Hi, everybody.

မင်္ဂလာပါ လူတိုင်း။

In this video, we’re going to talk about adjectives.

ဤဗီဒီယိုတွင် နာမဝိသေသနများအကြောင်း ဆွေးနွေးပါမည်။

Now, we use adjectives to describe nouns or things.

ယခု ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် နာမ် သို့မဟုတ် အရာများကို ဖော်ပြရန် နာမဝိသေသနများကို သုံးသည်။

Okay, we can describe its size, its color, its shape or other things like that.

ကောင်းပြီ၊ ၎င်း၏အရွယ်အစား၊ ၎င်း၏အရောင်၊ ၎င်း၏ပုံသဏ္ဍာန် သို့မဟုတ် ထိုကဲ့သို့သော အခြားအရာများကို ဖော်ပြနိုင်သည်။

Okay.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

So let’s take a look at the board.

ဒီတော့ ဘုတ်ကို ကြည့်ရအောင်။

The first noun we’re going to use is ‘marker’.

ကျွန်ုပ်တို့အသုံးပြုမည့် ပထမဆုံးနာမ်မှာ 'အမှတ်အသား' ဖြစ်သည်။

“It’s a marker.”

“ဒါဟာ အမှတ်အသားတစ်ခုပါ။”

Now, I want to use an adjective to describe the color.

အခုတော့ အရောင်ကို ဖော်ပြဖို့ နာမဝိသေသနကို သုံးချင်ပါတယ်။

I'm going to say, “It’s a ‘black’ marker.”

“ဒါက အနက်ရောင်” အမှတ်အသားတစ်ခုလို့ ပြောမယ်။

‘Black’ is the adjective.

'အနက်ရောင်' သည် နာမဝိသေသနဖြစ်သည်။

Now notice, I have to put the adjective after the article ‘a’, but before the noun ‘marker’.

အခု သတိထားရမှာက ဆောင်းပါး 'a' ရဲ့နောက်မှာ နာမဝိသေသနကို နာမ် 'အမှတ်အသား' ရှေ့မှာ ထည့်ထားရမယ်။

“It’s a black marker.”

“ဒါဟာ အနက်ရောင် အမှတ်အသားပဲ”

Now, I can use another adjective to describe its size.

ယခု၊ ကျွန်ုပ်သည် ၎င်း၏အရွယ်အစားကိုဖော်ပြရန် အခြားနာမဝိသေသနကိုသုံးနိုင်သည်။

“It’s a long marker.”

“ဒါဟာ ရှည်လျားတဲ့ အမှတ်အသားတစ်ခုပါ။”

Okay.

Let’s try the next one.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

နောက်တစ်ခု စမ်းကြည့်ရအောင်။

Here we have a bird.

ဒီမှာ ငှက်တစ်ကောင်ရှိတယ်။

So, “It’s a bird.”

ဒီတော့ "ဒါက ငှက်တစ်ကောင်ပဲ"

Okay.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

I want to use another adjective to describe the color.

အရောင်ဖော်ပြရန် အခြားနာမဝိသေသနကို အသုံးပြုလိုပါသည်။

So, I’m going to say, “It’s a blue bird.”

ဒီတော့ “အဲဒါက အပြာရောင်ငှက်” လို့ပြောမယ်။

Again, you have to put the adjective after the article, before the noun.

တစ်ဖန်၊ သင်သည် နာမ်၏ရှေ့၌ နာမ်၏နောက်၌ နာမဝိသေသနကို ထည့်ရမည်။

I can also describe its size.

အရွယ်အစားကိုလည်း ဖော်ပြနိုင်ပါတယ်။

“It’s a small bird.”

"အဲဒါ ငှက်ငယ်လေး"

‘Small’ is another adjective.

'Small' သည် အခြားသော adjective ဖြစ်သည်။

Now, at the last part, we have some apples.

အခုနောက်ဆုံးအပိုင်းမှာ ပန်းသီးတချို့ရှိတယ်။

Three apples.

ပန်းသီးသုံးလုံး။

Okay, remember, when we have more than one noun, it’s called a plural noun.

အိုကေ၊ ငါတို့မှာ နာမ်တစ်ခုထက်ပိုပြီး အများကိန်းနာမ်လို့ ခေါ်တာကို သတိရပါ။

So, we have to say, “They’re apples.”, with an ‘s’.

ဒါကြောင့် "သူတို့က ပန်းသီးတွေ" လို့ 's' နဲ့ ပြောရပါမယ်။

“They’re apples.”

"သူတို့က ပန်းသီးတွေပဲ။"

I want to use the adjective ‘red’ to describe the color of these apples.

ဒီပန်းသီးတွေရဲ့ အရောင်ကို ဖော်ပြဖို့ နာမဝိသေသန 'အနီရောင်' ကို သုံးချင်ပါတယ်။

So, I’m going to say, “They’re red apples.”

ဒီတော့ “သူတို့က ပန်းသီးနီတွေ” လို့ပြောမယ်။

Okay.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

Here, there’s no article.

ဤတွင်၊ ဆောင်းပါးမရှိပါ။

There’s no ‘a’.

'a' မရှိပါ။

That’s because there’s more than one.

ဘာကြောင့်လဲဆိုတော့ တစ်ခုထက်ပိုပါတယ်။

“They’re red apples.”

“သူတို့က ပန်းသီးနီ”

So, I just have to put the adjective before the noun that it’s describing.

ဒါကြောင့် ဖော်ပြတဲ့ နာမ်ရှေ့မှာ နာမဝိသေသနကို ထားရပါမယ်။

“They’re red apples.”

“သူတို့က ပန်းသီးနီ”

Okay, let’s move on to some more examples.

ကောင်းပြီ၊ နောက်ထပ် ဥပမာအချို့ကို ဆက်ကြည့်ရအောင်။

Okay. Now we’re going to practice asking and answering questions using adjectives.

ဟုတ်ပြီ ယခု ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် နာမဝိသေသနများကို အသုံးပြု၍ မေးခွန်းများမေးခြင်းနှင့် ဖြေဆိုခြင်းတို့ကို လေ့ကျင့်သွားပါမည်။

Okay.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

So, we have a man here.

ဒီတော့ ငါတို့မှာ လူတယောက်ရှိတယ်။

I want to ask, “Is he a small man?”

မေးချင်တာက "သူက လူသေးသေးလေးလား။"

Okay.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

We have the adjective ‘small’.

ကျွန်ုပ်တို့တွင် နာမဝိသေသန 'အသေး' ရှိသည်။

Notice, even in a question,

သတိပြုရန်၊ မေးခွန်းတစ်ခုတွင်ပင်

we have to put the adjective after the article and before the noun.

ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် ဆောင်းပါး၏နောက်နှင့် နာမ်ရှေ့တွင် နာမဝိသေသနကို ထည့်ရမည်ဖြစ်သည်။

“Is he a small man?”

"သူက လူသေးသေးလား"

Well, let’s take a look at this picture.

ကောင်းပြီ၊ ဒီပုံကိုကြည့်ရအောင်။

The answer is, “No, he’s a _____ man.”

အဖြေကတော့ "မဟုတ်ဘူး၊ သူက _____ လူတစ်ယောက်ပါ။"

We need another adjective.

နောက်ထပ်နာမဝိသေသနတစ်ခုလိုတယ်။

He’s not a small man.

သူက လူသေးသေး မဟုတ်ဘူး။

So, we have to say “No, he’s a…

ဒီတော့ ငါတို့က "မဟုတ်ဘူး၊ သူက... အကြီးကြီး"

big man.”

လို့ပြောရမယ် ။

Okay.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

We’re going to use the adjective ‘big’.

နာမဝိသေသန 'ကြီး' ကို သုံးပါမည်။

Okay, let’s look at the next one.

ကောင်းပြီ၊ နောက်တစ်ခုကိုကြည့်ရအောင်။

“Is it a _____ table?”

"ဒါက _____ စားပွဲလား?"

The answer is “Yes, it is.”

အဖြေကတော့ “ဟုတ်ကဲ့” ပါ။

We need an adjective to describe color, shape or size or something.

အရောင်၊ ပုံသဏ္ဍာန် သို့မဟုတ် အရွယ်အစား သို့မဟုတ် တစ်ခုခုကို ဖော်ပြရန် နာမဝိသေသနတစ်ခု လိုအပ်ပါသည်။

Well, we can’t really describe the color.

ဟုတ်တယ်၊ ငါတို့က အရောင်ကို တကယ်မဖော်ပြနိုင်ဘူး။

So, I think we should try the shape.

ဒါကြောင့် ပုံဖော်ဖို့ ကြိုးစားသင့်တယ်လို့ ထင်ပါတယ်။

Okay.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

Well, “Is it a….

“အဲဒါပဲလား….

round table?”

စားပွဲဝိုင်း?"

And the answer is “Yes, it is.”

ပြီးတော့ အဖြေက “ဟုတ်ပါတယ်” တဲ့။

Okay, and last, we have two dresses.

ကောင်းပြီ၊ နောက်ဆုံး၊ ငါတို့မှာ ဝတ်စုံနှစ်ခုရှိတယ်။

Okay. So that means the noun is plural.

ဟုတ်ပြီ ထို့ကြောင့် နာမ်သည် အများကိန်းကို ဆိုလိုသည်။

In that case, for the questions, we begin with ‘are’.

ထိုအခြေအနေတွင်၊ မေးခွန်းများအတွက်၊ ကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် 'ဖြစ်ကြသည်' ဖြင့် စတင်သည်။

“Are they red dresses?”

"သူတို့က အနီရောင်ဝတ်စုံလား"

Okay, the adjective is ‘red’.

ကောင်းပြီ၊ နာမဝိသေသနသည် 'အနီရောင်' ဖြစ်သည်။

But, “Are they red dresses?”

ဒါပေမယ့် "သူတို့က အနီရောင်ဝတ်စုံလား"

“No, they’re…

"မဟုတ်ဘူး၊ သူတို့က

blue dresses.”

အပြာရောင်ဝတ်စုံတွေ။"

Okay.

ဟုတ်ပြီ

“No, they’re…blue dresses.”

"မဟုတ်ဘူး၊ သူတို့က အပြာရောင်ဝတ်စုံတွေ။"

Okay.

ဟုတ်ပြီ
