Now it's very simple but it's very confusing, because they both sound the same.

‘who’s’ ‘who + apostrophe + s’ is the contraction

'who's'

'who + apostrophe + s' হল 'to be' ক্রিয়ার সংকোচন।

of the verb ‘to be’. So it's actually ‘who is’.

তাই এটা আসলে 'কে হয়'.

If I say, ‘who's on the phone?’, it’s ‘who is on the phone’.

আমি যদি বলি, 'ফোনে কে আছে?',

তাহলে 'কে ফোনে আছে'।

‘whose’ in one word ‘whose’ is the possessive.

'whose' এক কথায় 'whose' হল possessive.

মানে এটা কার অন্তর্গত।

It means who does it belong to. For example, ‘whose bag is this?’ meaning

যেমন, 'এটা কার ব্যাগ?'

‘who does this bag belong to?’ And you can say, ‘It's my bag.’

মানে 'এই ব্যাগটি কার?'

এবং আপনি বলতে পারেন, 'এটা আমার ব্যাগ।'

‘It's your bag.’ It's a possessive.

'এটা তোমার ব্যাগ।'

এটি একটি অধিকারী.

If you really don't know just try and replace the ‘s’ or ‘se’ with the verb to be.

And see if it works. If it works, then it's the contraction of

‘Who is calling?’ Now a second example, well, Let's take our

এখন একটি দ্বিতীয় উদাহরণ,

ভাল, আসুন আমাদের প্রথম উদাহরণ নেওয়া যাক।

very first example. ‘Whose mother is this?’

'এটা কার মা?'

Which one is it? Is it the verb ‘to be’?

এটা কোনটা?

এটা কি 'হতে' ক্রিয়া? নাকি এটা অধিকারী?

Or Is it the possessive? Can you say ‘Who is mother is this?’

তুমি কি বলতে পারো 'মা ইনি কে?'

No. You can't. It's incorrect.

না। তুমি পারবে না।

এটা ভুল।

It's the possessive. ‘Whose mother is this?’

এটা অধিকারী.

'এটা কার মা?'

এটা আমার মা. এটা তোমার মা.

It's my mother. It's your mother.

It's his mother. Okay? Now one final example.

এটা তার মা.

ঠিক আছে? এখন একটি চূড়ান্ত উদাহরণ।

‘Who's in the house?’ Come on, guys.

'ঘরে কে কে আছে?'

চল সবাই. এটা কোনটা?

Which one is it? Is it the verb ‘to be’ or is it the possessive?

এটি কি 'হতে' ক্রিয়া বা এটি অধিকারী?

It's obviously the verb ‘to be’. You can say ‘Who is in the house?’

এটা স্পষ্টতই 'হতে' ক্রিয়া।

বলতে পারেন 'ঘরে কে আছে?' ঠিক আছে?
