English Adjective Order - Highly Important Lesson!

Today we going to talk about adjective order.

Oggi parleremo dell'ordine degli aggettivi che è davvero importante se volete parlare come un madrelingua

Which is really really important if you want to sound like a native speaker.

Let's get on with the video.

Now this is a general order.

You might sometimes hear native speakers using a different order but this is generally the order that we use.

ma questo è generalmente l'ordine che usiamo

It's quite long but it goes as the following.

E' piuttosto lungo ma funziona come segue

First we would say "opinion".

Per primo mettiamo la nostra opinione. L'opinione.

"Opinion".

So something is "ugly" or "gorgeous".

Per esempio se qualcosa è brutto o meraviglioso.

Then we would say the "size" of the noun.

Dopo mettiamo la dimensione del nome. Grande, piccolo

"Big-tiny".

Then we would say the "shape".

Poi mettiamo la forma. Grasso, rotondo

"Fat". "Round".

Then we would say the condition.

in seguito la condizione. Rotto, sporco

"Broken". "Dirty".

Then we would say the "age".

L' età. Antico, nuovo, per esempio

"Ancient". "New" for example.

Ancora i colori. Rosso, bianco, conoscete i colori

Then the "colour".

"Red". "White". You guys know the colours.

Then the "pattern".

Poi il disegno. A pois, a strisce

"Spotty". "Striped".

Then we would say the "origin".

dopodiché metteremmo l'origine. Spagnolo, indonesiano

"Spanish". "Indonesian".

Then we would going to say the "material".

Poi proseguiremmo mettendo il materiale. Di cotone, di metallo

"Cotton". "Metal".

And finally the "purpose".

e infine lo scopo. Quindi dormire, per un sacco a pelo o un fiore per un vaso

So "sleeping". For like a "sleeping bag".

Or a "flower" for a "flower pot".

So... So this is the order that we use to list the adjectives before a noun.

Dunque questo è l'ordine che seguiamo per elencare gli aggetttivi di un sostantivo

But my top tip is we don't tend to list more than three.

Ma il mio consiglio principale è che non tendiamo a non usarne più di tre

So use this order, pick three of them and put it before a noun.

Quindi usando questo ordine, prendetene tre e metteteli davanti ad un nome

Quindi per esempio: io ho un vestito rosso da flamenco

So for example "I've got a red, Spanish, Flamenco dress.".

No, I really really do.

No, ce l'ho davvero!

I'm so in love with it. I can't wait to wear it at the Feria de Sevilla this year.

Me ne sono innamorata. Non vedo l'ora di indossarlo alla Fiera di Siviglia

Okay.

Or I could say I am wearing a "burgundy, silk" blouse.

O potrei dire: sto indossando una camicetta bordò di seta

So as I like to talk about important items and prized possessions...

Quindi come a me piace parlare di oggetti importanti o proprietà di valore

...in the comments, I would like you to write three objects that you really really love.

So I want you to describe them using adjectives in the correct order.
