In this video, I’m going to talk about the two similar and sometimes confusing English words

‘every day’ and ‘everyday’.

'প্রতিদিন' এবং 'প্রতিদিন' সম্পর্কে কথা বলতে যাচ্ছি

These two words are commonly confused in English

। এই দুটি শব্দ সাধারণত ইংরেজিতে

especially in writing,

বিশেষ করে লেখার ক্ষেত্রে বিভ্রান্ত হয়,

but after watching this video,

you will have a better understanding of the difference and when to use these words.

Let’s get started.

Let’s start with ‘everyday’.

'প্রতিদিন' দিয়ে শুরু করা যাক।

It's one word and it's an adjective.

এটি একটি শব্দ এবং এটি একটি বিশেষণ।

It means something that is commonplace or usual.

এর অর্থ এমন কিছু যা সাধারণ বা স্বাভাবিক।

It's something that's suitable to be used on ordinary days.

এটি এমন কিছু যা সাধারণ দিনে ব্যবহার করার জন্য উপযুক্ত।

Let’s look at some examples.

আসুন কিছু উদাহরণ দেখি।

The first sentence says,

প্রথম বাক্যটি বলে,

‘Since we're just walking around town, I think I’ll wear my everyday shoes.’

'যেহেতু আমরা শুধু শহরের চারপাশে হাঁটছি, আমি মনে করি আমি আমার প্রতিদিনের জুতা পরব।'

In this case, the word ‘everyday’ is used to describe these shoes.

এই ক্ষেত্রে, এই জুতা বর্ণনা করতে 'প্রতিদিন' শব্দটি ব্যবহার করা হয়।

Here it means these are my usual shoes - you know shoes I wear on a normal day.

এখানে এর মানে হল এইগুলি আমার সাধারণ জুতা - আপনি জানেন যে জুতা আমি একটি সাধারণ দিনে পরি।

The next sentence says,

পরের বাক্যটি বলে,

‘The worries of everyday life can drag you down.’

'দৈনন্দিন জীবনের উদ্বেগ আপনাকে টেনে নিয়ে যেতে পারে।'

Here ‘everyday’ is used to describe worries.

এখানে 'প্রতিদিন' উদ্বেগ বর্ণনা করতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

What kind of worries?

কি ধরনের উদ্বেগ?

Common worries.

সাধারণ উদ্বেগ।

Worries that are usual for many people.

উদ্বেগ যা অনেক মানুষের জন্য স্বাভাবিক।

Now, I will talk about ‘every day’.

এখন, আমি 'প্রতিদিন' সম্পর্কে কথা বলব।

These are two words.

এই দুটি শব্দ.

It is an adverbial phrase about time.

এটি সময় সম্পর্কে একটি ক্রিয়ামূলক বাক্যাংশ।

It means each day or daily.

এর অর্থ প্রতিদিন বা প্রতিদিন।

Let’s look at some examples.

আসুন কিছু উদাহরণ দেখি।

The first sentence says,

প্রথম বাক্যটি বলে,

‘I need to start going to the gym every day.’

'আমার প্রতিদিন জিমে যাওয়া শুরু করা দরকার।'

Here, it means Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday all the way up till Sunday

এখানে, এর অর্থ হল সোমবার, মঙ্গলবার, বুধবার, বৃহস্পতিবার পর্যন্ত রবিবার পর্যন্ত

- every single day.

- প্রতি এক দিন।

And the next sentence says,

এবং পরের বাক্যটি বলে,

‘You need to study English every day.’

'আপনাকে প্রতিদিন ইংরেজি অধ্যয়ন করতে হবে।'

Just like the first sentence,

প্রথম বাক্যটির মতোই,

this is saying you need to study English every day of the week.

এটি বলছে যে আপনাকে সপ্তাহের প্রতিদিন ইংরেজি অধ্যয়ন করতে হবে।

Now, let's do a checkup.

এখন, একটি চেকআপ করা যাক.

In this conversation, there are two sentences.

এই কথোপকথনে, দুটি বাক্য আছে।

In one of the sentences, we should use the two words’ every day’.

একটি বাক্যে, আমাদের 'প্রতিদিন' দুটি শব্দ ব্যবহার করা উচিত।

In the other sentence, we should use the one word ‘everyday’.

অন্য বাক্যে, আমাদের 'প্রতিদিন' একটি শব্দ ব্যবহার করা উচিত।

Take a moment to think about where we use these words.

আমরা এই শব্দগুলি কোথায় ব্যবহার করি সে সম্পর্কে একটু চিন্তা করুন।

‘A’ says, ‘Are you busy _blank_?’

'ক' বলে, 'তুমি কি ব্যস্ত_খালি_?'

‘A’ is asking if ‘B’ is busy every day of the week.

'ক' জিজ্ঞাসা করছে 'বি' সপ্তাহের প্রতিটি দিন ব্যস্ত কিনা।

And so we use the two words ‘every day’.

আর তাই আমরা 'প্রতিদিন' শব্দ দুটি ব্যবহার করি।

‘B’ says, ‘Yes, my _blank_ life is very busy.’

'বি' বলে, 'হ্যাঁ, আমার_খালি_জীবন খুব ব্যস্ত।'

We need to find an adjective to describe B's life.

B এর জীবন বর্ণনা করার জন্য আমাদের একটি বিশেষণ খুঁজে বের করতে হবে।

Something that means common or usual,

এমন কিছু যার অর্থ সাধারণ বা স্বাভাবিক,

so we need to use the one word ‘everyday’.

তাই আমাদের একটি শব্দ 'প্রতিদিন' ব্যবহার করতে হবে।

Let's look at it again.

এর আবার তাকান.

A: Are you busy every day?

উত্তর: আপনি কি প্রতিদিন ব্যস্ত?

B: Yes, my everyday life is very busy.

বি: হ্যাঁ, আমার দৈনন্দিন জীবন খুব ব্যস্ত।

Now you know the difference between ‘every day’ and ‘everyday’.

এখন আপনি 'প্রতিদিন' এবং 'প্রতিদিন' এর মধ্যে পার্থক্য জানেন।

Be sure to use them correctly.
