It is a big part of British culture

Umm..another one, that we say sorry a lot

This is true!

Anyone who lives in England or the UK

Alguém que viva em Inglaterra ou no reino Unido

will realise that we say sorry a lot!

when it's not necessary and when I moved to Spain

I was saying sorry and please and thank you all the time

until one of my friends was saying like

"Lucy...you sound desperate like stop apologising!"

But yeah, a myth...that we're very closed

A lot of the students that I teach in London say

"Oh god, English people are just so unfriendly"

Meu Deus, os ingleses são pouco amistosos

And I don't think that London is a good representation of the UK as a whole

Eu não acho que Londres seja um bom exemplo do Reino Unido em geral

So...I would say that we're very friendly

Maybe not as friendly as some other nationalities but

If you think that English people are unfriendly

You've been meeting the wrong kind of English people

OK, the best thing about Spain...well, it's got to be the Spaniards!

I love Spanish people, they are so friendly

Adoro o povo espanhol

so fun and just they know how to have a really good time

são muito divertidos e sabem divertir-se

and that's basically why I want to live in Spain in the future!

é basicamente por isso que de futuro quero ir viver para Espanha

The worst thing about living in Spain was definitely the political corruption

a pior coisa de viver em espanha é a corrupção política

and also the amount of paperwork that you have to do for everything

e também a quantidade de burocracia que é necessária para fazer para tudo

Just to apply for a simple license or a national insurance number or something like that

para obter uma licença ou um seguro ou algo assim

You have to spend hours waiting in a queue, you have to fill in a hundred forms

temos de esperar horas numa fila, temos de preencher cem impressos

really, in this day and age, it should just be available online!

francamente, hoje em dia, devia estar tudo disponível online

So that was very frustrating!

How does a marketer go from ads and pitching to teaching ESL?

Como é que um marketer passa da publicidade e do pitching para o ensino de Inglês como segunda língua

When were you aware that you liked teaching as a professional career?

quando é que se apercebeu que gostava de ensinar como carreira profissional?

ESL is English as a Second Language

ESL é inglês como segunda língua

And this is because I used to work in marketing

Isto é porque eu trabalhava em marketing

and my degree was in marketing

e a minha formação era em marketing

I found out that I liked teaching by mistake

descobri que gostava de ensinar por acaso

I was doing a placement year that went wrong

estava a fazer um ano de estágio que correu mal

And I suddenly had no job

e de repente fiquei sem trabalho

I'd done a little bit of teaching before when I was living in Madrid but

antes tinha feito algum ensino quando vivia em Madrid mas

I moved to Seville

mudei -me para Sevilha

I did my teaching qualification at TEFL International Seville

fiz a minha qualificação no TEFL Internacional de Sevilha

which was great. If anyone wants to do it then definitely do it there

I mean it was fabulous

They offered me a job there, I continued on, fell in love with teaching

ofereceram-me um emprego, continuei, e apaixonei-me pelo ensino

and because I did marketing and advertising

e porque fiz marketing e publicidade

I wanted to create my own thing

decidi fazer a minha coisa própria

So here I am! Doing it!

I've never died my hair before

So...err...this is my hair

I've always had blonde hair

Actually I was born ginger, but then it changed blonde

na verdade, nasci ruiva, mas depois fiquei loura

and it's always been more or less the same colour so yeah..

e desde aí tem sido sempre mais ou menos assim desta cor

The bad thing about having blonde hair is that this happens

That was 20 minutes in the sun!

So yes, I like my hair colour but my skin is very sensitive
