or we can put this at the end,

‘I have gone to the dentist already.’

အဆုံးမှာ ထားနိုင်ပါတယ်

Both of those are correct.

This tense can be used to talk about an action

အတိတ်မှစတင်ပြီး ပစ္စုပ္ပန်တွင်ဆက်လက်လုပ်ဆောင်ခဲ့သော

that started in the past and continues in the present.

လုပ်ဆောင်ချက်တစ်ခုအကြောင်း ပြောဆိုရန် ဤတင်းမာမှုကို သုံးနိုင်သည်

It can also be used to talk about an action that hasn't happened recently.

You can use the present perfect continuous tense

အတိတ်မှစတင်ပြီး ပစ္စုပ္ပန်တွင်ဆက်လက်လုပ်ဆောင်ခဲ့သော လုပ်ဆောင်ချက်တစ်ခုအကြောင်းပြောရန်

to talk about an action that started in the past and continues in the present.

ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ပြီးပြည့်စုံသောစဉ်ဆက်မပြတ်တင်းမာမှုကို သင်အသုံးပြုနိုင်သည် ။

We want to emphasize duration

ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် ကြာချိန်ကို အလေးပေးလို

and you can do that by using ‘for’ or ‘since’ in your sentence.

ပြီး သင့်ဝါကျတွင် 'for' သို့မဟုတ် ' since' ကိုသုံးခြင်းဖြင့် ၎င်းကို ပြုလုပ်နိုင်သည်။

Let's take a look at some examples.

ဥပမာအချို့ကို လေ့လာကြည့်ရအောင်။

‘Charles has been studying English for an hour.’

'Charles က အင်္ဂလိပ်စာလေ့လာနေတာ တစ်နာရီလောက်ရှိပြီ'

Take a look at the subject, ‘Charles’.

'Charles' ဘာသာရပ်ကို လေ့လာကြည့်ပါ။

The subject pronoun for Charles is ‘he’.

Charles ၏ နာမ်စားမှာ 'သူ' ဖြစ်သည်။

And that's why we say ‘has’.

အဲဒါကြောင့် ငါတို့က 'ရှိ' လို့ ပြောတာ။

After that, we add ‘been’ and then verb ‘-ing’.

In this case, ‘studying.’

You'll also notice that at the end of the sentence we have for an hour.

That shows how long this action has been happening.

When you use ‘for’, you emphasize the duration. ‘for an hour’.

‘Charles has been studying English for an hour.’

Let's take a look at the next sentence.

နောက်စာကြောင်းကို လေ့လာကြည့်ရအောင်။

‘Lily has been playing the piano for 2 years.’

Lily က စန္ဒယားတီးတာ ၂ နှစ်ရှိပါပြီ။

In this case, Lily is a ‘she’ and that's why, again, we say ‘has’.

ဒီကိစ္စမှာ လီလီက 'သူမ' ဆိုတော့ 'ရှိတယ်' လို့ ပြောပြန်တယ်။

You'll notice again, we have ‘been’ and then verb ‘-ing’.

ငါတို့ 'ဖြစ်' ပြီးကြိယာ '-ing' ကို ထပ်ပြီး သတိပြုမိလိမ့်မယ်။

In this case, ‘playing’.

ဒီနေရာမှာ 'ကစားခြင်း'။

At the end of this sentence, we also used ‘for’.

ဒီစာကြောင်းရဲ့အဆုံးမှာတော့ 'for' လို့လည်း သုံးပါတယ်။

and then ‘two years’.

ပြီးတော့ 'နှစ်နှစ်'။

So again, we're showing how long this has been happening.

ဒီတော့ ဒီဟာက ဘယ်လောက်ကြာကြာ ဖြစ်ပျက်နေလဲဆိုတာကို ထပ်ပြီး ပြသနေပါတယ်။

The next sentence is a little different.

နောက်စာကြောင်းကတော့ နည်းနည်းကွဲတယ်။

‘It has been growing since June.’

'ဇွန်လကတည်းက ကြီးထွားလာတယ်။'

So it can be something like a plant.

ထို့ကြောင့် အပင်ကဲ့သို့ တစ်ခုခုဖြစ်နိုင်သည်။

The plant or it has been growing since June.

အပင် သို့မဟုတ် ဇွန်လကတည်းက ကြီးထွားလာခဲ့သည်။

Here we use ‘since’, not ‘for’.

ဤနေရာတွင် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် 'စကတည်းက' မဟုတ်ဘဲ 'အတွက်' ဟု သုံးသည်။

What's the difference?

ဘာကွာခြားလဲ။

We use a specific point in time with since.

We don't say ‘Since two hours’.

And finally, ‘Dan and I have been working since 6 a.m.’

နောက်ဆုံးတော့ 'Dan နဲ့ ငါက မနက် 6 နာရီကတည်းက အလုပ်လုပ်နေတာ'

The subject pronoun for ‘Dan and I’ is ‘We’.

'Dan and I' အတွက် subject pronoun က 'We' ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

Therefore we use ‘have’.

ဒါကြောင့် ' have' ကို သုံးပါတယ်။

At the end of the sentence, we have ‘since 6 a.m.’

ဝါကျအဆုံးမှာ 'မနက် 6 နာရီကတည်းက' ရှိတယ်၊ 'စကတည်းက' နဲ့ လုပ်ဆောင်ချက်

Remember that with ‘since’, we talked about a specific point in time when the action

စတင်ချိန် က တိကျတဲ့အချက်တစ်ခုအကြောင်း ပြောခဲ့တာကို သတိရပါ

started.

The present perfect continuous can also be used without emphasizing duration.

ပစ္စုပ္ပန် ပြီးပြည့်စုံသော စဉ်ဆက်မပြတ်ကိုလည်း အချိန်အလေးပေးစရာမလိုဘဲ အသုံးပြုနိုင်သည်။

In this case, we mean ‘lately’.

ဤကိစ္စတွင်၊ ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် 'လောလောလတ်လတ်' ကို ဆိုလိုသည်။

This action has been happening ‘lately’,

ဤလုပ်ဆောင်ချက်သည် 'မကြာသေးမီက' ဖြစ်ပျက်နေသော

and so we can use the word ‘lately’ or ‘recently’ to explain this.

ကြောင့် ၎င်းကိုရှင်းပြရန် 'lately' သို့မဟုတ် 'မကြာသေးမီက' ဟူသောစကားလုံးကို သုံးနိုင်သည်။

Let's take a look at some examples.

‘You have been missing many classes lately.’

You'll notice that at the end of the sentence I use the word ‘lately'

to describe when this action has been happening.

You can also use lately at the beginning of the sentence.

For example, ‘Lately, you have been missing many classes.’

ဥပမာ- 'မကြာသေးမီက အတန်းများစွာကို သင်ပျောက်ဆုံးနေပါသည်။'

The next example says, ‘Recently, Toby has been running every day.’

နောက်ဥပမာတစ်ခုက 'မကြာသေးမီက Toby သည် နေ့တိုင်းလည်ပတ်နေသည်' ဟုဆိုသည်။ ဒီဝါကျမှာ

In this sentence, we used ‘recently’ at the beginning

ဘယ်အချိန်မှာ လုပ်ဆောင်ချက်တွေ ဖြစ်ပျက်နေတယ်ဆိုတာကို ပြသဖို့

to show when does action has been happening.

အစမှာ 'မကြာသေးမီက' ကို သုံးပါတယ် ။

You can also use ‘recently’ at the end of the sentence.

ဝါကျအဆုံးတွင် 'မကြာသေးမီက' ကိုလည်း သုံးနိုင်သည်။

‘Toby has been running everyday recently.’

'တိုဘီသည် နေ့တိုင်း မကြာသေးမီက လုပ်ဆောင်နေပါသည်။'

In this example, the subject is Toby and so we use ‘has’ after Toby.

ဤဥပမာတွင်၊ အကြောင်းအရာသည် Toby ဖြစ်သောကြောင့် Toby ပြီးနောက် 'has' ကို သုံးသည်။

Because Toby is a ‘he’.

The next example says, ‘Lately, Dana has been swimming a lot.’

Again, we use ‘lately’ at the beginning of this sentence,

but you can also use it at the end.

Dana is a ‘she’ and so we followed this subject with ‘has’.

ဒါနသည် 'သူမ' ဖြစ်သောကြောင့် ဤအကြောင်းအရာကို ' has' ဖြင့် လိုက်နာခဲ့သည်။

And finally, ‘We've been practicing English together recently.’

နောက်ဆုံးအနေနဲ့ 'ငါတို့ မကြာသေးမီက အင်္ဂလိပ်စာ အတူတူ လေ့ကျင့်ခဲ့ကြတယ်' တဲ့။

‘We’ is the subject of this sentence and so we use ‘have’.

'We' သည် ဤဝါကျ၏အကြောင်းအရာဖြစ်ပြီး ' have' ကိုသုံးသည်။

Here, we use the contraction ‘We’ve’.

ဤတွင်၊ ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် 'We've' ကိုသုံးသည်။

‘We have’ become ‘We've’.

'ငါတို့' 'ငါ' ဖြစ်လာတယ်။

‘We've been practicing English together recently.’

'ငါတို့ မကြာသေးခင်ကမှ အင်္ဂလိပ်စာ အတူတူ လေ့ကျင့်ခဲ့တာ။'

We can put ‘recently’ at the end,

'မကြာသေးမီက' ကို အဆုံးတွင် ရေးနိုင်သည်၊

or we can say ‘Recently we've been practicing English together.’

သို့မဟုတ် 'မကြာသေးမီက ငါတို့ အင်္ဂလိပ်စာ အတူတူလေ့ကျင့်ခဲ့ကြသည်' ဟုဆိုနိုင်သည်။

Let's move on.

The present perfect continuous tense and also be used to talk about an action that recently

ပစ္စုပ္ပန် ပြီးပြည့်စုံသော စဉ်ဆက်မပြတ် တင်းမာမှုကိုလည်း မကြာသေးမီက

stopped and has a present result.

ရပ်တန့်ပြီး ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ရလဒ် ရှိသည့် လုပ်ဆောင်ချက်တစ်ခုအကြောင်း ပြောဆိုရန်လည်း သုံးသည်။

Let's take a look at the example.

ဥပမာကိုကြည့်ရအောင်။

‘I'm tired because I have been running.’

'ပြေးရတာ ပင်ပန်းတယ်'

The second part of the sentence, ‘I have been running’

ဝါကျ၏ဒုတိယအပိုင်း၊ 'ငါပြေးနေသည်'

is using the present perfect continuous tense.

သည် ပစ္စုပ္ပန်စုံလင်သောစဉ်ဆက်မပြတ်တင်းမာမှုကို အသုံးပြုသည်။

This is the action that recently stopped.

ဤသည်မှာ မကြာသေးမီက ရပ်တန့်ခဲ့သော လုပ်ဆောင်ချက်ဖြစ်သည်။

And as a result, ‘I'm tired’.

ရလဒ်အနေနဲ့ 'ငါပင်ပန်းတယ်' တဲ့။

This is the present result.

ဒါက လက်ရှိရလဒ်ပါ။

What's happening now, because of this.

အခု ဘာဖြစ်နေတာလဲ၊ အဲဒါကြောင့်။

‘I'm tired.’.

The next example says, ‘The street is wet because it has been raining.’

This is very similar to the first sentence.

Here, we know that it has been raining.

ဒီမှာ မိုးရွာနေပြီဆိုတာ သိတယ်။

And this action recently stopped.

ပြီးတော့ ဒီလုပ်ဆောင်ချက်က မကြာသေးခင်ကမှ ရပ်သွားတယ်။

As a result, in the present, The street is wet.

ထို့ကြောင့် ယခုလက်ရှိတွင် လမ်းသည် စိုစွတ်နေသည်။

The street is wet right now because of this action.

The next example says, ‘You don't understand because you haven't been listening.’

Here are some examples.

At the end of the sentence we have ‘these days’ to show that this is an action that's

In this case, the subject is ‘I’, so I use ‘have’.

The important part of this sentence is to put ‘not’ after ‘has’.

Why did we use ‘has’?

ဘာကြောင့် ' has ' ကို သုံးတာလဲ။

Because the subject is ‘Sue’ which is a 'she'.

အဘယ်ကြောင့်ဆိုသော် ဘာသာရပ်သည် 'ဆူး' ဖြစ်သောကြောင့် 'သူမ' ဖြစ်သည်။

For ‘he’, ‘she’, ‘it’, we use ‘has’.

‘hasn't’ is a contraction for ‘has not’.

Now, to turn this into a question,

all we have to do is change the order of the first two words.

So ‘He has’ becomes ‘Has he’.

That's the contraction ‘he has’, he's been feeling sad because his pet died.

For this tense, what we do is we first look at the subject, ‘he’.

ဒီတင်းမာမှုအတွက်၊ ငါတို့လုပ်တဲ့အရာက 'သူ' ဆိုတဲ့အကြောင်းအရာကို အရင်ကြည့်တယ်။

For ‘he’, ‘she’ and ‘it’, we put ‘has’.

'သူ'၊ 'သူမ' နဲ့ 'it' အတွက် ' has' လို့ ရေးထားတယ်။

Then, we add ‘been’. ‘has been’.

ပြီးရင် 'been' လို့ထည့်တယ်။ 'ပြီးပြီ'

Finally we add ‘-ing’ to the end.

‘He has been sleeping all week.’

Then what do you put?

Now if you want to make this negative, you can say,

Remember, we need to add ‘-ing’ to the end of the verb.

ကြိယာ၏အဆုံးတွင် '-ing' ထည့်ရန် လိုအပ်သည်ကို သတိရပါ။

So we should say,

‘My friends have been watching TV.’

Next, ‘Sal did talking for 10 minutes.’

However, in this sentence, the base form of the verb ‘eat’ was used.

Instead, remember we need ‘-ing’.

အဲဒီအစား '-ing' လိုတယ်ဆိုတာ သတိရပါ။

What's the mistake in this sentence?

ဒီစာကြောင်းမှာ ဘာအမှားရှိလို့လဲ။

The subject here is ‘We’.

ဒီနေရာမှာ ဘာသာရပ်က 'ငါ' ပါ။

For ‘I’, ‘you’, ‘we’ and ‘they’, we have to say ‘have been’, not ‘has

'ငါ'၊ 'မင်း'၊ 'ငါ' နဲ့ 'သူတို့' အတွက်တော့ 'ဖြစ်ပြီ' မဟုတ်ဘဲ ' ဖြစ်ပြီ'

been’.

လို့ ပြောရမယ်။

‘We have been riding bikes to school recently.’

'ငါတို့ ကျောင်းကို စက်ဘီးစီးလာတာ မကြာသေးဘူး'

And for the last one,

နောက်ဆုံးတစ်ခုကတော့

‘Jenny lately hasn't been helping me.’

'Jenny က ငါ့ကို ကူညီတာ မကြာသေးဘူး'

The lately is placed wrong in this sentence.

မကြာသေးမီက ဤစာကြောင်းတွင် မှားယွင်းစွာ ထည့်သွင်းထားသည်။

We have to say,

'အခုနောက်ပိုင်းမှာ Jenny က ငါ့ကို မကူညီတော့ဘူး'

‘Lately, Jenny hasn't been helping me.’

လို့ပြောရမယ် ။ ဒါမှမဟုတ်

or we can also say,

'Jenny က ငါ့ကို ကူညီတာ မကြာသေးဘူး'

‘Jenny hasn't been helping me lately.’

လို့လည်း ပြောနိုင်ပါတယ် ။

In this checkup, we'll talk about the present perfect continuous tense

ဤစစ်ဆေးမှုတွင်၊ ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ပြီးပြည့်စုံသော စဉ်ဆက်မပြတ်တင်းမာမှုအကြောင်းနှင့် မကြာသေးမီက ရပ်တန့်သွားသော်လည်း

and how it expresses an action that stopped recently

ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ရလဒ်ကို

but has a present result.

ဖော်ပြသည့် လုပ်ဆောင်ချက် အကြောင်း ကျွန်ုပ်တို့ပြောဆိုပါမည်

The first sentence says,

‘I _blank_ . That's why I'm so sweaty.’

'I _blank_ . အဲဒါကြောင့် ချွေးတွေအရမ်းထွက်တယ်။'

The verb here is ‘exercise’.

ဤနေရာတွင် ကြိယာသည် 'လေ့ကျင့်ခန်း' ဖြစ်သည်။

And the subject is ‘I’.

ပြီးတော့ ဘာသာရပ်က 'ငါ' တဲ့။

Do we use ‘has’ or ‘have’ for the subject ‘I’?

'ငါ' ဘာသာရပ်အတွက် 'has' သို့မဟုတ် 'have' ကို သုံးပါသလား။

The correct answer is ‘have’.

အဖြေမှန်က 'ရှိသည်'။

Then, we put ‘been’ and then verb ‘-ing’.

ထို့နောက် 'been' နှင့် ကြိယာ '-ing' ကို ထည့်သည်။

Okay, so the correct answer is,

ဟုတ်ပြီ ဒါဆို အဖြေမှန်က

‘I have been exercising.

'ငါ လေ့ကျင့်ခန်းလုပ်နေပြီ။

That's why I'm so sweaty.’

အဲဒါကြောင့် ချွေးတွေအရမ်းထွက်တယ်။'

That's the result.

အဲဒါ ရလဒ်ပါ။

The next sentence says,

'ငါ _blank_ ကြောင့် ဂျုံမှုန့်နဲ့ ဖုံးနေတယ်' တဲ့။

And the verb is ‘bake’.

ပြီးတော့ ကြိယာက 'ဖုတ်'။

I have ‘I'm covered in flour because’

ငါ့မှာ 'မုန့်ညက်ဖုံးနေလို့' ဆိုတော့

So this first part is the result.

ဒီပထမပိုင်းက ရလဒ်ပါ။

I need to show the action that stopped recently in the present perfect continuous tense.

ပစ္စုပ္ပန် ပြီးပြည့်စုံသော စဉ်ဆက်မပြတ် တင်းမာမှုတွင် မကြာသေးမီက ရပ်တန့်ခဲ့သော လုပ်ဆောင်ချက်ကို ကျွန်ုပ် ပြသလိုပါသည်။

Again, the subject is ‘I’.

နောက်တစ်ခုက ဘာသာရပ်က 'ငါ'။

So we use ‘have been’.

ဒါကြောင့် ' have been ' ကို သုံးပါတယ်။

Then, all we do is add ‘-ing’ to the end of baking.

ထို့နောက် မုန့်ဖုတ်ခြင်း၏အဆုံးတွင် '-ing' ကိုထည့်ပါ။

‘I have been baking.’

'ငါ ဖုတ်ပြီးပြီ။' မုန့်ဖုတ်ပြီးပြီမို့ မုန့်ညက်နဲ့ ဖုံးထား

So again,

‘I'm covered in flour because I have been baking.’

And we can use the contraction and say,

‘I've been baking.’

လို့ ပြောနိုင်ပါတယ်

Now, find the mistake in the next sentence.

။ ကဲ နောက်စာကြောင်းမှာ အမှားကိုရှာပါ။

‘She has think a lot, so she has a headache.’

'သူမက အများကြီးတွေးနေတော့ ခေါင်းကိုက်တယ်။'

Take a look.

ကြည့်ပါ။

The result is that ‘she has a headache.’

ရလဒ်ကတော့ 'သူမ ခေါင်းကိုက်နေတယ်' တဲ့။

So we need to use the present perfect continuous for the first part.

ဒါကြောင့် ပထမပိုင်းအတွက် ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ပြီးပြည့်စုံတဲ့ စဉ်ဆက်မပြတ်ကို သုံးဖို့ လိုပါတယ်။

‘She has’ is correct.

'သူ့မှာ' မှန်တယ်။

What's missing?

ဘာပျောက်နေတာလဲ။

Don't forget the ‘been’.

'ဖြစ်ဖူးသည်' ကို မမေ့ပါနှင့်။

Also don't forget that we need to add ‘-ing’ to the verb.

ကြိယာတွင် '-ing' ထည့်ရန်လည်း လိုအပ်ကြောင်း မမေ့ပါနှင့်။

‘She has been thinking a lot, so she has a headache.’

'သူမ အများကြီးတွေးနေတော့ ခေါင်းကိုက်နေတယ်'

Look at the next sentence and find the mistake.

နောက်စာကြောင်းကိုကြည့်ပြီး အမှားကိုရှာပါ။

‘I'm so hungry because I have been diet.’

'ငါက အစားအသောက် မစားလို့ ဗိုက်အရမ်းဆာတယ်။'

The only mistake here is that someone forgot to put the ‘-ing’ at the end of the verb,

ဤနေရာတွင် တစ်ခုတည်းသောအမှားမှာ ကြိယာ၏အဆုံးတွင် '-ing' ကို

‘diet’.

'အစားအသောက်' ထည့်ရန် မေ့သွားခြင်းပင်ဖြစ်သည်။

The correct answer is,

အဖြေမှန်က

‘I'm so hungry because I have been dieting.’

'ငါ ဗိုက်အရမ်းဆာနေလို့' တဲ့။
