right, let's get started with the spring related Idioms

now the first Idioms is "no spring chicken!"

La primera expresión es "no eres una gallina de primavera"

and if you describe somebody as no spring chicken

y si describes a alguien como que no es una gallina de primavera

it means that they are no longer young

significa que ya no es tan joven.

it comes from when farmers could charge much higher prices

Viene de cuando los granjeros podían cobrar precios mucho más altos

for chickens born in the spring

por las gallinas nacidas en primavera

because, they were fresher and they hadn't had to

porque eran más frescas y no habían tenido

live through all the winter months

So, it's not a particularly nice thing to say about somebody

if somebody described me as a no spring chicken

I would be a little bit offended

now the next one is "the grass is always greener on the other side"

La siguiente es "queremos lo que no tenemos"

because, it's quite a good one to live by

but, it's an expression we say all the time

pero es una expresión que decimos todo el rato:

the grass is always greener. the grass is greener.

the full version of this is

La versión completa de esto sería:

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence

"La hierba siempre es más verde al otro lado de la valla".

and it means, your neighbours grass

Significa que la hierba de tus vecinos

always looks greener than your grass

siempre parece más verde que tu hierba

so always, tend to envy what other people have

porque siempre, tendemos a envidiar lo que tienen los demás

and you don't actually appreciate

y no te das realmente cuenta

how good what you have, really is

de que lo que tú tienes, también es bueno.

so, from your perspective it might look like they have

Desde tu perspectiva puede parecer que tienen

a perfect life.

una vida perfecta.

but, once you change to their side of the fence

Pero desde el otro lado de la valla,

they might think, think you have a perfect life.

también piensan que tú tienes una vida perfecta.

now the next spring Idiom is lovely this one is

La siguiente expresión con primavera es preciosa

"a ray of sunshine"

"un rayo de sol" (la alegría de la huerta en español)

and this is a really lovely way of describing somebody

y es una forma realmente bonita de describir a alguien

who is like the Sun they make things grow

que es como el sol: hace crecer las cosas-

they make you feel happy they're warm

Te hacen sentir bien, son amables

it's just a really nice way of describing

es una forma realmente bonita de describir

a worm, friendly, happy, positive person

a alguien amable, amigable, feliz y positiva.

So, I would say that my mum is a ray of sunshine

Yo diría que mi madre es la alegría de la huerta.

she always makes me feel better

Siempre me hace sentir mejor

and people just enjoy being around her

y a la gente le gusta estar con ella.

now number 4 is "spring fever"

La número 4 es "fiebre de primavera"

and spring fever is that feeling of restlessness

que es ese sentimiento de inquietud

just before summer when the weather is starting get nicer

justo antes del verano, cuando el tiempo empieza a mejorar

flowers are coming out

las flores empiezan a salir

you want to... you want to go outside

y quieres... quieres salir a la calle

and be active and you get a bit energetic

estar activo y estás más enérgico.

it doesn't just have to be used in spring though

No tiene por qué utilizarse sólo en primavera,

it can be used to describe the feeling

se puede utilizar para describir el sentimiento

that you have in spring

I definitely get spring fever

Definitivamente yo tengo fiebre primaveral

although I have met a few people

that seem to get spring fatigue

que más bien tiene fatiga primaveral,

when they suddenly get really tired, just before summer

cuando de repente se cansan mucho, justo antes del verano.

but the Idioms is spring fever.

Pero la expresión es fiebre primaveral.

the final Idiom a really lovely one again is

La expresión final es una realmente bonita de nuevo que es:

"to be full of the joys of spring"

"estar lleno de alegría de primavera".

spring is supposedly one of the most joyful months

Primavera es supuestamente una de las estaciones más bonitas.

there are lambs, flowers... you know

Hay corderos, flores... Ya sabéis.

you're it's a very quick and drastic shift

Es un cambio bastante rápido y drástico

from very cold harsh weather to suddenly

everything sunny and green

So, if somebody is a very happy and enthusiastic person

you can describe them as being full of the joys of spring

So, if somebody is constantly happy enthusiastic

positive, smiling, laughing

then they are full of the joys of spring.
