Love idioms - English vocabulary (Part 2)

Love continues, as we do 5 more love and relationships idioms!

Starting with this one :

Começando com esta:

When all you can think about is that one other person,

and everytime you think about them, it's like :

we can say this :

The person has "a crush on" or has "a thing for" the other person.

In this case, she has a crush on him,

Now, for Number 2 :

it's when one person in the relationship is

Or maybe the other person asks this question,

and the response is this :

If that's the reaction to this response,

We say "he is under the thumb".

dizemos "ele está sob controle".

Whatever she wants him to do, he'll do it.

O que quer que ela queira que ele faça, ele fará.

He wants to go out? "No".

Ele quer sair? "Não".

"Ok, it's fine!"

"OK está bem!"

This reaction, we'd definitely say he's under the thumb.

Esta reação, nós definitivamente diríamos que ele está sob controle.

Number 4 :

When you see a couple going :

Quando você vê um casal indo :

When we see this kind of behaviour,

we can call it :

But we could also say :

"To be loved up with" or "to be smitten with" someone :

so we could say :

"with eachother" is an option but not necessary.

The fifth and final idiom :

Again, everyone knows a couple like this :

Novamente, todo mundo conhece um casal assim:

January, they hate each other,

janeiro, eles se odeiam,

February, they live each other,

fevereiro, eles vivem um ao outro,

March, they wanna kill each other,

março, eles querem se matar

and April, they wanna have babies together.

e abril, eles querem ter filhos juntos.

In this situation, we can say the relationship is :

Nesta situação, podemos dizer que a relação é:

"On again, off again", or it's "on and off".

"On de novo, off de novo", ou é "on e off".

An example sentence could be :

Uma frase de exemplo poderia ser:

"All year, they have been on and off",

"Todo o ano, eles entraram e saíram"

or "they've been on and off for four months", for example.

ou "eles entraram e saíram por quatro meses", por exemplo.
