I'm so excited to teach you the present simple tense in today's video.

ဒီနေ့ ဗီဒီယိုမှာ ပစ္စုပ္ပန် ရိုးရှင်းတဲ့ အချိန်ကို သင်ပေးရတာ အရမ်းစိတ်လှုပ်ရှားမိပါတယ်။

Now this lesson can be a little difficult,

အခု ဒီသင်ခန်းစာက နည်းနည်းတော့ ခက်ခဲနိုင်တာ

so I'll do my best to keep it easy and fun for you.

မို့ မင်းအတွက် လွယ်ကူပြီး ပျော်စရာကောင်းနေအောင် ငါ အကောင်းဆုံး ကြိုးစားပါ့မယ်။

My goal is for you to understand how and when to use this grammar by the end of the video.

Let's get started.

Let's start with the first usage for the present simple tense.

ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ရိုးရှင်းသောအချိန်အတွက် ပထမဆုံးအသုံးပြုမှုဖြင့်စကြပါစို့။

The first usage is pretty easy.

ပထမဆုံးအသုံးပြုပုံက တော်တော်လွယ်ပါတယ်။

We use it to talk about facts, truths, and generalizations.

အဖြစ်မှန်များ၊ အမှန်တရားများနှင့် ယေဘုယျဖော်ပြချက်များအကြောင်း ပြောဆိုရန် ၎င်းကို ကျွန်ုပ်တို့ အသုံးပြုပါသည်။

Let's look at some examples.

ဥပမာအချို့ကို ကြည့်ကြပါစို့။

‘The Sun is bright.’

'နေက တောက်ပတယ်။'

Now that's a fact.

အခုက အမှန်ပဲ။

It doesn't change.

မပြောင်းလဲပါဘူး။

Everybody knows that the Sun is bright.

နေက တောက်ပနေတယ်ဆိုတာ လူတိုင်းသိတယ်။

It was bright yesterday.

မနေ့က တောက်ပနေခဲ့တယ်။

It's bright today.

ဒီနေ့ တောက်ပနေတယ်။

And it will be bright tomorrow.

မနက်ဖြန်လည်း တောက်ပနေလိမ့်မယ်။

That makes it a fact.

အဲဒါက အမှန်ပါပဲ။

‘Pigs don't fly.’

'ဝက်တွေ မပျံဘူး။'

That's also a fact.

ဒါလည်း အမှန်ပဲ။

Everybody knows that pigs don't fly.

ဝက်မပျံသန်းဘူးဆိုတာ လူတိုင်းသိပါတယ်။

‘Cats are better than dogs.’

'ကြောင်တွေက ခွေးတွေထက် ပိုကောင်းတယ်'

Now this you may not agree with.

ယခု ဤအရာကို သင်သဘောမတူနိုင်ပါ။

This is my truth.

ဒါ ငါ့အမှန်တရားပဲ။

I'm making a generalization about cats and dogs in this example.

ဤဥပမာတွင် ကြောင်များနှင့် ခွေးများအကြောင်း ယေဘုယျဖော်ပြချက်တစ်ခု ပြုလုပ်နေပါသည်။

And finally, ‘It's cold in winter.’

This really depends on where you live, but for a lot of people, or let's say for

most people, it is cold in the winter,

so that's the truth for some people.

Now let's look back and see what verb I used in the present simple tense.

အခု ပြန်ကြည့် ပြီး ပစ္စုပ္ပန် ရိုးရှင်းတဲ့ အချိန် မှာ ဘယ်ကြိယာ ကို သုံး လဲ ကြည့် ရအောင် ။

For the first sentence, we have ‘is’.

ပထမစာကြောင်းအတွက် 'is' ရှိသည်။

I use the ‘be’ verb ‘is’ to talk about the Sun.

နေမင်းအကြောင်းပြောဖို့ 'be' verb 'is' ကိုသုံးပါတယ်။

In the next sentence, I use the negative of do - ‘do not’

နောက်ဝါကျမှာ၊ do - 'do not' ဆိုတဲ့ အနုတ်လက္ခဏာကို သုံး

And you'll notice I use the contraction and put these two words together to make it ‘don't’.

ပြီးတော့ ကျုံ့ပြီး ဒီစကားလုံးနှစ်လုံးကို 'မလုပ်ဘူး' ဖြစ်အောင် တွဲသုံးတာ သတိထားမိမှာပါ။

‘Cats are better than dogs.’

'ကြောင်တွေက ခွေးတွေထက် ပိုကောင်းတယ်'

I use the ‘be’ verb "are" to talk about cats because ‘cats’ is plural.

ကြောင်တွေအကြောင်းပြောဖို့ 'be' ကြိယာ "are" ကိုသုံးပါတယ် 'cats' က အများကိန်းပါ။

And finally, it's cold and winter.

နောက်ဆုံးအနေနဲ့ကတော့ အေးပြီး ဆောင်းရာသီပေါ့။

Here I use the ‘be’ verb "is" again,

ဤနေရာတွင် ကျွန်ုပ်သည် 'be' ကြိယာ "is" ကို ထပ်မံအသုံးပြုသော်လည်း

but I use the contraction to combine ‘it’ and ‘is’

'it' နှင့် 'is' တို့ကို ပေါင်းစပ်ရန် ကျုံ့ခြင်းကို အသုံးပြုပြီး

and made ‘it’s’.

'it's' ဖြစ်သည်။

Let's move on to the next usage.

နောက်အသုံးပြုမှုသို့ ဆက်သွားကြပါစို့။

We also use the present simple tense to talk about habits and routines.

အလေ့အထများနှင့် လုပ်ရိုးလုပ်စဉ်များအကြောင်း ဆွေးနွေးရန် ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ရိုးရိုးတင်းမာမှုကိုလည်း အသုံးပြုပါသည်။

So things and actions that happen regularly.

ဒါကြောင့် ပုံမှန်ဖြစ်ပျက်နေတဲ့ အရာတွေ၊

Let’s look at the examples.

ဥပမာတွေကို ကြည့်ရအောင်။

‘I always eat lunch at noon.’

'နေ့လည်စာ အမြဲစားတယ်။'

You'll notice I use the adverb ‘always’ because I'm talking about something that I

ငါ

do regularly.

ပုံမှန်လုပ်တဲ့အရာတစ်ခုအကြောင်းပြောနေတာကြောင့် ကြိယာဝိသေသန 'အမြဲတမ်း' ကိုသုံးတာ မင်းသတိထားမိလိမ့်မယ်။

What is that?

‘Eat lunch at noon.’

So I use the present simple tense.

ဒါကြောင့် ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ရိုးရိုးတင်းတာကို သုံးပါတယ်။

And here I use the verb ‘eat’.

ဒီနေရာမှာ ငါ 'စား' ဆိုတဲ့ ကြိယာကို သုံးပါတယ်။

‘I eat…’

'ငါစားတယ်...'

The second example says you play games every day.

ဒုတိယဥပမာက မင်း နေ့တိုင်း ဂိမ်းဆော့တယ်ဆိုတယ်။

Do you see the clue that helps you know that this is something that happens regularly?

ဤအရာသည် ပုံမှန်ဖြစ်ပျက်နေသည့်အရာဖြစ်သည်ကို သင်သိရန် ကူညီပေးသည့် သဲလွန်စကို သင်မြင်ပါသလား။

It's ‘every day’.

'နေ့တိုင်း' ပါ။

So it's something that happens as a routine or a habit,

ဒါကြောင့် ဒါဟာ လုပ်ရိုးလုပ်စဉ် ဒါမှမဟုတ် အလေ့အထတစ်ခုအနေနဲ့ ဖြစ်ပျက်နေတာ

so you play games.

ကြောင့် ဂိမ်းတွေဆော့ပါ။

The verb here is ‘play’.

ဤနေရာ၌ ကြိယာသည် 'ကစားခြင်း' ဖြစ်သည်။

‘You play…’

'မင်းကစားတယ်...'

The next example says ‘Seth starts work at 9:00 a.m. daily.’

နောက်ဥပမာက 'Seth က နေ့စဉ် မနက် 9:00 မှာ အလုပ်စတယ်။

Again this is something that happens regularly.

တစ်ဖန် ဤသည်မှာ ပုံမှန်ဖြစ်ပျက်နေသောအရာဖြစ်သည်။

‘Seth goes to work at 9:00 a.m.’ every day.

'Seth က နေ့တိုင်း မနက် 9:00 မှာ အလုပ်လုပ်တယ်။

Now you'll notice I put a blue line under the ‘s’ in ‘starts’.

အခုဆို starts မှာ 's' ဆိုတဲ့ အပြာရောင်စာကြောင်းလေး ရေးထားတာကို သတိထားမိမှာပါ။

Can you figure out why?

ဘာကြောင့်လဲဆိုတာ သိနိုင်ပါသလား။

Well remember that when the subject of a sentence is ‘he’, ‘she’, or ‘it’,

ဝါကျတစ်ခု၏အကြောင်းအရာသည် 'he', 'she', သို့မဟုတ် 'it' ဖြစ်သောအခါ

we need to add an ‘s’ or ‘es’ to the end of the verb in the present simple tense.

ကြိယာ၏အဆုံးတွင် 's' သို့မဟုတ် 'es' ထည့်ရန် လိုအပ်သည်ကို သတိရပါ။

Seth is a ‘he’, so we need to add an ‘s’.

Seth သည် 'he' ဖြစ်သောကြောင့် 's' ကို ထည့်ရန် လိုအပ်သည်။

‘Seth starts work at 9:00 a.m. daily.’

'Seth သည် နေ့စဉ် နံနက် ၉ နာရီတွင် အလုပ်စတင်သည်။'

And the last example: ‘They study English every Monday.’

နောက်ဆုံး ဥပမာ- 'သူတို့က တနင်္လာနေ့တိုင်း အင်္ဂလိပ်စာ လေ့လာတယ်။'

Again, ‘every Monday’ means that they do it regularly,

တဖန် 'တနင်္လာနေ့တိုင်း' ဆိုသည်မှာ ၎င်းတို့ကို ပုံမှန်ပြုလုပ်ခြင်းဖြစ်ပြီး၊

and that's why we use the present simple tense.

ထို့ကြောင့် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ရိုးရိုးတင်းမာမှုကို သုံးပါသည်။

‘They study…’.

'စာကျက်ကြတယ်...'

So as a review, remember we use the present simple tense

ထို့ကြောင့် သုံးသပ်ချက်တစ်ခုအနေဖြင့် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည်

to talk about habits and routines that happen regularly.

ပုံမှန်ဖြစ်ပျက်နေသည့် အလေ့အထများနှင့် လုပ်ရိုးလုပ်စဉ်များအကြောင်း ပြောဆိုရန် ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ရိုးရှင်းသောအချိန်ကို အသုံးပြုကြောင်း သတိရပါ

Let's move on.

။ ဆက်ကြရအောင်။

We also use the present simple tense with non-continuous verbs.

ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် အဆက်မပြတ်ကြိယာများဖြင့် ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ရိုးရိုးတင်းမာမှုကိုလည်း အသုံးပြုပါသည်။

These are verbs that we don't use in the continuous form,

၎င်းတို့သည် ယခုဖြစ်ပျက်နေသည့်တိုင်

even if they're happening right now.

ဆက်တိုက်ပုံစံဖြင့် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့အသုံးမပြုသောကြိယာများဖြစ်သည်

They're also called stative verbs.

။ သူတို့ကို stative verbs လို့လည်း ခေါ်တယ်။

These are connected with thoughts, opinions, feelings, emotions, and our five senses.

ဒါတွေက အတွေးတွေ၊ အမြင်တွေ၊ ခံစားချက်တွေ၊ စိတ်ခံစားမှုတွေ၊ အာရုံငါးပါးနဲ့ ဆက်စပ်နေတယ်။

Let's look at these examples.

ဒီဥပမာတွေကို ကြည့်ရအောင်။

‘I love my mom.’

'ကျွန်မ အမေ့ကို ချစ်တယ်။'

The verb here is ‘love’.

ဒီနေရာမှာ ကြိယာက 'ချစ်တယ်' တဲ့။

That's an emotion, so I use the present simple tense.

အဲဒါက စိတ်ခံစားမှုတစ်ခုမို့ ကျွန်တော်ကတော့ present simple tense ကို သုံးပါတယ်။

‘It smells good.’

'အနံ့ ကောင်းတယ်'

‘Smell’ is one of the five senses, so I use the present simple tense.

'အနံ့' သည် အာရုံငါးပါးထဲမှ တစ်ခုဖြစ်သောကြောင့် ပစ္စုပ္ပန် ရိုးရှင်းသော အချိန်ကို သုံးပါသည်။

You'll notice I underlined the ‘s’ because remember the subject is ‘it’.

အကြောင်းအရာက 'it' လို့ မှတ်ထားလို့ 's' ကို မျဉ်းသားထားတာ သတိထားမိမှာပါ။

‘Kelly feels happy.’

'Kelly က ပျော်တယ်။'

This is talking about a feeling.

ဒါက ခံစားချက်တစ်ခုအကြောင်း ပြောနေတာ။

Again the subject here is ‘Kelly’ which is a ‘she’,

နောက်တဖန် ဤနေရာတွင် ဘာသာရပ်သည် 'သူမ' ဖြစ်သည့် 'ကယ်လီ' ဖြစ်သည်၊

so I added an ‘s’ to the verb.

ထို့ကြောင့် ကျွန်ုပ်သည် ကြိယာသို့ 's' ထည့်လိုက်ပါသည်။

And finally, ‘They need help.’

နောက်ဆုံးအနေနဲ့ 'သူတို့အကူအညီလိုတယ်။'

We don't say, ‘they are needing help’ even though it's happening right now.

'သူတို့ အကူအညီလိုနေတယ်' လို့ လောလောဆယ် မပြောတတ်ပါဘူး။

‘Need’ is non-continuous, so we say, ‘they need help’,

'လိုအပ်သည်' သည် စဉ်ဆက်မပြတ်ဖြစ်နေသောကြောင့် 'သူတို့အကူအညီလိုသည်' ဟုဆိုသည်၊ ထို့ကြောင့်

so remember you also use the present simple tense with non-continuous verbs,

အတွေးများ၊ အမြင်များ၊ ခံစားချက်များ၊ စိတ်ခံစားမှုများနှင့် ကျွန်ုပ်တို့၏ အာရုံငါးပါးတို့နှင့် ဆက်စပ်နေသော

connected with thoughts, opinions, feelings, emotions, and our five senses.

ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ရိုးရှင်းသော တင်းမာမှုကိုလည်း မှတ်သားထားပါ ။ ဆက်ကြရအောင်။ စပီကာများသည်

Let's move on.

မဝေးတော့သောအနာဂတ်တွင်

Speakers occasionally use the present simple tense to talk about something that will happen

ဖြစ်ပေါ်လာမည့်အရာများကို ပြောဆိုရန် ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ရိုးရိုးတင်းမာမှုကို အခါအားလျော်စွာ အသုံးပြုကြသည်

in the near future.

Now this can be a little confusing, but we're not using the future tense,

ယခုတော့ အနည်းငယ် ရှုပ်ထွေးနိုင်သော်လည်း အနာဂတ်ကာလကို ကျွန်ုပ်တို့ မသုံးတော့ပါ၊

we're using the present simple tense.

ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် ပစ္စုပ္ပန် ရိုးရှင်းသော အချိန်ကို အသုံးပြုနေပါသည်။

It's possible to do that and it's actually common for people to do that.

အဲဒါကို လုပ်နိုင်တယ်၊ အဲဒါက လူတွေအတွက် တကယ်ဖြစ်ရိုးဖြစ်စဉ်ပါပဲ။

Again, for something that will happen in the near future.

နောက်တဖန် မဝေးတော့သော အနာဂတ်တွင် ဖြစ်ပေါ်လာမည့် တစ်စုံတစ်ခုအတွက်။

Let's look at the examples.

ဥပမာတွေကို ကြည့်ရအောင်။

‘I have class at 6 p.m.’

'ငါ အတန်းချိန် 6 နာရီ '

‘6 p.m.’ that's pretty soon, so I can say,

' 6 နာရီ ' ဆိုတော့ 'ငါ အတန်းရှိပြီ'

'I have class.'

လို့ ပြောနိုင်ပါတယ် ။

- the present simple tense.

- ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ရိုးရှင်းသောအချိန်။

‘Lisa arrives on Sunday.’

'Lisa တနင်္ဂနွေမှာ ရောက်မယ်။'

Again the near future, ‘Sunday’.

မဝေးတော့တဲ့အနာဂတ်မှာ 'တနင်္ဂနွေနေ့' ကို ထပ်တွေ့ပြန်တယ်။

So I use the present simple tense.

ဒါကြောင့် ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ရိုးရိုးတင်းတာကို သုံးပါတယ်။

I added an ‘s’ at the end of arrive, because Lisa, the subject, is a ‘she’.

ဆိုက်ရောက်ခါနီးမှာ 's' ကို ထည့်လိုက်တယ်၊ အကြောင်းအရင်းက Lisa က 'သူမ' မို့လို့ပါ။

‘We start work soon.’

'ငါတို့ မကြာခင် အလုပ်စတော့မယ်။'

Again, the near future, ‘soon’,

နောက်တဖန် မဝေးတော့သောအနာဂတ်၊ 'မကြာမီ'၊

so I use the present simple verb ‘start’.

ထို့ကြောင့် ကျွန်ုပ်သည် ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ရိုးရှင်းသောကြိယာ 'စတင်ခြင်း' ကိုသုံးပါသည်။

And finally, ‘My students come tomorrow.’

နောက်ဆုံးတော့ 'ငါ့ကျောင်းသားတွေ မနက်ဖြန်လာမယ်။'

This is something that will happen in the near future,

ဒါက မဝေးတော့တဲ့အနာဂတ်မှာ ဖြစ်လာတော့

so I use the verb ‘come’.

မယ့် ကြိယာ 'come' ကို သုံးပါတယ်။

So remember it is possible, and it is common to use the present simple tense

ထို့ကြောင့် ဖြစ်နိုင်သည်ကို သတိရပါ၊

to talk about something that will happen in the near future.

မဝေးတော့သော အနာဂတ်တွင် ဖြစ်ပျက်လာမည့် အရာများကို ပြောဆိုရန် ပစ္စုပ္ပန် ရိုးရှင်းသော တင်းမာမှုကို အသုံးပြုခြင်းသည် သာမာန်ဖြစ်သည်။

Let's go to the next usage.

နောက်အသုံးပြုနည်းကို သွားကြည့်ရအောင်။

Let's talk about a possible negative usage for the present simple tense,

ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ရိုးရိုးတင်းမာမှုအတွက် ဖြစ်နိုင်ချေရှိတဲ့ အနုတ်လက္ခဏာအသုံးပြုမှုအကြောင်း ပြောကြည့်ရအောင်၊

and that is ‘do not’ and ‘does not’.

အဲဒါကတော့ 'မလုပ်' နဲ့ 'မလုပ်ဘူး' ပါ။

The first example says, ‘Mike eats bread.’

ပထမဥပမာက 'မိုက်က မုန့်စားတယ်' တဲ့။

I put an ‘s’ at the end of ‘eat’ because the subject is Mike which is a ‘he’.

'စား' ရဲ့အဆုံးမှာ 's' ရေးထားတာမို့ အကြောင်းအရာက 'သူ' ဖြစ်တဲ့ Mike ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

Now that's not a negative statement.

အခုက အပျက်သဘောဆောင်တဲ့ ကြေညာချက်တော့ မဟုတ်ပါဘူး။

What happens when I want to turn it into a negative statement?

၎င်းကို အနှုတ်လက္ခဏာအဖြစ်သို့ ပြောင်းလဲလိုသောအခါ ဘာဖြစ်သွားသနည်း။

Well I change it like this - ‘Mike doesn't eat bread.’

'မိုက်က မုန့်မစားဘူး'၊

So you'll notice that I didn't move the ‘s’ here, okay.

ဒီတော့ ငါ 's' ကို ဒီမှာ မရွှေ့ဘူးဆိုတာ မင်း သတိထားမိလိမ့်မယ်။

Instead I added ‘doesn't’.

အဲဒီအစား 'မလုပ်ဘူး' လို့ ထပ်ဖြည့်လိုက်တယ်။

I took ‘does’ and ‘not’ and I turned it into a contraction by combining the two

ငါ 'လုပ်' နဲ့ 'မ' ကို ယူလိုက်ပြီး နှစ်ခုကို ပေါင်းပြီး

and making it ‘doesn't’.

'မလုပ်ဘူး' ဖြစ်အောင် လုပ်လိုက်တယ်။

So if the subject is ‘he’, ‘she’, or ‘it’,

ဒါကြောင့် အကြောင်းအရာက 'he'၊ 'she' ဒါမှမဟုတ် 'it' ဆိုရင်

we use ‘does not’ or ‘doesn't’ to make it negative.

'not' သို့မဟုတ် 'does't' ကို အနုတ်လက္ခဏာဖြစ်အောင် သုံးပါတယ်။

‘You swim well.’

'မင်း ရေကူးလို့ကောင်းလား'

In this case, I don't need to put an ‘s’ at the end of ‘swim’ because the subject

ဒီနေရာမှာ 's' ကို 'swim' ရဲ့အဆုံးမှာ ထည့်ဖို့ မလိုဘူးဆိုတော့ အကြောင်းအရာက

is ‘you’.

'မင်း' ပါ။

If I want to make this sentence negative, I use ‘don't’.

ဒီဝါကျကို အဆိုးမြင်ချင်ရင်တော့ 'မလုပ်' ကိုသုံးပါတယ်။

‘You don't swim well.’

'မင်း ရေမကူးတတ်ဘူး'

I use the contraction for ‘do’ and ‘not’.

ကျွန်တော်ကတော့ 'do' နဲ့ 'not' အတွက် ကျုံ့တာကို သုံးပါတယ်။

I combine them to make ‘don't’,

ငါ အဲဒါတွေကို 'မလုပ်ဘူး' ဖြစ်အောင် ပေါင်းစပ်ထားတယ်၊

so if the subject is ‘I’, ‘you’, ‘we’, or ‘they’,

ဒါကြောင့် အကြောင်းအရာက 'ငါ'၊ 'မင်း'၊ 'ငါ' ဒါမှမဟုတ် 'သူတို့' ဆိုရင်

we use ‘do not’ or ‘don't’.

'မလုပ်' ဒါမှမဟုတ် 'မလုပ်ဘူး' ဆိုပြီး သုံးပါတယ်။

So to review ‘do not’ and ‘does not’ or ‘don't’ and ‘doesn't’

ထို့ကြောင့် 'မလုပ်' နှင့် 'မလုပ်' သို့မဟုတ် 'မလုပ်' နှင့် 'မ' တို့ကို ပြန်လည်သုံးသပ်ရန် 'မ' သည် ပစ္စုပ္ပန်ရိုးရိုး

is a possible usage for the negative for present simple

တင်းမာမှု အတွက် အနုတ်လက္ခဏာအတွက် ဖြစ်နိုင်ချေရှိသော အသုံးပြုမှုဖြစ်သည်

tense.

Now I'll talk about one possible question form for the present simple tense

In order to turn it into a question, it's really simple.

All I have to do is add ‘do’ to the beginning and add a question mark at the end.

Now if you were thinking of the negative, the

In this case, the subject is ‘he’.

Remember, again, for he/she/it we add 's' or 'es' to the end of the verb.

ကြိယာ၏အဆုံးတွင် 's' သို့မဟုတ် 'es' ပေါင်းထည့်သည်ကို သတိရပါ။

What's the verb in the sentence?

ဝါကျမှာ ကြိယာဆိုတာ ဘာလဲ။

It's ‘forget’.

အဲဒါ 'မေ့'။

Therefore we have to say, ‘He always forgets his book.’

ထို့ကြောင့် 'သူသည် သူ့စာအုပ်ကို အမြဲမေ့နေ၏' ဟု ဆိုရပေမည်။

Take a look at the first sentence.

ပထမစာကြောင်းကို လေ့လာကြည့်ပါ။

It says, ‘The airplane _ blank _ tonight.’

'လေယာဉ် _ ဗလာ _ ဒီည' လို့ ပြောတယ်။

And we're looking at the verb ‘leave’.

ပြီးတော့ ကြိယာ 'leave' ကို ကြည့်နေတယ်။

What is the subject of the sentence?

ဝါကျ၏အကြောင်းအရာကား အဘယ်နည်း။

The correct answer is ‘airplane’.

အဖြေမှန်က 'လေယာဉ်'။

What subject pronoun do we use for ‘airplane’?

'လေယာဉ်' အတွက် ဘယ်ဘာသာရပ်နာမ်စားကို သုံးတာလဲ။

It's ‘it’.

'အဲဒါ' တဲ့။

Remember in the present simple tense, for ‘he’, ‘she’, ‘it’, we add an ‘s’

'he', 'she', 'it' တို့အတွက် ကြိယာတွင် 's'

or ‘es’ to the verb.

သို့မဟုတ် 'es' ကို ပေါင်းထည့်ပါ။

The verb here is ‘leave’ so we simply add an ‘s’.

ဒီနေရာမှာ ကြိယာက 'leave' ဖြစ်တဲ့အတွက်ကြောင့် 's' ကို ရိုးရိုးရှင်းရှင်း ထည့်ပါတယ်။

The correct answer is, ‘The airplane leaves tonight.’

အဖြေမှန်က 'ဒီည လေယာဉ်ထွက်မယ်' တဲ့။

In the second sentence, it says, ‘Does the movie _blank_ soon?’

ဒုတိယစာကြောင်းတွင်၊ 'ရုပ်ရှင် _blank_ မကြာမီထွက်ပါသလား။'

And we're using the verb ‘start’.

ပြီးတော့ ကျွန်တော်တို့ ကြိယာ 'start' ကို သုံးနေတယ်။

What is the subject of this sentence?

ဤစာကြောင်း၏အကြောင်းအရာကား အဘယ်နည်း။

It’s ‘movie’.

'ရုပ်ရှင်' ပါ။

And what subject pronoun do we use for movie?

ရုပ်ရှင်အတွက် ဘယ်ဘာသာရပ်နာမ်စားကို သုံးလဲ။

It’s ‘it’.

'အဲဒါ' တဲ့။

So it's like saying, ‘Does it _ blank _ soon?’

ဒီတော့ 'အဲဒါ _ လွတ်သွားမလား _ မကြာခင်' လို့ ပြောတာနဲ့တူတယ်။

Well this is a question, so we already have the correct word in the front - ‘does’.

ကောင်းပြီ ဒါက မေးခွန်းတစ်ခုပါ၊ ဒါကြောင့် ငါတို့မှာ မှန်ကန်တဲ့ စကားလုံးရှိတယ် - 'does' ဆိုတဲ့ စကားလုံးကို အရှေ့မှာ ရှိပြီးသားပါ။

For he/she/it, when we're asking a question, we use ‘does’.

သူ/သူမအတွက်၊ မေးခွန်းတစ်ခုမေးတဲ့အခါ 'does' ကိုသုံးပါတယ်။

Now all we have to do is use the same verb in its base form,

အခုကျွန်တော်တို့လုပ်ရမှာက တူညီတဲ့ကြိယာကို သူ့ရဲ့အခြေခံပုံစံမှာသုံးတာပါ၊

so ‘Does the movie start soon?’

ဒါကြောင့် 'ရုပ်ရှင်က မကြာခင်စတင်မှာလား။'

We do not add an ‘s’ or ‘es’ here.

ဤနေရာတွင် 's' သို့မဟုတ် 'es' ကို မထည့်ပါ။

Finally, it says, ‘Viki _ blank _ tomorrow.’

နောက်ဆုံးတွင် 'Viki _ blank _ မနက်ဖြန်' ဟုဆိုသည်။

The subject of the sentence is ‘Vicki’.

ဝါကျ၏အကြောင်းအရာမှာ 'Vicki' ဖြစ်သည်။

‘Vicki’ is a girl so the subject pronoun is ‘she’.

'Vicki' သည် မိန်းကလေးဖြစ်သောကြောင့် နာမ်စားမှာ 'သူမ' ဖြစ်သည်။

You'll remember now that for… in this case, we put ‘works’.

ဤကိစ္စတွင်၊ ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် 'အလုပ်များ' ကို ရေးထားသည်ကို ယခုပင် မှတ်မိနေမည်ဖြစ်သည်။

w-o-r-k-s ‘works’.

အလုပ် 'အလုပ်'။

‘Vicki works tomorrow.’

'Vicki မနက်ဖြန် အလုပ်သွားမယ်။'

Now let's find the mistakes in the sentence below.

ကဲ အောက်ကဝါကျမှာ အမှားတွေကို ရှာကြည့်ရအောင်။

‘He do leave at 3:30 p.m.’

'သူ 3:30 မှာ ထွက်သွားမှာပါ'

Actually there's only one mistake.

တကယ်တော့ အမှားတစ်ခုပဲ ရှိပါတယ်။

Can you find it?

ရှာတွေ့နိုင်မလား။

‘He do leave at 3:30 p.m.’

'သူ 3:30 နာရီမှာ ထွက်သွားမှာပါ'

We do not need the ‘do’ here.

'ဒီမှာ လုပ်စရာ' မလိုဘူး။

We only use ‘do’ in a question or in the negative form.

ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် မေးခွန်းတစ်ခုတွင် သို့မဟုတ် အနုတ်လက္ခဏာပုံစံဖြင့် 'do' ကိုသာ အသုံးပြုသည်။

But also the subject is ‘he’, so we would use ‘does’.

ဒါပေမယ့် ဘာသာရပ်က 'သူ' ဆိုတော့ 'does' ကို သုံးပါတယ်။

Either way we don't need this here.

ဘာပဲဖြစ်ဖြစ် ဒီနေရာကို မလိုအပ်ပါဘူး။

Well now we have the verb ‘leave’ with the subject ‘he’.

အခုတော့ 'သူ' ဆိုတဲ့ ကြိယာနဲ့ 'ထားခဲ့' ရှိတယ်။

Do you know what to do?

ဘာလုပ်ရမလဲ သိလား

We simply change this to ‘leaves’.

ဒါကို 'အရွက်' လို့ ပြောင်းတယ်။

Just like we did in the first sentence.

ပထမဝါကျမှာ ပြောခဲ့သလိုပါပဲ။

‘He leaves at 3:30 p.m.’

'သူ က ညနေ ၃း၃၀ မှာ ထွက်သွားတယ်'

In the next sentence, ‘They don't start school today.’

နောက်စာကြောင်းမှာ 'ဒီနေ့ ကျောင်းမစဘူး' တဲ့။

We have a negative sentence.

ကျွန်ုပ်တို့တွင် အဆိုးမြင်ဝါကျတစ်ခုရှိသည်။

‘They don't…’, that's correct.

'သူတို့မလုပ်ဘူး...' ဒါမှန်တယ်။

‘…do not’ is correct.

'မလုပ်နဲ့' မှန်တယ်။

For subject pronoun ‘they’.

ဘာသာရပ်နာမ်စားအတွက် 'သူတို့'။

However, in the negative form, we don't have to change the main verb at all.

သို့သော်၊ အနှုတ်ပုံစံတွင်၊ ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် အဓိကကြိယာကို လုံးဝပြောင်းလဲရန် မလိုအပ်ပါ။

Therefore, all we will do is say, ‘They don't start school today.’

ထို့ကြောင့် 'သူတို့ ဒီနေ့ ကျောင်းမစဘူး' လို့ ပြောရမှာပါပဲ။

No ‘s’.

's' မရှိပါ။

Finally, ‘Does we eat at noon?’

နောက်ဆုံးတော့ 'နေ့လည်မှာ စားမလား'

The correct answer is ‘do’.

အဖြေမှန်က 'လုပ်'။

We say ‘do’.

ငါတို့ပြောတာ 'လုပ်' တဲ့။

So the correct way to say this sentence or question is,

ဒါကြောင့် ဒီဝါကျ ဒါမှမဟုတ် မေးခွန်းကို ပြောဖို့ မှန်ကန်တဲ့နည်းလမ်းက

‘Do we eat at noon?’

'နေ့လည်မှာ စားမလား' တဲ့။
