USED TO vs BE USED TO Difference | Learn the English Vocabulary Grammar and Meaning

In this video, I’m going to talk about the two similar and sometimes confusing English expressions

These expressions can be confusing,

Let’s start with ‘used to’.

'used to' తో ప్రారంభిద్దాం.

Its form is ‘used to’ + the infinitive.

It's used as a verb.

ఇది క్రియగా ఉపయోగించబడుతుంది.

'used to' expresses that an activity was a past habit.

It was a regular occurrence at an earlier stage of life

but not anymore.

Let’s look at some examples.

The first sentence says, ‘I used to drink green tea.’

However, because it says ‘used to’ it means not anymore.

It used to be a regular thing in the past

and that's why we used ‘used to’.

Now, I’ll move on to ‘be used to’.

Its form is ‘be’ or ‘get used to’.

It means that you are accustomed to something.

You don't find it unusual. It's familiar to you.

Let’s look at some examples.

The first sentence says,

In this example, we're using ‘get used to’.

I’m becoming familiar with working at night.

Maybe it's because I’ve been working at night for a long time.

The next sentence says,

తదుపరి వాక్యం,

‘She's used to the heat in the summer.’

'ఆమె వేసవిలో వేడికి అలవాటు పడింది.'

Here, we use the ‘be’ verb ‘she is’.

ఇక్కడ, మనం 'be' verb 'she is' ఉపయోగిస్తాము.

‘She's used to the heat in the summer.’

'ఆమె వేసవిలో వేడికి అలవాటు పడింది.'

She's accustomed to it.

ఆమెకు అది అలవాటైపోయింది.

Maybe it's because she lived in a hot place when she was young.

ఆమె చిన్నతనంలో వేడి ప్రదేశంలో నివసించడం వల్ల కావచ్చు.

Now, let's move on to a checkup.

ఇప్పుడు, చెకప్‌కి వెళ్దాం.

In this conversation, there are two sentences.

ఈ సంభాషణలో రెండు వాక్యాలున్నాయి.

In one of the sentences, we use ‘used to’.

వాక్యాలలో ఒకదానిలో, మేము 'used to' ఉపయోగిస్తాము.

In the other sentence, we need to use ‘be’ or ‘get used to’.

మరొక వాక్యంలో, మనం 'బి' లేదా 'అలవాటుగా' ఉపయోగించాలి.

Take a moment to think about where we use these expressions.

‘A’ says, ‘I _blank_ have a better work schedule.’
