In this video, I’m going to talk about how to make questions using subjective pronouns

ဒီဗီဒီယိုမှာ ပုဂ္ဂလဓိဋ္ဌာန်နာမ်စား နဲ့ 'be' ကြိယာတွေ သုံးပြီး မေးခွန်းထုတ်နည်းအကြောင်း ပြောပြပါမယ်

and ‘be’ verbs.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

So, let’s take a look at the board.

ဒီတော့ ဘုတ်ကို ကြည့်ရအောင်။

So, this example sentence says.

ဒီတော့ ဒီဥပမာဝါကျက ဆိုတယ်။

“I’m a student”.

"ကြှနျုပျကြောငျးသားပါ"။

Okay.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

Remember, “I’m” is just a contraction for “I am”.

"ငါ" သည် "ငါ" အတွက် ကျုံ့ခြင်းမျှသာဖြစ်ကြောင်း သတိရပါ။

Okay.

So, “I’m a student”.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

ဒီတော့ “ကျွန်တော်က ကျောင်းသားပါ။”

“I am a student”.

"ကျွန်တော်ကျောင်းသားပါ"။

They mean the same thing.

သူတို့ပြောတာ အတူတူပါပဲ။

Now when we want to make a question,

အခုမေးခွန်းထုတ်ချင်တဲ့အခါ၊

we just have to make a simple change. It’s very easy.

ရိုးရှင်းတဲ့ပြောင်းလဲမှုတစ်ခုလုပ်ရမယ်။ အရမ်းလွယ်ပါတယ်။

All you have to do is put the ‘be’ verb in the front.

သင်လုပ်ရမှာက 'be' ကြိယာကို ရှေ့ဆုံးမှာထားလိုက်ပါ။

Okay.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

So, “Am I a student?”.

ဒါဆို "ငါက ကျောင်းသားလား"

“Am I a student?”.

"ကျွန်တော်က ကျောင်းသားလား။"

The ‘be’ verb comes in the front.

'be' ကြိယာသည် ရှေ့တွင် လာပါသည်။

Okay.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

I also want you to listen to my intonation.

ငါ့အသံကို မင်းလည်း နားထောင်စေချင်တယ်။

When I say it in a sentence, “I’m a student”.

စာကြောင်းတစ်ကြောင်းနဲ့ ပြောတဲ့အခါ “ကျွန်တော်က ကျောင်းသားပါ”။

“I’m a student”.

"ကြှနျုပျကြောငျးသားပါ"။

Okay, then when I say it in a question.

ကောင်းပြီ၊ အဲဒါကို မေးခွန်းတစ်ခုအနေနဲ့ ပြောတဲ့အခါ။

“Am I a student?”.

"ကျွန်တော်က ကျောင်းသားလား။"

“Am I a student?”.

"ကျွန်တော်က ကျောင်းသားလား။"

Notice my intonation goes up for the question.

မေးခွန်းအတွက် ကျွန်တော့် အသံထွက်တက်လာသည်ကို သတိပြုပါ။

Okay, now there are two possible answers for this question.

အိုကေ၊ အခု ဒီမေးခွန်းအတွက် ဖြစ်နိုင်တဲ့ အဖြေနှစ်ခုရှိပါတယ်။

“Am I a student?”.

"ကျွန်တော်က ကျောင်းသားလား။"

The answers you can say are: “Yes, I am”.

သင်ပြောနိုင်သောအဖြေများမှာ “ဟုတ်ကဲ့၊ ကျွန်တော်ပါ”။

“Yes, I am”.

"ဟုတ်ပါတယ်"။

Okay.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

And, “No, I’m not”.

ပြီးတော့ “မဟုတ်ဘူး၊ ငါမဟုတ်ဘူး”။

“No, I’m not”.

"မဟုတ်ဘူး၊ ငါမဟုတ်ဘူး"

Okay.

We’re going to look at some more examples.

နောက်ထပ် ဥပမာအချို့ကို ကြည့်ပါမည်။

Let’s look at the first one.

ပထမတစ်ချက်ကိုကြည့်လိုက်ရအောင်။

“Am I…?”.

"ငါလား...?"

“Am I a girl?”.

"ငါက မိန်းကလေးလား?"

“Yes, I am”.

"ဟုတ်ပါတယ်"။

“Am I a boy?”.

"ငါက ယောက်ျားလေးလား။"

“No, I’m not”.

"မဟုတ်ဘူး၊ ငါမဟုတ်ဘူး"

“Am I a singer?”.

"ကျွန်တော်က အဆိုတော်လား။"

“Yes, I am”.

"ဟုတ်ပါတယ်"။

“Am I a friend?”.

"ငါက သူငယ်ချင်းလား။"

“No, I’m not”.

"မဟုတ်ဘူး၊ ငါမဟုတ်ဘူး"

Now, we’re going to talk about “he is” and “she is” and how to use them in questions.

ယခုကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် "သူဖြစ်သည်" နှင့် "သူမသည်" အကြောင်းနှင့်၎င်းတို့ကိုမည်ကဲ့သို့အသုံးပြုရမည်ကိုမေးခွန်းထုတ်မည်ဖြစ်သည်။

So let’s look at the sentence on the board.

ဒီတော့ ဘုတ်ပေါ်က စာကြောင်းကို ကြည့်ရအောင်။

“He’s a doctor”.

“သူက ဆရာဝန်”။

Or…

“She’s a doctor”.

ဒါမှမဟုတ်…

“သူမက ဆရာဝန်ပါ”။

Remember, “he’s” and “she’s” are contractions for “he is” and “she is”.

"သူ" နှင့် "သူမ" တို့သည် "သူ" နှင့် "သူမ" အတွက် ကျုံ့သွားသည်ကို သတိရပါ။

The ‘be’ verb there is ‘is’.

'be' ကြိယာက there is 'is' တဲ့။

So, when we make a question, we have to move the ‘be’ verb to the front.

ဒါကြောင့် မေးခွန်းထုတ်တဲ့အခါ 'be' ကြိယာကို ရှေ့ကိုရွှေ့ရပါမယ်။

Okay.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

So we put ‘is’ in the front.

ဒါကြောင့် ရှေ့ဆုံးမှာ 'is' လို့ ရေးထားတယ်။

“Is he a doctor?”.

"သူက ဆရာဝန်လား။"

“Is she a doctor?”.

"သူမက ဆရာဝန်လား။"

Okay.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

Very easy.

အရမ်းလွယ်ပါတယ်။

Just put the ‘be’ verb in the front.

ရှေ့တွင် 'be' ကြိယာကို ထားလိုက်ပါ။

Now I want you to listen to the intonation again.

အခု အသံထွက်ကို ထပ်ပြီး နားထောင်စေချင်တယ်။

“He’s a doctor”.

“သူက ဆရာဝန်”။

Okay.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

The intonation is going down.

အသံထွက် ကျသွားသည် ။

“Is he a doctor?”.

"သူက ဆရာဝန်လား။"

In the question, again, the intonation goes up.

မေးခွန်းတွင် အသံထွက် တက်လာပြန်သည်။

Okay.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

Now when you answer, they are several possible answers you can give.

ယခု သင်ဖြေသောအခါ ၎င်းတို့သည် သင်ပေးနိုင်သော ဖြစ်နိုင်ချေရှိသော အဖြေများစွာဖြစ်သည်။

So…

ဒါနဲ့…

“Yes, he is”.

“ဟုတ်တယ်၊ သူက”။

Or…

ဒါမှမဟုတ်…

“Yes, she is”.

“ဟုတ်တယ်၊ သူက”။

Okay.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

That’s easy.

ဒါလွယ်ပါတယ်။

When you come to know, this is where it gets a little tricky, but you can do it.

သင်သိလာသောအခါ၊ ဤနေရာသည် အနည်းငယ်ရှုပ်ထွေးသော်လည်း သင်လုပ်နိုင်သည် ။

“No, he isn’t”.

“မဟုတ်ဘူး၊ သူက မဟုတ်ဘူး။”

Okay, “isn’t” is a contraction for “is not”.

ကောင်းပြီ၊ "မဟုတ်" သည် "မဟုတ်" အတွက် ကျုံ့ခြင်း ဖြစ်သည်။

Okay.

“No, he isn’t”.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

“မဟုတ်ဘူး၊ သူက မဟုတ်ဘူး။”

Or…

“No, she isn’t”.

ဒါမှမဟုတ်…

“မဟုတ်ဘူး၊ သူမမဟုတ်ဘူး”။

Okay, so you can use “she isn’t”, “he isn’t”.

ကောင်းပြီ၊ ထို့ကြောင့် သင်သည် “သူမ”၊ “သူမဟုတ်” ဟု သုံးနိုင်သည်။

Another answer you can give is “No, he’s not”.

သင်ပေးနိုင်သော နောက်ထပ်အဖြေတစ်ခုမှာ “မဟုတ်ဘူး၊ သူမဟုတ်ဘူး”။

Or…

ဒါမှမဟုတ်…

“No, she’s not”.

“မဟုတ်ဘူး၊ သူမမဟုတ်ဘူး”။

You already know this is a contraction for ‘he is’ and ‘she is’.

ဒါက 'သူ' နဲ့ 'သူမ' အတွက် ကျုံ့သွားတာ မင်းသိပြီးသားပါ။

So, “No, he’s not”.

ဒီတော့ “မဟုတ်ဘူး၊ သူမဟုတ်ဘူး”။

“No, she’s not”.

"မဟုတ်ဘူး၊ သူမမဟုတ်ဘူး"

Okay.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

So these are both common.

အဲဒီတော့ ဒီနှစ်ခုလုံးက အဖြစ်များတယ်။

And they’re both ok to use.

ပြီးတော့ သူတို့နှစ်ယောက်လုံး သုံးရတာ အဆင်ပြေတယ်။

Okay.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

So, remember, we can give two different answers for ‘no’.

ထို့ကြောင့် 'မရှိ' အတွက် မတူညီသော အဖြေနှစ်ခုကို ပေးနိုင်သည်ကို သတိရပါ။

Alright, now we’re going to look at some more examples.

ကောင်းပြီ၊ ယခု ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် နောက်ထပ်ဥပမာအချို့ကို ကြည့်ပါမည်။

Now, we’re going to move on to ‘it is’.

အခုတော့ 'အဲဒါ' ကို ဆက်သွားမယ်။

Okay.

And how to use that in a question.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

အဲဒါကို ဘယ်လိုသုံးရမလဲ မေးစရာရှိတယ်။

So, let’s look at the board.

ဒီတော့ ဘုတ်ကို ကြည့်ရအောင်။

“It’s a dog”.

"အဲဒါ ခွေးပဲ"

Okay, we have the contraction “it’s”.

ကောင်းပြီ၊ ကျွန်ုပ်တို့တွင် "ဒါ" ကျုံ့နိုင်ပါပြီ။

Remember, “it’s” is a contraction for “it is”.

"it" သည် "it" အတွက် ကျုံ့ခြင်းဖြစ်သည်ကို သတိရပါ။

The ‘be’ verb is ‘is’.

'be' သည် 'is' ဖြစ်သည်။

When we make a question, remember, we have to put the ‘be’ verb in the front.

မေးခွန်းတစ်ခုမေးတဲ့အခါ 'be' ကြိယာကို ရှေ့ဆုံးမှာထားရမယ်ဆိုတာ သတိရပါ။

“Is it a dog?”

"ခွေးဟုတ်လား"

“Is it a dog?”

The intonation goes up for the question.

မေးခွန်းအတွက် အသံထွက် တက်လာသည်။

Now, there are several answers you can give.

ယခု သင်ပေးနိုင်သော အဖြေများစွာရှိပါသည်။

The first one is “Yes, it is”.

ပထမတစ်ခုက “ဟုတ်ကဲ့” ပါ။

“Yes, it is”.

"အဲဒါဟုတ်ပါတယ်"။

When you say “no”, you can give two answers.

"မဟုတ်ဘူး" လို့ပြောရင် အဖြေနှစ်ခုပေးနိုင်ပါတယ်။

“No, it isn’t”.

“No, it isn’t”.

they’re both ok to use when you say “no”.

Now, we’re going to move on to “you are” and put that in a question.

ယခုကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် “သင်ဖြစ်သည်” သို့ဆက်သွားကာ ၎င်းကို မေးခွန်းတစ်ခုထုတ်ပါမည်။

Okay.

On the board the sentence says.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

ဘုတ်ပေါ်မှာ စာကြောင်းက ပြောတယ်။

“You’re a boy”.

"မင်းက ယောက်ျားလေးလား။"

Remember, “you’re” is a contraction for “you are”.

"သင်" သည် "သင်" အတွက် ကျုံ့ခြင်းဖြစ်သည်ကို သတိရပါ။

The ‘be’ verb is ‘are’.

'be' သည် 'are' ဖြစ်သည်။

So we have to put that in the front of the question.

အဲဒီတော့ မေးခွန်းရဲ့ ရှေ့ဆုံးမှာ ထားရမယ်။

“Are you a boy?”

"မင်းက ယောက်ျားလေးလား။"

“Are you a boy?”

"မင်းက ယောက်ျားလေးလား။"

Okay.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

When we answer, it’s very simple.

ဖြေတဲ့အခါ အရမ်းရိုးရှင်းပါတယ်။

We can say, “Yes, I am” or “No, I’m not”.

“ဟုတ်တယ်၊ ငါ” ဒါမှမဟုတ် “မဟုတ်ဘူး၊ ငါမဟုတ်ဘူး” လို့ပြောနိုင်တယ်။

We’re going to look at some more examples.

“Are you a dancer?”

"မင်းက dancer တစ်ယောက်လား?"

“No, I’m not.”

"မဟုတ်ဘူး ငါမဟုတ်ဘူး"

Now, let’s talk about “we are” and how to use that in a question.

ကဲ၊ “ငါတို့” အကြောင်းနဲ့ အဲဒါကို ဘယ်လိုသုံးရမလဲဆိုတာ မေးခွန်းထုတ်ကြည့်ရအောင်။

Okay.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

So the sentence here says, “We’re teachers”.

ဒီတော့ ဒီဝါကျက “ငါတို့ ဆရာတွေပဲ” တဲ့။

Okay.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

“We’re” is a contraction from “we are”.

"ကျွန်ုပ်တို့" သည် "ကျွန်ုပ်တို့" မှ ကျုံ့ခြင်းဖြစ်ပါသည်။

So the ‘be’ verb ‘are’ goes in the front.

ဒီတော့ 'be' ကြိယာ 'are' က ရှေ့ကို ရောက်သွားတယ်။

“Are we teachers?”

"ငါတို့ဆရာလား"

“Are we teachers?”

"ငါတို့ဆရာလား"

Okay.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

When we answer, we can say several things.

ဖြေတဲ့အခါ တော်တော်များများ ပြောနိုင်ပါတယ်။

“Yes, we are.”

"ဟုတ်တယ်, ငါတို့ပဲ။"

“Yes, we are.”

"ဟုတ်တယ်, ငါတို့ပဲ။"

Or…

ဒါမှမဟုတ်…

“No, we aren’t.”

“မဟုတ်ဘူး၊ ငါတို့ မဟုတ်ဘူး။”

Listen… “aren’t.”

နားထောင်… “မဟုတ်ဘူး”

“No, we aren’t.”

"မဟုတ်ဘူး၊ ငါတို့မဟုတ်ဘူး"

“Aren’t” is a contraction for “are not”.

"မဟုတ်" သည် "မဟုတ်" အတွက် ကျုံ့ခြင်း ဖြစ်သည်။

Or we can say, “No, we’re not”.

Now, we’re moving on to ‘they are’ in a question.

အခုတော့ မေးခွန်းတစ်ခုအနေနဲ့ 'သူတို့' ကို ဆက်သွားနေပါတယ်။

The sentence on the board says, “They’re friends”.

ဘုတ်ပေါ်က စာကြောင်းက “သူတို့က သူငယ်ချင်း” တဲ့။

Remember, ‘They’re’ is a contraction for ‘they are’.

'သူတို့' သည် 'သူတို့' အတွက် ကျုံ့ခြင်းဖြစ်သည်ကို သတိရပါ။

The ‘be’ verb ‘are’ goes in the front of the question.

'be' ကြိယာ 'are' သည် မေးခွန်း၏ ရှေ့တွင် ရှိနေသည်။

“Are they friends?”

"သူတို့က သူငယ်ချင်းလား"

“Are they friends?”

"သူတို့က သူငယ်ချင်းလား"

Okay.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

Now when we answer, we can say, “Yes, they are.”

ယခု ကျွန်ုပ်တို့ဖြေသောအခါ “ဟုတ်ကဲ့၊ သူတို့က” ဟု ပြောနိုင်ပါသည်။

“Yes, they are.”

"သူတို့ဟုတ်ပါတယ်။"

Or, we can say, “No, they aren’t.”

ဒါမှမဟုတ် "မဟုတ်ဘူး၊ သူတို့မဟုတ်ဘူး" လို့ပြောနိုင်တယ်။

“No, they aren’t.”

“မဟုတ်ဘူး၊ သူတို့က မဟုတ်ဘူး။”

‘Aren’t’ is a contraction for ‘are not’.

'မဟုတ်' သည် 'မ' အတွက် ကျုံ့ခြင်း ဖြစ်သည်။

The last thing we can say is “No, they’re not”.

နောက်ဆုံးပြောနိုင်တာက “မဟုတ်ဘူး၊ သူတို့မဟုတ်ဘူး”။

“No, they’re not.”

“မဟုတ်ဘူး၊ သူတို့က မဟုတ်ဘူး။”

‘They’re’ is a contraction for ‘they are’.

These two answers for ‘no’ are both correct.

And they’re both common.

So you can say either one.

“မဟုတ်ဘူး၊ သူတို့က မဟုတ်ဘူး။”

In this lesson, we learned how to change a subjective pronoun and a ‘be’ verb into a question.

ဒီသင်ခန်းစာမှာ ပုဂ္ဂလဓိဋ္ဌာန်နာမ်စားနဲ့ 'be' ကြိယာကို မေးခွန်းတစ်ခုအဖြစ် ဘယ်လိုပြောင်းရမလဲဆိုတာ လေ့လာခဲ့ပါတယ်။

Remember, when you’re making a question, you have to put the ‘b’ verb in the beginning.

မေးခွန်းတစ်ခုမေးတဲ့အခါ 'b' ကြိယာကို အစမှာ ထည့်ရမယ်ဆိုတာ သတိရပါ။
