So here are five really useful really common English expressions

Number one is not fast not bothered. What does it mean you?

1) "Not fussed/not bothered"

Qu'est ce que ça veut dire?

[want] to go for dinner and your friend says where shall we go for dinner Italian food Thai food

Vous voulez aller manger quelque part et votre ami(e) vous dit :

"où est-ce qu'on peut aller manger? Italien, Thai? Quel genre de nourriture?"

What kind of food and you want to say?

Et vous voulez dire :

Vous pourriez dire :

Généralement on le contracte en "not fussed"

Say with me fair enough, when do we use it we want to say that's acceptable. That's okay

Dites-le avec moi : "fair enough".

Quand est-ce qu'on l'utilise?

Quand on veut dire "d'accord" en gros

The whole sentence is that's fair enough, but most commonly we lose that

La phrase complète c'est "that's fair enough", mais le plus souvent, on enlève "That's".

"Oh you have to work? Fair enough." (= "il faut que tu travailles? D'accord.")

So in [arguments]. This is a great way to stop an argument when you don't want to continue arguing

3) "I suppose so"

En général, on laisse tomber le "I", on dit juste "suppose so"

[we] just say suppose so but in conversation

Mais dans une conversation, on parle rapidement, donc ça sonne comme ça

We speak fast so it sounds like suppose, so yeah suppose, so but what does it mean?

Mais ça veut dire quoi?

One reason is when you agree to do something and you're saying hmM. I?

Une des significations, c'est pour quand vous êtes d'accord pour faire quelque chose et que vous dites :

Don't see why not why not, okay fine?

"Hmm, je vois pas pourquoi je dirais non, bon, ok, ça marche!"

Par exemple :

Perhaps a young boy is saying to his mum. Can we get some ice cream and the mum wants to say?

Un petit garçon qui demande à sa maman "est-ce qu'on peut acheter une glace!?" et la maman veut dire :

Okay, [I] why not sure

"Ok, pourquoi pas?"

Yeah, [I] suppose so so maybe she doesn't completely want to but she's also saying I don't see a reason

Remember you agree with something so it could be someone says something

So what does it mean? How do we use it ah?

You arrive at a party and the party is rubbish. There's like one person

Vous venez d'arriver à une soirée, et elle est pourrie,

Il y a une personne que vous n'aimez pas, la musique est pourrie, et vous pensez :

you don't like and the music is rubbish, and you're thinking oh if

"oh si j'étais resté à la maison, ça aurait été mieux qu'ici."

I had stayed at home that would have been better than here or at least no different. No more or less

ou "ça aurait été pareil." Plus ou moins le même niveau de fun.

Dans ce cas, vous pouvez dire ça :

Prononciation :

ne prononcez pas le "t" : "I migh' as well"

Grammar have stayed we've got present perfect that is because it's a past action

Niveau grammaire, "have stayed", on a du present perfect parce que c'est une action dans le passé

to stay at home that will be a past action so have stayed and

Dans ce cas, vous pouvez aussi utiliser l'expression.

Should we just shall we go home?

"On rentre?"

He can say yeah might as well now. This is the short version. [what's] the long version?

Il peut dire "might as well".

Après, ça c'est la version courte. C'est quoi la version longue?"

We might as well go home

"We might as well go home" (= "on ferait tout aussi bien de rentrer")

So notice in the previous example. We said I might as well have stayed at home

Donc, remarquez, dans l'exemple précédent, on a dit "I might as well have stayed at home"

Have stayed because it's a past action which was better

"Have stayed" parce que c'est une action passée qui aurait été mieux.

This action is a future action

Cette action-ci est une action dans le futur

Might as well go home in the future

"Might as well go home", dans le futur.

There's no house might as well go

Pas de "have", "might as well go home".

Home and that verb will not change whether it's he she it doesn't matter. It's always in the infinitive

Et ce verbe ne changera pas même si le pronom est he/she/it, peu importe, ce sera toujours l'infinitif.

Now I did just say use it when there is nothing better to do. I don't mean wow

Je viens juste de dire de l'utiliser quand "il n'y a rien de mieux à faire"

Je veux pas dire "Waouh, y a vraiment rien de mieux à faire!"

There is nothing better to do I don't mean it like that. I mean it like this

Je veux dire :

Well nothing better to do [I] can't think of anything

"pfff, rien de mieux à faire... non, je vois pas.."
