We need an article and an adjective to describe the umbrella.

ਛਤਰੀ ਦਾ ਵਰਣਨ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਲੇਖ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ਣ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੈ।

Now we need an article.

And the correct article is ‘a’.

ਅਤੇ ਸਹੀ ਲੇਖ 'ਅ' ਹੈ।

“It’s a black umbrella.”

We need an article.

ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਲੇਖ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੈ.

Should we use ‘a’ or ‘an’?

ਕੀ ਸਾਨੂੰ 'a' ਜਾਂ 'an' ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ?

Well, ‘ugly’ starts with the vowel ‘u’, so we have to say ‘an’.

ਖੈਰ, 'ਉ' ਸ੍ਵਰ 'ਉ' ਨਾਲ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਸਾਨੂੰ 'ਐਨ' ਕਹਿਣਾ ਪਵੇਗਾ।

“It’s an ugly ant.”

"ਇਹ ਇੱਕ ਬਦਸੂਰਤ ਕੀੜੀ ਹੈ।"

Next.

ਅਗਲਾ.

We have the noun ‘car’.

So, we put that at the end.

Again, let’s use an adjective that describes the color.

So, we need the article.

We need to use the preposition ‘on’.

Let’s move on.

ਚਲੋ ਅੱਗੇ ਵਧਦੇ ਹਾਂ।

“What are they?”

"ਉਹ ਕੀ ਹਨ?"

“They’re ____ oranges.”

"ਉਹ ____ ਸੰਤਰੇ ਹਨ।"

Okay.

ਠੀਕ ਹੈ।

We have more than one.

ਸਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਇੱਕ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਹਨ।

That’s why we said, “They are…they’re” and “oranges” …with an ‘s’.

ਇਸ ਲਈ ਅਸੀਂ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਉਹ…ਉਹ ਹਨ” ਅਤੇ “ਸੰਤਰੀ” …ਇੱਕ 's' ਨਾਲ।

Can we use ‘the’?

No, you don’t know what oranges I’m talking about because it’s the first time I said

anything about them.

Then, can I use ‘a’ or ‘an’?

ਫਿਰ, ਕੀ ਮੈਂ 'a' ਜਾਂ 'an' ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ?

No, ‘a’ or ‘an’ is used for any one thing.

ਨਹੀਂ, 'a' ਜਾਂ 'an' ਕਿਸੇ ਇਕ ਚੀਜ਼ ਲਈ ਵਰਤਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

So here we do not need any article.

ਇਸ ਲਈ ਇੱਥੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਲੇਖ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।

“They’re oranges.”

“ਉਹ ਸੰਤਰੇ ਹਨ।”

“What are they?”

"ਉਹ ਕੀ ਹਨ?"

“They’re oranges.”

“ਉਹ ਸੰਤਰੇ ਹਨ।”

Okay.

ਠੀਕ ਹੈ।

“Where __ __ oranges?”

"ਕਿੱਥੇ __ ਸੰਤਰੇ?"

Okay.

ਠੀਕ ਹੈ।

Now, again, you know I’m talking about these specific oranges, so we use ‘the’.

ਹੁਣ, ਦੁਬਾਰਾ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਖਾਸ ਸੰਤਰਿਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਅਸੀਂ 'the' ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ।

ਉਹ 'ਚਾਲੂ' ਨਹੀਂ ਹਨ, "ਉਹ ਕੁਰਸੀ ਦੇ ਹੇਠਾਂ' ਹਨ।"

Okay, let’s move on to the last part.

Can you find the mistake?

ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਗਲਤੀ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦੇ ਹੋ?

Okay.

Remember, the adjective ‘blue’ has to go between the article and the noun.

ਠੀਕ ਹੈ।

ਯਾਦ ਰੱਖੋ, ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ਣ 'ਨੀਲਾ' ਨੂੰ ਲੇਖ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਂਵ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਜਾਣਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

So, we have to move the article to the front.

ਇਸ ਲਈ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਲੇਖ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗੇ ਲਿਜਾਣਾ ਪਵੇਗਾ.

“It’s a blue snake.”

“ਇਹ ਨੀਲਾ ਸੱਪ ਹੈ।”

That is the correct answer.

ਇਹ ਸਹੀ ਜਵਾਬ ਹੈ।

“It’s a blue snake.”

“ਇਹ ਨੀਲਾ ਸੱਪ ਹੈ।”

Okay, the next one.

“The snake under the box.”

"ਬਾਕਸ ਦੇ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਸੱਪ।"

It sounds right.

ਇਹ ਸਹੀ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ.

“The snake under the box.”,

"ਬਾਕਸ ਦੇ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਸੱਪ.",

but we forgot the ‘be’ verb.

ਪਰ ਅਸੀਂ 'ਹੋ' ਕਿਰਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਭੁੱਲ ਗਏ।

“The snake is under the box.”

“ਸੱਪ ਡੱਬੇ ਦੇ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਹੈ।”

Okay, let’s move on to the next story.

ਠੀਕ ਹੈ, ਚਲੋ ਅਗਲੀ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਵੱਲ ਵਧਦੇ ਹਾਂ।

“It’s a octopus.”

"ਇਹ ਇੱਕ ਆਕਟੋਪਸ ਹੈ।"

Okay, we have an article, but octopus starts with the vowel ‘o’.

ਠੀਕ ਹੈ, ਸਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਇੱਕ ਲੇਖ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਓਕਟੋਪਸ ਸਵਰ 'ਓ' ਨਾਲ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

So, we have to use ‘an’.

ਇਸ ਲਈ, ਸਾਨੂੰ 'ਐਨ' ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਨੀ ਪਵੇਗੀ।

“It’s an octopus.”

"ਇਹ ਇੱਕ ਆਕਟੋਪਸ ਹੈ।"

“An octopus is big.”

"ਇੱਕ ਆਕਟੋਪਸ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।"

Hmmm…

ਹਮਮ...

This one’s a little bit hard.

ਇਹ ਥੋੜਾ ਔਖਾ ਹੈ।

But remember, we’re talking about the same octopus.

ਪਰ ਯਾਦ ਰੱਖੋ, ਅਸੀਂ ਉਸੇ ਆਕਟੋਪਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ।

So now, this octopus is specific.

ਇਸ ਲਈ ਹੁਣ, ਇਹ ਆਕਟੋਪਸ ਖਾਸ ਹੈ।

So, we have to change the article ‘an’ to ‘the’.

ਇਸ ਲਈ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਲੇਖ 'an' ਨੂੰ 'the' ਵਿੱਚ ਬਦਲਣਾ ਪਵੇਗਾ।

“The octopus is big.”

"ਆਕਟੋਪਸ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੈ।"

The octopus from the first sentence.

ਪਹਿਲੇ ਵਾਕ ਤੋਂ ਓਕਟੋਪਸ।

Last, “The octopus are under the chair.”

ਅੰਤ ਵਿੱਚ, "ਆਕਟੋਪਸ ਕੁਰਸੀ ਦੇ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਹੈ।"

What’s the mistake?

ਕੀ ਗਲਤੀ ਹੈ?

“The octopus…”

"ਆਕਟੋਪਸ..."

There’s only one.

ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇੱਕ ਹੀ ਹੈ।

So, we don’t use ‘are’, we have to say “is”.

ਇਸ ਲਈ, ਅਸੀਂ 'are' ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ, ਸਾਨੂੰ "is" ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।

“The octopus is under the chair.”

"ਆਕਟੋਪਸ ਕੁਰਸੀ ਦੇ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਹੈ।"
