In today's lesson we're talking about love!

V dnešní lekci budeme mluvit o lásce!

so today we need to do some really important expressions

dnes musíme probrat některé opravdu důležité výrazy

about love, dating, and relationships

o lásce, randění a vztazích.

you're out with your friend having a drink

Jste někde s kamarádkou a dáváte si drink.

You're single. No boyfriend no girlfriend no nothing!

Jste sama. Žijete sama. S nikým nechodíte - nic.

But your friend has a friend

Ale kamarádka má přítele

and she thinks that her friend and you would be a really good couple

a myslí si, že její přítel a vy byste byli skvělý pár.

so she wants to introduce you

Chce mu vás tedy představit.

that's my friend you should date her you'd be a great couple

"To je má kamarádka. Myslím, že bys s ní měl chodit. Byli byste nádherná dvojice."

this situation the expression the phrasal verb is called to "set up"

Tato situace, výraz, frázové sloveso zní "set up" - dohazovat, dávat dohromady.

How do we use this in a sentence?

Jak to použijeme ve větě?

she did the introduction

Ona představovala,

so she set them up

ona je dávala dohromady.

or we could say

nebo bychom mohli říci

she set him up with her

"dávala ho s ním dohromady".

Just remember it means she introduced them

Znamená to tedy, že je seznámila,

because she thinks they're gonna fall in love

protože si myslí, že se zamilují.

So they meet, they have very good chemistry from the start

Oni se tedy setkají a od začátku je mezi nimi výborná chemie.

"Oh my god you're like so hot!"

"Bože, ty jsi tak úžasný!"

"Well I think you're rather beautiful too!"

"Inu, já si také myslím, že jsi dost pěkná."

so when that happens

A když se to stane,

from the start they're very good together they have very good chemistry

jsou od začátku velmi spokojeni, přitahují se navzájem,

they're talking everything is great

povídají si, všechno je báječné.

for this we say...

Tohle nazýváme:

"They're getting on well" it's fine

"They're getting on well" - to je dobré.

but there's a better one...

Ale je něco lepšího.

they're "hitting it off"

They're "hitting it off."

they basically mean the same thing

V podstatě to znamená totéž -

they have good chemistry together

vzájemně se přitahují.

when they're talking it's all good it flows everything is just :)

Když si povídají, je všechno pěkné, všechno ladně plyne ...

and let's talk about this

A řekněme si tohle:

When they are giving each other compliments, when they're talking

Když si navzájem lichotí, když říkají

"So do you have a boyfriend or a... whatever?"

"A máš nějakého přítele nebo ... vůbec?"

"Oh my god no I'm SO single! That's so random! You're funny!

"Ále ne, jsem TAK sama! To nic nebylo, ty hloupý!"

when that happens they are "flirting"

Když se děje toto, je to flirtování.

"Flirt" is the verb. Pronunciation /flɜːt/

Sloveso zní "flirt". Výslovnost /flɜːt/.

it's that annoying /ɜː/ sound

Je to ta protivná hláska /ɜː/.

in a sentence

Ve větě

"They're flirting"

for most of these expressions

ve většině takových výrazů

we'll use present continuous of course you can use future, past simple, whatever

použijeme přítomný čas průběhový. Jistěže můžete použít i budoucí, minulý jednoduchý, cokoliv.

but for this story we'll use present continuous. Just because

Ale v tomto příběhu použijeme přítomný čas průběhový. Prostě proto ...

So they're flirting, they're hitting it off, everything is perfect, right?

Takže flirtují, rozumějí si, všechno je dokonalé, že?

Well not really for her

Ale ne tak pro tuhle.

I mean she's alone and her two friends are together

Je sama a její dva přátelé jsou spolu.

she's alone she's bored

Je sama, nudí se.

When this happens, when you're as a three

Když se děje tohle, když jste trojice,

but you're alone and the other two are a couple

ale vy jste sama a oni jsou spolu

you unfortunately are

tak se bohužel nudíte.

you're the "third wheel", that's a noun

jste "ten třetí", "páté kolo u vozu" - "third wheel". To je podstatné jméno

she is the third wheel

she came with two friends but they're now a couple so she's alone

Měla dva přátele, ale oni jsou teď spolu, a ona je sama.

she's the third wheel

Ona je "the third wheel".

especially bad when this happens

Obzvláště nepříjemné, když se stane tohle.

maybe after a few more drinks this starts to happen

Možná že po několika skleničkách se začne dít toto:

when they start kissing but a lot

Když se začnou líbat, ale hodně,

when that happens when you want to say "they are kissing a lot" you say this...

Když se děje tohle, když chcete říci "pořád se líbají", řeknete:

"They're making out" nice and easy

"They're making out" - zkrátka a dobře.

remember we're using that present continuous tense

Pamatujte, že používáme přítomný čas průběhový,

because we're telling a story it's happening now

protože vyprávíme příběh, který se děje teď

...in our heads

... v našich hlavách.

so tonight, for the third wheel, for the friend

Takže dnes, pro to "páté kolo", pro kamarádku,

it's not looking great

to nevypadá dobře.

but then...

Ale pak ...

but then a mysterious stranger enters...

ale pak vstoupí tajemný neznámý.

when you look at someone, or when someone looks at you with that look

Když se na někoho podíváte nebo když se někdo podívá na vás tím pohledem,

in this situation

v té situaci

he is "giving her the eye". AND...

"hází po ní okem" (giving her the eye). A ...

She is doing the same

ona udělá totéž.

you can also say...

Můžete také říci

"to make eyes at someone"

"to make eyes at someone" (dělat na někoho oči).

So in a sentence

Ve větě

"she's making eyes at him" "he's making eyes at her"

"she's making eyes at him" "he's making eyes at her" -

instant attraction

náhlá přitažlivost.

what happens next?

Co se stane dál?

instantly they hit it off

Okamžitě si padnou do oka.

they get on well together

Dobře si rozumějí.

so they love each other they get matching tattoos

Vzájemně se milují dávají si dělat párové tetování ...

when you want to say you're official in a relationship

Když chcete říci, že máte oficiální vztah,

you would say you "get together"

řeknete "get together".

this one we won't use in continuous

To se nepoužívá v průběhovém čase.

the moment it happens it's already past so they "got together"

V momentě, kdy se to děje, je to již minulostí. Takže "got together".

so this means they're kind of official they're together they're a couple

Znamená to tedy, že jsou spolu oficiálně, jsou milenci.

there's another way which is more casual

Dá se to vyjádřit i jinak, méně škrobeně:

we can say "they are seeing each other"

řekneme "they are seeing each other" (chodí spolu).

maybe it's serious maybe it's not

Ať je to vážné nebo není.

but it is generally seen as a casual relationship

Obvykle se to považuje za neformální vztah.

for example if someone asks you

Například, když se vás někdo zeptá

"Are you single married what's your relationship situation?"

"Jste svobodný, ženatý, jak je to s vámi?"

You want to say

Řeknete

"well I have a have a human and we occasionally get together and it's romantic"

"No, někoho mám. Občas se vídáme a je to romantické."

you can say "I'm seeing someone"

Můžete říci "S někým se scházím."

it could be a boyfriend or girlfriend but generally again it's seen as more casual

Může to být muž nebo žena, ale všeobecně to opět vyznívá jako spíše neformální.

after you get together there are generally two directions in which that relationship will go

Když spolu začnete chodit, jsou obvykle dva směry, kudy se vztah bude ubírat.

for this couple, everything is perfect

U tohoto páru je všechno dokonalé.

they are so in love

Strašně se milují,

They're crazy stupid in love

jsou bláznivě zamilovaní.

they are loved up

"They are loved up."

most commonly however we would say "they are all loved up"

Nejčastěji však říkáme "they are all loved up".

Why? I don't know why

Proč? Nevím.

"Yeah I have two friends they're all loved up. Woo. Great. good for you"

"Jo, mám dva kamarády. Moc se milují." - "Ó, výborně, to máš dobré."

Also you know when couples do that baby talk and it's like

A když takoví zamilovaní na sebe šišlají jako děti -

"Oh my god I wuv you!"

"Já tě tak mijuju!"

"I wuv you too"

"Já tě taky mijuju."

when they are too affectionate and it's annoying

Když to s city přehánějí, až je to nudné,

that is what you call...

říká se tomu

Lovey-dovey they are being lovey-dovey.

lovey-dovey. "They are being lovey-dovey." (ťuťu ňuňu, cukrovat)

Again commonly we use the word all before that

I zde obvykle vkládáme slovo "all".

"They're being all lovey-dovey again talking like babies.

"Zase cukrují, šišlají jako děti.

I hate them"

Já je nesnáším."

that's a good way that the relationship could go

To je dobrá cesta, kterou se vztah může ubírat.

however it could go bad

Může se však pokazit.

when a couple is arguing when they're fighting

Když se ti dva hádají, když spolu bojují,

this is what we call...

říkáme, že

"have a tiff"

"they have a tiff".

a "tiff" is an argument that couples have

"Tiff" je hádka, která probíhá v páru.

so that's a noun

Je to podstatné jméno

so we need that verb "have"

a proto potřebujeme sloveso "have".

"They're having another tiff. terrible. they should...

"Zase se hádají. To je strašné. Měli by se

...break up"

... rozejít (break up).

When a relationship ends, you "break up"

Když vztah končí, rozcházíte se (you break up).

Other ways we can say "break up" are...

"Break up" se dá říci i jinak:

split up, separate, or part

"split up", "separate" nebo "part".

some are more common than others. Let's have a look

Některé jsou obvyklejší než ty druhé, podívejme se:

"parted" we almost never say that

"Parted" - to se téměř nikdy neříká.

maybe sometimes you'll hear it but don't say it

Možná to někdy zaslechnete, ale neříkejte to.

it's too old-fashioned it's too formal

Je to dost zastaralé a příliš formální.

next once "separated" it's more formal

Dále "separated" je formálnější.

so maybe for a marriage

takže možná se to dá říci o manželství

some more serious relationship

nebo vážnějším vztahu.

then you might want to say...

Mohli byste říci:

"we separated last year"

"We separated last year."

so that wouldn't be for a casual relationship, no

To by neoznačovalo neformální vztah,

that is for something more serious a bit more formal

ale něco vážnějšího, trochu formálnějšího.

split up, break up

Split up, break up

they mean the same thing

znamenají totéž.

"break up" is more common to use

Běžněji se užívá "break up".

mmm so use that one

Takže používejte to.

So now you have the expressions it's time to practice them
