I’m going to teach you eight basic contractions

နာမ်စားနှင့် 'be' ကြိယာပေါင်းစပ်ထားသော

combining pronouns and the ‘be’ verb.

Now, it's important to memorize these contractions.

Pronouncing these contractions correctly in English

will help you sound like a native speaker.

Okay,

here's my list of eight common contractions

နာမ်စားနှင့် 'be' ကြိယာများကို အသုံးပြုထားသော

using pronouns and ‘be’ verbs.

ဘုံကျုံ့ခြင်း ရှစ်ခု၏ စာရင်း

I will say each example two times.

။ ဥပမာတစ်ခုစီကို နှစ်ခါပြောမယ်။

The first time, I will say it slowly.

The second time,

I will say it at a normal speed

Native Speaker လိုမျိုး

like a native speaker.

သာမန်အမြန်နှုန်းနဲ့ ပြောပါမယ်

It's really important that you repeat along after me,

။ ငါ့နောက်မှာ မင်းထပ်ပြောဖို့က အရမ်းအရေးကြီးတာ

so don't be shy.

မို့ မရှက်ပါနဲ့။

And repeat after each example.

ဥပမာတစ်ခုစီပြီးရင် ပြန်လုပ်ပါ။

Okay

First example, ‘I am’ goes to ‘I’m’.

ပထမ ဥပမာ၊ 'I am' 'I'm' သို့သွားသည် ။

‘I’m waiting for my friend.’ 

'သူငယ်ချင်းကို စောင့်နေတယ်'

Okay, one more time.

ကောင်းပြီ၊ နောက်တစ်ကြိမ်။

I’m waiting for my friend.

ငါ့သူငယ်ချင်းကို ငါစောင့်နေတယ်။

Next,

နောက်တစ်ခုက

‘he is’ - ‘he's’‘

'သူ' - 'သူ' '

He's walking home.’

သူ' အိမ်ပြန်လမ်းလျှောက်နေတယ်။

Again, ‘he's walking home’.

တစ်ဖန် 'သူ အိမ်ပြန်ပြီ'။

‘she is’ – ‘she's’.

'သူမ' - 'သူမ'။

‘She's reading a book.’

'သူမ စာအုပ်ဖတ်နေတယ်'

And again. ‘She's reading a book’.

နောက်တဖန်။ 'သူမ စာအုပ်ဖတ်နေတယ်'

The next one, ‘It is’ = ‘it's’.

နောက်တစ်ခုက 'အဲဒါ' = 'အဲဒါ'။

‘It's a nice day.’

'ကောင်းတဲ့နေ့တစ်နေ့ပါပဲ။'

And again, ‘It's a nice day’. 

နောက်တစ်ခုက 'ဒါဟာ သာယာတဲ့နေ့ပါ'။

Next one, ‘You are’ = ‘you're’.

နောက်တစ်ခုက 'You are' = 'မင်း'။

‘You're a nice person.’

'မင်းက တော်တဲ့လူပဲ။'

And again, ‘You're a nice person’. 

နောက်တစ်ခုက 'မင်းက လူကောင်းတစ်ယောက်ပါ'။

‘we are’ = ‘we're’.

'ငါတို့' = 'ငါတို့'။

‘We're ready for the test.’

'ကျွန်တော်တို့ စာမေးပွဲအတွက် အဆင်သင့်ဖြစ်နေပါပြီ။'

‘We're ready for the test.’ 

'ကျွန်တော်တို့ စာမေးပွဲအတွက် အဆင်သင့်ဖြစ်နေပါပြီ။'

Next one, ‘they are’ = ‘they’re’.

နောက်တစ်ခုက 'သူတို့' = 'သူတို့'။

‘They're very happy.’

'သူတို့ အရမ်းပျော်တယ်။'

‘They're very happy.’ 

'သူတို့ အရမ်းပျော်တယ်။'

The last one, ‘Lynn is’ = ‘Lynn’s’.

နောက်ဆုံးတစ်ခု၊ 'Lynn' = 'Lyn's'။

‘Lynn's teaching English.’

Lynn က အင်္ဂလိပ်စာ သင်နေတာ။

‘Lynn's teaching English.’

Which words can be changed into contractions?

Yes these ones.

ဟုတ်တယ် အဲဒါတွေ။

“I’m going to work.”

"ငါအလုပ်သွားတော့မယ်။"

“You're late.”

"မင်းနောက်ကျတယ်။"

“No. It's still early.”

“မဟုတ်ဘူး စောနေသေးတယ်။”

Julie says: “His girlfriend is Sarah. Sarah is a nice girl.” 

Julie က “သူ့ရည်းစားက Sarah ပါ။ Sarah က ချစ်စရာကောင်းတဲ့ မိန်းကလေးပါ။”

Tim says: “They are a nice couple.’

Tim က ဤသို့ဆိုသည်– “သူတို့က ချစ်စရာကောင်းတဲ့ စုံတွဲတွေပါ။'

Which words can be made into contractions?

Yes, these ones.

“I like Steve. He's a nice guy.”

Sally says: “Yes, he is.”

ဆယ်လီက “ဟုတ်တယ်၊ သူက။”

Which of these words can be changed into contractions?

Right. None of them.

As you can see, ‘I am’ and ‘he is’

သင်တွေ့မြင်ရသည့်အတိုင်း 'ငါ' နှင့် 'သူ' သည်

cannot be used as contractions

at the end of a sentence.
