In this video, I’m going to talk about how to make questions using subjective pronouns

So, this example sentence says.

Okay.

Remember, “I’m” is just a contraction for “I am”.

ਯਾਦ ਰੱਖੋ, “ਮੈਂ ਹਾਂ” “ਮੈਂ ਹਾਂ” ਲਈ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇੱਕ ਸੰਕੁਚਨ ਹੈ।

Okay.

So, “I’m a student”.

ਠੀਕ ਹੈ।

ਇਸ ਲਈ, "ਮੈਂ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਹਾਂ"।

“I am a student”.

"ਮੈਂ ਇਕ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਹਾਂ".

They mean the same thing.

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਤਲਬ ਇਹੀ ਹੈ।

Now when we want to make a question,

ਹੁਣ ਜਦੋਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਕੋਈ ਸਵਾਲ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ,

we just have to make a simple change. It’s very easy.

ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇੱਕ ਸਧਾਰਨ ਤਬਦੀਲੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਪਵੇਗੀ। ਇਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਆਸਾਨ ਹੈ।

All you have to do is put the ‘be’ verb in the front.

ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ 'be' ਕਿਰਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗੇ ਰੱਖਣਾ ਹੈ।

Okay.

ਠੀਕ ਹੈ।

So, “Am I a student?”.

The ‘be’ verb comes in the front.

I also want you to listen to my intonation.

ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣੋ।

When I say it in a sentence, “I’m a student”.

ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, "ਮੈਂ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਹਾਂ"।

Okay, then when I say it in a question.

ਠੀਕ ਹੈ, ਫਿਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਸਵਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਹਾਂਗਾ।

“Am I a student?”.

"ਕੀ ਮੈਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਹਾਂ?"

“Am I a student?”.

"ਕੀ ਮੈਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਹਾਂ?"

Notice my intonation goes up for the question.

ਧਿਆਨ ਦਿਓ ਕਿ ਸਵਾਲ ਲਈ ਮੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਵਿਰਤੀ ਵੱਧ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

Okay, now there are two possible answers for this question.

ਠੀਕ ਹੈ, ਹੁਣ ਇਸ ਸਵਾਲ ਦੇ ਦੋ ਸੰਭਵ ਜਵਾਬ ਹਨ।

“Am I a student?”.

"ਕੀ ਮੈਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਹਾਂ?"

The answers you can say are: “Yes, I am”.

ਤੁਸੀਂ ਜੋ ਜਵਾਬ ਕਹਿ ਸਕਦੇ ਹੋ ਉਹ ਹਨ: "ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਹਾਂ"।

“Yes, I am”.

"ਹਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਹਾਂ".

Okay.

And, “No, I’m not”.

Let’s look at the first one.

“Am I a singer?”.

"ਕੀ ਮੈਂ ਇੱਕ ਗਾਇਕ ਹਾਂ?"

“Yes, I am”.

"ਹਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਹਾਂ".

“Am I a friend?”.

"ਕੀ ਮੈਂ ਇੱਕ ਦੋਸਤ ਹਾਂ?"

“No, I’m not”.

"ਨਾ ਮੈਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਾਂ".

Now, we’re going to talk about “he is” and “she is” and how to use them in questions.

ਹੁਣ, ਅਸੀਂ "ਉਹ ਹੈ" ਅਤੇ "ਉਹ ਹੈ" ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਨ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਵਰਤਣਾ ਹੈ।

So let’s look at the sentence on the board.

Remember, “he’s” and “she’s” are contractions for “he is” and “she is”.

ਯਾਦ ਰੱਖੋ, “ਉਹ ਹੈ” ਅਤੇ “ਉਹ ਹੈ” ਅਤੇ “ਉਹ ਹੈ” ਲਈ ਸੰਕੁਚਨ ਹਨ।

The ‘be’ verb there is ‘is’.

So, when we make a question, we have to move the ‘be’ verb to the front.

So we put ‘is’ in the front.

Very easy.

ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਆਸਾਨ.

Just put the ‘be’ verb in the front.

ਬਸ ਅੱਗੇ 'be' ਕਿਰਿਆ ਪਾਓ।

Now I want you to listen to the intonation again.

ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਧੁਨ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਸੁਣੋ।

“He’s a doctor”.

“ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਡਾਕਟਰ ਹੈ”।

Okay.

ਠੀਕ ਹੈ।

The intonation is going down.

ਪ੍ਰਵਚਨ ਘਟਦਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।

“Is he a doctor?”.

"ਕੀ ਉਹ ਡਾਕਟਰ ਹੈ?"

In the question, again, the intonation goes up.

ਸਵਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ, ਦੁਬਾਰਾ, ਧੁਨ ਵਧ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ.

Okay.

ਠੀਕ ਹੈ।

Now when you answer, they are several possible answers you can give.

ਹੁਣ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹੋ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਕਈ ਸੰਭਵ ਜਵਾਬ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਦੇ ਸਕਦੇ ਹੋ।

So…

“Yes, he is”.

When you come to know, this is where it gets a little tricky, but you can do it.

Another answer you can give is “No, he’s not”.

You already know this is a contraction for ‘he is’ and ‘she is’.

Now, we’re going to move on to ‘it is’.

And how to use that in a question.

Now, there are several answers you can give.

ਹੁਣ, ਇੱਥੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਦੇ ਸਕਦੇ ਹੋ।

The first one is “Yes, it is”.

So again, remember, we have these two answers for ‘no’, but they’re both common and

Now, we’re going to move on to “you are” and put that in a question.

ਹੁਣ, ਅਸੀਂ "ਤੁਸੀਂ ਹੋ" ਤੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਵਧਣ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਸਵਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਵਾਂਗੇ।

Okay.

On the board the sentence says.

ਠੀਕ ਹੈ।

ਬੋਰਡ ਉੱਤੇ ਵਾਕ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੈ।

“You’re a boy”.

"ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇੱਕ ਮੁੰਡਾ ਹੋ"।

Remember, “you’re” is a contraction for “you are”.
