This is a check-up video for articles, prepositions, and adjectives.

I’ve written some sentences on the board.

Let’s try to finish them together.

The first sentence says, “It’s __ ___umbrella.”

We have the noun.

We need an article and an adjective to describe the umbrella.

So here it is.

तर इथे आहे.

Let’s describe the color.

चला रंगाचे वर्णन करूया.

Okay.

ठीक आहे.

We would say ‘black’.

आम्ही 'काळा' म्हणू.

Remember, the adjective comes before the noun.

लक्षात ठेवा, विशेषण संज्ञाच्या आधी येते.

Now we need an article.

आता आपल्याला एक लेख हवा आहे.

And the correct article is ‘a’.

आणि योग्य लेख 'अ' आहे.

“It’s a black umbrella.”

"ही काळी छत्री आहे."

Okay.

ठीक आहे.

Next, “It’s ___ ___ ___.”

पुढे, "हे ___ ___ ___ आहे."

We have three blanks.

Here, we have the noun ‘ant’.

So, we’re going to put that at the end.

Let’s use the adjective ugly.

Remember, again, the adjective comes before the noun.

We need an article.

Should we use ‘a’ or ‘an’?

आपण 'अ' किंवा 'अन' वापरावे?

Well, ‘ugly’ starts with the vowel ‘u’, so we have to say ‘an’.

बरं, 'अग्ली' हा स्वर 'उ' ने सुरू होतो, म्हणून आपल्याला 'अन' म्हणावे लागेल.

“It’s an ugly ant.”

"ती एक कुरूप मुंगी आहे."

Next.

पुढे.

“It’s __ __ __.”

We have the noun ‘car’.

So, we put that at the end.

What article should we use?

We have to say “a”.

आपल्याला "अ" म्हणायचे आहे.

“It’s a blue car.”

"ती निळी कार आहे."

Okay, and last.

ठीक आहे, आणि शेवटचे.

“I __ ___ nice girl.”

"मी _____ छान मुलगी आहे."

That’s me.

मीच आहे.

We have the noun ‘girl’…and the adjective ‘nice’.

So, we need the article.

We’re going to say “a”.

आपण "a" म्हणणार आहोत.

Now, we’re missing one more thing.

We need the ‘be’ verb ‘am’.

आपल्याला 'be' क्रियापद 'am' आवश्यक आहे.

“I am a nice girl.”

"मी एक छान मुलगी आहे."

We need an article here.

And it’s the first time I’m talking about this, so we’re going to say “a”.

Now, you know, I’m talking about this one.

That’s why we said, “They are…they’re” and “oranges” …with an ‘s’.

Can we use ‘the’?

So here we do not need any article.

Now, again, you know I’m talking about these specific oranges, so we use ‘the’.

Okay, remember, when you ask a question with plural, you need ‘are’.

Now, we have two short stories here.

The first sentence says, “It’s snake.”

Well, we’re missing an article.

And that article is ‘a’.

Can you find the mistake?

Okay.

Remember, the adjective ‘blue’ has to go between the article and the noun.

ठीक आहे.

So, we have to move the article to the front.

“It’s a blue snake.”

That is the correct answer.

Okay, the next one.

ठीक आहे, पुढील.

“The snake under the box.”

"पेटीखालील साप."

It sounds right.

बरोबर वाटतंय.

“The snake under the box.”,

“पेटीखाली साप.”,

but we forgot the ‘be’ verb.

पण आम्ही 'be' क्रियापद विसरलो.

“The snake is under the box.”

"साप पेटीखाली आहे."

Okay, let’s move on to the next story.

“It’s a octopus.”

"तो एक ऑक्टोपस आहे."

Okay, we have an article, but octopus starts with the vowel ‘o’.

So, we have to use ‘an’.

What’s the mistake?

चूक काय?

“The octopus…”

"ऑक्टोपस..."

There’s only one.

फक्त एक आहे.

So, we don’t use ‘are’, we have to say “is”.

म्हणून, आपण 'आहे' वापरत नाही, आपल्याला "आहे" असे म्हणायचे आहे.

“The octopus is under the chair.”

"ऑक्टोपस खुर्चीखाली आहे."
