Well in this video, I'm going to bake some cookies

in my kitchen and while I'm doing that,

Those are cookies that you buy from the store.

And we have no more homemade cookies.

और हमारे पास घर की बनाई हुई कुकीज़ भी नहीं हैं।

Those are cookies that you make at home.

वे कुकीज़ जिन्हें घर पर बनाते हैं।

So today in this video,

I am going to bake some cookies from scratch.

मैं बिल्कुल शुरुआत से कुछ कुकीज़ बनाने जा रहा हूँ।

That means I am going to use all of the ingredients

मतलब मैं सारे सामान का इस्तेमाल करूँगा

that I need to make cookies at home.

जो मुझे घर पर कुकीज़ बनाने के लिये चाहिये।

So it's important whenever you are making something

जब भी आप रसोई में कुछ बना रहे हों तब ज़रूरी होता है कि

in the kitchen that you wash your hands before you start.

आप शुरू करने से पहले अपने हाथ धो लें।

So I am using the water from this faucet

अपने हाथ धोने के लिये मैं इस नलके के पानी का इस्तेमाल कर रहा हूँ

to wash my hands and I'm using this hand soap

और इस साबुन का

and I'm going to use this cloth to dry off my hands.

और अपने हाथ सुखाने के लिये मैं इस कपड़े का इस्तेमाल करूँगा।

Notice this cloth has a nice

ध्यान दीजिये इस कपड़े में बॉब द कनेडियन का मनपसंद नीला धारीदार पैटर्न है।

Bob the Canadian blue plaid pattern on it.

So in order to make cookies,

कुकीज़ बनाने के लिये

I'm going to need some kind of instructions.

मुझे कुछ निर्देशों की ज़रूरत पड़ेगी।

In English, we call this a recipe.

अंग्रेज़ी में हम इसे रैसिपी कहते हैं।

A recipe is something that you find in a cookbook,

रैसिपी हमें कुकबुक में मिलती है

like this book right here,

जैसे कि इस किताब में

and it gives you all of the ingredients,

और ये आपको सारी सामग्री बताती है,

the things that you need to make what you want to make,

वे सामान जो आपको बनाने के लिये चाहिये जो आप बनाना चाहते हैं,

as well detailed instructions on how to make it.

और साथ ही बनाने की विधि भी।

So when I read my recipe, it tells me what ingredients

I need in order to make cookies.

So I have all my ingredients right here ready to go.

They were originally up here in the cupboard,

but I've put them all out here on the counter,

or countertop, and I think I'm ready to get started.

Of course you might be wondering

बेशक ऐसा हो सकता है कि आप सोच रहे हों

what these things are called.

इन सब चीज़ों को क्या कहते हैं।

We would call these measuring cups.

इन्हें हम मैज़रिंग कप कहते हैं।

These are plastic measuring cups.

ये प्लास्टिक के मैज़रिंग कप हैं।

We also have glass measuring cups

हमारे पास काँच के मैज़रिंग कप भी हैं

which allow you to measure

जिनका इस्तेमाल आप अपनी ज़रूरत के हिसाब से सामग्री को तौलने के लिये कर सकते हैं।

how much of each ingredient you need.

We also have measuring spoons.

हमारे पास मैज़रिंग स्पून भी हैं।

So when you need to measure out smaller amounts

जब आपको सामग्री को कम मात्रा में तौलने हो

of different ingredients, you can use measuring spoons.

तब आप मैज़रिंग स्पून इस्तेमाल कर सकते हैं।

And you might be wondering what ingredients

और हो सकता है आप सोच रहे हों मैं इस रैसिपी में क्या-क्या डाल रहा हूँ।

I'm using in this recipe.

Well I'm using flour, oatmeal,

मैं डाल रहा हूँ मैदा, ओटमील,

brown sugar, white sugar,

भूरी शक्कर, सफ़ेद शक्कर,

an egg, baking powder and baking soda,

एक अंडा, बेकिंग पाउडर और बेकिंग सोडा,

vanilla extract, and of course, chocolate chips.

वनीला का अर्क और बेशक, चॉकलेट चिप्स।

I should sample some of these

मुझे इनमें से कुछ चखके देखने चाहिये

to make sure they're good.

पक्का करने के लिये कि ये अच्छे हैं।

Mm, they're good.

So an interesting thing about Canada

कनाडा के बारे में एक दिलचस्प बात ये है कि

is that we have an American system of measurement

हमारे मैज़रिंग कप में एक तरफ़ अमेरिका का मैज़रमेंट सिस्टम होता है

on one side of our measuring cups

and a metric system of measurement on the other side.

और दूसरी तरफ़ मैट्रिक का मैज़रमेंट सिस्टम होता है।

And there are a few other things I need

और कुकीज़ बेक करने के लिये मुझे कुछ चीज़ें चाहिये।

in order to bake cookies.

I need a few utensils.

मुझे कुछ बर्तन चाहिये।

So I have a fork and a couple of spoons.

मेरे पास एक काँटेवाली चम्मच है और दो चम्मचें है।

You'll see what these are for later.

आप बाद में देखेंगे ये किस काम के लिये हैं।

And I also have the baking sheet right here.

और मेरे पास यहाँ बेकिंग शीट भी है।

This is called a baking sheet or a cookie sheet.

इसे बेकिंग शीट या कुकी शीट कहते हैं।

This is what I will actually bake the cookies on

मैं इसी पर कुकीज़ बेक करूँगा

once I have mixed all the ingredients together.

सारी सामग्री साथ में मिला देने के बाद।

We'll also need a few small appliances to bake our cookies.

हमें कुकीज़ बेक करने के कुछ छोटे अप्लायंसिज़ की भी ज़रूरत पड़ेगी।

I've already used the microwave

मैं मक्खन को थोड़ा पिघलाने के लिये माइक्रोवेव का पहले ही इस्तेमाल कर चुका हूँ।

to melt the butter a little bit.

We won't be using the toaster.

हम टोस्टर का इस्तेमाल नहीं करेंगे।

And we won't need the coffee maker.

और हमें कॉफ़ी मेकर की ज़रूरत नहीं पड़ेगी।

But I will be using this mixer

लेकिन मैं इस मिक्सर का इस्तेमाल करूँगा

when I put all the ingredients together

जब सारी सामग्री को एक-साथ डालकर

and I need to mix them.

उसे मिलाने करने की ज़रूरत पड़ेगी।

We also have large appliances in the kitchen.

रसोई में हमारे पास बड़े अप्लायंसिज़ भी हैं।

I won't be needing the stove to make cookies,

कुकीज़ बनाने के लिये मुझे स्टोव की ज़रूरत नहीं पड़ेगी

but I will be needing the oven.

लेकिन ओवन की ज़रूरत पड़ेगी।

In fact, I should probably preheat the oven

मुझे तो सही तापमान पर ओवन प्रीहीट भी कर देना चाहिये।

to the right temperature.

I'll do that right now.

अभी करूँगा।

So I'm setting it to 375.

मैं इसे 375°F पर सैट कर रहा हूँ।

When this little red light goes off,

जब ये छोटी लाल बत्ती जलना बंद हो जाए,

we'll know that the oven is at the right temperature.

हमें पता चल जाएगा कि ओवन सही तापमान पर है।

I think we're ready to make the cookies.

मुझे लगता है हम कुकीज़ बनाने के लिये तैयार हैं।

I am going to follow all the instructions in the recipe

मैं रैसिपी में दिये गए सारे निर्देशों को मानूँगा

and put the ingredients into this mixing bowl

और इस मिक्सिंग बाउल में सामग्री डालूँगा

so that we will have cookie dough.

ताकि कुकी का आटा तैयार हो जाए।

After I have mixed everything together carefully

अच्छे से सब कुछ साथ मे मिला देने के बाद

I will put the dough on the cookie sheet

मैं आटे को कुकी शीट पर रखूँगा

and we will bake the cookies in the oven.

और फिर हम ओवन में कुकीज़ बेक करेंगे।

Let's get started.

चलिये शुरू करते हैं।

It's going good so far, I think.

(chips rattle)

This is really hard to stir.

इसे मिलाना बहुत मुश्किल है।

I hope I made it right.

उम्मीद है मैंने इसे सही से बनाया है।

If it falls out, you just eat it, right,

अगर ये गिर जाए तो खा लेना चाहिये, है ना?

if it's a chocolate chip.

Well there you have it, cookie dough.

तो ये रहा कुकी का आटा।

Next I'm going to use this spoon

अब मैं कुकी के आटे को कुकी शीट पर रखने के लिये इस चम्मच का इस्तेमाल करूँगा

to put the cookie dough onto this cookie sheet,

or baking sheet, and then I'm going to

और फिर मैं कुकीज़ को ओवन में रखूँगा

put the cookies in the oven so that they can bake.

ताकि वे बेक हो जाएँ।

I'm not very good at making cookies, by the way.

वैसे मैं कुकीज़ बनाने में बहुत अच्छा नहीं हूँ।

There we go.

हो गया।

So now I'm going to put the cookies in the oven

अब कुकीज़ को ओवन में रखने जा रहा हूँ

so that they can bake.

ताकि वे बेक हो जाएँ।

I am also going to set the timer.

मैं टाइमर भी सैट करने जा रहा हूँ।

The recipe said to set the timer for 10 to 12 minutes

रैसिपी में बताया गया था कि टाइमर को 10 से 12 मिनट के लिये सैट करें

so I'm going to set it for 10 minutes

तो मैं इसे 10 मिनट के लिये सैट करने जा रहा हूँ

and now we're going to wait.

और अब हम इंतज़ार करेंगे।

This is the hardest part of making cookies

कुकीज़ बनाने का सबसे मुश्किल काम यही होता है,

is the waiting, the waiting is definitely the hardest part.

वो है इंतज़ार। इंतज़ार करना बेशक सबसे मुश्किल काम होता है।

I love the smell of cookies

मुझे कुकीज़ की महक बेहद पसंद है

when they are baking in the oven.

जब वे ओवन में बेक हो रही होती हैं।

In fact, it just makes me want to eat more of them

इससे उन्हें खाने का मेरा और भी मन करता है

and I'm going to try and limit myself to just two.

By the way, did I tell you we were making

I'm not sure if I mentioned that earlier in the video.

That's definitely what's baking in the oven right now

and I can't wait to have one or two, but not three.

Maybe three, we'll see.

In about four seconds the timer is going to go off.

(timer beeps) There it goes.

When the timer goes off, I am going to turn the timer off

टाइमर बजने पर मैं टाइमर बंद करने जा रहा हूँ

and then I am going to take the cookies out of the oven.

और फिर मैं कुकीज़ को ओवन से बाहर निकालूँगा।

(pan rattles)

Don't they look really yummy?

स्वादिष्ट लग रही हैं ना?

I'm going to just put them here

मैं इन्हें थोड़ी देर ठंडा होने के लिये यहाँ स्टोव टॉप पर रख देता हूँ।

on the stove top to cool off for a bit.

You'll notice I'm wearing an oven mitt

आप ध्यान देंगे कि मैं ओवन के दस्ताने पहने हुए हूँ

because I certainly don't want to burn my hand

क्योकि मैं अपने हाथ नहीं जलाना चाहता

when I take the hot cookies out of the oven.

गरम-गरम कुकीज़ को ओवन से बाहर निकालते हुए।

In order to allow the cookies to cool off,

ताकि कुकीज़ ठंडी हो जाएँ

I'm going to put them on this cooling rack.

मैं उन्हें इस कूलिंग रैक पर रख दूँगा।

That will just let the cookies slowly cool off

इससे धीरे-धीरे कुकीज़ ठंडी हो जाएँगी

and then they will be ready to eat sooner.

और फिर वे जल्द ही खाने के लिये तैयार हो जाएँगी।

So there you go, an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie.

I think the last thing to do,

मेरे ख़्याल से करने के लिये आख़िरी काम है,

besides the dishes, of course,

बर्तन धोने के अलावा, बेशक,

is to eat the cookie, or to try the cookie.

कुकी को खाना या आज़माना।

Let's see how this tastes.

Ow, it's really hot, mm.

But it's really yummy.

I'm sorry to eat on camera (chuckles).
