Just a quick warning, a couple of the words that I'm going

The first bit of new vocabulary

that I'm going to share with you

qe do te ndaj me ju

is actually a phrasal verb and this is to piss off.

aktualisht esht nje shprehje foljore dhe kjo eshte " ngrit nervat "

And you can also be pissed off.

dhe ti ndoshta mund jesh me nerva.

And it means to make angry or to annoy.

Dhe do te thot te besh me nerva ose te bezdisesh.

So I could say, I felt really pissed off

pra mund te them, u ndjeva me te vertet e nevrikosur

when I saw that somebody had scratched my car.

kur pash dike qe me kishte gervishtur makinen.

Or I think I really pissed my teacher off

ose une mendoj se ja ngrita nervat mesuesit

when I didn't hand in my homework on time.

Just so you know, that word, to piss off,

pra e dini, ate fjale, tja ngish nervat

piss on its own is actually a vulgar word for

" piss on " ne vetvete esht nje fjale vulgare per

to urinate, so it's not respectful.

te urinuar, pra nuk eshte shume e respektueshme.

So around friends, very informal situations.

Pra prane shokeve, ne situata jo formale.

But, it's important you understand it.

Por, eshte e rendesishme ta kuptoni ate.

The next one is another phrasal verb and this is

Tjetra eshte nje tjeter shprehje foljore

to rile somebody up, to rile one up.

tja heqesh dikujt pinin, tja heqesh pinin.

And again it means to make somebody angry,

to push them until they maybe explode or lose their temper.

ti shtysh ata deri sa te shperthejne ose ta humbin toruan

So to rile up or to rile somebody up is to make them angry.

pra tja heqesh pinin ose tja heqesh dikujt pinin eshe ta besh dike me nerva.

So I could say, somebody's been picking on me for a while

pra un mund te them, dikush po me ngacmon per nje fare kohe

and they're really riling me up,

dhe ata po ma heqin me te vertet pinin.

I feel like I'm going to lose my temper.

po ndihem sikur do ta humb toruan.

OK, the next words all go with the verb to be.

Ne rregull, te gjtha fjalet ne vijim shkojne me foljen 'te jesh'

So these are all ways to say to be angry, or to be annoyed.

pra keto jane te gjitha menyrat per te the thene te jesh i nervikosur, ose te jesh besdisur.

So the first one, to be livid.

pra e para eshte, te acarohesh

Livid just means really, really, really angry.

i acaruar do te thote te jesh me te vertet, me te vertet shum i nervikosur

Then we have to be fuming.

Atehere kemi dhe te te dali tym

Again, similar to livid, really, really angry.

Perseri, e ngjashme me i acaruar, me te vertet, me te vertet shum i nervikosur

Then we have to be seething.

Athere kemi te jesh duke vluar

If you seethe you are just so angry.

Then we have a couple that aren't as strong.

We have to be irked.

That's annoyed and just ever so slightly pissed off.

And we also have miffed.

If somebody does something that makes you go oh,

And now I have some idioms for you, some expressions

The first one is to rub somebody up the wrong way,

And to rub somebody the wrong way, think about it this way,

Dhe mos ti shkosh dikujt mbas qefit, mendoni ne kete menyre

you can stroke a cat the right way

ti mund te perkdhelesh nje mace ne menyren e duhur

or you can stroke them the wrong way and it annoys them.

ose mund ti perkedhelesh nga e kunderta dhe kjo gje i besdis ato.

Well, this is exactly the same for people.

Pra, kjo eshte e njejta me njerzit.

If you rub somebody up the wrong way, you are treating them

Neqoftese nuk i shkon dikujt mbas qefit, ti po i trajton ata

in a way that might make them angry or annoyed.

ne nje menyre qe mund ti bej ata te nevrikosur ose te besdisur.

That really rubbed me up the wrong way,

Ajo me te vertet nuk me shkoj mas qefit

that really annoyed me.

The next one, to be at the end of one's tether.

Tjetra , te arrish kulmin

So if I say I'm at the end of my tether,

Pra nese them arrita kulmin

it means I am this close to losing to losing my temper.

do te thote qe jam prane humbjes se toruas.

To getting really, really angry.

Te berjes me te vertet, me te vertet me nerva.

You've really offended me, you've really annoyed me,

Ti me te vertet me ke ofenduar, ti me te vertet me ke besdisur mua,

I'm this close to really exploding.

Another very similar one is the last straw.

So the last straw is that final thing in a collection

of many little things that have annoyed you,

but that one thing it's the last straw,

it's the thing that makes you lose your temper.

So I could say I had a terrible day

but my running training being cancelled was the last straw.

I just, pff, screw it, was really angry.

The next two are about losing your temper.

And obviously if you lose your temper it means (snaps)

that's it, you are angry, you are shouting,

kaq ishte, je i nevrikosur, je duke bertitur,

you get maybe a bit aggressive.

So one way of saying to lose one's

pra nje menyre per te thene tja humbesh dikujt

temper is to lose one's rag.

toruan eshte tja humbesh dikujt sensin

So rag replaces temper in this case.

pra " rang" zevendeson toruan ne kete rast

So if somebody lost their rag it means they

pra nese dikudh humbet sensin e tij do te thot ata

exploded in a fit of anger.

shperthyen ne nje gjendje nevrikosje

And another option is to fly off the handle.

Dhe nje tjeter opsion eshte xhindosje.

Again to lose one's rag, to fly off the handle,

Perseri tja humbesh dikujt sensin, ta xhindosesh

to lose one's temper.

tja humbesh toruan.
