In this video, I’m going to talk about the two similar and sometimes confusing English words

These two words are commonly confused in English

Let’s get started.

Let’s start with ‘everyday’.

まずは「日常」から始めましょう。

It's one word and it's an adjective.

それは一つの単語であり、形容詞です。

It means something that is commonplace or usual.

当たり前のこと、当たり前のことという意味です。

It's something that's suitable to be used on ordinary days.

普段使いにぴったりなアイテムです。

Let’s look at some examples.

いくつかの例を見てみましょう。

The first sentence says,

最初の文は

‘Since we're just walking around town, I think I’ll wear my everyday shoes.’

「街を歩くだけなので、普段使いの靴を履こうと思います。」とあります。

In this case, the word ‘everyday’ is used to describe these shoes.

この場合、この靴を表すのに「日常」という言葉が使われています。

Here it means these are my usual shoes - you know shoes I wear on a normal day.

これは、これが私のいつもの靴であることを意味します。ご存知のように、私が普段履いている靴です。

The next sentence says,

次の文には

‘The worries of everyday life can drag you down.’

「日常生活の悩みがあなたを引きずってしまうことがあります。」とあります。

Here ‘everyday’ is used to describe worries.

ここで「毎日」は心配事を表すために使われています。

What kind of worries?

どのような心配ですか？

Common worries.

よくある悩み。

Worries that are usual for many people.

多くの人にとって日常的な悩み。

Now, I will talk about ‘every day’.

今回は「日常」についてお話します。

These are two words.

これは 2 つの単語です。

It is an adverbial phrase about time.

時間についての副詞句です。

It means each day or daily.

毎日、または毎日という意味です。

Let’s look at some examples.

いくつかの例を見てみましょう。

The first sentence says,

最初の文は、

‘I need to start going to the gym every day.’

「毎日ジムに通い始めなければなりません」と述べています。

Here, it means Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday all the way up till Sunday

ここでは、月曜日、火曜日、水曜日、木曜日から日曜日まで

- every single day.

、毎日を意味します。

And the next sentence says,

そして次の文には

‘You need to study English every day.’

「毎日英語を勉強する必要がある」と書かれています。

Just like the first sentence,

最初の文と同じように、

this is saying you need to study English every day of the week.

これは毎日英語を勉強する必要があると言っています。

Now, let's do a checkup.

では、検査をしてみましょう。

In this conversation, there are two sentences.

この会話には 2 つの文があります。

In one of the sentences, we should use the two words’ every day’.

文の 1 つでは、「毎日」という 2 つの単語を使用する必要があります。

In the other sentence, we should use the one word ‘everyday’.

他の文では、「毎日」という 1 つの単語を使用する必要があります。

Take a moment to think about where we use these words.

これらの言葉がどこで使われるのか、少し考えてみましょう。

‘A’ says, ‘Are you busy _blank_?’

「A」は「忙しい_空白_ですか?」と言いました。

‘A’ is asking if ‘B’ is busy every day of the week.

「A」は、「B」が曜日ごとに忙しいかどうかを尋ねています。

And so we use the two words ‘every day’.

そこで私たちは「毎日」という 2 つの単語を使います。

‘B’ says, ‘Yes, my _blank_ life is very busy.’

「B」は、「はい、私の空白の生活はとても忙しいです。」と言いました。

We need to find an adjective to describe B's life.

B の人生を説明する形容詞を見つける必要があります。

Something that means common or usual,

一般的な、または通常のことを意味するもの

so we need to use the one word ‘everyday’.

なので、「毎日」という 1 つの単語を使用する必要があります。

Let's look at it again.

もう一度見てみましょう。

A: Are you busy every day?

A: 毎日忙しいですか?

B: Yes, my everyday life is very busy.

B: はい、私の日常生活はとても忙しいです。

Now you know the difference between ‘every day’ and ‘everyday’.

これで、「毎日」と「毎日」の違いがわかりました。
