This is a check-up video for articles, prepositions, and adjectives.

I’ve written some sentences on the board.

저는 칠판에 몇 가지 문장을 썼습니다.

The first sentence says, “It’s __ ___umbrella.”

첫 번째 문장은 “It's __ ___umbrella”입니다.

Okay.

We have the noun.

우리에게는 명사가 있습니다.

We need an article and an adjective to describe the umbrella.

우산을 설명하려면 관사와 형용사가 필요합니다.

Okay.

좋아요.

So here it is.

여기 있습니다.

Let’s describe the color.

색상을 설명해보자.

Okay.

좋아요.

We would say ‘black’.

우리는 '검은색'이라고 말할 것입니다.

Remember, the adjective comes before the noun.

기억하세요, 형용사는 명사 앞에 옵니다.

Now we need an article.

이제 기사가 필요합니다.

And the correct article is ‘a’.

그리고 올바른 관사는 'a'입니다.

“It’s a black umbrella.”

“검은 우산이에요.”

Okay.

Next, “It’s ___ ___ ___.”

다음은 “___ ___ ___입니다.”

We have three blanks.

공백이 3개 있습니다.

Here, we have the noun ‘ant’.

여기에 '개미'라는 명사가 있습니다.

So, we’re going to put that at the end.

그럼, 마지막에 올리도록 하겠습니다.

Okay.

Let’s use the adjective ugly.

형용사 추악함을 사용해 봅시다.

Okay.

좋아요.

Remember, again, the adjective comes before the noun.

다시 말하지만, 형용사는 명사 앞에 옵니다.

“…ugly ant.”

“… 못생긴 개미.”

“It’s __ ugly ant.”

“그건 __못생긴 개미야.”

We need an article.

기사가 필요합니다.

Should we use ‘a’ or ‘an’?

'a'를 사용해야 할까요, 아니면 'an'을 사용해야 할까요?

Well, ‘ugly’ starts with the vowel ‘u’, so we have to say ‘an’.

음, 'ugly'는 모음 'u'로 시작하므로 'an'이라고 말해야 합니다.

“It’s an ugly ant.”

“못생긴 개미예요.”

Next.

다음.

“It’s __ __ __.”

"그것은 __ __ __."

Okay.

좋아요.

We have the noun ‘car’.

'자동차'라는 명사가 있습니다.

So, we put that at the end.

그래서 우리는 그것을 마지막에 넣었습니다.

Again, let’s use an adjective that describes the color.

이번에도 색상을 설명하는 형용사를 사용해 보겠습니다.

Let’s use ‘blue’.

'파란색'을 사용해보자.

What article should we use?

어떤 기사를 사용해야 할까요?

We have to say “a”.

우리는 "a"라고 말해야 합니다.

“It’s a blue car.”

“파란색 자동차예요.”

Okay, and last.

좋아요, 그리고 마지막입니다.

“I __ ___ nice girl.”

“나는 __ ___ 좋은 여자야.”

That’s me.

그게 나야.

We have the noun ‘girl’…and the adjective ‘nice’.

명사 '소녀'와… 형용사 '좋은'이 있습니다.

So, we need the article.

그래서 기사가 필요합니다.

We’re going to say “a”.

우리는 "a"라고 말할 것입니다.

Now, we’re missing one more thing.

이제 우리는 한 가지를 더 놓치고 있습니다.

We need the ‘be’ verb ‘am’.

'be' 동사 'am'이 필요합니다.

“I am a nice girl.”

“나는 좋은 여자예요.”

Okay, let’s move on to the next part.

좋아요, 다음 부분으로 넘어가겠습니다.

Look at it carefully.

We need an article here.

여기에 기사가 필요합니다.

And it’s the first time I’m talking about this, so we’re going to say “a”.

그리고 제가 이것에 대해 말하는 것은 이번이 처음이므로 우리는 "a"라고 말할 것입니다.

“It’s a banana.”

“바나나예요.”

“Where is ___ banana?”

“___ 바나나는 어디에 있나요?”

Now, you know, I’m talking about this one.

이제 저는 이것에 대해 이야기하고 있습니다.

It’s specific.

구체적입니다.

So, I’m going to use the article ‘the’.

그래서 관사 'the'를 사용하겠습니다.

“Where is the banana?”

“바나나는 어디 있어요?”

Okay. And now, let’s think about the preposition.

좋아요. 이제 전치사에 대해 생각해 봅시다.

“It’s __ the chair.”

“그건 __의자야.”

We need to use the preposition ‘on’.

전치사 'on'을 사용해야 합니다.

“It’s on the chair.”

“의자 위에 있어요.”

Okay.

Let’s move on.

계속 진행합시다.

“What are they?”

"그들은 무엇인가?"

Okay.

“They’re ____ oranges.”

“그들은 ____ 오렌지예요.”

We have more than one.

우리는 하나 이상을 가지고 있습니다.

That’s why we said, “They are…they’re” and “oranges” …with an ‘s’.

그것이 바로 우리가 "그들은…그들은"이고 "오렌지"는 's'를 붙여서 말한 이유입니다.

Can we use ‘the’?

'the'를 사용해도 되나요?

No, you don’t know what oranges I’m talking about because it’s the first time I said

anything about them.

이야기하고 있는지 모르실 겁니다

Then, can I use ‘a’ or ‘an’?

. 그러면 'a'나 'an'을 사용해도 되나요?

No, ‘a’ or ‘an’ is used for any one thing.

아니요, 'a' 또는 'an'은 어느 한 가지에만 사용됩니다.

So here we do not need any article.

따라서 여기에는 기사가 필요하지 않습니다.

“They’re oranges.”

“그건 오렌지예요.”

“What are they?”

"그들은 무엇인가?"

“They’re oranges.”

“그건 오렌지예요.”

Okay.

“Where __ __ oranges?”

“오렌지는 어디에 __ __?”

Now, again, you know I’m talking about these specific oranges, so we use ‘the’.

이제 다시 말씀드리지만, 제가 이 특정 오렌지에 대해 이야기하고 있다는 것을 아시므로 'the'를 사용합니다.

“Where __ the oranges?”

“오렌지는 어디에요?”

Okay, remember, when you ask a question with plural, you need ‘are’.

좋습니다. 복수형으로 질문할 때는 'are'가 필요하다는 점을 기억하세요.

“Where are the oranges?”

“오렌지는 어디 있어요?”

Now, let’s think about the preposition.

이제 전치사에 대해 생각해 봅시다.

The preposition we need is ‘under’.

우리에게 필요한 전치사는 'under'입니다.

They’re not ‘on’, “they’re ‘under’ the chair.”

그들은 '위에' 있지 않고 "의자 '아래'에 있습니다."

Now, we have two short stories here.

You have to help me find the mistakes.

The first sentence says, “It’s snake.”

첫 번째 문장은 “뱀이다”라고 되어 있습니다.

Well, we’re missing an article.

글쎄요, 기사가 하나 빠졌네요.

Okay.

좋아요.

And that article is ‘a’.

그리고 그 기사는 'a'입니다.

“It’s a snake.”

“뱀이에요.”

Okay.

좋아요.

“It’s blue a snake.”

“파란 뱀이에요.”

Can you find the mistake?

실수를 찾을 수 있나요?

Okay.

Remember, the adjective ‘blue’ has to go between the article and the noun.

좋아요.

형용사 'blue'는 관사와 명사 사이에 들어가야 한다는 점을 기억하세요.

So, we have to move the article to the front.

그래서 기사를 앞으로 옮겨야 합니다.

“It’s a blue snake.”

“푸른 뱀이에요.”

That is the correct answer.

그것이 정답입니다.

“It’s a blue snake.”

“푸른 뱀이에요.”

Okay, the next one.

좋아요, 다음이에요.

“The snake under the box.”

“상자 밑에 뱀이 있어요.”

It sounds right.

맞는 것 같습니다.

“The snake under the box.”,

"상자 아래의 뱀."

but we forgot the ‘be’ verb.

그러나 우리는 'be' 동사를 잊어버렸습니다.

“The snake is under the box.”

“뱀이 상자 밑에 있어요.”

Okay, let’s move on to the next story.

좋아, 다음 이야기로 넘어가자.

“It’s a octopus.”

“문어예요.”

Okay, we have an article, but octopus starts with the vowel ‘o’.

좋아요, 관사가 있습니다. 그런데 문어는 모음 'o'로 시작합니다.

So, we have to use ‘an’.

그래서 'an'을 사용해야 합니다.

“It’s an octopus.”

“문어예요.”

“An octopus is big.”

“문어는 크네요.”

Hmmm…

흠…

This one’s a little bit hard.

이건 좀 어렵네요.

But remember, we’re talking about the same octopus.

하지만 기억하세요. 우리는 같은 문어에 대해 이야기하고 있습니다.

So now, this octopus is specific.

이제 이 문어는 구체적입니다.

So, we have to change the article ‘an’ to ‘the’.

따라서 관사 'an'을 'the'로 바꿔야 합니다.

“The octopus is big.”

“문어가 커요.”

The octopus from the first sentence.

첫문장부터 문어.

Last, “The octopus are under the chair.”

마지막으로 “문어는 의자 밑에 있어요.”

What’s the mistake?

무슨 실수야?

“The octopus…”

“문어…”

There’s only one.

딱 한 마리 있어요.

So, we don’t use ‘are’, we have to say “is”.

따라서 'are'를 사용하지 않고 'is'라고 써야 합니다.

“The octopus is under the chair.”

“문어는 의자 밑에 있어요.”

Okay.
