that you can read to help improve your English.

So we're gonna look at six different books,

and I'm going to go in order of how thick they are.

So the first book I'm starting

with is a book called "The Pearl."

I'm gonna hide behind the book

so the camera focuses on it for a second.

"The Pearl" is a really good book

"The Pearl" वाक़ई में बहुत अच्छी किताब है

about what happens when someone encounters

something of great wealth in their life.

कोई क़ीमती चीज़ मिल जाए

It's a book by John Steinbeck,

ये किताब जॉन स्टाइनबैक ने लिखी है,

it is a classic,

ये एक क्लासिक है,

and it's a book that high school

और कनाडा में हाई स्कूल के विद्यार्थी

students regularly read in Canada.

ये किताब अक्सर पढ़ते हैं।

It is a total of 88 pages long,

ये कुल 88 पन्नों की किताब है,

so not a super long book in that sense,

and I think a really good book for you

to read to learn just a little bit of English.

I've recommended this book to some of you,

So I don't wanna give you too

much information about the book,

but this is my first recommendation

of a book that you could read.

My second recommendation is a book called

"The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe,"

"The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe,"

and this is a book by C.S. Lewis.

और ये किताब सी० ऐस० लूइस ने लिखी है।

This is what we would call a fantasy book.

इस तरह की किताबों को ही हम काल्पनिक किताब कहते है।

So it takes place in a fictional world,

ये कहानी एक बनावटी (या नक़ली) दुनिया में घटती है,

and it is a really good book to read because,

और ये पढ़ने के लिये एक बहुत ही बेहतरीन किताब है क्यूँकि,

first of all, once again, it's thin.

पहली बात तो ये कि ये काफ़ी पतली है।

It's a little bit thicker than "The Pearl."

ये "The Pearl" से बस थोड़ी ही ज़्यादा मोटी है।

It is a total of,

ये कुल मिलाकर,

let me see here, 188 pages,

मुझे देखने दीजिये, 188 पन्नों की है,

जब मैं छोटा था तब मैंने ये किताब पढ़ी थी,

but I read this story as a kid,

so it's not a simple book,

ये कोई सीधी-सादी किताब नहीं है,

but it is easy to understand.

पर समझने में आसान है।

This is my second recommendation.

If you read this book

अगर आप इस किताब को पढ़ना चाहते हैं

you will want to be someone who enjoys stories

that are about the fantasy world or a fantasy world.

This takes place in a land called Narnia,

ये कहानी नार्निया नाम के देश में घटती है,

and it tells a story of some children

ये कहानी कुछ बच्चों के बारे में है

who find their way from our world into this fantasy world.

जो हमारी दुनिया से इस काल्पनिक दुनिया में पहुँच जाते हैं।

It's a great book.

ये बहुत ही बेहतरीन किताब है।

"The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe" by C.S. Lewis.

I think you'll enjoy it.

The next book that I want to recommend to you

जिस किताब के बारे में मैं अब आपको बताना चाहता हूँ वो है

ऑर्सन स्कॉट कार्ड की तरफ़ से लिखी गई "Ender's Game."

is a book called "Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card.

This is what we would call a science fiction book.

इस तरह की किताबों को ही हम साइंस फ़िक्शन कहते हैं।

So it takes place in the future,

इसकी कहानी भविष्य में घटती है,

it takes place in space,

और अंतरिक्ष में,

it takes place on Earth and in space.

असल में ये धरती और अंतरिक्ष दोनों में ही घटती है।

And it is a really good story.

और ये एक बहुत ही बेहतरीन कहानी है।

It's not super long,

ये ज़्यादा लंबी नहीं है।

it's thicker, of course,

ज़ाहिर है कि ये

than "The Pearl" and "The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe."

"The Pearl" और "The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe" से ज़्यादा लंबी है।

this book comes in at 209 pages.

ये किताब 209 पन्नों की है।

But I really enjoyed this book.

ये किताब मुझे बहुत पसंद आई।

It tells the story of a boy named Ender Wiggin,

ये कहानी है ऐंडर विगिन नाम के लड़के की

and he goes to a school where he learns

जो एक स्कूल में जाकर भविष्य में

फ़ौजी बनने की सीख लेता है।

to be a soldier in the future.

I don't wanna say too much about this story,

इस कहानी के बारे में मैं आपको ज़्यादा कुछ नहीं बताना चाहता।

but I really enjoyed this book

ये किताब मुझे बेहद पसंद आई

when I read it as a kid.

जब मैंने इसे अपने बचपन में पढ़ा था।

In fact, I have read this book three times so far.

ये किताब मैं अब तक तीन बार पढ़ चुका हूँ।

Oh, and one thing I forgot to mention

अरे हाँ, मैं एक बात बताना तो भूल ही गया।

is "The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe"

वो ये कि "The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe"

and "Ender's Game" are also both available as movies,

और "Ender's Game" एक फ़िल्म के तौर पर भी देखी जा सकती हैं।

so that can be very helpful for you as well.

ये आपके लिये काफ़ी मददगार हो सकता है।

Anyways, recommendation number 3, "Ender's Game,"

ये मेरी तीसरी रिकमैंडेशन है।

really good book.

बहुत ही बढ़िया किताब है।

My fourth recommendation is also science fiction,

मेरी चौथी रिकमैंडेशन भी एक साइंस फ़िक्शन है

but it's also a really funny science fiction book,

मगर ये एक तरह की मज़ेदार साइंस फ़िक्शन है

and it's called

"The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy"

by Douglas Adams.

जिसे डगलस ऐडम्स ने लिखा है।

Now, before you think this is a really thick book,

अब इससे पहले कि आप ये सोचें कि ये बहुत ही लंबी किताब है,

this particular volume actually contains four books.

असल में, इस वॉल्यूम में चार किताबें एक साथ हैं।

And this book itself is only,

और ये वाली किताब,

let me see here, 252 pages.

It's really only this much of the book

is "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy."

The reason I love this book,

ये किताब मुझे इसलिये पसंद है क्यूँकि

it is science fiction,

ये साइंस फ़िक्शन तो है ही

but the reason I love it is because it is funny.

साथ ही साथ मज़ेदार भी है।

And I think as an English learner,

और मुझे लगता है कि अंग्रेज़ी सीखनेवाले

if you read this book,

अगर इस किताब को पढ़ेंगे तो

I think the humor is easy enough to understand

वो इसकी मज़ाकिया शैली आसानी से समझ जाएँगे

that as an English learner you would

जिसे जानकर आप लोगों को

really appreciate it

ख़ुशी होगी

and like it as well.

और पसंद भी आएगी।

So book number four,

तो ये है हमारी चौथी किताब

"The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy."

I think you'll really like it.

मुझे लगता ये आपको बेहद पसंद आएगी।

Oh, also available as a movie,

और हाँ, ये फ़िल्म के तौर पर भी देखी जा सकती है।

so you could read the book

तो इसे आप पहले पढ़ सकते हैं

and then go see the movie.

और फिर फ़िल्म देखने जा सकते हैं।

The fifth book that I'm going

पाँचवीं किताब जिसके बारे में मैं बताने जा रहा हूँ

to recommend is the "Life Of Pi,"

वो है "Life Of Pi"

and this is by Yann Martel.

और ये यान मार्टल की लिखी हुई है।

This is actually written by a Canadian author,

दरअसल ये एक कनेडियाई लेखक ने ही लिखी है।

you should fact check that,

आप इस बात को पहले पक्का कर लें

you should check on Google

गूगल पे सर्च करके

to make sure I'm telling the truth,

कि मैं सच ही बोल रहा हूँ।

but this is by an author from Canada

ये कनाडा के लेखक की ही लिखी हुई है

and it's the "Life Of Pi."

और इसे कहते हैं "Life Of Pe."

It's the story of a boy

ये एक ऐसे लड़के की कहानी है

who is originally from India,

जो मूलतौर पर भारत से है

and due to circumstances in life,

और ज़िन्दगी के कुछ हालातों की वजह से

he questions all the different religions

वो सारे धर्मों पर उंगलियाँ उठाता है

and he ends up making kind

और फिर वो समंदर में

of an unorthodox trip across the ocean.

एक अजीब सफ़र पर निकल पड़ता है।

You'll have to look that word up,

आपको "unorthodox" शब्द का मतलब पता करना पड़ेगा।

but "Life Of Pi,"

"Life of Pi"

you'll see there's a small boy in a boat with a tiger.

आप इसमें देखेंगे कि एक छोटा लड़का नाव में एक बाघ के साथ है।

Hopefully that creates some intrigue for you.

So "Life Of Pi,"

that's the next book that I highly recommend that you read.

It comes in at 396 pages,

so a little longer than the other recommendations,

but I do think this is a great book for you to read.

So the next book I'm going

to recommend is "The Firm" by John Grisham.

जॉन ग्रीशम की लिखी हुई "The Firm."

John Grisham is actually a really good author.

जॉन ग्रीशम वाक़ई में बहुत ही अच्छे लेखक हैं।

He writes very exciting books.

वे बहुत ही रोमांचक किताबें लिखते हैं।

I think you'll really enjoy this one.

मुझे लगता ये आपको बहुत पसंद आएगी।

And when you're done reading it,

और जब आप इसे पढ़ लें,

there is also a movie of the same name.

आप इसी नाम की फ़िल्म भी देख सकते हैं।

So that's a really cool thing about

most of the books I've recommended.

There is usually a movie that you

can watch after you read it,

but "The Firm" is an exciting story.

It's a story about a lawyer,

and if you like stories about the law,

if you like stories about lawyers,

I think you will really, really enjoy this one as well.

It was a very exciting book for me to read.

In fact, I have read almost all of John Grisham's

books because this was one of the first ones I read,
