And in this video, I want to talk about a very important vocabulary word

And that word is ‘monsoon season’.

。 そしてその言葉は「モンスーンの季節」です。

What is ‘monsoon season’?

「モンスーンの季節」とは何ですか？

Well, every summer many foreigners come and they're surprised by how much rain there is, right?

そうですね、毎年夏になると外国人がたくさん来ますが、雨の多さに驚かれますよね。

In the summer, in Korea, for about one month,

韓国の夏は、

usually in July, there's a lot of rain, okay.

通常 7 月の約 1 か月間、雨がたくさん降ります。

And in English we call that the ‘monsoon season’.

英語ではそれを「モンスーンシーズン」と呼びます。

So it's very important for Koreans to have a good umbrella.

したがって、韓国人にとって良い傘を持つことは非常に重要です。

Maybe some rain boots, right?

レインブーツでもいいんじゃないでしょうか？

But also it can cause some problems for some businesses and homes if there's too much rain and flooding, right?

しかし、あまりにも多くの雨や洪水が発生すると、一部の企業や家庭に問題が発生する可能性もありますよね?

So if you see a foreigner, and they ask about summer in Korea,

したがって、外国人に会い、韓国の夏について尋ねられた場合、

it's very important that you remember that you tell them about monsoon season.

モンスーンの季節について話していることを覚えておくことが非常に重要です。

Okay so let's look on the board and look at this example sentence.

“The monsoon season in Korea begins in summer.”

「韓国のモンスーンの季節は夏に始まります。」

Right? I just talked about that.

Again, “The monsoon…”

So “The monsoon season in Korea begins in summer.”

And as we said, the monsoon season lasts for about one month,

and there's lots of rain during the monsoon season.

モンスーンの季節には雨がたくさん降ります。

Okay so in this video we learned about the vocabulary word ‘monsoon season’.

Remember, it's a time in Korea when there's a lot of rain and it's very hot and sticky, right?

Now, in Southern California where I'm from,

there is no monsoon season.

モンスーンの季節はありません。

We get a little bit of rain in the winter time which is very different from Korea.

冬には少し雨が降りますが、それは韓国とは大きく異なります。

But again, nothing like the rain we see here.

しかし、繰り返しますが、ここで見られる雨のようなものはありません。

Okay so that is something that I'm still trying to get used to.

Okay, so again, the word we learned is ‘monsoon season’.
