but today I was thinking that we spend our whole time correcting your mistakes

ところで　今日しようと考えていたのは

いつも私たちは

英語を勉強している人の間違いを正しているよね

when you're learning English so I thought it'd be quite funny to tell you

なので　面白いかもと思ったのが

about times that we have made mistakes in our own language yeah so we each got

学校に戻った時に先生たちが

- そして　後で皆んな知ったんだけど

それで　Osteoporosis (骨粗しょう症) って 言葉を憶えてたの

近所の人から聞いたりしたんだと思う

- 今の話は良かったね

- 間違えて憶えてたのね

- 今も間違えているんでしょ

slight misunderstanding it's like a fully different word and

- 少しの間違いって言うよりも

全く違う言葉と意味だよね

meaning I thought you're gonna say impotence say that you went back to

"Impotence" と 言い間違えるのかと思ってた

- 私はこう言うのかと

学校に戻った時に

皆んなに "Tiger (トラ) だった" って

Impetigo だったって Tiger みたいでしょ

それで "こっちに恐ろしい列車が来る" って

coming get it what I can I just didn't know

その時は Freight 列車が 何かを知らなかったの

what a freak oh really quickly yeah what is a freight train it's like a train

- 未だに同じ事をするわ

それでね　いつも勘違いする 単語があるんだけど

今も本当に何か正確に 分からないんだけど

it means it's the word dozen like a dozen eggs how many is it six or is it

それは　Dozen

例えば Dozen の卵って

いくつなの...

6個もしくは12個？

twelve I can never remember yeah but wider so why do don't people

いつも憶えられないんだ

- 12個だよ

- でも　なんで...

皆んな単純に

just say I've got 12 eggs I've got a dozen eggs it doesn't make any sense and

"12個の卵" って言わないの？

- 確かにね

- Dozen の卵って

全然意味わからないよ

- 確かに　例えば "A few (いくつか)" とかも

いくつかって正確にいくつだろう？

- 本当に　いくつなんだろうね？

- めんどくさいね

when you say just few it means like very little but you think a few it means if I

それでいて "Just a few" だと

"ほんの少し" って意味だけど

"A few" だと

"いくつかの" って意味になるし

皆さんごめんなさい 私たちの言語がひどくて

- 分からない人がここにも！

- 違う違う　14日でしょ

それって15日のことかな　それとも14夜？

- 分からないよ

この "Dozen" と "Fortnight" って

doesn't and for tonight I'm like just use the actual numbers use the numbers

単に数字を使えば いいと思うんだけど

so I bet half a dozen throws you yes what's that me exactly three six I have

- Half (半) a dozen とか余計に こんがらがると思うわ...

- 確かに　それってどういうこと？

- Half a dozen　確かにね

- 6だよ

a way to remember it in Spanish yeah nothing it's 12 so it's like a dolphin

- 私の憶え方だったら

スペイン語で "Doce" が12だから

"Dothen" みたいな感じで合わせて

- いいアイデアね

スーパーとかで買い物中に

- それって昨日の

バーのテーブル席のことなんだけど

皆んなが Booth って言ってた時

私は Booze (酒) って言ってると 勘違いしてたの

少し滑舌が悪い感じで

2つ目のエピソードは？

so he said send me a picture of the sink is like water and I opened and I saw and

そしたら彼から "流しの下のトラップの 写真を送って欲しい" ってきて

トラップって水道管の意味だったんだけど

とりあえず流しの下を開けたら ネズミ用トラップがあって

I was like I didn't understand the word exactly and it was like so no okay so I

"どうして彼がそんなこと 知ってるの？" って

(笑い)

ネズミ用トラップが 私の家の流しの下にあるってことを

その時は全く知らなかったの

そのトラップが何かなんて

- 配管工じゃないしね

- そうでしょ

だから　"とっても不気味" って思ってて

そのネズミ用トラップには 大きいチーズも乗ってたんだけど

なので私は写真を...

彼が "トラップの写真を送って" って言ってた通り

そのネズミ用トラップの写真を撮って

その彼に送ったの

そしたら彼から

"違うよ　水道管のことだよ！"って

(笑い)

その時のスクリーンショットがあるから

画面に載せとくね

かなり恥ずかしかったわ

- とっても面白いね

- 何故だろうって　メッセージを 何度も見返したりして？

- そう

- 今のはとっても良かったね

- 本当にその時は

とっても疑い深くなって

"一体どうして知ってるの？" みたいな

何故にネズミ用トラップの事が 知りたいの？って

彼にはそう聞かなかったけどね

"ほら　ネズミなんかいないわよ"

だから私の家に来て

食洗機取り付けてちょうだいってね

- いいね

- 素晴らしいね

それじゃあ　えっと

actually we were talking about this a moment ago I still can't get left and

2人にこの事は話したばかりなんだけど

私　未だにどちらが左か右か はっきり分からなくて

right without nothing to do with the words left and right when I was doing my

左と右って言葉では頭に入ってこないの...

車の免許の試験の時とかは

driving test I had to write L on that led to small

and AH here and to ask the examiner to just stipulate

で　R (右) ってここに書いて

試験官にも手で方向を 教えてってお願いして

they're just like me you can ask them you can say look I really

when you say left and right it just doesn't do anything in my brain so can

こんな感じでお願いして

"左と右と言葉で言われても、、

、、頭に全く入ってこないんです、、

、、なのでこんな感じで 左ってしてくれますか？" って

you just go turn left so I could see her hands and I was like

そうすれば　手を見て理解できるから

thank you thank you as well because they were saying you know just whatever makes

本当にありがたかったわ

- それ私も助かるわ

私も同じようにとても悩むの

こうして L (左) って左手で作って

an L that's left and I'd be like cool

そしたら　その手が左手って言うけど

こうしたら　"どっちも L (左) じゃない！"

(笑い)

yeah it happens all the time with Lea when we're going and I'm not okay we'll

- そうだね　Lia はいつもそれで悩んでて

一緒に出掛けた時も

just turn right and she'll be like just take the moment I think that people must

"右に曲がって" って言ったら

Lia はこんな感じで戸惑って...

少し時間が必要だったね

- 皆んな私のことを絶対かなりの

think I'm really dumb but on paper I'm really smart other one really quickly is

おばかだと思っているはずだけど

筆記においては　とっても抜群なのよ

ただ　言葉での左と右の区別がつかないの

- それって　大体いつも おばかさんが言うことよね

(笑い)

- "筆記ではとっても賢いのよ" って

- "筆記では" ね

でね　もう１つの話も早めにするね

I can't get that say the first word again

全然分からないわ

- 確かに　２つとも似てるよね

can imagine that being confusing for a learner

英語学習者にとって間違えやすいかも

私　学習者じゃないけどね

(笑い)

- 学習者じゃないだって

- 私　ここで生まれたのよ

I'm sure there's so many more by just calm yeah bring myself to that's the

- もっとたくさんあると思うけど

thing you shouldn't ever worry if you're making mistakes when this is a second

第２言語として勉強している人はね

get stuff wrong I would say just use your mistakes as funny anecdotes which
