Some people these days have a very good career

doing that actual thing, translating.

So even though we have a lot of technology around nowadays to help us

translate, there is no substitute for one of these.

A human being. You cannot

you cannot replicate a human being.

The essence of a human cannot be

reproduced.

So even though we have lots of lovely ways of translating and yes, it is useful,

there is no substitute for an actual person doing the translating there.

And of course, we all like to have a human being nearby.

It is reassuring.

Steve is away at the moment, so I do not feel very reassured at all.

We were out with some friends having a lovely Indian curry,

and we were talking about a lot of things last weekend with our friends Sonia and Brent.

One of the things that I talked about was my birthday next year

because next year, for those who know, my birthday next year is a big one.

We often talk about birthdays

as being the big one if it is a significant age.

So maybe you reach a certain age, maybe a certain age with a zero at the end,

like my birthday next year.

And there I am, falling.

Falling to the ground.

fall.

I haven't yet.

I am very happy to say all of the times that I've put the Christmas lights on the house, not once have I fallen.

Fortunately, fall can be an action.

Quite often we talk about fall as an action.

Something that is happening, a thing.

Movement, an action, a thing that is occurring, something visible, an action.

You can see, something you can feel happening is an action.

It is a verb.

So fall can be an action, a type of movement.

You can move forward, you can move back.

You can move from side to side and you can move down very quickly.

That is the word fall the downward direction or a sudden descent.

The word descent means drop.

Or maybe you come down slowly.

You have a descent.

We often hear

aircraft pilots talk about their descent.

They are landing.

So the altitude is dropping.

They are coming down to land. That is their descent.

You might have a sudden descent.

A sudden descent means you drop or fall.

You suddenly come down.

Hopefully that never happens in an aeroplane.

So a sudden drop, a sudden descent, an uncontrolled cold descent

can be described as a fall to fall.

Suddenly, an uncontrolled descent,

normally under the force of gravity.

I don't know why the word tumble always sounds fun.

Of course it can mean something else as well.

It means you are.

We all know that. Well, some people might not fall.

For example, you might have a heavy fall of rain.

A heavy fall of rain is showing that thing.

It is naming it so heavy.

You can fall.

So you might find that a type of structure or a building might also fall.

A building might fall.

Something fall falls, a building might fall.

We often use the word collapse as well.

The building collapsed.

If something collapses, it means it goes from its normal structure to something much smaller.

So if a building collapses, you can say it falls and what is left

is normally less than the actual building.

Or at least it appears so.

Because don't forget, buildings are mainly space inside a building.

But you might

say that a building is a type of cavity, or maybe there are lots of cavities inside the building.

So the building always looks larger when it's up, but when it collapses,

If something crashes to the ground, we can say that it falls.

So there are many ways of using that particular word in that particular sense.

You wobble, you teeter again.

This is a real word.

The word teeter means you are on the edge of something, so you don't fall.

You are not safe.

You teeter.

You are balancing on the edge of something.

You might teeter on the edge of a certain thing.

The car teetered on the edge of the cliff, so the word teeter means to balance without falling.

You almost fall.

But you don't.

You don't.

Here's another one

we can describe a slow decline as a fall in the sense of a number or amount,

so you can have a slow fall or a slow decline as

slowly falling something is slowly reducing.

It is going down slowly.

For example,

the fall or fall and the number of people unemployed.

That means the number of people who are without work is falling.

The number is going down.

You might also have a fall in the number of road accidents
