In this video, we’re going to talk about adjectives.

이번 영상에서는 형용사에 대해 이야기해보겠습니다.

Now, we use adjectives to describe nouns or things.

이제 우리는 명사나 사물을 묘사하기 위해 형용사를 사용합니다.

Okay, we can describe its size, its color, its shape or other things like that.

좋아요, 크기, 색상, 모양 등을 설명할 수 있습니다.

Okay.

So let’s take a look at the board.

그럼 보드를 한번 살펴볼까요?

The first noun we’re going to use is ‘marker’.

우리가 사용할 첫 번째 명사는 '마커'입니다.

“It’s a marker.”

“마커입니다.”

Now, I want to use an adjective to describe the color.

이제 색상을 설명하기 위해 형용사를 사용하고 싶습니다.

I'm going to say, “It’s a ‘black’ marker.”

저는 "'검은색' 마커입니다."라고 말하겠습니다.

‘Black’ is the adjective.

'검은색'은 형용사이다.

Now notice, I have to put the adjective after the article ‘a’, but before the noun ‘marker’.

이제 관사 'a' 뒤, 명사 'marker' 앞에 형용사를 넣어야 합니다.

“It’s a black marker.”

“검은색 마커예요.”

Now, I can use another adjective to describe its size.

이제 다른 형용사를 사용하여 크기를 설명할 수 있습니다.

“It’s a long marker.”

“긴 마커입니다.”

Okay.

Let’s try the next one.

다음을 시도해 보겠습니다.

Here we have a bird.

여기 새가 있습니다.

So, “It’s a bird.”

그래서, “새예요.”

I want to use another adjective to describe the color.

색상을 설명하기 위해 다른 형용사를 사용하고 싶습니다.

So, I’m going to say, “It’s a blue bird.”

그래서 저는 “파랑새입니다.”라고 말하겠습니다.

Again, you have to put the adjective after the article, before the noun.

다시 말하지만, 관사 뒤, 명사 앞에 형용사를 넣어야 합니다.

I can also describe its size.

나는 또한 그 크기를 설명할 수 있다.

“It’s a small bird.”

“작은 새예요.”

‘Small’ is another adjective.

'작은'은 또 다른 형용사입니다.

Now, at the last part, we have some apples.

이제 마지막 부분에는 사과가 있습니다.

Three apples.

사과 세 개.

Okay, remember, when we have more than one noun, it’s called a plural noun.

좋아요, 기억하세요. 명사가 두 개 이상일 때는 복수 명사라고 부릅니다.

So, we have to say, “They’re apples.”, with an ‘s’.

따라서 '그들은 사과입니다.'라고 말해야 하며 's'를 붙여야 합니다.

“They’re apples.”

“그건 사과예요.”

I want to use the adjective ‘red’ to describe the color of these apples.

나는 이 사과의 색깔을 설명하기 위해 '빨간색'이라는 형용사를 사용하고 싶습니다.

So, I’m going to say, “They’re red apples.”

그래서 저는 “그건 빨간 사과예요.”라고 말하겠습니다.

Okay.

Here, there’s no article.

여기에는 기사가 없습니다.

There’s no ‘a’.

'a'가 없습니다.

That’s because there’s more than one.

그 이유는 하나 이상이 있기 때문입니다.

“They’re red apples.”

“빨간 사과예요.”

So, I just have to put the adjective before the noun that it’s describing.

그래서 저는 단지 그것이 묘사하는 명사 앞에 형용사를 놓아야 합니다.

“They’re red apples.”

“빨간 사과예요.”

Okay, let’s move on to some more examples.

좋아요, 더 많은 예시를 살펴보겠습니다.

Okay. Now we’re going to practice asking and answering questions using adjectives.

좋아요. 이제 형용사를 사용하여 질문하고 대답하는 연습을 해보겠습니다.

So, we have a man here.

자, 여기 남자가 있습니다.

I want to ask, “Is he a small man?”

“그 사람 작은 사람인가요?”라고 묻고 싶습니다.

Okay.

좋아요.

We have the adjective ‘small’.

'작다'라는 형용사가 있습니다.

Notice, even in a question,

질문에서도

we have to put the adjective after the article and before the noun.

관사 뒤와 명사 앞에 형용사를 와야 한다는 점에 유의하세요.

“Is he a small man?”

“그 사람 작은 사람이에요?”

Well, let’s take a look at this picture.

자, 이 사진을 한 번 볼까요?

The answer is, “No, he’s a _____ man.”

대답은 "아니요, 그는 _____ 사람입니다."입니다.

We need another adjective.

또 다른 형용사가 필요합니다.

He’s not a small man.

그는 작은 사람이 아닙니다.

So, we have to say “No, he’s a…

그래서 우리는 "아니요, 그는...

big man.”

대단한 사람이에요."라고

Okay.

말해야 합니다. 좋아요.

We’re going to use the adjective ‘big’.

우리는 형용사 '큰'을 사용할 것입니다.

Okay, let’s look at the next one.

“Is it a _____ table?”

“_____ 테이블인가요?”

The answer is “Yes, it is.”

대답은 “예, 그렇습니다.”입니다.

We need an adjective to describe color, shape or size or something.

색상, 모양, 크기 등을 설명하려면 형용사가 필요합니다.

Well, we can’t really describe the color.

글쎄, 우리는 실제로 색상을 설명할 수 없습니다.

So, I think we should try the shape.

그래서 모양을 시험해 봐야 할 것 같아요.

Okay.

Well, “Is it a….

글쎄, “그게…

round table?”

라운드 테이블?"

And the answer is “Yes, it is.”

그리고 대답은 “예, 그렇습니다.”입니다.

Okay, and last, we have two dresses.

좋아요, 그리고 마지막으로 드레스가 두 개 있어요.

Okay. So that means the noun is plural.

좋아요. 즉, 명사는 복수형이라는 뜻입니다.

In that case, for the questions, we begin with ‘are’.

이 경우 질문은 'are'로 시작합니다.

“Are they red dresses?”

“그거 빨간 드레스야?”

Okay, the adjective is ‘red’.

좋아요, 형용사는 '빨간색'이에요.

But, “Are they red dresses?”

그런데 “그거 빨간 드레스예요?”

“No, they’re…

“아니요, 그건…

blue dresses.”

파란색 드레스예요.”

Okay.

“No, they’re…blue dresses.”
