EVERY DAY vs EVERYDAY What is the Difference? Learn English Vocabulary

In this video, I’m going to talk about the two similar and sometimes confusing English words

‘every day’ and ‘everyday’.

'every day' และ 'everday'

These two words are commonly confused in English

คำสองคำนี้มักสับสนในภาษาอังกฤษ

especially in writing,

but after watching this video,

you will have a better understanding of the difference and when to use these words.

Let’s get started.

Let’s start with ‘everyday’.

มาเริ่มต้นกันที่ 'ทุกวัน'

It's one word and it's an adjective.

มันเป็นคำเดียวและเป็นคำคุณศัพท์

It means something that is commonplace or usual.

แปลว่า สิ่งที่เป็นธรรมดาหรือธรรมดา.

It's something that's suitable to be used on ordinary days.

เป็นสิ่งที่เหมาะที่จะใช้ในวันธรรมดาๆ

Let’s look at some examples.

ลองดูตัวอย่างบางส่วน

The first sentence says,

ประโยคแรกพูดว่า

‘Since we're just walking around town, I think I’ll wear my everyday shoes.’

'เนื่องจากเราแค่เดินเล่นรอบเมือง ฉันคิดว่าฉันจะสวมรองเท้าทุกวัน'

In this case, the word ‘everyday’ is used to describe these shoes.

ในกรณีนี้ คำว่า 'ทุกวัน' ใช้เพื่ออธิบายรองเท้าคู่นี้

Here it means these are my usual shoes - you know shoes I wear on a normal day.

นี่หมายความว่านี่เป็นรองเท้าตามปกติของฉัน - คุณรู้ไหมว่าฉันใส่รองเท้าในวันปกติ

The next sentence says,

ประโยคถัดไปกล่าวว่า

‘The worries of everyday life can drag you down.’

Here ‘everyday’ is used to describe worries.

What kind of worries?

Common worries.

Worries that are usual for many people.

ความกังวลเรื่องปกติของใครหลายๆคน

Now, I will talk about ‘every day’.

ตอนนี้ผมจะพูดถึง 'ทุกวัน'

These are two words.

เหล่านี้เป็นสองคำ

It is an adverbial phrase about time.

เป็นคำวิเศษณ์เกี่ยวกับเวลา.

It means each day or daily.

แปลว่า แต่ละวันหรือทุกวัน.

Let’s look at some examples.

ลองดูตัวอย่างบางส่วน

The first sentence says,

ประโยคแรกพูดว่า

‘I need to start going to the gym every day.’

'ฉันต้องเริ่มไปยิมทุกวัน'

Here, it means Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday all the way up till Sunday

ในที่นี้หมายถึงวันจันทร์ อังคาร พุธ พฤหัสบดี จนถึงวันอาทิตย์

- every single day.

ทุกวัน

And the next sentence says,

และประโยคถัดไปพูดว่า

‘You need to study English every day.’

'คุณต้องเรียนภาษาอังกฤษทุกวัน'

Just like the first sentence,

เช่นเดียวกับประโยคแรก

this is saying you need to study English every day of the week.

นี่เป็นการบอกว่าคุณต้องเรียนภาษาอังกฤษทุกวันในสัปดาห์

Now, let's do a checkup.

เอาล่ะ มาตรวจสุขภาพกันดีกว่า

In this conversation, there are two sentences.

ในการสนทนานี้มีสองประโยค

In one of the sentences, we should use the two words’ every day’.

ในประโยคหนึ่ง เราควรใช้สองคำนี้ว่า ' every day '

In the other sentence, we should use the one word ‘everyday’.

อีกนัยหนึ่ง เราควรใช้คำเดียวว่า 'ทุกวัน'

Take a moment to think about where we use these words.

ใช้เวลาสักครู่เพื่อพิจารณาว่าเราใช้คำเหล่านี้ที่ไหน

‘A’ says, ‘Are you busy _blank_?’

'A' พูดว่า 'คุณยุ่งไหม _blank_?'

‘A’ is asking if ‘B’ is busy every day of the week.

'A' ถามว่า 'B' ยุ่งทุกวันในสัปดาห์หรือไม่

And so we use the two words ‘every day’.

ดังนั้นเราจึงใช้สองคำว่า 'ทุกวัน'

‘B’ says, ‘Yes, my _blank_ life is very busy.’

'B' พูดว่า 'ใช่ ชีวิต _blank_ ของฉันยุ่งมาก'

We need to find an adjective to describe B's life.

เราต้องหาคำคุณศัพท์เพื่ออธิบายชีวิตของบี

Something that means common or usual,

so we need to use the one word ‘everyday’.

Let's look at it again.

A: Are you busy every day?

B: Yes, my everyday life is very busy.

Now you know the difference between ‘every day’ and ‘everyday’.
