So, the first idiom, sitting pretty.

第一个表达- sitting pretty

If you are sitting pretty, you are in a favourable position.

当你说“sitting pretty"的时候，表示你在一个令人满意的状态中

You're living in luxury or comfort.

你也许正在享受着奢华的舒适感

For example, I got a promotion at work

比如，我被升职了

and now I'm sitting pretty.

现在我当然要“美美地享受这个状态”

Idiom number two, pretty as a picture.

第二个习语是- “ pretty as a picture”

If something is as pretty as a picture,

如果某件事物如照片一样美好

it means it's very nice looking or presentable.

这就意味着它非常耐看，而且超级吸引人的眼球

For example, I cleaned my room,

比如，我打扫了房间

and now it is as pretty as a picture.

现在整个房间都如画一样干净整洁

Yea.

So, idiom number three is not a pretty sight.

第三个习语是“ not a pretty sight"

If something isn't a pretty sight,

如果某件事物“不是一个好看的景点”

it means it's not nice to look at.

那说明它不值得去欣赏

It could be a situation, it could be a view.

它也许是某种情境，抑或是某个风景

In either sense, it's ugly.

换言之，它有点儿难看

For example, this calamari isn't a pretty sight,

比如，这个炸鱿鱼面相不太好看

but it tastes delicious.

但是很美味

Okay, idiom number four is a little bit complicated.

好，第四个习语有点儿复杂

It's not exactly an idiom,

它不能完全被成为习语

but it's an informal phrase using the word pretty.

而更像是一个非正式的表达，里面包含了“pretty"这个词

It is pretty much.

这个表达是“pretty much"

Pretty much means nearly, almost or more or less.

这个表达的意思是“几乎，大概，或多或少”

For example, I'm pretty much done with my nails.

比如说：我差不多要做完指甲了

I've almost finished them.

我差不多已经做完了

And last, but not least, idiom number five,

好啦～最后一个习语是

not just a pretty face.

not just a pretty face

If someone is not just a pretty face,

如果形容某个人不仅仅长了一张漂亮的脸蛋儿

it means not only are they attractive,

这表示他们不仅长相迷人

but they're very intelligent, too.

而且非常聪明伶俐

For example, she's a model,

比如，她是个模特

but she also works as a rocket scientist.

但她同时还是一个研究火箭的专家

She's not just a pretty face.

她绝不仅仅靠外貌吸引人的眼球哦～
