I think I'll make a simple pasta with a tomato sauce and

some garlic bread on the side.

So you'll notice as I'm talking the numbers at the top of the screen here

are going up and if I click on it you'll see that what's happening is as we're

talking the system is recording both my active vocabulary, so the vocabulary

I've actually used, as well as my passive vocabulary, so the vocabulary I'm hearing.

And I can, if I want to, export the entire thing as a CSV file, which is very

useful if you like to organize yourself.

You can also go on to the individual words and play them to remind

yourself of how they sound.

And you can get a translation into your language as well if you need it.

Okay, so I've got her speaking very slowly to help me here.

But I can speed it up if I want to have a more natural conversation.

So I'm not sure here exactly what, comment tu vas.

means.

So what I can do is highlight that phrase and it will tell me what the phrase means.

So that's just a different way of saying, how are you?

So I'm going to highlight this.

Um, because what happens is something very special happens.

What happens is when I highlight what separate words or phrases

like that, it starts to record.

Them and keep them in a little, in a little file for me.

But those who need to just keep practicing, it's not really recommended

for complete beginners, but it is possible to learn a language from scratch using

I recently became the first person ever, as far as I can tell, to learn

to speak a language from scratch, solely by practicing with AI.

And then I went and tested myself with total strangers to

see how much I actually learned.

And for this challenge, I didn't study from any resources other than Teacher AI.

No textbooks, no grammar resources, no courses, and no human skills.

So I essentially needed to learn 100 percent of everything I needed

to know exclusively from AI.

I wrote all the words and phrases I learned into a Google Doc

that would eventually come to encompass 10 pages of notes.

But over the next 11 days, we went through an absolute whirlwind of Portuguese.

This is my actual time stamped message log pulled from a database query,

showing the hundreds of messages I exchanged with AI over that time.

So within a few days, I switched to monolingual Portuguese and

we did conversational roleplay on relevant real life topics.

I pretend to be ordering.

So let's just see what it's like if you do go into a completely different language

that you've no foundation in whatsoever.

So I'm going to go and do some Arabic.

Speak in English and tell me how I say hello in Arabic.

To say hello in Arabic, you can say marhaba.

Marhaba.

Yes, marhaba is pronounced as marhaba.

You got it right.

To say, how are you?

In Arabic, you say, kayfahaluk.

For speaking to a male and

for speaking to a female.

So to finish up, I'm gonna come back to Anna and have a

bit of a casual fast chitchat.

I burnt the porridge this morning and I can't seem to get the, the

porridge off the bottom of the pan.

It's just burnt.

Do you have any suggestions for cleaning a burnt pan?

Oh no, that's a pain.

For a burnt pan, try soaking it in hot water with some dish soap

for a few hours or overnight.

You can also boil water in it with a bit of baking soda.

After, use a wooden spoon or a spatula to gently scrape off the burnt bits.

Does that sound like something you can try?

Yeah, I don't have a spatula though, but I might be able to dig out a wooden spoon.

A wooden spoon should work fine.

Anna, can we change the subject to relationships, please?

Uh, do you have a boyfriend?

Sure, well let's just say my heart is currently open to adventures.

Uh, by seeing someone, do you mean dating?

As long as everyone involved knows and is OK with it, then

it's really up to you and them.

You could say you're in a stable, committed, or long term relationship.

So I could go on forever.
