English Adjective Order - Highly Important Lesson!

And today I thought I'd do a bit of grammar which I haven't done in a very long time.

今日は長い間やっていなかった文法について共有したいと思います！

Today we going to talk about adjective order.

今日は形容詞の順番についてです。

Which is really really important if you want to sound like a native speaker.

これはネイティブのように話すためにはとても重要なことです。

Let's get on with the video.

では、始めましょうか

Now this is a general order.

これは一般的な順番なので時々違った順番をネイティブから聞くかもしれません

You might sometimes hear native speakers using a different order but this is generally the order that we use.

でもこれは私たちが使う一般的な形式であることを忘れないでね

It's quite long but it goes as the following.

ちょっと長いけどついてきてね

First we would say "opinion".

まず始めに

見た目から

"Opinion".

So something is "ugly" or "gorgeous".

例えば、不細工とか綺麗とか

そして次に大きさ

Then we would say the "size" of the noun.

"Big-tiny".

大きい、とか小さいとか

Then we would say the "shape".

そして次に形について

"Fat". "Round".

太っている、とか丸いとか

Then we would say the condition.

次に状態について

"Broken". "Dirty".

壊れているとか、汚いとか

Then we would say the "age".

次に古さについて

"Ancient". "New" for example.

古くからの、とか新しいとか

次に色について

Then the "colour".

"Red". "White". You guys know the colours.

赤とか白とか

色は分かるよね

Then the "pattern".

次に模様について

"Spotty". "Striped".

斑点がある、とか縞々とか

Then we would say the "origin".

次に出身について

"Spanish". "Indonesian".

スペインの、とかインドネシアのとか

Then we would going to say the "material".

次に素材について

"Cotton". "Metal".

綿とか金属とか

And finally the "purpose".

そして最後に目的・用途について

So "sleeping". For like a "sleeping bag".

寝袋、とか花瓶とか

Or a "flower" for a "flower pot".

So... So this is the order that we use to list the adjectives before a noun.

これらが私たちが名詞の前につかう形容詞の順番です

But my top tip is we don't tend to list more than three.

私の一番の秘策は

３個までしか使わない事です

So use this order, pick three of them and put it before a noun.

このリストから３つだけをピックアップします

So for example "I've got a red, Spanish, Flamenco dress.".

例えば、私は「赤」と「スペインの」と「フラメンコドレス」を選びました

No, I really really do.

ほんとに私好きなの、、、

I'm so in love with it. I can't wait to wear it at the Feria de Sevilla this year.

ビデオの初めにこのドレスを着るのが待ちきれないの

Okay.

Or I could say I am wearing a "burgundy, silk" blouse.

違う例では

私はワインレッドのシルクのブラウスを着ているとも言える

So as I like to talk about important items and prized possessions...

私が重要なアイテムとか宝物について話すのもいいけど

...in the comments, I would like you to write three objects that you really really love.

コメント欄に３つの本当に好きなものを書いてほしい

So I want you to describe them using adjectives in the correct order.

それを正しい順番に並べてみてね
